We Belong Together (102,175)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Saturday 4 February 2023; 02:45)
UEFA Championship League is promoting their Valentine's Day game using WBT. It is a great commercial using MC's emotional 14 weeks at #1 break-up song. They show the players and fans during emotional scenes and plays as MC sings the outro chorus part before she delivers the emotional climax. I guess that's another 5 million in MC's bank account. |

It's a Wrap live (102,166)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Wednesday 1 February 2023; 12:30)
Yes. This was the best live performance during this era. The second best live performance was H.A.T.E.U. on the David Letterman Show. MC was so nervous during her performance. You can hear her unable to reach the note at the end of the bridge when she sings "I can't wait to hate you." However, she executed the whistle notes following with ease. I have both of them recorded on CD. |

Remember when Mariah performed It's a Wrap live on the George Lopez Tonight show? Rewatching it now, Mariah killed it. She was still on fire in 2009 and 2010. I remember being blown away during the Angels Advocate show, thinking she sounded better than during the Adventures of Mimi tour. And of course MCIIY came later that year, which I love the vocals on as well as the Christmas special she did while pregnant. Maybe it is the booze. |

We should start a Twitter campaign for MC to release Angels Advocate and the Jumpsmokers remixes on vinyl and CD. I suggest a 4LP vinyl and 2 CD set titled: Lambs Most Requested: Angels Advocate. |

I'm so happy for Mariah and all the lambs in the land with taste and who actually love the album. It's currently her most streamed album on Spotify. [It's a wrap] is also Mariah most streamed song and it is the biggest gainer on Spotify Viral Songs USA at #98.
Her music is timeless, it deserves so much more. Super shoutout to her last few albums plus Charmbracelet. So many hidden gems and so many missed opportunities. |

If you could have one extra album squeezed in over the years where would you want it? I think I’d have liked another album squeezed in before Daydream. Music box has always been my favourite and I think with those vocals and adult contemporary/pop style I would have liked another album of similar style. |

Mariah back with IDJ (102,144)
by Robert-Anthony from United States

I would rather MC go independent like Alicia Keys. She can do it easily with her connections and cash flow. Scooter Braun could manage it for her. Something is not working with the way she is doing it with larger record labels. |

Now that Mariah is no longer with a record label how would everyone feel if she re-signed with Island Def Jam records? I mean she went back to Sony in 2015 and for the five years that followed until 2020 Rarities she used her former label to build on her legacy with the company. Whilst still releasing one new album, Caution. Could she possibly do that now with IDJ? Use the next five years to build on her Island discography and give us one new album along the way. She could start with a MOAIA re-release now that It's a Wrap is blowing up. Tack on Drake to the track and release the album with the HATEU remix plus Skydiving. Then continue with #MC30. This would be a great route for her and give her some much needed direction right now. I'd take IDJ over Epic anyway. |

It is just a reissue with no new tracks, but at a higher price of $94.00. The original release was $55.00. I suppose that she is doing this because the original release sold out really quickly October 2020 and it is going for $100 and up on Ebay. |

I just received a fan made CD of all the Memoirs Jumpsmokers remixes that I purchased off Ebay. There is not one bad track on the CD. Finally there is a 4 minutes dance version of Languishing. Randy, you would love it. It's a shame this album was never released back in 2010. Hit me up for the seller information. |

"That is the beauty of Mariah's catalog, there's still so much to explore because some of them didn't necessarily explore when they were released initially". Yes of course no one is denying this but fact is she needs to be releasing new songs not trying to make those old songs "happen" so to speak. They're still old songs that didn't get their chance for whatever reason, and the window of opportunity closed. That ship has long sailed and sunk at sea. |

Caution (102,118)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Tuesday 24 January 2023; 02:30)
I am just wondering what made satisfying for the Lambs and achieve critically acclaim status from critics. I look back now because I think MC created a new genre of music that I call R&B Fused Neo-Soul. I think that is what MC released to world in 2018. My only disappointment was that singles choices were out of sequence and the absurd instant grats concept. Sounds like a Jay Z idea. A No No should have been released as the official first single over With You. Can you imagine a Junior Vasquez club mix with resung vocals? How many other artists have records executives who screw up single choices? I can't think of any except MC. |

I love Caution but it's really missing a Mariah Carey trademark explosion. I remember when I first listened to 8th Grade and Giving Me Life. I was patiently waiting on the outros for an octave raise. Somewhat the WBT (LNVM) gave me hope about an album with the standard Mariah powers. Oh Mimi, please bless us one more time. |

Memoirs is underrated (102,114)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Monday 23 January 2023; 01:19)
I was just thinking about E=MC2. It was a total disappointment for me. It has some very weak songs that were more like album fillers. I am speaking about Cruise Control, Stay In Love, Last Kiss, OCC, Bye Bye and Love Story. Those six songs should have been left off and replaced with stronger songs. Def Jam stopped all promotion after Bye Bye stalled at #19 on the Hot 100 and MC's mind was on Nick. Danja and Scott Storch should have done more songs. One fun fact, E=MC2 had more album variations from other countries than any of MC's album releases including The Mimi E=MC2 Adventures Box. |

