My MC 2015 fantasy wish list (48,007) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
(Saturday 22 November 2014; 3:07)

PREFACE

I started out wanting to make or update my previous wish list to realizing that I'm not really that hung up on Mariah accomplishing more than she already has. That's not to say that I will not celebrate in her future commercial endeavors, obviously. Just that it's not as important as being truly spiritually fulfilled.

I wish that for myself and I pray that for other people that I love and even people I don't know or have a natural liking for. I understand that not everybody is going to get why I feel the need to post this but I would reference Mariah's own expressed Faith and core beliefs and desires since the world first heard 'Vision of Love'. This is who she has always been striving to become. I recently reread Her autobiography: 'The Meaning of Mariah Carey'
and these are some of the thoughts I came away with:

"Hopes, Dreams, Wishes, and Prayers for Mariah Carey:

1. Spiritual Fulfillment
- That she continues to nurture her relationship with God, leaning on Him for guidance, peace, and joy in all aspects of her life.

2. A Godly Marriage
- That she finds a partner who shares her faith, values, and desire to honor God in their union.

3. Healing and Restoration
- That the scars from her past—whether from childhood or past relationships—are fully healed, allowing her to live with peace and joy unshaken by old wounds.

4. Authentic Love and Support
- That she surrounds herself with people who truly love, respect, and support her for who she is, beyond her celebrity persona.

5. Grace to Be Human
- That she is shown grace and understanding by others, allowing her to make mistakes, grow, and evolve without judgment or undue criticism.

6. Freedom from Worldly Pressures
- That she finds liberation from the entertainment industry’s materialistic and superficial values, allowing her to fully embrace her God-given identity.

7. Purposeful Legacy
- That she continues to use her platform and music to inspire others and share the presence of God, as she has done through her Christmas albums and other works.

8. A Loving and Faith-Centered Family
- That her family relationships, including with her children, remain strong, loving, and centered on mutual faith and respect.

9. Unwavering Faith
- That she remains steadfast in her faith, even when faced with life’s challenges, and continues to be a beacon of hope for others.

10. Divine Guidance
- That she discerns God’s will in her decisions, whether in her personal life or professional endeavors, and trusts His plan for her. "

In Jesus Almighty name, Amen.

Rick Fox* who also used to be married to Vanessa Williams (the 1st AA Miss America). There were always dudes shooting their shots at MC. Whether it was Tupac, Matt Dillon or random clowns - like the thirsty one she chose to marry on a whim. I have very little faith Rick would have been a better husband to Mariah than he was to his first wife. But he wouldn't have treated her any worse either.

*I'm so impressed by the fact Webmaster Eric has kept the MCA brand so intact for almost 3 decades that it's nearly impossible not to end up being directed back here whenever I wanna verify or check my Mariahpedia memory.

Unexpected allies (110,758) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Lambs were never jealous of Madonna's success anymore than we were jealous of Whitney's, Janet's, Celine's, Shaniah's, Toni's, Britney's, X-Tina's, Taylor's or even Ariana's success. I rebuke it. I have bought at least 5 of the aforementioned artists albums at the height of their popularities all while being a Lamb 200%. I have an overall great taste in music. I don't discriminate. What moves me moves me. It's not a premeditated decision. I'm hoping most people are still like this but maybe not. Oh, well.

Jealousy is a bitch we might have heard of and seen in passing but in the end - we just don't know her. The only difference between now and then ("back in the day") is that everything wasn't so precious all the freaking time. When JLo and Tommy stole from Mariah, we heard about it in real time from multiple sources, including Mariah herself and receipts were shared.

The same stuff happens these days but it's a whole different ballgame. The gatekeeping is strong af. There's an oligarchy of sorts that's been dominating The Anglo-Music World for 2 decades and it's straight politics. Really, the whole entertainment game is just one long political campaign.

Mariah's not a schmoozer, never was and never will be. That's to her credit. Taylor Swift is very much a publicist's dream client. No need to elaborate. Unexpected allies, ey?

As Mariah Carey famously coined in the 90's (and Celine borrowing her quote verbatim): "There's room for everybody," when asked what she thought of other female A-list artists. This has since evolved into - We Love Everybody.

