(48,050) by Bill from the UK Mariah has never said who the muse was for Subtle Invitation, The Roof, Did I Do That, Babydoll, Circles, and I Wish You Well (along with virtually every other song in her catalogue), and likely never will. All these posts are speculation. Almost everybody on this message board has attributed Thirsty to Nick, when Mariah never has, and probably never will, say who it is about, and when there are just as many reasons to support it not being about him as there are reasons to say it is. Now That I Know is perhaps Mariah realising she was more to Tommy than just a bit on the side, but again, we will never know for certain. It's fun to speculate and guess, but very annoying when people present their theories as facts. You don't know anymore than the rest of us. (Monday 24 November 2014; 22:33)

Slipping Away theory (47,920) by Bill from the UK I don't know a fan alive who doesn't love this song. There can be many reasons why a song is left off an album. One common reason back in the 90s was space. Cassette tapes and vinyl could only hold so much music, and both were popular formats in the mid 90s. Artists have also left tracks off because they felt the song didn't fit with the rest of the album. The theory with the most credibility though is buried in the song's subject matter. It is clearly about Tommy and their tempestuous relationship, so maybe he made the executive decision to leave it off, or maybe she wrote it for catharsis purposes with no intention of ever having it grace the album. Marian did comment that she had to fight tooth and nail to get Looking In on the Daydream album, but we'll never know until Mariah says why, if indeed she ever does. One of life's mysteries that one of her greatest songs remains relatively unknown, unheard, and unloved. (Saturday 15 November 2014; 10:01)

Baby / Emotions (47,851) by Bill from the UK Thank you for posting the Emotions clip from Adelaide Baby, I agree it was an absolutely fantastic performance and the best rendition of that great tune in a long time. I can't stop watching it. Like you I am praying and praying that Mariah brings her tour to Europe. We miss her so much, she hasn't been here for years now. I loved how Mariah really went for the "when you're looking into my eyes" line, as even in the 90s she always toned that line down. (Saturday 8 November 2014; 10:20)

Walter (47,804) by Bill from the UK Why are we speculating? Walter himself said what happened. Mariah separated from Tommy, and as far as she was concerned, you were either on his side or hers. Walter's hands were tied because he was under contract at Sony. She felt he should have considered their friendship and partnership ahead of that, but he didn't. He said all this in an interview not that long ago. She's moved on and her music grew in breadth as a consequence which was a great thing. It proved that nobody was indispensable. Sure, I love songs like And You Don't Remember, When I Saw You and Anytime You Need A Friend, and I wonder what work they'd be doing now had they remained friends. But at what cost? No We Belong Together, Fly Like A Bird, Can't Take That Away? I feel the same about Ben Margulies. Had their partnership remained, maybe we'd have no Hero, All I Want For Christmas Is You and One Sweet Day. (Tuesday 4 November 2014; 20:42)

Hero in Singapore - wow (47,631) by Bill from the UK That performance of Hero in Singapore was f-ing brilliant. I haven't heard her pull off such a fantastic rendition for about 10 years. Like Anthony, I feel like I could cry. She sang with so much passion, so much heart, so much beauty. I cannot stop listening to it. This is why I love Mariah. There is nobody like her. Nobody could ever come close to matching that beautiful, beautiful rendition. I love her more today than I ever have. (Monday 27 October 2014; 22:45)

I honestly believe that track listing was genuine, and I am so curious as to how The Art Of Letting Go album sound and felt in its original format. Butterfly re-shuffled (47,446) by Bill from the UK With Butterfly's anniversary only passing recently, I wanted to share something I occasionally do with albums I like. I play them on Shuffle, and see what the new track listing order is, and see how it works. Being born in the early 80s, even now I still divide every album into "sides". Here is what Mariah's album looked like, it was quite a different experience. You all should try it. My all Fly away Honey Fourth of July Babydoll Whenever you call The beautiful ones Butterfly Breakdown The roof Outside Close my eyes Close My Eyes made quite a good closing number, and for me having The Roof towards the back end of the album just seemed to make it shine all the more. Mariah's albums don't usually open with a ballad so being drawn in with the silky My All was great. (Wednesday 15 October 2014; 18:41)

