What’s next? (111,856)
by Shezz from Pk

Word on the internet is that she's not giving up on HFIA and has some things planned, probably with the deluxe. We're just two weeks until Christmas season - I think she will transition to that soon and focus on getting back her Hot 100 crown (solo this time).
She should ride that wave into the new year and then give HFIA another solid push in the new year with a digital deluxe release in January with some high profile collaborations / remixes on it like Paul McCartney and SZA that she was already working on.
The album release and Mimi tour dates should have been planned better to give her enough time post release but no use crying over that now. She will give us a few more songs to love I'm sure soon enough. Then she should take the entire year off and relax.

Mariah and Gamma (111,775)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
I agree. She's happy and producing good music and lets be honest in this streaming age and as a legacy artist, no amount of brilliant songs is going to get her to sell Emancipation numbers.
The only thing is she nor Gamma must be phased by the numbers or chart positions. The fact that she posted the [Billboard] chart update means she's happy and has made peace with it.
We all want the deluxe version of HFIA with the new [SZA] collab and Paul [McCartney] on My Love. If the album dies after the first week, they might not be inclined to release the deluxe version. Maybe they can do just a digital version and not invest in physicals.
I wonder if the live snippets she posted for HFIA and IYF were part of something bigger planned or they were just done for pre release promo.
Surely after 7 years in the making this can't be it for such a beautiful well received album. These sporadic Celebration of Mimi tour dates are just so poorly planned by her team.

Mariah and Gamma (111,773)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
"Gamma is the right place for her, there's not a lot of pressure to produce, and it's all about her, not a hundred features. She has the best career now, she's just spoiled the fans that she has to be charting because a big part of her career is built on being a hitmaker. But she's doing just fine, and she's happy, and so should we. If Mariah makes more HFIA with middling chart position and be able to do what she wants, I would be happy."
I couldn't have said it better myself. People just need to relax, support her, and enjoy the music. None of her one-off projects since "Caution" have matched the quality of any track on "HFIA", and I'm very happy about that.

Mariah doesn't want to tour anymore (111,554)

Thank God she’s finally being open about not being happy and comfortable with touring anymore in the Grammy interview. I hope after Christmas she takes a long extended break for herself. I wonder if the deluxe album version will come out before or after Christmas.

Head scratcher (111,547)
by Shezz from Pk

I think it's Mariah and or Gamma thinking those two were more mainstream and younger sounding to appeal to the TikTok/streaming generation. I don't know when she'll realize she doesn't need to cater to them. Not like they paid off anyway.
Here's hoping they ditch PTS asap and get behind IYF or IWAI while the album's hot. NII would be amazing with a raw and vulnerable video though somebody will have to tie her hands.

Head scratcher (111,541)
by Bill from the UK

I don't understand why Type Dangerous and Sugar Sweet were chosen to launch the album when you had compositions like In Your Feelings, Nothing Is Impossible, and I Won't Allow It that are so much better, different to any other launch she's done before, and better represent the album's sound. It's to the point they sound somewhat out of place and I find myself skipping them so I stay in that 70s lane. I can't stop playing this album, it's so good.

New video (111,540)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
I love the album except for this song that I ironically can't play. The only skip for me. It goes nowhere. The video suits the song. I'm glad they didn't put in any money on it. A wasted opportunity though I love the other songs .Paak was involved in.
The three ballads are amazing. Nothing Is Impossible and My Love are stellar.
Although I love HFIA, it would have been a home run if the second verse was done in a straight forward delivery like the first. There was no JD to tell Mumbleriah off I suppose. I prefer her vocals for this and In Your Feelings in the live snippets she posted earlier. Voice sounded fuller and richer. Sounded like she had a bit of a cold the day she recorded In Your Feelings. Still really like it though.
I Wont Allow It is another great one. A love child of Levitating and You Don't Know What to do. People say she's channeling here inner Dua Lipa but Mariah has been doing disco way before Dua Lipa made it popular.
Surprisingly, Mi is my most repeated track so far. Trust Mariah to make obnoxious lyrics sound so ethereal. I feel it is up there with her most honest lyrics ever. She's all about that life now and she's owning it. Like Randy said JD said, she wants to be a rapper. Atleast she makes it sound so damn good.
Confetti and Champagne and Jesus I Do have grown on me. C&C more so. Type Dangerous and Sugar Sweet I have already heard to the ground so I'm skipping them currently though I do really like both.
Overall, quite happy with the album. I could have done with a few more songs for sure. Hopefully the deluxe version she mentioned in her Apple notes will see the light of day and include her Sza collaboration.

