Can we all celebrate the fact (76,701)
by Edouard from France

That Mariah didn't marry an international thief? It is obvious that she realized that something was fishy about James Packer and she refused to close her eyes. She is upset when they mentioned him because he clearly tried to use her to expand his fortune and use her as a trophy wife so that people would succomb to her charm and fall into his trap. Mariah has already experienced this kind of man before. I'm sure it will inspire her new music.

JoJo - Wonder Woman (76,700)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

While the state of Mariah's career has been stuck in the same limbo for the past 3-4 years, I'd rather listen to fresh, new music. JoJo just dropped a great song possibly meant to capitalize on the success of the blockbuster movie of the same name in theaters right now. This is slinky, minimalist R&B at its best because it highlights her amazing vocals. Now if only Mariah had the guts to make songs without having to force herself to come up with easily digestible hooks. But then again she is an R&B singer with a pop heart, so I guess this would be too much to ask of her because it would be going against her instinct. I hope this is a taste of another album from JoJo. She truly is one of our most underrated artists.

I'm sure the fan wanted her to actually sing it though. Not the CD. I appreciate her for adding the song for the fans (as I said before it's a favorite of mine), but come on. I can listen to the CD version any day of the week.

If she had bothered to do what she's paid to do and actually sing it, maybe, but lipping along to a CD version isn't worthy of comment or acknowledgement.

She is not flat but her Baku show was (76,697)
by May from Denmark

She didn't sound horrible but she obviously sounded weak. Not a single high note hit for real, then that late warm up, was it because she was late again? What the heck does she always do that it takes forever? Overall because she is not the one doing her own make up unlike Celine Dion. Probably she was trying to squeeze in that horrid catsuit. The look wouldn't be awful if it actually fit and if the boots were lost. If at least was a knee length dress or gown sequined with the n1 would have been so different. I'm not one to throw any thick girl under the bus but Mariah please just dress your size at least. Anyway, as I said, it was obvious she lowered the key on all her songs and played it very safe. She moved very little, gone are the days she walked all the stage. She was doing ok in Vegas and her tour was fine, can't ever trust her since years though, it all goes down hills again for some reason, she rides the rollercoaster and I'm getting tired of the bumpy ride. In all honesty, she looked sad, she didn't seem to be having fun or enjoying the fireworks, the chat and the moment. Where were her dancers? Have they ditched her? Or was she? The woman with the big voice seems gone so all that rests is music and the new music is no where to be heard.

Does anyone believe in Karma? (76,696)
by T from USA

I've been thinking about some of the amazing performances she had in 2016, like the SSFT and the Essence Fest in the Superdome and then at the end of the year how terrible her live career ended on the open Dick Clark stage in New York City. Then it had me thinking of her actions right before New Years and specifically cancelling the South American tour. She hurt a lot of people and I wonder if that energy came back to hurt her? A more straight forward way to look at it is this: If she would've kept performing regularily through October and November maybe her voice would've been in tip top shape by New Years and she wouldn't have relied so heavily on backing tracks. Take a look at Emotions or WBT at Essence Festival on YouTube to see what I'm talking about. Had she done that same performance at New Years it would've been a whole different story now and maybe even restored her credibility as a live singer to the millions watching.

Every song performed at Baku was horribly executed. If she was an unknown and walked in front of Simon Cowell and delivered that, she'd be thrown out the room. The worst was I'll Be There, Trey just completely wipes the floor with her every time they perform it. Why she still performs live is beyond me, unless it's purely for the monetary gain. It was an absolute embarrassment. The outfit, the tired set list, the dreadful vocals, the lipping. Wake up Mariah.