Mariah's age (47,437) by Bill from the UK The "extra year" all came about after a journalist for People magazine I believe, said Mariah's drivers license had her birth date as 27 March 1969. In Tina Arena's autobiography, she wrote that when Tommy Motolla met her, he said to her "you're 22 now" when she was actually 27 at the time. She didn't go with it, but maybe it was good marketing at the time to have her be 20 and born "in the seventies"? This could explain why Mariah is forever dodging the question about her age (anniversaries, eternally 12 etc.) and hasn't admitted what her age is since divorcing Tommy. Maybe she doesn't like lying so just avoids it altogether. The one thing to say all this is nonsense though is Mariah's mother naming her Mariah after the song "They Call the Wind Mariah", which was out in 1970. Unless of course that was an elaborate hoax to explain her great stage name, and she was really called Maria or something, but that is far fetched and something one of my friends theorises about. I'm sure she was born in 1970, named after the song, and is 44. Harry Nilsson (47,393) by Bill from the UK The funny thing is Harry Nilsson wasn't even the original artist. It was originally done by a hardly known group called Badfinger, of which Ham and Evans were members. Nilsson changed the arrangement of the song quite noticeably, and Mariah covered "his version", if you will, much like how Michael Bolton mirrored Mariah's arrangements on his Christmas album for Joy To The World and O Holy Night. Lots of people think Nilsson is the writer and original artist because he wrote all his other songs and it was him who made the song popular. Before it was just an album track by an unknown group. Trish / Always Be My Baby (47,385) by Bill from the UK Whoa whoa whoa, hang on a second. ABMB is one of Mariah's greatest songs, and like AIWFCIY, it's a song both die hards and casual fans love. It changes the pace, it's mellow, popular, nostalgic, and I love it when Mariah gets the audience to join in with the "doo doo doops" at the end. I have on many occasions listened to that one song on repeat for hours on end. It never gets old and has never dated. It really is one of the best things she ever did. (Sunday 12 October 2014; 2:59)

Latest clips (47,375) by Bill from the UK AIWFCIY, Without You and Fly Like a Bird sound fantastic. I pray that Mariah will bring her tour to the UK, I would love to see her. I saw her in London for Daydream and Rainbow, but missed out during her Charmbracelet stop off. I so regret not being able to attend. (Saturday 11 October 2014; 13:10)

If Mariah does "go the way of Whitney" as you so eloquently put it, I would be happy that I was supporting her when she needed her fans most of all, as opposed to running her into the ground and kicking her when she was at one of her lowest moments personally. I would never speak to anybody the way you have spoken about Mariah. You can get your point across without being callous and mean spirited. Anthony believes your posts are a display of "love"? Deep down inside you're so cold (47,158) by Bill from the UK I really hope that Mariah never reads any of these messages, because if she did, it would be heart breaking. She does so much for her fans, and for her to read some of these comments would be devastating for her. It's like some people think she is a robot, programmed to produce #1 records and hit high notes. If that doesn't happen, then bad, bad robot. Mariah is a person, a beautiful person who has given every single one of us on this board joy over her 24 years of singing. She is going through a divorce. The woman who said after her first marriage ended that she'd never marry again, and never bring children into the world, married again and had children because she found her soul mate. And now that's ended. Can you imagine how distraught she must be, that her children are left to be brought up just as she had been? Yet here she is, touring and singing live to please her fans, and yet you sit here and have the gall to criticise and tear down this poor woman? Honestly, where are your hearts and where is your compassion? She's turned to "her saving grace" during an extremely difficult time in her life. The one thing that's always pulled her through tough times since she was a little girl, and here you all are, ripping her to pieces. Poor Mariah. I love her. I always have, and always will. She is more to me than someone to just churn out hits and reach high notes. To others here, maybe not. I will always love and support her, and I'm proud to. (Sunday 5 October 2014; 23:53)

Lee / Don't Explain (47,114) by Bill from the UK Thank you for sharing that video Lee. I thought that was a great performance and an excellent song choice. I've longer for Mariah to do a jazz number ever since hearing The Wind. It just suits the softer side of her voice and the arrangements can let her sing freely when she wants to. The concert (47,095) by Bill from the UK I've listened to the clips on Instagram and some YouTube videos, and I would hardly call the performances "atrocious" as somebody put. Hero, We Belong Together, and #Beautiful all sounded great. She honestly cannot win with some of you. She lips the difficult parts of her songs, and you crucify her. Norman / live album (47,082) by Bill from the UK Hi Norman. I agree, I also don't think Mariah would do another Unplugged album. I honestly don't think it can be matched (but then I had my reservations about MCIIY, but loved that album as much as the original, lol). I had a great bootleg of her Tokyo concert from 1996 called Out In Japan which was professional quality (near enough) and a great keepsake from one of her best tours, so I'd love something similar, especially if Mariah is debuting new songs each night like she hinted at. Angelo from Italy / Emotions (46,868) by Bill from the UK Hi Angelo. That version of Emotions was on a European Maxi CD with some other club mixes. It is item 0204 in this website's discography and I have this CD in my collection. Remixes usually have either edited out or unused vocals from different takes. Mariah said that the Def Club Mix of Dreamlover was the first remix she ever re-sang, so from that we can deduce that the "you got me feeling" refrain was indeed either edited out of the master version or was from a different, unused take.