These things make me happy.

Article: Mariah Carey unveils "Here for It All" track list (110,757) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Let's hope the album version of 'Sugar Sweet' is feature free. No offense to Shenseea or Kehlani. But ain't nobody wait almost 7 years for a new Mariah CD because of the potential guest stars.

"Caution" is so good that Team Mariah really doesn't have an excuse to not deliver on all fronts this time around. I'm assuming nothing/nobody has the power to put any reigns on MC at this point and hopefully MC won't have put any barriers between herself and her art.

I don't like her clammed up and defensive. Her work might not suffer but she has historically when that's happened before. We love her free, expressive, earnest, truthful and playful. She's the only artist apart from MJ that has me laughing, dancing, yelling, twirling around, head to the sky and in tears - both happy and sad - consistently, on every single album.

I'm ready for a genuinely authentic angry-Riah. I say this with

The Mariah UK takeover is gonna pay off (110,535) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
I salute the effort made by Gamma and Team Mariah to attack one (non-American) territory full-on.
• Capital's Summertime Ball had ~80,000 attendees ~80% 18-39 and MC has made 2 appearances on the radiostation in June and August with multiple clips shared on social media. The Capital FM hosts loved her both times and that translates/transfers to Capital FM's core demographic of 15-34 with 7.5 million weekly and ~1.1 million daily listeners (London ~235,000) - who will be more primed for her album come September. The whole show was broadcast live on YouTube and aired on ITV, the premier UK commercial tv station with a 15% market share. It's still on available on ITV's streaming platforms.

• Brighton Pride ~50,000 attendees ~70% in 18-39 (no official broadcasting channels). Made several headlines and news articles, multiple clips shared on socials

• Heritage Live at Sandringham Estate ~10,000 to 30,000 attendees ~50% in 18-39 (no official broadcasting channel). Made several headlines and news articles, multiple clips shared on socials

• Harper's Bazaar UK July Cover and interview inspired the times critique and discussion on Revolt TV and many other publications. Socials and forums obviously quoted too. The cover photo and shoot garnered a lot of positive feedback, exclusively so. A rarity for Mariah's press coverage. Should point to an uptick in sales of the physical magazine issue. (Was also heavily featured during her Selfridge's "Here For It All" in-person fan-event. More on that later down the list).

• Selfridges Presents: Mariah Carey. Their flagship department store (located in London on Oxford Street, which attracts more than 500,000 daily visitors) has daily visitors in the tens of thousands and many more thousands would have shown up because Mariah is so high profile. From watching the videos and clips from fan-cams it was obviously a very successful turnout. It bordered on pandemonium in spots. Not a surprise since it was open to the public who were encouraged to sign up for free audience tickets. Promoted and curated as a Q&A session hosted by Clara Amfo of BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge. Clara has unfortunately left BBC 1 Radio about 3 days ago, citing depression and burnout, after 8 years. (Goes to show, how you can never know what people are going they behind the scenes no matter how well put together they come off in public. We wish Clara well as she privately recovers.) BBC 1 Radio has ~1million daily listeners. The Selfridges even displayed Mariah's Harper's Bazaar UK magazine for easy pickup as part of her promo. Fans have even gotten her to personally sign their copies since it came out and some have bought it as a collectors item.

Honorable mentions:
° BBC Radio 1Xtra Breakfast Show - Nadia Jae
° BBC Radio 2 - Scott Mills Breakfast Show
° Capital FM's Breakfast Show with Sian Welby, Jordan North, and Chris Stark.
° Smooth Radio - Angie Greaves
° Hits Radio Breakfast Show with Fleur East and Will Best

Apologies if I missed any appearances or persons. I know that it was not intentional.

In any case. I just wanted to list and document MC's rather assertive presence in the UK this Summer. She's been very visible and accessible to fans and civilians alike. It hasn't gone overboard, so when the HFIA album promotion picks up in September, The UK market will have her fresh on their minds and still curious. Hopefully Gamma and Team Mariah have fostered enough good will with all of this effort both on radio and the larger UK populus for a nice album debut position. I hope they push the McCartney cover in the UK and Europe especially. MC's "Without You" is still a radio staple in Europe. Everybody loves her version and that's when she really became a star across the Atlantic. I was quite surprised at how mid the American audience received it in comparison to us.