Article: Album review: Mariah Carey is Here For It All (111,465)
by Shezz from Pk
| |

Everybody must keep in mind that all these reviewers have never really raved about any of her albums. Emotions was not good enough, Music Box was too full of generic ballads, Butterfly was too urban, Glitter was a calamity and she had apparently lost her voice (did they even hear it?).
Rolling Stone gave Emancipation 3 stars. That way HFIA is in good company. Now they're complaining it's too many typical Mariah ballads when we've been dying for some Mariah ballads. One more sleep then we get to review it for ourselves. The only review that matters.
One thing I have noted though Bobby A - Jesus I do has barely been noticed by any reviewer. Here's hoping we all find something we love in another 12 hours.

The AU Project is by Luke Wyland. He is an Australian music reviewer. MC has never been huge in Australia. He is probably not a fan of R&B soul and gospel music. Is it true that Australians are very serious people and don't really find humour in a lot of things?

Good critics for the new album (111,388)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|

It really is crazy how there is so much buzz and excitement with the album with two singles that barely charted. I guess it's all the promo she's been doing - maybe the long 3 months have helped build up the excitement and suspense. Her album week promo is jam packed. I am really surprised she is still not doing the Kelly Clarkson show knowing how big of a lamb she is. Maybe she stays away from it because it is so music focused.
I hope she does a performance or 2 during tv promo week. My dream would be an acoustic Here For It All performance. She can even pre tape it if she's really not confident to perform live on tv. I doubt there's any performance planned but I hope I'm proven wrong.
If she does 100k first week, all her efforts will have paid off. 4 days to go.

SZA (111,365)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
Something between them for sure with [Apple Music] on the 24th now after MC sent her that response that Apple Music posted with an eyes emoji. I feel if they have recorded a collaboration, they're not going to release a remix or a song not listed on the album at this point.
Very likely that it's an interview, with Sza interviewing MC. Though all the sudden love exchange between them in the last two weeks clearly points to them having cooked something together. I wish that was on the album it would have really helped the album sales.
Also, the iheart performance was pretty okay. One of her only performances I've actually managed to fully watch in the last few years. Mostly lipped yes but some decent involvement and energy, better outfit and the great hair.
5 days to go.

Do we think Mariah has a collaboration already recorded with SZA? When she was asked about artists she currently listens to she mentioned SZA which I mean I get it. SZA is a good artist but this is the first time Mariah dropped her name. Could this be a clue and now SZa sending the flowers? I hope so. I think they can make good music together.

Sarah McLachlan vs Mariah Carey (111,317)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
I love Sarah McLachlan. One of my favourite artists ever (after MC). She has always been a grounded, simple (for lack of a better word) and intellectual person that never ever cared for the celebrity life who lived like an ordinary person and worked with animal shelters. Her music has always been at the crux, never her relationships, or lifestyle. Quite the antithesis of Mariah though I have always been more emotionally drawn towards Mariah and her music and her life.
She has been so under the radar it'll be a major feat for her new album to even chart.
Rumor has it the Anderson .Paak duet video will be released with the album next week as the third single.
7 years are now down to 7 days.

Sarah McLachlan vs Mariah Carey (111,308)
by T from USA
| |
|
|
So Sarah McLachlan is kind of in the same situation as Mariah Carey right now. She is 57 years old (MC is 55 years old) and she hasn't released an album for eleven years (MC is at 7 years). So the similarities are there. But that's where they end. Sarah is doing amazing interviews where she just comes across as a real human being, who has been through things, is raising teens and has been able to create a new album. She seems so likeable and relatable. Now granted, she never had the pressure Mariah had, and never reached the heights Mariah reached, but maybe something can be said for a career that was totally in one's control vs a career that was so controlled. It's a shame Mariah didn't get the freedom Sarah always had since the start. But again, then maybe Mariah wouldn't have sold 200 million albums and singles.

