Thirsty (103,830)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Friday 20 October 2023; 23:59)
No. It's all about Damizza. I will prove it by the following:
1. Damion Young changed his name to Damizza. 2. His book Guilty was published in 2012. Thirsty was released in 2013. 3. He was trying to be the next Irv Gotti wearing Tom Fords and starting his own label. 4. MC was in love with Damizza. She confessed her love for him in If We. 5. Thirsty was MC's single word response to Guilty. |

Edward- Bill is still number #1 in my book and you too. You are our well grounded and most objective member and Bill is our MCA's chart guru. Jamie asks some great questions and keeps the topics going and Terna gives some great commentary about MC's vocal decline and he laughed at me calling Special K "sugar plum". I am just having fun on here and laughing at Andy's jabs at me now. We are a family and we got to have fun on here. Edward, what are you doing for New Years Eve? |

Halloween is in two weeks. What is MC going to do this year to top last year's "it's time" video? I suspect this year Roc and Roe will be involved in the video. By the way, the 2019 Merry Christmas Anniversary Edition was released on November 1st, 2019. It will be 4 years old this year. I am ready for the festive season to begin. |

Miss You Most (At Christmas Time) (103,808)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Thursday 19 October 2023; 12:15)
I did some research. Although it was released as the 2nd single and a video was made, Miss You Most failed to chart. I did notice an increase of plays in retail stores in 2019 and 2020, but radio won't consider playing it. It is such beautiful song that I don't mind its sadness. |

(Thursday 19 October 2023; 04:43)
I just pulled out another gem released 5 years ago. 1993 MC would have let loose on The Star. I hope more Marc Shaiman collaborations will happen. This collaboration really captured the essence of MC's unique melody with his own musical brilliance. By the way, something special is happening about Caution in November. Can you believe it has been 5 years since its release? I have something special planned for Cautuon on November 16th. Stay tuned in 4 weeks. |

I just thought about this song today. Why are Christmas ballads not as popular as up tempo songs during the Christmas season? Every song released and makes it unto the charts is up tempo or mid tempo. You would think with the right promotion and airplay, Miss You Most could easily be a top 10 hit each year. |

Mariah has a Spotify taping with fans in LA in early November. She is also rumored to make a big announcement before her Christmas tour starts and have a big collaboration coming up. Could the fabled "Themed Album" be another Christmas album? Whereas a third Christmas album would be crazy even for Mariah, it also could be her safest album venture. Mariah is smart and knows her albums don't sell anymore but she also knows that she holds special magical powers during the holiday season. It's a long shot but maybe she's recorded another holiday album with a lot of collaborations? Either way - something is a'brewing. |

Libra, we all are truly concerned about MC's career. Retirement will save her legacy. If she continues down this path of poor performances, YouTube viewers and music critics are not going to be nice anymore. She should stop performing live until her vocal issues are resolved. I would rather have The Rarities release #2-5 for the next 5 years than for MC to continue performing live and sounding a hot mess. I just wish Kuk Harrell or Mervyn Warren or Donald Lawrence were around in the 90s as her vocal coach producing her vocals. They would have told her no to the way she sung in that breathiness tone from 1995-1999 and to stop the whistle notes. If only Tommy made MC have a vocal coach during those early years, we might not be cringing in our seats now with every live performance. |

Einstein is an album enjoyable more than TEOM. Sure there are many fire records on TEOM but Einstein is in a different layer. The freest Mariah Carey has ever been. Artistry, vocals, looks and having fun. Too bad NC ruined it lol. Anyways, the trade-off are the twins which should be her whole world and not her already established career.
Not because I am a fan but everytime TMB goes in radio - which TMB was labeled as her weakest sounding Number 1 - this really deserved to be on the top. If released now, does not sound dated and listening to it makes me in awe that, she really did dig this vs her peers which was left in the encyclopedia era.
The only thing that really make fans angry is her lack of honesty which I think she owes to us. If she can't do stuff anymore then tell it to us, I think the lambily world can support her than being rapped as stiff like wood baby ala Missy Elliot. |