I thought it important to give Team Mariah some credit for what they've done right so far. It's not all doom and gloom.

Bryan Tanaka (110,533) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
My stream of consciousness in response to Giovanni, Bobby A and Edeard:

Bryan Tanaka's absence has left quite a vacuum in Mariah's life. No wonder when he was so present and supportive in every aspect of her life. He was so Hands-On, from being her primary dancer/choreographer, creative director, being involved with video production and editing, producing, helping to manage her career at times and parenting her minor children. I could probably go on and on and tack on 7 other hats that he's worn, but you get the point, he was basically her husband, and not the way the two other idiots have been.

We never heard of any negative drama about their personal relationship - not that they were perfect because I'm sure they weren't always - but it wasn't the stuff that blogs, vlogs, podcasts and tabloids would get excited about. I'm guessing because both of them were very dedicated and faithful to each other after they became official.

It was all very marriage-coded, like how a lot of husbands and wives own and run businesses together? I personally know couples who operate (literally) like that, who met when they were younger and were in the same field, then started a business and are with each other 24/7 every day of the year, with kids. Very harmonious, stable loving partnerships - from the outside looking in at least.

But they're not celebrities so you have to factor in the stresses that come along with that as well as the omnipresence of a destructive and narcissistic ex-husband who runs his mouth to spoil and foil your relationship.

The thirsty one has always been super-jealous and competitive over Tanaka for how he stepped in and seamlessly filled basically every need Mariah and the kids had. because of his inadequacies as a husband, father and man. His thirsty antics for the past 10 years especially are living proof of that - if you catch my drift.

So whatever plans Tanaka and Mariah had made for their future togethe were deliberately thwarted as Thirsty's messy behavior at some point succeeded in causing enough turmoil that they decided s separation was the answer. That's the long and short of it. I'm doing my best not to go on a tangent. I know it doesn't look it.

Had they been officially married earlier on, nothing and no one could have kept them apart, simply because they would have been under God's protection through matrimonial covenant.

But stranger things have happened. What's indisputable is that Bryan Tanaka is still very much respected and beloved by Mariah's assembled family. They known him as long as Mariah has and naturally have their own relationships with him as a friend. A number of them (I follow) are very openly keeping their eyes on him, rooting for him. In that way he's quite singular. If there is a stone left unturned it's going to be Jesus who turns that stone.

Any "lamb" who goes out of their way to badmouth Tanaka based only on their "feelings" is sus AF. Especially when they have little to no energy for the truly parched.

20 years is long time to pretend you have integrity when you don't. Thirsty could never.

Taylor Swift (110,470) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
I say, bring it on Taylor. I actually quite enjoy it if she dropped on the same day. For a myriad of reasons. Some I've already discussed on this board in the recent past. Taylor is desperate for a Christmas #1 but everybody knows why she won't anytime soon. Mariah's likely going to be #1 on her birthday one way or another. MC isn't chasing Taylor, Taylor's chasing MC. Good luck with that.

America isn't the only market. Other territories are much more into Mariah even in her "legacy" act season at. Mariah's spoiled us so much with albums back-to-back, stacked with hits that we forget some artists have built entire career off of one major commercially or critically acclaimed album or even one big hit. In a way she's been around so long that some people only associate her with AIWFC.

But then deep cuts from 2009 and even her older #1's from 1998 go viral regularly. There is obviously still a thirst for her brand of music. The chances of her going #1 with a new song are not as crazy as you'd think. What's that Chinese saying: When a butterfly flaps its wings...

Mariah's having an in-person "Here For It All"- event at Selfridges London Monday, August 11th (110,388) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
You lucky UK lambs can sign up and secure a spot. Even French lambs can make a commute easily. So jealous that I can't make it but happy if anyone from MCA can go and report back. MC has it confirmed on her current instastory and @theofficialselfridges.

