Another song coming so close (and failing) to break Mariah's record seriously makes me feel that the music industry collectively is saving the record haha. I think it's going to be safe for a while.

Taylor Swift is brilliant with [the] releases and by releases I mean the whole package (content, videos, stunts, promos and so on).

It's funny, I was just thinking of the same thing. It would be ironically hilarious if the one artist a lot of Mariah fans hoped and prayed for to topple Despacito to save OSD ended up claiming the record. Realistically though, I don't think Look What You Made Me Do has such staying power. It's already polarizing and is even currently overshadowed at least sales-wise by another Taylor song. In the off chance she closes into 16 weeks, then we'd be praying for another release to save the record again. An absurd vicious cycle it would be.

It positively won't. This song isn't even #1 material (to me) and when I heard it, I was like "oh crap no one can save Mariah now" but I'm glad it stopped Despacito.

Whether you like her music or you don't, she's managed to blend singer/songwriter with pop music effectively, she releases high level production music videos that are scheduled with the release of her music, and she certainly seems to know how to market herself well across platforms, merch and social media. Thinking things out and making sure all the pieces fit.

After "Crapfinity" with its horrendous remix, "She Didn't", and "Infamous", "Unforgettable" is a step in a right direction and it shows she can still deliver. Of course she's not going to be featured much in a track that already has two other people in it. What she brought to the table was great. Her part gives the track an ethereal sound that the original didn't have. After three fails, this one is definitely a great collaboration. We have to remember this is just a feature, not her song. She has given many other newcomers a push. It's perfectly OK if she gets a push from more popular artists now.

This show in HBO is everything. Mimi would be smart and lucky if she could showcase a new song on this hot show. Raphael Saadiq runs the music for this show and he could be another great collaborator to work with Mimi. I wonder if Mimi watches the show, with its very timely storyline about a bad breakup and the fallout in the aftermath. I love how they are showing the progression of the lead character's "f up" and her acting out while in denial phase. The final blow up in lead up to the season finale was epic. Here is hoping for a cathartic season finale and another great show playlist. After last sunday's show I kept thinking of Mariah's song Cry.

She's barely on the Unforgettable record. And one could argue that she doesn't add much to the track aside from background ambiance. I like the track, but it's definitely not proof that Mariah can still put out quality tracks. Not saying that she can't, just that Unforgettable isn't proof of it.

So who got tickets for the Christmas concert? I'm so pleased she's coming back to the UK. Hopefully with her been here and making everyone festive then she may place higher in the top 40 chart (fingers crossed).

It would be absolutely hilarious if Taylor stayed at number 1 for 17 consecutive weeks, after all the fuss that was made about Despacito tying MC's record and everyone gunning for Taylor to end the song's streak.

Actually, now that I watch it again, the first chorus (sang softly) is partly lipped (the usual part), the second full voiced chorus has the same initial lipped part, but the final chorus is fully live, and she sounds beautiful.

Christmas in September (78,287)
by Edward from USA

I'm very happy that UK fans will be able to experience the Christmas show. It's a short but great show production wise. There's not much talking or distractions, just the Christmas spirit vividly captured throughout the whole show. I'm also happy because many fans are closer to the UK and could go see her without putting a huge dent in their wallets. I hope this singing in Vegas, with Lionel and such put Mariah in a good place vocally to deliver an excellent album. I wish for an E=MC2 type of album. Great vocals and fun. I remember one of the reviews from that album stated that Mariah was singing with such confident in it that she was delivered the songs effortlessly. I hope she got that confident back, it's time. If not now, when?

On Sunday, in Vancouver Mariah absolutely slayed it. It was a pack house, and everyone was on their feet shaking their booties and screaming their faces off. It was an absolutely amazing show. I'm proud of her. She absolutely did silence any doubters.

If I were asked to name a song by Taylor Swift, I could only say "Shake It Off" because Mariah has a song with the same title, but I'm glad Taylor soared to #1. Many had come close to tying the 16 weeks record, but nobody had been able to tie it or surpass it up until Despacito joined them at the top last week. Mariah and Boyz II Men broke the then current record setting a new one, and they're still holding that record. This time though they're in the presence of new company. Justin likes Mariah and has worked with her twice, and Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee representing the Latino community. Let's see how long can this record last. The fact that this record was almost broken after all these years made me realize that I don't care much about it anymore. I do really care about Mariah thinking outside her books and weaves putting good music out, she's still capable. Unforgettable is an example of that.

Mariah at Mashantucket October 14th 2017 (78,283)
by automatic_prince from Germany

Caused by overall excitement about the UK Christmas shows I clicked on her official website for the first time in months and stumbled upon this odd show in Mashantucket on October 14th. It's neither part of the ATH tour nor a residency. I don't even remember it being announced. It's just this weird one-off. Is anybody going to this? At first I got super excited because I will be in that area the same weekend so I startet freaking out but then I checked ticket prices and couldn't believe it. They range from $175 to $500. How is that even possible? What's even weirder is that they have Daddy Yankee and Tom Jones around the same time and those tickets are between $60 and $200 max. Now I really love Mariah but I don't wanna be ripped off.

I don't think it was live. That "I give my all to have" part is always lipped except that American Idol finale performance.

Mariah Christmas in UK (78,275)
by Mara from United States
| |
|
|
After being blessed enough to see Mariah at the Beacon in NYC the past three years, I am so happy for you guys in Manchester and London for finally being able to see MC during her favorite time - Christmas. There is something magical about Mariah and Christmas and when you put the two of them together it makes for something wonderful. She really loves everything about it, and it really shows and makes an event or performance that should not be missed. I really hope for my own sake and those on the east coast or those willing to travel, that she continues her "annual" residency at the beautiful Beacon Theatre this year as well. Even for a smaller amount of dates, whatever. Mariah and NYC coincide and it wouldn't be right without her doing a show or two here. Afterall, she did say from her first announcement that this was her "first annual show" I can tell you, it is a show that is not to be missed. Last year was slightly underwhelming than 14 and 15 but wonderful non the less. I only wish she offered the meet and greet packages at the Beacon. There is really something magical about those Beacon shows, especiall the Gold and Silver packages that allow you in that iconic Theatre a few hours before showtime to appreciate its beauty. Please MC come back for a few dates, but if not, to all our U.K. family, get those tickets and enjoy that special show.