New Here For It All video (111,188)
by Shezz from Pk

I really liked the clip of HFIA. I heard say it in one of the interviews that she wrote it a couple of years ago and knew she wanted to name the album after it ever since.
At first after the Selfridges snippet I thought maybe she wrote it for her kids but it sounds like it must have been for Bryan.
.Paak is too recent for a song that's two years old. Speaking of, I know MC is busy with promo and touring but he's nowhere to be seen. Maybe he was just helping her get the album together and they aren't romantically involved?

Here For It All streaming party countdown (111,133)
by Shezz from Pk

Edward I think Whitney’s first solo single was You Give Good Love which peaked at number 3 on the Hot 100. [Webmaster: Whitney's first single was "Hold me" from 1984.]
So Whitney probably holds the most consecutive number 1s record but not her first seven.

Here For It All streaming party countdown (111,129)
by Edward from USA

"With the lead single 'Emotions' ('You're So Cold' was initially considered) she became the first and only artist ever to send her first five singles to #1 on the Hot 100. Legend behavior and it was only album #2."
That information is inaccurate since Whitney Houston set a record by sending seven consecutive singles to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 between 1985 and 1988. She broke the previous record held by The Beatles (six consecutive #1's).
"Saving All My Love for You" (1985) "How Will I Know" (1986) "Greatest Love of All" (1986) "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" (1987) "Didn't We Almost Have It All" (1987) "So Emotional" (1987) "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" (1988)
Mariah was getting close, she had five straight #1's before "Can't Let Go" broke the streak. If Sony hadn't pulled the single from shelves, she could have tied "The Beatles" of six consecutive #1's. But since her later Emotions singles didn't top the chart, she wouldn't have surpassed Whitney.

Jamie, what I don't get is why Mariah puts herself in those sky-high heels when she knows people will drag her for not moving. She could easily wear something more comfortable. Did you see the height of those heels? I don't see the point of wearing heels if you can't gracefully rock them.

Yes it has been obvious for a while that she does have some issues but she's not open like Celine to discuss her issues with the media or public and I guess we have to respect that. She was never a great performer but she did used to physically do the best with what she got from running around stage to her crazy hand movements even when she was lip syncing.
I appreciate that she still is putting in all the effort with this new era and album. She still has the music in her even though she can't put on a show like she used to or give interviews like she used to. Makes me sad when lambs rip her apart for not moving enough or having low energy. I get that they just want her to be the best that they know she can be but anyone who has followed her closely in the last 10 years should know that she's obviously not doing it on purpose.
Her stylist is another matter now.

VMAs (111,021)

Really happy she got the best RnB video as well. Performance was pretty much as expected. I'd give it a 7. I wonder why they cut it down to 5 minutes from the usual 10 minutes given to the Vanguard performance. I'm sure Mariah wasn't complaining. Best part of it was of course her interaction with Ari. The body suit era needs to end though. A nice short dress would've been more flattering. All in all another good promo for the new era. I think she'll be so done with the promo when the album finally comes out.

I have noticed that too. It's like we all knew 2025 would be the start of a new era. Bill, Dove, Lighty from China and Libra Lamb are back. We welcomed this year Giovanni, Lambi, and Baby from Dreamville. T is posting more this year. Randy came out of hibernation. Stacey makes me laugh. Terna and Shezz are great analysts. Mimi is our Tamron Hall with her great insight and commentary. Zachariah is my best friend now. Edward looks for my Saturday post to refute my claims. Lol. I don't want the number #1 slot at the end of the year. I want another board member to be #1. We are all family in the land of Mariah Carey.

Definitely started the era one month too early. I think a lot has to do with all the international randomly scattered tour dates that are not even for the album. She probably signed on to them much before she knew her album would be ready this year. It is what it is. Some other artists have even longer spans. Sabrina Carpenter's 2 month time is perfect. She didn't even have to put out another single.