"Here for it all? Mariah fans, this one's for you. In 2008, the one and only Mariah Carey came for a special visit to Selfridges and on Monday 11 August she makes a 'Sugar Sweet' return to celebrate the upcoming launch of her 16th studio album 'Here for it all', in conversation with @claraamfo. Don't miss out, sign up to Unlocked at the link in bio to become a Keyholder and secure your spot."

Sugar Sweet (110,149) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
You may very well be right Andrew, meaning the ring reference is just a metaphor. Getting a ring pop from Nick never did anything for any of the many women he proposed to - least of all Mariah.

He's been adamant he's never gonna marry again because there is too much to lose for him and everything to gain for Mariah. He'd have to stop talking about her for one and that's not happening anytime soon. Mariah's had opportunity to distance herself from him by marrying someone else. Now that she's single, suddenly she's talking about absolutely getting the ring? Those handmaid's Nick keeps are as happy as pigs in shit because of the biological connection to Mariah's kids. I don't think they care anything about a ring if it means Nick gets less attention and opportunities. They live vicariously through him.

To me the lyric comes across as if she sees the "ring" as the prize and not just a trinket or the actual symbol of love and commitment to marriage. It wouldn't have given me pause if she'd said: "Cause I will absolutely get the bling." Part of the reason I'm a fan of Mariah the songwriter is because that's how I've gotten to know glimpses of the person I assume she is in real life at various points. Her writing is always the best when it's personal, when she writes what she knows. Most great writers use their own lives as canvas. So when I can't connect the dots I feel apart from her and I don't enjoy the experience as much.

There are plenty of lyricists who just throw words together and make great songs because of a cute rhyme scheme. But they're not my favorite artists. I don't buy the artist's albums even when I like individual songs. I don't know them - for lack of a better term.

Don't get it twisted, I'm still bumping Sugar Sweet on repeat. I hope she has a solo version with one more verse. In the Type Dangerous' video she's telling on of the castoffs: "No darling" with a huge rock on her middle finger. And in the lyrics she's saying, "They wanna settle down but I just don't trust them. They wanna lock me down but there's no handcuffing." And here she is talking about wanting the ring, expecting it because she deserves it?

Is she trolling or just putting words together that rhyme with no regard to her own personal feeling? With Caution I didn't have to wonder if she was joking around. She either was being clever or heartfelt and I'm sad if she isn't evolving into more of what was so great about her last artistic output. I don't know man. Mariah grew so much lyrically, I just hope she's been encouraged to keep growing and not pressed to only write lite in the same vein of the latest two songs.

Sugar Sweet lyrics: "Cause I will absolutely get the ring"? (110,119) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
@Bobby A, funny you should mention that "It seems like she wants the ring to get married again". Mainly because the particular lyric that's given me pause is: "Cause I will absolutely get the ring" - in the pre-chorus.

I've been under the impression that Mariah has been trolling us for a while. It's like she's hiding behind a persona that simultaneously is non-engaging yet in-our-face bold and it's confusing. It's puzzled me quite a bit and it's part of the reason I've been imploring for her to be authentic no matter what because Caution was being unapologetically her and that's why it's her best project this side of Butterfly - another album era that is and will always remain unmatched. I don't care about the lousy rollout, the work speaks fir itself. One day that album will get it's flowers.

Now, back to the sugar Sweet lyrics. That line about how she will absolutely get the ring came out of nowhere as the rest of the pre-chorus is very generic lyrically, so if she just threw it in there it means that's not where she's actually at. It doesn't scream authentic because she's also been known to say she doesn't believe in the covenant of marriage. So, she's just wants the diamonds? I'm not sure what she's trying to say and I'm a lamb. A casual listener isn't going to question that lyric like oldheads like me. If it's just a throwaway lyric I don't understand the point. Hence why I think she's trolling because I just don't believe she would put it in there and for no reason.

Her interview persona as of late is very non-committal and tropey. She gets asked the same old questions about Christmas, lightning, just superficial stuff in general and she gives the same kinda autopilot answers.