I agree. I think the "Memoirs" album is underrated and better than E=MC2, but it's too long. I really don't like "Obsessed" amongst the singles in her catalogue - the auto-tune use was a major turnoff. I probably would have picked a different song to remake other than "I Want to Know What Love Is" - it just didn't work and felt a little random since she hadn't covered anything in a while. I went to the Atlanta tour date of the "Angels Advocate" tour and remember being bummed when the remix album "Angels Advocate" was cancelled. She leaned pretty heavily into her role in "Precious" during this period, which was a little surprising considering how small her role is in the movie. Everyone was like "Oh, this is proof she can act." but I found her much more compelling in "Wisegirls" and "Tennessee". Her role in "Tennessee" was much larger and she recorded two songs for it, but she hardly did any promotion for the film or "Right to Dream", which is a great song. |

Memoirs is underrated (102,107)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Sunday 22 January 2023; 00:04)
You may be right Edward, but The-Dream was a hot songwriter from 2007-2010. He was working with every major R&B artist at the time from Rihanna to Beyonce to Ciara to Usher. MC was destined to work with The-Dream. My Love was kind of the green light from L.A. Reid to co-write and produced a full album with MC even though The-Dream pissed him off by saying in interviews that a duet was coming out in February 2009 featuring the two. That duet was My Love. |

Actually, the reason Memoirs didn't work it was because of the "The Dream", as in the album having kind of a repetitive sound. I do think she should've used him for four or five tracks and get the rest produced by some other people. You can basically hear "The Dream" in each track. I do like the track Mariah recorded for his album called "My Love", I rarely see it mentioned here. |

Memoirs worked because of The-Dream. It was a fun album. It was the last album that MC poured her heart and soul into. The-Dream said that MC kept him into the studio all night until 6am. One fun fact about Memoirs is that Obsessed was the only single to have an official 12 inch vinyl release. |

Mark Sudak and Scram Jones (102,098)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Friday 20 January 2023; 02:00)
I have been looking through my "Mariah" book lately that I have maintained throughout the years. I have always wondered why she kept her relationship with Mark Sudak such a secret. Did he remind her that a business/personal type of relationship would never work because of her tumultuous relationship with Tommy? Did he propose to MC and she said no several times? Also during the time of recording TEOM, did MC write Your Girl about Scram Jones? MC is the only female singer that he has ever collaborated with and produced a song for. Did the two have a brief fling during the recording of TEOM? Just me thinking again during this long period between albums. |

You're joking, right? At this point it's not only about the key, but about the fact that her fluidity and buttery tone are basically gone. She could try, but it would turn into another one of choppy her versions of "Hero", but the 2023 version.
I think this is the time for her start training her voice again, there are many great vocal coaches out there that would get her voice in decent shape, but that would take work. It's like going to the gym, you don't shed those extra pounds or put on some muscle if you don't move your ass. |

It's a wrap for you baby challenge TikTok (102,080)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Monday 16 January 2023; 10:33)
I just wish IAW could get the same radio response after all of these years as Chris Brown's Under The Influence has done from a TikTok dance video. Under The Influence is now a Top 20 Urban Hit after all of these years because of Urban radio. However, Urban radio won't do the same thing for MC because radio programmers lost interest for MC after E=MC2. It's true because she hasn't had a Urban hit since TMB. Plus, Brezzy is just hot right now because he just writes some hot Urban songs. I smell a Brezzy and MC duet this year. I know that I am going to get some backlash for thinking about that collaboration. |

Kinds [sic] have discovered the song and made a dance to it. Someone mortified Mariah on Twitter and she even has her own [TikTok] up. What do you all think, a nice bump in streams or a possible top 10 hit a la Steve's [Lacy bad habits viral]? |

The vocal performance award (102,066)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Friday 13 January 2023; 01:04)
I think it was because of the lack of consistency with MC's sound from 1990-1997. She started out with a pop debut album in 1990. Emotions had more of a R&B sound. Music Box went back to a pop sound. Daydream was totally a R&B album. Butterfly moved MC more into the hip hop R&B world. Do you see how the Grammys committee would be confused about MC's sound and direction? |

One of the reasons I think Mariah lost so many "vocal performance" awards at the Grammys is the fact that most of her earlier recordings were "polished" so to speak, done in multiple takes and the best parts being used, giving her this flawless studio recording every time, especially the first half of the 90's. Yes she was always nominated (at some point Mariah was the most nominated female artist at the Grammys and most were for vocal performance) but she always lost to other females that one could hear most likely did those songs in one take. From the first album, [only] "Vision of Love" is sung in one take (the 2nd Mariah doing all that insane ad-libbing) and what do you know? She won for Pop Vocal and then again with "We Belong Together" another one take song, won best R&B vocal performance. So I do think the Grammys acknowledge singers who don't gloss their vocals. Just a thought. What do you guys think? |