I "really really" hope the album version is just her. It would be like having another new unheard song to listen to on the album. Problem is, when she was releasing the track titles in her story one by one, it clearly said Sugar Sweet featuring Shensea and Kehlani. I suppose we need to wait a month to know but I wouldn't put it past team MC to have messed up and missed them out. I'm hoping they messed up in the stories and not the tracklist post. Billboard is just reporting what they saw posted I think.

I agree with you Shezz, especially after Nostradamus' two posts yesterday. His descriptions of the two songs led me to match them up to two song titles that have been posted on online along with Jesus I Do and Here For It All. I won't say them here because I want you to be surprised when the tracklist is released. Nostradamus posted the description of the two songs like he was sent the album because he is a journalist. I am starting to think Nostradamus on X is really Roger Friedman from Showbiz 411.

Bobby A, in a way I'm glad those two are the radio/TikTok friendly songs which means the rest of the album is less "trendy" and trying to capture the younger audience and is more mature. Over the last few albums, her deep/album cuts have always been superior to the singles. I loved "Giving me life", "8th grade", "Caution" and "One mo gen" from Caution. I'm looking forward to the 70s inspired Anderson .Paak song, Paul McCartney cover, Clark Sisters song and HFIA. I'm sure there'll be a lot of good songs. At this point I hope lambs stop stressing about chart success for her singles. Even if she were to release "Heartbreaker" today, she'd barely chart. I'm just happy she's finally putting something out that she enjoyed making and is proud of (despite what her demeanor says). Nostradamous says one song is very reminiscent of "Through the rain" - though I really doubt they've listened to any songs yet themselves. I hope the VMAs performance is well produced and executed. Apparently right after, she'll head to Brazil early to shoot a video and a press tour. May God give her the energy to pull off all the promotion well everywhere. She'll have lots to do in the US when she's back. Personally, I don't think she's disinterested in the project at all, it's just her physical and psychological state that she can't control.

Here For It All (110,692)
by Bobby A from United States

Journalist Stevie Musicfeelings posted on X that he has listened to HIFA. He said the the album is "quite different from Caution, a bit more soulful and even gospel-like towards the end. Stevie said, "Above all, the two singles are pretty well chosen in my opinion. They're the most radio friendly." The last part of his comment has caused some Lambs to have some concern for any HIFA future singles' performance on the charts. He said that he will give more individual song feedback once MC releases the tracklist. Do you think he's saying that the two chosen were singles for a reason or that the two are the only two radio friendly songs on the album?

I definitely agree that this era was launched a month too early. I think 2 months prior was more than enough or she should have dropped the album in August but I suppose it wasn't ready to be able to do that. Though other artists are taking even longer to drop albums after releasing singles, like Jade and Ed Sheeran. I also think it was bad planning. She was stuck with global touring dates she had committed to prior. Like why is the Celebration of Mimi tour going sporadically until the end of the year when she has a brand new album coming out?
Feels like she's stuck between being a current pop artist and a legacy artist and she's trying to balance both.
Also, she needs to realize that singles aimed to draw in the younger audience won't fly. Release a ballad if you believe in it. They will both perform the same.
Rumours are that LA Reid has secured her a ten minute performance at the VMAs. It'll probably be akin to her Billboard icon performance with TD and SS in the mix.
Imagine if she premiered Here For It All there with just the piano (I am not even expecting her to live sing it because God knows she wont even attempt those vocals live).
I found the clip a bit screechy at first but it has really grown on me. Finally some deeper stronger lyrics. The lyrics make me wonder if she wrote them for Roc and Roe. Or even herself.
I think there will be some solid songs on the album that'll make us scratch our heads even though I really like TD and SS.