Has Gamma bothered to do focus groups to understand what both the general public and die-hards consider about her? It would seem like they haven't. Mariah's been media trained and was by all accounts of various student up until now. Her public image has been rendered predictable. I don't know if her PR strategy is less-is-more but I'd rather she be on vocal rest than do the same diva-esque Q&As that were inundated with currently.

It's fine for some of the time but when it's all the time? When we know how she's gonna answer before the questions even fully asked? Please stop. With love.

In love with Sugar Sweet (110,077) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Since I heard the snippet and the full song didn't disappoint. I do hope she's got an MC only version with a second verse because how is she gonna perform it when she's on stage without Kehlani and Sheseea? They have a lot of real estate in the song.

It's a certifiable bop, much more than Type. She's using her comfort zone for the more "poppy" songs now GTFO vocal texture just like on Type. I predict a top 20 BB and depending on how the album performs, even higher. I like that it's an all female collab. Her lyrics, I am marinating on right now. One line gave ne pause but I'm used to Mariah's trolling so it could mean nothing. TikTok is gonna eat this up

Promotion (109,730) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
To Dove with love. I feel the same way about TV spots - Mariah's been meme‑ified into "the Christmas lady", and the usual talk‑show circuit only feeds that caricature. The solution isn't no promo; it's smarter, controlled promo. None of your suggestions or ideas are even anything you under the sun when it comes to Mariah as she used to be a master of promotion. So it's not about reinventing the wheel for her.

1. Curate the setting, not just the questions.
Print or long‑form sit‑downs (think Vanity Fair-style hotel‑suite junkets) let her dictate lighting, pacing, and final cut - exactly how A‑list actors sell a film. When she's relaxed and not dodging shady sound‑bite hunters, the *real* Mariah shines.

2. Cut out the middle‑men - talk to us directly.
Her old website voicemails and 2021 Twitter Spaces were gold because nobody filtered her. A periodic blog/vlog column - short, witty, on her own site or Substack - would reclaim the narrative, showcase that legendary pen, and shut down click‑baiters who use her name for clout.

3. Use the catalog as cinematic ammo.
Outside Christmas, she's barely tapped the power of syncs. Look what "Love Actually" did for AIWFCIY. Carefully placing deep cuts or new tracks in prestige shows, A‑list rom‑coms, or buzzy K‑dramas could bond whole new audiences to her. Gamma should be able to connect her to international Netflix producers. Her music can stand alone as instrumentals. She doesn't always have to give away full tracks. I bet she has unfinished songs just languishing.

4. Cast stories in the videos.
I don't know why Mariah doesn't use her videos as a platform for acting. I mean, she's paying for the whole shindig, might as well live out her inner thespian.

Bottom line: Mariah is the brand. If she controls the platform, curates the visuals, and lets the songs speak through film/TV moments, she sidesteps lazy interview shade and reminds casuals why she's still that girl.

This was a remix of Dove's post. It stands on its own but I just had to jump on it cuz it's a Summer bop

New album (109,729) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
@Lighty. I agree with you because for the past decade, everything Mariah's touched just turned to gold - except new music. It wouldn't be so frustrating if 'Caution' wasn't such an amazing body of work. It's rivaling Butterfly as the album I play from start to finish. Her pen was on fire and I don't know what she's talking about when she complains about her vocal performances in studio or live for that era.

Also, not to nag about you always being from China, but like how did you notice her album rollouts not being as Stellar as they could be? How was she promoted over there - before and after Memoirs? @Bobby A's comment: I'm right there with you on the rollout frustrations - something feels disjointed. But I keep reminding myself that Mariah is Gamma's first true mega‑star test case. She owns her masters and publishing, so unlike a traditional label deal, Gamma has to build - and learn- in real time. That "first‑adapter" growing‑pains phase was always going to be messy. Because of that, the usual promo playbook (predictable collabs, the same talk shows, servicing the same U.S. radio formats) just won't cut it. She needs to lean into moments that only an icon of her stature gets:

• Every stage is a launchpad. When she's at Sandringham for King Charles, or any festival slot, the set list should highlight the new era - fresh single, inventive remix medleys - so casual viewers instantly link that performance to MC16.