Bill, where have you been? I opened up my Mariah book just for you. Lol. Great post as always. We are watching MC sink further in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Her mind is in Capri while her body is in New York preparing for 13 facade of Christmas concerts. The four employees who could have a talk with her and get her to stop these concerts are Daniel, Maryann, Trey, and Takeytha. They are participating with her in these concerts that we all know will not make MC sound and look any better this Christmas. How can they not say anything and watch what she doing to herself? I see their checks in their hands as they run to the bank. |

I'm sure I'm not alone in having an impending sense of dread, rather than excitement, about the upcoming Christmas concerts. At this point we know the drill. 95% lipped performances with the occasional "eh" barked out, peppered with a couple of verses being "spoken melodically" for good measure. The focus will be on the hair, make up, breasts, and shimmering gown or, heaven forbid, a return to those hideous leotards.
YouTube will be littered with comments from the delusionals saying it's live, she has a cold, she has nothing to prove, she's preserving her voice etc. That last one always gets me lol. What on earth is she preserving her voice for, if not when performing live in concert? I mean, she's been preserving her voice since 1997. It's preserved for heaven's sake.
My advice as Mariah's manager? Cancel the concerts, retire gracefully, and focus on re-releasing back catalogue specials. Start with The Rarities II You (I Lose Control, We're Not Making Love Anymore, There for Me, and Randy's Theme all should have been represented on the original), find and release your infamous demo tape so we can experience what Tommy did in the limo that fateful night, HD the crap out of the Music Box, Daydream (especially London, which I attended), Butterfly, Rainbow and Charmbracelet Tour footage, and please, seek permission from the estate of Prince to release your Glitter-era duet.
Stagger that out over the next few years with "30" releases of the studio albums as their anniversaries hit and everyone will forget about the dreadful performances of the last 10-15 years which are now greatly outweighing the good. |

Watch that video and then think back to, say, Anytime You Need A Friend at Proctor's Theatre. Could you ever have imagined, in the most wild of your dreamings, that the Mariah who sang that song on that stage that fateful night would go on to produce utter visual and audio cack such as this? |

We will know by the end of the Merry Christmas One and All shows where MC's career will be next year. There is a reason why she doesn't have a recording contract right now. MC knows why she doesn't have a recording contract. No one would have believed in 1997 that the greatest female singer in world would not have a recording contract in 2023. It's sad that she couldn't get a indie or Shanachie recording contract right now. No label executive wants to invest money in her with the current state of her voice. There is talk among label executives about MC's career. We are no longer in an extended break between albums. We are in an official undisclosed album hiatus right now. |

I agree. Mariah has been in control of her career since Butterfly. I have said this so many times, but I'll say it again: In an interview with Perez Hilton back in 2008, when there were rumors that Migrate would be the second single, he asked about it and Mariah quickly let him know that she knew what she was doing, that the second single would be a ballad. They really thought Bye Bye would be a smash. Some of these delulu should have hold Mariah accountable for her bad decisions and stop justifying shit. |

Questions for JD (103,739)

(Saturday 14 October 2023; 05:24)
Just flipping through my Mariah book looking at all of the managers MC has had in 30 years. The most shocking manager era was when JD became her manager. After 10 years later, I have questions for JD. What happened between you and MC that caused your management deal with MC to end?. Did you have a different direction for MIAM after the Walmart TAOLG leak? Did you ever suggest to MC that she retire in 2013 after the commercial failure of MIAM? What is the music industry saying about MC's lack of vocal ability now? What is your favorite MC collaboration? Finally, why did you allow MC to record I Don't and Save The Day? |

Lol. We may not find out until 20 years later what is truly wrong with Mariah. Maybe she has been suffering long-term effects from dislocating her shoulder in 2013. She hasn't moved on stage much since 2013. We may never know what is going on with MC. It took her 17 years to tell the world that she is bipolar. |

Something is definitely wrong here. I have been saying the same thing. Although she looked beautiful in the MB30 videos, I'm like why can't she just move and act naturally. It's very irritating sometimes. Then when she performs in Qatar, she's almost lifeless on stage, standing almost completely still and not performing at the level of a superstar who's been on stage for 30+ years. Let's not even talk about how much of the show she was lip syncing. I'm not sure what is going on behind the scenes but something definitely isn't quite right. |