Tamar, Jamie and Webmaster (76,688)
by Randy from USA

What's funny about everyone's concern about the voice and lipping is how I called it years ago and everyone on the board hated me and said I wasn't a true fan. Someone on here was sarcastic about how Tamar lipped at the BET Awards and got a standing ovation for it. Check out MCs performance of Through The Rain at the 2003 AMAs where you can actually hear the difference in volumes between her voice and her backing track. Oh and let's not forget the wall of background singers she had even though the song Through The Rain has not one background singer on it. She got a standing ovation and I called shullbit. Check out the YouTube dissertation about her 2006 Grammy performance which was a masterful cut and paste job. I called shullbit on that too. MC having strained vocals and pulling the Oz behind the curtain started way back in 97 on Oprah when she struggled with the verses on Hero and lipsynced to a few full voice notes and she lip synced practically all of Butterfly except for a bit of false ad libs at the beginning and the end. No one here wanted to hear me or believe me because I was a Mariah hater. Now though everyone wants to say there's a problem because there's an overwhelming amount of evidence that her voice is beyond repair and she doesn't care. I love MC but what has always gotten me is the arrogance of having a gift that is broken and you never address it with the fans except to say, I was born with nodules, I didn't get enough sleep, my ear monitors aren't working, his casket was in front of me, I was at the Fresh Air Fund and they were blowing smoke at me etc. I call shullbit on all of it. My simple observation is in 96 you are flawless and then in 97 you have severe issues? I love you MCArchives but you all are late to the party. MC's voice meltdown was a sudden unexplained phenomenon that happened long ago and then got worse than bad. You don't believe me, go to YouTube. There is a Vision of Love performance in 98 on The View that will make you cringe. I compare this 96 and 97 difference in MC's voice to a car hitting a wall. MC's voice was mangled instantly and instead of getting it fixed she kept driving until finally it wore out. And two final notes. Tamar has posted her singing in her dressing room killing it so for whatever reason she lip syncs she still can sing, in full voice. It's not like MC did a couple of years ago posting whistles while cleaning. Remember when she said she never wants that to become a gimmick in 92? Then on Music Box and Daydream there were hardly any. Whistles does not make a great singer. I can list about 6 others who can whistle and still have high full voice belts. Change Moore, Shanice, Lisa Fischer etc. Finally, the Jamie Foxx show shouldn't be a surprise. Remember James Cordon had to beg her to sing on his show. Again all of these antics would be fine for any other singer but this is MC who is supposed to be one of the greatest of all time. Fix the problem or address it publically or sing in a man's key. But please MC stop embarrassing the lambily or at least stop thinking we're stupid and you're really singing when your hand goes to your ear and you turn your head to your good side.

First of all this guy is so annoying trying to get her to talk about where James Packer is hiding, like what on earth? The woman came to promote a beauty company not snitch on her ex, anyways Mariah threw an new classic "I don't know where that motherf***er is". Apparently she was also asked by other interviewers about her political views but she kept it neutral and straight up ducked those questions which is how it should be, she doesn't need to talk about it for a beauty product. I'm seeing on UKMix that she was asked if there will be MW Season 2 but she said that the fans don't want that so maybe instead later they can do a show on music. This last part, I didn't read it myself so not sure. Apparently some interviews were cancelled presumably because they kept wanting to get her to talk about politics and maybe Packer, this is exactly why her stupid team should have made it explicitly clear beforehand that these topics are off the table. But of course they are too busy fooling around.

The show in Baku wasn't all about her, there were other singers. I think she should sing less so she can sound her best throughout the 3 to 4 songs she chooses to sing, that's it. In Baku, ABMBB, My All and Emotions were quite good.

She looks stupid and ridiculous in this number 1 outfit. She's 20 years and 40 lbs too late. Embarrassed for her. Remember when she used to be a great singer? I'm convinced this is a case of The Body Snatchers.

Eric, I think you didn't really quite get what he was trying to say, remember he's from France and sometimes his posts don't come across as he intends them to. I've been taking up some French classes and this is what he was trying to say: Mariah should spread a 15-song concert over five days. She would sing three songs per night and go home, rest her voice, make sure her husband Stella has eaten, and stuff, then she would return next day to sing three more songs and so forth until five days have gone by and she would be done. The fans would also go home and appreciate she's doing it so they could have a better experience and value for their money. You may be the Webmaster, but I think sometimes you're so touchy. You should be happy Mariah sang "Thanks For Nothing" and sounded just like the CD, impressive. And if you can't be optimistic after that bodysuit, I'm sorry for you.

"I think she should do shorter sets. Like a 3 songs show so she can make sure she sounds the best." What really upsets me is that you're serious about this. If you were being ironic, I could laugh about it. But you really want to pay money for a show where Mariah only sings three songs? And after every song she takes an half hour off, so she can rest her voice and drink some tea with honey? Sometimes I admire you. No matter how many terrible shows Mariah gives, you're always optimistic. I've lost my optimism years ago, and to protect myself from further disappointments, I never watch her recent shows on YouTube of go to a live concert.

Tamar at BET (76,677)
by RibbonB from USA

Tamar lipped for her life and managed to toss her bewigged head around for all it was worth. I almost wished her platinum wig flew off for the culture. It is amazing, that neither the sound, nor her ears didn't fail her. She gave a flawless over the top campy, fully lipped extravaganza and got a standing ovation for it. Who would have thought?