• Serve the hungry markets. Regions that still shout for her (Asia, SA, parts of Europe) can't be bypassed. These last four type dangerous remixes were a good idea but should have come out earlier and Team Mariah needs to reach out to more International artists/DJs for future collabs and time the releases so they can actually boost the project when it's hot.

• Treat the show as content. Mariah's humor and behind‑the‑scenes banter are social‑media gold. Build quick IG/TikTok bits into the set changes instead of the usual glam‑touch‑up lull (that she doesn't even need). Fans leave with a memory and a shareable clip.

Bottom line: the catalog sells itself on streaming. Live appearances should be MC16‑first, everything else second. Gamma will fumble a bit, but if Mariah uses every mic and camera to push the new music, the campaign can still hit the highs we all know she's capable of. End rant.

Type: Dangerous | three hating ass heauxs - they don't know the meaning of water nor soap (109,630) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Well, at least one of just might be JL according to Wendy Williams.

The gist of it is that when JLo came to the radio station for an interview, her people had told Wendy's people that there was no direct eye contact allowed with Jennifer Lopez - which Wendy went right ahead and completely disregarded. (Echoes of Tommy Motorboater.)

The second point was that her people had asked for the bathroom to be cleared meaning nobody goes in and out as long as JLo was at the station. So Wendy had one of her interns guard the bathroom and actually stood on the toilet and would push the door shut (if anyone attempted to enter) until it was JLo's turn to actually use it. And after JLo used said bathroom, they discovered she hadn't washed your hands. I'm guessing probably both the water and soap were untouched meaning not a drop in the sink. Wendy reiterated that it was all true several times as the audience went off in disbelief. It happened probably two decades ago but Wendy first said it on her tv-show in 2011.

Ever since I randomly remembered this Wendy episode, my list of the 3 hating ass hoes referenced in T:D - that don't know the meaning of water nor soap - has dwindled down to:

1. JLo
2. Jenny, From The Block
3. Jennifer Lopez

These things make me happy. Idc.

Apple interview | MC China and the origin of Niújiě? | Niú fèn (109,626) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
So how could MC remedy that negative online chatter in China? Are there any nationwide tv-shows she could go on live and do a little whistle and riff and talk to some of her "cow dungs"? That cracks me up so hard, I can't tell you. Niú fèn? Sounds like New Fan and Niú Bi, like Newbie. Where's the "Cow Dung" merch MC? I want the snapback. Not even kidding. Would that sell in China, Lightly? Obviously we'd want it written in Mandarin. Don't let those turtle shits be first, Team Mariah.

I really can't tell you how much I adore your entire response, Lighty. It's gold. Very thorough. I hope M (a.k.a. "Niu Bi") gets to read it somehow, someday. Cowmily Lambs.

Yeah, that's where my mind instantly went. Standard 10-12 songs plus remixes and then the extra handful for the deluxe, potentially after Christmas. Milk the era, girl.

Ooh, and while I'm quoting you, can you share how Mariah's popularity was born in China and how it's evolved? That'd be super interesting to know. Like the story of "Sister Cow" being a term of endearment for her, is that canon of fanfiction? Who coined that? Are lambs in China called calves?

MC sweet 16 promo-direction needs to mirror her vibe (109,583) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
I'm not too bothered about the direction of MC16 as long as it's authentically where Mariah is in her life. That was the beauty of MIAMTEC and my darling "Caution". We all know she's the queen of ballads (love songs and introspective moments) as well as flirty, fun and even risque songs and it all comes together beautifully on every single album she produces. I don't worry about quality so don't anybody get me wrong.

I'm talking about her choosing the right singles that mesh with her current mien whenever she drops them. Type: Dangerous works effortlessly because her "nonchalant" vibe, lately, has been in full effect and the song fits: melodically, lyrically and vocally. Mariah right now is very understated.

The way how a lot people pick dogs that resemble their appearance, these "puppies" from the mother-album need to look and sound like their owner or it will confuse the listeners. Mariah's done that amazingly well with her Christmas projects, she dresses the part, talks the talk and walks the walk. The public eats it up, year after year and the promo goes on autopilot with very few but strategically sound moves. It's easy for her because why? It's authentic, her genuine love of and for Yuletide.