Migrate (103,724)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Thursday 12 October 2023; 13:01)
I was just thinking about Migrate and how it was such misstep in her career that cost her a #1 song. Mariah Carey's top five negative career decisions are the following:
1. Migrate - Island/Def Jam's decision not releasing it as the second single.
2. Glitter - I don't need to say why.
3. American Idol - She was made a mockery of by the producers for ratings. Let's have the viewers tune in each week to see Mariah and Nicki fight on live TV.
4. Through The Rain - Prior to Charmbracelet, MC had never released a ballad as her first single.
5. A No No - The failure of securing Cardi B. was a shame and let down after all the hype about the talk of Cardi B. on the remix. |

Butterfly the song (103,722)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Thursday 12 October 2023; 01:03)
I remember R&B radio in 1997 playing Butterfly like every hour when the video was released. Butterfly is MC's best written song from the 90s. So, why hasn't it ever been covered? But, who could cover it today and sing it well? Coco Jones? Ariana Grande? Tamar Braxton? So that brings me to my final question. Why hasn't MC had an allstar tribute album like Aretha, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, and Luther? Isn't she worthy of such a tribute after 30 years in the music business? I think that she is worthy. It would probably be a platinum selling album too. Butterfly brought me here because this song signifies why MC is the greatest at melody and lyrics. Tommy must have lost it when he heard Butterfly that he had to set MC free. |

I've always seen this record as an old school vibe album so obviously I would include Mesmerized, which was recorded in 2012. I would've also loved Up Out Of My Face on that album as it's a way of letting someone go. Imagine the duet with Nicki at that stage during American Idol? All in all I'd keep the album short and sweet but impactful. PS. I always pictured Betcha, Hate U, and It's a Wrap also perfect fits for it. Look at the story this album would tell about her relationship:
1. Betcha Gon' Know 2. Faded 3. Up Out My Face (ft. Nicki Minaj) 4. H.A.T.E.U. 5. Dedicated (ft. Nas) 6. Beautiful (ft. Miguel) 7. You're Mine 8. You Don't Know What To Do 9. Camouflage 10. Mesmerized 11. Cry 12. Meteorite 13. It's A Wrap (ft. Mary J Blige) 14. The Art Of Letting Go
PS. I still think Obsessed on Einstein would've been a game changer. |

How tragic that would have been, considering 13+ years later MOAIA is out-streaming MC2, all her albums in fact except Daydream and TEOM.
I don't think Obsessed would have helped E=MC2. Obsessed was a hit because it was a lead single. Otherwise, it would have met the same fate as IBLYLT, which I thought was a great single and deserved better promo. |

I don't know, Obsessed was a last minute addition to MOAIA after Bagpipes was released and she wrote it in response specifically. I don't think that sonically, it makes sense for those 4 songs to be on E=MC2 because her voice had changed again by that point (it sounded fuller vs the songs on E), and they just don't flow well with the party atmosphere she had with that album. DFAU etc. worked well for TEOM because there was still a sonic theme going that she was after and they fit well with the rest of the album. Those four just don't go on E. |

We all know the tragic story of E=MC2's trajectory after the first single, the disappearance of Mimi and then the re-emergence in depression. In hindsight, with the lack of commercial success she's had since (except Christmas), one really can look back at the mistakes made like not releasing Migrate as the second single and think it was her last big change at commercial dominance. Would've a re-release like she did with TEOM made a big difference? Would it have sparked new life for the album? Imagine Obsessed was the fourth single from a repackaged album. I think I would've taken that over MOAIA.
1. Migrate (ft. T-Pain) 2. Touch My Body 3. Cruise Control (ft. Damian Marley) 4. I Stay In Love 5. Side Effects (ft. Young Jeezy) 6. I'm That Chick 7. Love Story 8. I'll Be Lovin You Long Time 9. Last Kiss 10. Thanks For Nothing 11. OOC 12. For The Record 13. Bye Bye 14. I Wish You Well
15. Obsessed 16. Betcha Gon' Know 17. H.A.T.E.U. 18. It's a Wrap |