Jaker for once we agree. People will love a song and then when it doesn't do well, it was a bad single choice. Mariah does it too. One of my favorite songs is Through The Rain and Mariah has bad talked that. Although during the promotional tour, she said it was an anthem. The same with Bye Bye, which I love. Mariah talks about how that was a bad single choice, but she promoted it everywhere. No one knows whether a song will be a hit because if they did, everyone would have number ones. I knew the first time I heard Type: Dangerous and Sugar Sweet they weren't hits. Cool songs. Not hits. Can I bring Adele up for the fifty million time? Why does only Adele understand that a heartfelt ballad as a lead single will go to number one because it reaches across generations and music delivery formats? I was disgusted to watch Hello make 25 go diamond and Easy on Me make 30 sell in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, and for as much as I love those two songs, I'm sitting by thinking, Mariah does ballads better than anyone. And yet she keeps churning out modern r&b. Final thought and it's still a repeat. I don't know what Mariah or Gamma thought releasing these songs so early on an album so short. Was there a plan B if the songs didn't work? Type Dangerous shoulda came out the last week of July and Sugar Sweet shoulda came out the last week of August for a September 26 release. But quiet as it's kept, I kinda think Cardi B is gonna struggle. The music audience is fickle. We will see. That's all.

So in one of the interviews she just said she will be performing 4 songs from HFIA at Sandringham. Bobby A I'm sure you caught that. I hope one of them is the title track which she said has gospel and jazz tangents. If the leaked song titles are to be believed, she wrote that with Daniel Moore. Very unlike her to perform unreleased songs at a concert, that even a festival kind.
While it's taken me a while to get used to her 2025 interview energy, some of them haven't been all that bad. Excited for Alan Carr on Monday. I do hope she starts talking about the album soon, I understand she doesn't want to reveal too much about it this early but then why do all these album interviews. I suppose they're more for her to tell the gp she's doing non Christmas music and she'll probably do more in depth music ones at the time of release like that Genius one she did with Caution.
I love how she was discussing her "defrosting" with an interviewer with such a straight face.
While I did like TD and SS, they're certainly not up there with her more iconic singles from the 2000s. According to insiders, SS remixes are coming soon. Will be interesting if that's true. I'm glad TD is having some success on certain charts. Both the singles, though not MC singles strong, are definitely top 40 worthy for today's music.
I do hope there are a good amount of songs with more mature and meaningful lyrics on the album. SS is a reinterpretation of Honey of sorts, at least a similar subject matter but Honey was written with so much more sophistication.
I have made peace with her 2025 voice but she has full control over her penmanship still.
I understand that she is still chasing success and numbers and that's why she released these singles hoping to grab the attention of the younger audience that drives the streaming based charts now but I really do hope she has more.
Kudos for all the radio interview efforts - time for some podcasts and tv appearances.

Sugar Sweet video clip (110,246)

Jamie, I don't think that's a clip for the official video. It's another home video clip for TikTok/promotion like she did for TD as well. She looks good, yes the editing is off. She looks so beautiful when she smiles, needs to do that more than these serious expressions that read more lost than sexy. Looking forward to seeing how she performs SS in Brighton. She's going to bring the energy again like the Capital ball.

Sugar Sweet video clip (110,238)

So Mariah has shown a clip of the new [Sugar Sweet] video. What you guys think? She loves a stairway I'll give her that, remember I Don't. I love the ensemble, she looks really nice. I just wish her face would show it too, she looks miserable, she looked happier in the kitchen clip she did. There's a part in the video where her eyes go to the left like she's looking for direction, it's a poor edit if that's gonna be in the final video. She looks nice, I just don't think it's going to rescue the song.

Sugar Sweet lyrics: "Cause I will absolutely get the ring"? (110,188)
by Shezz from Pk

That's exactly what I thought as well. "I will absolutely get the ring" is another way of saying "I know that you'll be back boy." He'll call her and want to see her again. I don't think she means "I know he's going to marry me eventually." How ridiculous would that be. We need her to clear that up for us.
I love the Harper's Bazaar cover and shoot.

Sugar Sweet lyrics: "Cause I will absolutely get the ring"? (110,146)

Oh I thought she meant "the ring" as in "phone call", ie she's not worried because she knows he'll be back, not going anywhere, will reach back out to her. Perhaps it's a double entendre.
The song is very catchy. I've listened to it several times back to back, so this could be the one. It really gives me the "Mariah is back" feel... like a very enjoyable album is on the way.
