A Daydream release in 2024 (106,282) by Shezz from Pk Haha Mimi L has been paying attention to Taylor's lyrics. To be honest I quite liked Folklore and Evermore. Midnights grew on me. All the songs on this album are pleasant but tend to blur into one long two hour song. I read an interview of her's (Taylor) recently where she said she knows her years are numbered now that she's crossed 30 and she wants to work as hard as possible and create as much music as she can while she's still popular. I didn't quite know how to feel about that. On one hand I appreciated her awareness, on the other hand I felt like she's making herself into the fast food equivalent of music. Of course every artist wants success and thrives on it but it felt like commercial success is paramount to her before all. Which then lead me to think this was Mariah in the 90s. She created the most albums, most regularly while she was commercially successful. When they stopped selling as much, she slowed down majorly. I suppose that's human nature (and business). I enjoy a few of her songs and I do think she's talented but her PR team and fans put her on this god like pedestal which is too much. I feel like her material is the same as when she was 16 only with a more polished writing. I find it amazing how she continues to bash people and no one bats an eye. In the new album she again brings up Kim K and says her mom wished Kim was dead and I thought wow imagine if someone said that about her. Same with her bashing Matty Healy (that guy from what I have seen is a thorough mess) but at the same time she is lashing out at her fans for being shocked about his relationship with her, asking them to stop "bitching and moaning" and calling them names. She knows her songs send her fans in a frenzy to go attack her exes and she makes sure they know which ex she's talking about by putting specific clues in her songs and then pretending to be shocked when they decode it. She talks multiple times about cheating on her partners but then is pissed when her partner does the same to her and her fans also just causally forget that she is also doing something wrong. Uhmmm Mimi's deep cuts are MIA (106,156) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Did we get the full set list? I'm surprised there's no DFAU. She could have done a medley of One and Only and So Lonely. I saw she started with VOL. That's odd since the show is supposed to be a celebration of TEOM and she had ILT, SIO as perfect openers. Was there a reason behind her doing older songs for a majority of the show and then TEOM later? If so why no songs from albums after TEOM? All things aside she looks stunning, the gold dress she wears at the beginning of the TEOM set was beautiful and very TEOM coded. What I loved about some of the videos are that she was walking around by herself and even did a mini almost sprint. All these visually creates a more engaging show rather than using dancers as crutches. So she'll only get better. I hope with each show she also stops relying too much on the teleprompter but as always her shows getting better with more dates. The stage looks nice and moody very TEOM coded. Las Vegas (106,152) by Shezz from Pk She fooled me first with the low resolution videos coming out. I thought wow she really did work hard for these shows and got her voice back. To be fair, it is her current voice - I think it's clear now she's not getting her confidence back to sing them live. Her voice sounds good though. She looked great, not as stiff as her first Christmas shows, she'll only get better on stage. I didn't see enough clips to see how much she was singing live but her 2 mostly live staples VOL and Hero seemed majorly lipped. Still hoping for MC16 sometime soon. Las Vegas (106,147) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway I can't decide whether Mariah is actually singing some parts or the vocals are all pre recorded. In Without You, I think she sings to a back track first, but sings live some parts of the chorus, it's hard to tell, she has gotten much better at lip synching. Someone subtweeted the insiders post talking about how Mariah's music is coming soon and she has a video ready with big stars and hasn't rested at all. I hope that's true. She's not gotten anywhere with her midtempo RnB for a while now. Butterfly Lounge on the other hand is a total jazz project. How exciting is that? Lord only knows when any of these projects will see the light of day. I wish she had picked one project to focus on and not so many simultaneously. According to the insider, a Shawn Mendes collaboration was recorded a year ago and she is working on something with Janet Jackson as well. Maybe it's a duets album. I remember reading about it on Billboard in late 2005. I honestly don't think radio will ever show her that love again even if the songs on mc16 are better than the ones on TEOM. I think we're gonna get a varied album that'll have a bit of everything for everyone. She's been working on it for years and she really wants to give it her best it seems. She's picked the toughest year to do it but I hope that doesn't scare her away. Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Ariana, Dua Lipa, Katy Perry and even Rihanna's highly anticipated comeback album all due in the new two quarters. It just occured to me (105,598) by Shezz from Pk True. Mariah and Ariana should have collaborated on a new song. After a couple of listens the song did grow on me and I heard it on repeat a lot but I asked myself why I myself or others didn't like it more: First of all, it's not a new song. Even though Mariah adds a lot of layers to this song and her new verse, it's still 99% the same song that A) has been played out and B) people didn't love much to begin with. I didn't find Mariah's vocals as grating or out of place as some people did. If Mariah, Ariana and Max Martin put them through - this is the style of singing they obviously wanted from her. I don't believe this remix is tanking because of Mariah's vocals. This song was on its way out of the top 40 anyway. It will push it back to the top 15 for a week and of course the original will be credited as it has more streams/downloads I'm sure. The opposite was true for Big Energy. It was a breakout hit and steadily climbing the charts when the remix came out and it just pushed it more. That wad good timing, this was not. It is certainly not the disaster many people think it is. It is just another building block for MC 16 which I'm sure will have the lyrics, music and vocals for all of us. Yes, And, I Don't (105,563) by Jamie from UK I think this track is what it is, I like the song. I liked it when it was just Ariana. Having Mariah on it now singing up beat is music to my ears. Is it Mariah's best performance no, but is it really her worst? I'd rather have this over I Don't any day. I think we need to cut her some slack, she's never gonna blow us away as she once did, she's 54 this year and unfortunately has declining vocals which I'm sure she herself is very well aware of. I was actually quite happy with her vocals on this track, let's be honest we've heard worse over the last few years. For a long time now we've been asking for Mariah to get herself together, she's finally started to clean up her act, her public presence and persona is back up to where it should be, her PR is back to where it should be and she's getting lots of attention and respect from fellow artists. Yet we continue to dissect everything she does and bash her when she finally does something positive. I would love Mariah to have her full 90's vocals back and to some degree her personality, but unfortunately it's not gonna happen. Vocal decline has happened for various reasons and she suffered a major breakdown which has changed her as it would. Not forgetting she's been living this famous life for a long time now and as much as stars say they haven't changed. They always do over time one way or another, hey non famous people change over time believe it or not. Nobody is the same or doing the same things as they once did 25 plus years ago. But instead of tearing her down let's give her praise for still being here, making music and gracing us with her presence for nearly 34 years, I'd much rather have her still with us than not. I believe even if Mariah were to have released one of her signature hits today - bonafide hits such as Dreamlover, Always Be My Baby, Honey, My All, Fantasy etc - she would struggle to crack the top 20 of the BB Hot 100. Mass market is not going to stream or download her enough today to make her break the top 10. Also I agree Mimi L, I think they genuinely do like each other and a smart move on Mariah's part definitely. I'm not counting on this song being her 20th n1. I don't think the remix will take over the original and there won't be so much love from Arianators as with a new single. Now about Mariah and Ariana not liking each other, my opinion is it's not true. Ariana clearly idolizes Mariah and this isn't new. Even in her documentary she gets emotional when Mariah's team contacts her to be on her video. And as for Mariah, I feel like she doesn't really bother to mingle with people she doesn't care for. In the beginning she probably wasn't pleased because of the blatant "next Mariah" label that was pushed for Ariana's launch. But over the years I think that changed. Lastly in my opinion at this point everything is fair game, the music industry is no longer the same, you gotta play the game so if Mariah is using her connections to gain newer audience, then why not? In fact it's smart right before the next album. It's smart business move. Also I don't know how true this is but I saw somewhere that it's actually the opposite and because Ariana got a lot of recent backlash for getting with Ethan Slater she lost goodwill and her single didn't do well (despite being #1) so they're bringing on Mariah to boost Ariana too. Mariah still has a lot of pull whenever Ariana and Mariah are mentioned together it does lead to a lot of publicity so I think it is benefitting them both. As for the insider account, wow, I had read somewhere they have made multiple posts about MC that never came true (although I personally never checked the account), but what you said makes sense that maybe they weren't wrong but Mariah's plans changed, so judging by what Pedro said in his post about the insider claiming her new single and video are ready to launch makes me excited for a strong roll out. It being called "musical style" I wonder if it will be like a visual album. I admire your resilience, however I do understand what everyone is talking about when they say they get affected. Not everyone has the same strength and a lot of us have been straight up bullied by him, called names, all for having a passion for Mariah's music. While I let most things slide sometimes a few things are triggering. Were all adults here (some may not behave like it lol) but when people are out here calling you a c u next Tuesday, and lord knows what else Eric had to censor it does trickle into your personal life. There could be other things people are dealing with and the last thing they need to be is bullied on a message board and that's why easier to just take breaks and come back hoping for the best.
