I just wonder, did Melissa make MC aware before the deal was sealed? If not, I see MC moving on to somebody else this year. |

This was a song she wrote for some boy in 2005 if I recall correctly, I never listened to his version but from the little clips I heard from the Oprah show, he [sang] it exactly like she does on her own version, which by the way I was over the moon when she finally released it on "The Rarities". This brings up the issue of the demos for "Butterfly" and the Allure songs. I find it very hard to believe those songs don't have her own version. Mariah you need to check that magic vault very well. Lol. My life will be complete if I hear her sing "Last Chance", "Head Over Heels" and "Where are You Christmas" from that era, [it] is very important for me, that "Butterfly" period was when I became a die hard fan and that version of Mariah. |

Craving MC (102,047)

(Tuesday 10 January 2023; 23:43)
I don't know about y'all, but I am seriously craving some new MC music. It's bad when you are buying MC promotional vinyls on Ebay. So far I have purchased some rare promos My All/Stay Awhile, DFAU -Juelz Santana Bones Thugs Harmony and TTR remixes. At this point, I would be happy for a Scott Storch X Mariah Carey EP. Now, that's a collaboration album. |

Camouflage (102,039)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Saturday 7 January 2023; 10:36)
I have always thought the same thing about how the breakdown of Mariah's and Nick's marriage affected her. Imagine writing a song like Love Story that came to fruition and looking so in love in the video. Then four years later being so devastated and hurt about the breakdown of your marriage, you succumb to writing Camouflage, Cry, and Faded. So sad. |

Almost 10 years from release, I now fully understood what impact their relationship brought to Mariah. It's a very sad and painful song. Maybe the hurt that she got from it is so debilitating that it also broke her instrument. Prior 2014 she sounds good, fluid and powerful. Fast forward to 2014, an abrupt change in her attitude and vocals happened. What a sad love story is. I really think their relationship damaged her in a very devastating psychological manner as she is really different on her interviews 2014 onwards vs 2013 below. |

Yes I agree. I wish Mariah would do more songs for movies. Below are the songs that she did for movies, or originally supposed to do: 1. Hero - originally for "Hero" film starring Andy Garcia 2. When You Believe - for The Prince of Egypt 3. Glitter album - for that Glitter film 4. 100% - originally for Precious film 5. Mesmerized - originally for The Paperboy film 6. Almost Home - for Oz The Great and Powerful 7. In The Mixed - for that tv show Mixed-Ish 8. The Star - for The Star film
I wish that in 1999 (Rainbow era) Mariah would be chosen and perfect for Bond girl for that James Bond movie, The World Is Not Enough, replacing Denise Richards for Dr Christmas Jones (Christmas? hello Mariah is perfect for that character name heheh) and singing the soundtrack "After Tonight" for the theme song for that movie. The Latin R&B ballad with the touch of Spanish guitar would be sexy for James Bond song in the 90's. |

I was thinking today that it is a shame that MC hasn't written and sung more songs for movies. Someone with her songwriting and singing abilities should have done about 15-20 movie songs by this stage in her career. I wonder why there has been a lack of movie song opportunities. |

Yes. It's a shame this jam only made it to #16 on the Hot 100. I think it was because a video wasn't released at the same time. L.A. Reid was going to release Say Something as the first single when he changed his mind and decided that It's Like That would be released first. |

Rainbow 25th anniversary (101,979)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Wednesday 28 December 2022; 20:52)
Rainbow's 25th anniversary will be in 2024. I tweeted MC and Sony Legacy today for vinyl boxset to celebrate its release. I didn't realize that the album has only sold 3 million copies so far. Our chances of seeing any type of anniversary release is problem slim to zero because of no extra tracks. But I would love to see a pride version with Frank Ocean (How Much), Lil Nas X (Did I Do That?), Sam Smith (Crybaby), Billy Porter (TGIFY), and Daley (Can't Take That Away). Only time will tell. |

