Mariah Carey announces new album "Here For It All"

Mariah Carey has announced her new album "Here For It All", releasing on September 26 via Gamma. The singer made the announcement on social media Monday morning via a brief video that shows her strutting in spike heels, culminating with a snippet of her singing the title track.

The singer gave the first taste of "Here For It All" with the release of "Type Dangerous" in early June. That song was co-written and co-produced with Anderson .Paak, who is rumored to serve as executive producer on the project. "Type Dangerous" was a throwback track in classic Carey form, sampling Eric B. & Rakim's "Eric B. Is President" and featuring Mr. Beast in the music video.

Though details are scarce on the record, Carey has been suggesting on social media that the second single will be titled "Sugar Sweet". It is unclear which other songs will make the final track list.

Carey has been teasing her sixteenth album for years, telling Variety in 2024 that she was actively working on it. "I've written some new songs. You know, I'm excited about it," she said. "I have to figure out which songs I'm going to do and which songs I'm not going to do. But I think I'm very excited about it."

It's been seven years since Carey put out 2018's "Caution", released via Epic Records. That album featured an assortment of collaborators including Skrillex, Mustard, No I.D. and Timbaland, and spawned the singles "With You", "A No No" and "Portrait".

Since then, Carey signed to Gamma, the independent label that launched in 2023 by music executive L.A. Reid and Larry Jackson. According to Forbes in early June, Reid will executive produce "Here For It All" under his new company Mega. "It is a game-changing moment because it's one of our premier stars who has made a decision to join forces with an independent, self-contained company that is not associated with any of the major labels," said Reid. "It's a game changer for both Gamma and Mariah."

I like the cover art because she looks genuinely happy. I know it's posed, but it doesn't look posed. My favorite style of pictures are the ones that look candid.

I love the title because I'm also here for it all. For me, that means I'm here for the whole spectrum of emotions we experience as humans. I hope the album has at least a few songs that make me feel something.

I'm reminded of a quote I heard in the documentary Long Promised Road (about Brian Wilson). It's a famous guy (I can't remember his name) describing Brian's music. He said something along the lines of, "The beauty of it carries with a sense of joyfulness even in the pain of living." That's exactly the way I feel about Mariah Carey's music. You guys I'm so excited and here for it.
