I have been a Lamb since 1990. I know Mariah. I love her music. I breathe her music.

I believe the Elusive Chanteuse tiltle was a jab at Nick for never being at home the last year of their marriage. When MC said that people had started calling her that I was like who has been calling MC that. The title just didn't fit the MC that we have known for having such an incredible work ethic and being frank with people.

Facts. "Me. I Am Mariah" is a decent title, much like The Emancipation of Mimi. Then she added the Elusive Chanteuse... and that's where she lost me. Oh well.

I found out on the web through a Google search and AI said that the TEOM vinyl reissue has been pushed back to June 6th. Three weeks later Barbra's new duets album will be released. I am curious how Barbra, Mariah and Ariana will sound together.

Mimi calendar (108,699)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Has anyone seen the new video upload for the new DFAU remix? The visuals are of the 2025 calendar highlight certain important dates like Fourth of July, Christmas etc, it also has dates like Mariah's, the twins and Kaytranada's birthdays, it also has dates of milestone moments from Mimi but what interests me most is it has dates highlighted that we don't know what's happening. Like May 30th is in gold so we know that's the release of TEOM reissue but then June 6th has a caution/exclamation sign wonder what that is. It also has one where there are high heels not sure what that represents. The calendar also shows she's booked and busy hahah but surprisingly nothing about her holiday shows. Anyone has any guesses what the unknown highlighted dates mean?

It's interesting that Camron was calling MC Mimi during their professional relationship back then. I just wonder if Boy I Need You is really about him.

Bobby A, are you out of your mind? Nobody's selling records like that anymore. What Mariah should focus on is crafting mature lyrics and unforgettable melodies. She'll be starting the defrosting process soon. I doubt we'll get new music anytime soon. She needs three weeks at #1 this year to reclaim the throne, so you can bet she'll be going all out for that. Then next year, she'll be inducted on the "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame", it's well deserved and long overdue.

I guess MC really did scrap those ten songs from 2023. Do you think their collaboration will enable MC to have sales numbers like TEOM's first week and year-end sales numbers? I believe MC and .Paak can do it. I am feeling good about their collaboration. What if MC16 is the type of music that MC has never done before? Songs that make people say hmmmmm. Did Mariah just say what I have been thinking for years?

So today I've read the Daydream era from him. He knew which direction she wanted to go and gave her the tools to do. He initially said he was reluctant to put ODB on the [Fantasy] remix but then after hearing it he knew it was a hit. He says Daydream gave her the all round genre approach and finally she got the hip hop audience she so wanted. He says he was happy with this and it had been a complete success. The only problem then came with [Fantasy] remix success was that Mariah was now saying this is the only direction she wanted to go in. Sony and himself were concerned and tried to tell her that she can be all genres she could have everything and have every demographic unlike anyone that's come before her. They were concerned that going strictly down this path would isolate some of her fans and ultimately reduce sales. But Mariah was adamant and this is where the cracks began. I have to agree with him here, whilst I love hip hop Mariah, she has so many layers to her that she can and did appeal to a wider audience. I think she ultimately became too hip hop for her fanbase and ultimately sales did decline. Whilst we as fans know that her late albums still contain some ballads, I think to the general public because she was heavily hip hop and this was the image she was portraying, a far cry from who they thought she was, they turned their backs and didn't know that there were still some ballads on their at least post Butterfly. Whilst Emancipation brought a whole new audience, I think from her early fans and audience the damage was done. Had she not been so focused on the hip hop side and kept her image appealing to everyone I think her sales and reputation would have been more favourable. Who knows? That's just my opinion, I just think it was too much of a fast transition for most. He ultimately says they respect artists intentions but also that there's a team behind them that it's their jobs to allow creativity but also to try and nurture them into a path that they think would be right for the artist and their public image.

Thank you, Zachariah. Have fun in Bali. I hear it is gorgueous there. I love Tenneseee in the summertime. There's nothing like sweet tea with a deli sandwich lunch or pasta entree at dinner. At restaurants, the waitresses call you honey and sugarplum. That just makes me feel right home when I visit Nashville.

I can't help but wonder if Tommy played a role in getting MC shutout at the Grammys. She was pushing further into R&B, something TM despised. Daydream was a commercial success but maybe Tommy orchestrated the shutout at such a high profile event to "shut up" Mariah and push her back to pop/adult contemporary.

One Heart, One Voice (108,640)
by Bobby A from United States

I am praying it leads to a Walter A. and MC collaboration. I truly believe they have forgiven each other and have moved on. It would be the 360 circle needed for MC's career. Walter A. knows MC's voice and how to make her shine on a song. We can't deny that about him. Baby from Dreamville, what are your thoughts about the new collaboration and Walter A. producing it. The title, One Heart One Voice reminds me of the letter you penned to MC some months ago.

That was a really good article. I also believe that Randy is correct about all the diva act keep her and rest of the world separate. People doesn't take her serious. Another perspective is that her voice was so good, that I guess people did think of her as a product, made by the record company.

Snubbed again (108,625)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
I think that I have figured out why MC's contribution to the music industry is slighted and so marginalized. When MC came onto the music scene, she came right at the height of Whitney's success. In fact, her arrival on the music stage was much bigger than Whitney's arrival. MC wasn't suppose to be bigger and sell more records than Whitney. It is like she is being punished for writing her songs, having her own singing style, and resonating so much with her fans and the pop music world more than Whitney did. I typed the following in as a Google search. "Is Mariah Carey's no Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominee marginalized?" The AI answer that came back was shocking, but so true as to why MC was snubbed a second time.

Salt n Pepa and Outkast were inducted, and yet they haven't done much in the last 20 years. MJ wasn't professional when his last album flopped. Aretha looked down on tons of artists over the years. But Mariah has to be humble, consistent, and professional. Double standards, anyone?

Thank you, Bill. It is great to see your post. I am glad that you are doing well. I should have known MC's debut album was your favorite. I wonder what MC and Ben would have created if the two did more songs together. I think their debut collaborations are up there with Diane Warren's greatest 90s songs. 1990-1995 MC was not long enough before she released Butterfly. Sent From Up Above is my favorite debut album song. I wonder if there are more Ben Margulies songs out there in a vault.

Bless you Bobby, I still check in from time to time. Truth is I'm just not a fan of modern day Mariah. Don't get me wrong, I will always love her more than any of you all ever will lol, but I prefer Mariah lamenting about loving someone till the end of time or being alone in love, rather than telling me to GTFO and bragging about riding a D with Ariana Grande.
Anyway, to answer your question, my favourite album is of course the untouchable debut. There is something so magical about those Carey-Margulies compositions, and her voice never sounded as good. That deep, rich tone full of volume and timbre. Oh how I miss it. As for my favourite song, aside from All I Want for Christmas Is You and Vision of Love which I consider separate entities, it would be the regular album version of Fantasy. It came out during the peak of my fandom and hearing it the first time on the radio, I still wistfully think back to that day now and again.
I also enjoy long walks on the beach and quiet nights in. Hope you've been well.

I saw this performance of [When You Believe] a few years ago and I had forgotten how much Mariah and Whitney's personalities matter to a song. To be honest, it's not really worth it. There's nothing new in this release. I was hoping she'd at least include some leftover tracks from that era.