Is anybody picking up what I'm putting down?

Possibly the most melodically void and soulless piece of music I've ever heard (109,582) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
By anyone really, but Mariah especially. I listened to it (ears bleeding the entire time) once and never again will I press play willingly on this Whiny Wally production. If Guantanamo was still operational this "song" would have gone diamond over there. Whomever A&R put this all together needs to be lambasted. Please don't let's ask for a live rendition. Not even ironically.

The good thing is I don't remember a lick of the melody or anything about it beyond how awful it is. Yay T:D AA+ is a great palate cleanser, that's the #1 song playing on my internal radio for weeks now. So all is well in the land.

What's your thoughts? (109,476) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Call me crazy but it's crossed my mind, more than once that on Type: Dangerous' delivery - Mariah deliberately played down all of her vocal abilities. Kind of like she did for the Mimi sessions. I'd like to see someone use AI tools use her rap-singing on that to upgrade their song enough to compete.

This is why, as much as I beg for a rockumentary, I don't need her raw vocals in the studio or onstage in full because some weirdo might digitally abuse it. All those stems on YT are a double edged sword. I don't understand why she, Sony especially, just people get away with it.

I agree with you that the song T:D is mid, in terms of what we know she can do. I felt the same with ILT. This is clearly not the best of her and still bops. It's a good feeler to put out but it also puts a lot of pressure on the second single/video (really the whole rest of the album) to hit it out of the stratosphere. If anyone can pull that off though, Mariah can.

It's tii-iime - for Team Mariah to accept that the U.S. is no longer her primary market (109,475) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
A Lambi after my own Kawaii. I'm sure you've had flashes of brilliance.

I think my points were probably lost in Google translate. At least that's how I'm choosing to move forward. They're just things that crossed my mind. We all have those. I want team Mariah to have pow-wows regularly. I've never heard of Mariah doing that. The secret to successful brainstorming is letting every idea have a chance to be heard and not placing any negative or too positive value on it in front of the team. That goes for the entire team including the team leader. No idea is a bad idea. That way when people actually have brilliant ideas, they're not afraid to voice them or worse, want to keep it all to themselves. That kills creativity and obliterates the team spirit.

The only time I ever questioned anyone about the point of their ideas was when this guy was literally designing and building a weapon of mass destruction. All he basically wanted was to get rich. He didn't like me very much after even though we got along pretty well before that. He had better ideas that didn't involve the taking of lives. But, I digress.

I'm so glad you got it Tegin, being an American and all. I was worried that wasn't going to translate well. Because MC being such a powerhouse in Asia doesn't take away from her American crown. Anyway, I just wanted to throw a monkey wrench I've held onto for years (since TEC tour) in 2014. Such a juxtaposition of her status in the US while literally breaking attendance records in China with 5 sold out Stadiums- back to back. Mariah was the first Western artist to ever do that. We haven't heard of anyone else surpassing that 250,000+ attendance. It was barely news the first time. Hopefully, Gamma will do better about steering the media flow back to her international popularity and non-AIW legacy.

Why Mariah needs to curb AI from using her vocals (109,472) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
I don't like the current trend of spreading AI songs using Mariah's voice. It somehow feels like people trying to dilute her artistic brand because out of all the vocalists that we in modern times have heard and know intimately over 35-40 years?

Of course it's tempting to use MC's voice when it makes even the most basic song sound amazing but it's not fair to her or the listeners who might buy a song because they just like it, not knowing it's fugazi Mariah. Imagine if this had happened if AI had existed in the 90's and not just auto tune? I mean, this is JLo's dream come true.

Mariah's the only one who's tone has been quite impossible to replicate. The DJ Clue quote comes to mind of how Mariah's "often imitated but never duplicated"?

Except now she is, even though it's still noticeably not her because the flair is missing, the Mariahness is missing and that's probably because she's always produced and her artistry is so distinctly hers. She builds a wall of sound with her voice so it's instantly recognizable but I worry for the younger generations - they maybe won't know the difference. Their ears have not been trained to, and maybe I'm being dramatic and that real music lovers will always know the difference no matter if they were around when she first debuted or not.