According to Talk of the Charts, Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" is challenging "All I Want For Christmas Is You" for the #1 spot on next week's Billboard Hot 100 based off of early projections. Brenda's lead over Mariah on Spotify is up from ~25% last week to over 30% in the first three days of this tracking week. Paired with the incoming collapse of holiday radio, Mariah is expected to lose more points via radio, making this week's race close. |

When you have the world's attention and you are shining, there is always someone who is going to try to take your shine away. Walter A. is bitter because no one is calling him to collaborate with. His sound is outdated and quite frankly boring in today's pop music world. MC made him famous and now he is always speaking negatively about MC around this time every year. Ryan Tedder took his place in the music industry. Hopefully, we will get a Ryan Tedder/MC collaboration soon. Why you mad Walter A.? |

Walter A seems to be in desperate need of a spotlight on his career. Why does the man insist on being a massive tool when it comes to AIWFC? He's credited and receives half the royalties every year. Get your degree and go write another hit if you're so pressed. Geez. Laugh your way to the bank and give it a rest already. It's giving bitter, girl.
And who's this Chan lady still going on about the QOC shizz? Wasn't the case thrown out or something? People will remember Mariah losing the fight for the TM before they'll ever remember her. And that's no shade to her career - she obviously has one. Maybe someday someone will know her outside of being referenced to Mariah. We love everybody.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it. May you have the good fortune to spend it with your loved ones. |

I tend to agree. I don't want Mariah's legacy to be Christmas. I know I'm hard on her live performances but words can express what her music means to me. Through The Rain got me up and to work for years when I was stressed. Right to Dream was my go to when I was drunk and depressed. Outside is my being gay and ostracized in the 90s anthem. Close My Eyes is my PTSD song from being born with all the antics that come from a 15 year old mother and a 21 year old father. All I Want For Christmas is nice. But it's hardly anywhere on the soundtrack of my life. I actually listen to O Holy Night and Oh Santa more. Not because I don't like AIWFCIY, but because I know if I leave the house any time after thanksgiving, I'll hear it. |

Looking at the CBS website, technically her special is still listed under the programming but there is no promo on the sight for the special. Moreover, the promo photos are not there at all. This is worrisome for the only dimension of her career that still exists. I only hope her voice isn't totally gone and that she isn't ill or in pain. We wish her only the best. My sense of it is that her focus on the use of the whistle register has ruined her chords. I'm just not sure. Very sad indeed. |

I'm definitely not here to gloat. I'm actually perplexed. I called voice deterioration in 1998/99 when I saw her on The View and Whitney Houston embarrassed her at the Oscar's. I called lip syncing in 1999 when every climax to Heartbreaker and Can't Take That Away was flawless yet she was a raspy struggle through the verses. But I was attacked for it and called not a real fan. The time I was attacked the most was when I called the 2006 Grammys a master cut and paste job. So to see all of this hoopla over these Christmas concerts baffles me. To me honestly, Mariah always sounds this bad. Pull up the Global Citizen concert from last summer. That Hero is almost identical to the MSG one a few days ago. That's why I wasn't spending $400 to see her. She got me once with the Charmbracelet tour. The other thing that you guys don't realize is that they are going to edit and dub the hell out of the Christmas show for CBS. What'll be interesting is how she'll respond when people start juxtaposing the live verses the televised. I take no joy in saying I'm right here and to be honest MC has surprised me too many times for me to say it's over for the voice. I said that in 99 and she shocked the hell out of me with Home for the Holidays in 2001. I said it again in 2012 and she shocked the hell out of me with the Jimmy Fallon's impromptu. I said it again in 2016 and she shocked the hell out of me with Stay the Night on Twitter. All I've wanted since 1997 on Oprah was for her to tell us what the hell happened. But like Stacey reminded me ... what the hell is she supposed to say? |

The critics are going to rip the CBS show to threads on the 21st. Who knows, maybe the same editor who saved The Adventures of Mimi DVD can make the CBS show watchable. I just don't know. I am really worried about MC's career right now. Who would have thought in 1990 that our beloved Mariah Carey would totally lose her voice? |