But yeah, I don't like it. Vocalists and other creatives need to band together and copyright their vocals. She's insured her legs for a billion dollars when she barely uses them anymore ( sorry y'all, I had to do it, just once in my life ) when her "Music Box" is where all the magic happens. I know a way she could very plausibly curb it. It's never been done and I want her to be first.

And before anyone starts, I'm sure she's already insured her vocal chords, throat, diaphragm, mouth, esophagus, lips, teeth, nose, tongue, arms and hands. I'm being as vague as I can be so It's okay if you don't get it.

It's tii-iime - for Team Mariah to accept that the U.S. is no longer her primary market (109,446) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
You seem to have misunderstood my post. That's why I'm grateful Type Dangerous just debuted #2 on the Japanese AirPlay charts. It proved my point that in some territories Mariah's music can still makes a clear impact all on its own. All I was saying is for Team Mariah to spread the wealth, not put all her eggs in one American basket.

AIW is already locked in as an evergreen. Of course she shouldn't take that for granted or not capitalize on that. Just don't forget that she's really big in Asia and still has room to grow there.

The way I wrote my post was just to frame all that without giving away too specific ideas that anybody can steal and use. This is an open forum. Not everybody who lurks here is a lamb. I can't just be giving away a whole marketing plan.

So I chose an angle that nobody can duplicate because Mariah is the only living Western artist who can really pull it off without much effort. If I went Into the nitty-gritty, the ideas will be applicable to any artist and people would steal it. It is what it is.

It's tii-iime - for Team Mariah to accept that the U.S. is no longer her primary market (109,435) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Hey Lambily. I haven't been keeping up with every message since before T:D dropped, so apologies if this has already been brought up, but it's been on my mind for a long time.

MC needs to stop treating the U.S. like her main market. And that goes for Team Mariah, Larry Jackson, Gamma, her entire promo strategy, and even us lambs. Here's why and what needs to change:

America is no longer serving Mariah

She's been reduced to a "Christmas meme" over here. Hugely beloved in December, but ignored or mocked the rest of the year. The Caution era (which IMO is top 3 in her catalog) was under-promoted, underplayed, and mishandled because of an outdated U.S.-centric strategy. American media fixates on "diva" soundbites, lighting demands, Christmas hits, and drama - not her actual music. Thank God for TikTok or many of the youngins would never have discovered she has other songs outside of AIW (no shade).

Go where you're loved

In Asia and Latin America, Mariah is still treated like a living legend and never like a living relic. She fills stadiums and arenas in China, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines etc - no current album needed. Hello, The Celebration of Mimi Tour? So this can't be news to anybody. Brazil has Lambs ready to riot for a single live moment. These countries aren't obsessed with clickbait interviews or reducing her legacy to one season a year. They care about her vocals her catalog, and her presence.

Rethink the rollout strategy

* Drop the next single in South Korea
* Premiere the video in Shanghai.
* Give her first big comeback interview to Japanese TV

Because guess what? Social media is global. Wherever it starts, it'll reach America within seconds.

Reminder: virality isn't U.S.-owned

"Gangnam Style" wasn't in English. It wasn't American. Still went viral. Let's don't "chase" a U.S. moment - create global ones and let the U.S. catch up later (they always do).

Do something, anything fresh

Imagine a fan listening party in the Philippines - thousands of English-speaking Pinoy Lambs who would lose their minds. Or Mariah launching a challenge on TikTok Korea or doing a collab with a big Latin or K-Pop artist. All of this creates "real momentum", way more than another awkward podcast or daytime U.S. interview.

And for the finale

All I Want For Christmas Is You hit #1 in Japan in 1994. (A non-Christian country, because she licensed it for use as the theme for a tv-show.) It took America until 2019 to do the same and she had to work for it. Remember December 2014? Meanwhile "Caution" didn't even chart properly in the U.S., despite being critically acclaimed.

Go where you're celebrated, not where you have to beg for recognition. It's time for Team Mariah to think globally, because she is global. The U.S. doesn't have to be first anymore. Let the music lead. Thoughts?
