Re: Queen Sugar (65,976) (65,978) by Licia from USA
They got Meshelle doing the music? That's going to be an awesome soundtrack.

Mariah's songwriting (65,977) by RibbonB from USA
People have to remember that Mariah does not generally write her own music, though she does collaborate on the melody etc. She works with musicians or producers bring her in tracks from which she works, so there are a lot of hands in the pot when it comes to any possible lifting. I don't think that Mariah ever deliberately set out to steal or copy anyone's music and certainly not lyrics. Most people are influenced by others and some even pay homage and get a little too close. If it gets too close then they take it to court like the Marvin Gaye family did to Pharrell and Robin Thicke.

Re: Queen Sugar (65,974) (65,976) by RibbonB from USA
I have no problem with her Empire role, in fact I look forward to it. But I think she would really be great in this new show, with her mixed race heritage, she would be perfect for that show's setting, or equally as good, to provide some music. I think Michelle Ndgeocello (sorry for the spelling) is controlling the music for this show, so it will be eclectic and soulful.

Re: Deedre and Licia (65,971) (65,975) by Licia from USA
We could be sisters from another mister if Deedre has some African American blood in her family. Seriously though I don't think anyone could handle more than one of me at one time. Lol.

Re: Queen Sugar (65,967) (65,974) by B from USA
Mariah's Empire role looks tailor made for her. Lee and Danny Strong have crafted the perfect character for her. It doesn't look campy and she's not acting like a caricature of herself. She looks stunning and she seems natural. She doesn't seem aware of the camera. Lee seems to bring out the best of her as an actress. I hope the song is amazing. I hope it's a breezy throwback ala #Beautiful with Miguel.

Re: Duet With Ja Rule prevented a sophomore slump (65,955) (65,973) by RibbonB from USA
RJJ, I agree with you that sampling and sampling "arrangements" were still relatively was new in the early 90's. James Brown and George Clinton had to jump into the fight early on, due to their heavily sampled music in Hip Hop. One of the most prominent cases that comes to mind is MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This", which totally uses Rick James' "SuperFreak" opening guitar riff. From Wikipedia: "The sample of Super Freak that forms the basis of the song led to Rick James and other performers on the original record to file a lawsuit for infringement of copyright. The suit was settled out of court when Hammer agreed to credit James as a songwriter, effectively granting James millions of dollars in royalties." Now it is common practice to give co-writer credit up front. Dr. Dre used to budget for lawsuits based on songs he sampled in the early days. Since that time, rules and precedents have been established to appropriately credit and compensate writers for songs which have been sampled, or borrowed from. I also agree that it is different from someone stealing the sample that she planned to use. That said, I do think the grudge if you can call it that, is far too long drawn out. Mariah has gone so far beyond all that and Jenny is just whatever, IMO. Lol.

Re: Mariah's face (65,956) (65,972) by Luke from United Kingdom
It's pretty obvious she's having botox which isn't permanent. Joan Rivers was having plastic surgery and face lifts in her thirties. Most celebrities have botox because it fades after months and they usually have it done about 1 month prior to an event so they looks flawless on camera. My guess is she's been having it around her under eyes and cheek area because she's never really used many expressions with her forehead but she does smile a lot.

Deedre and Licia (65,971) by Andrew from UK
Separated at birth? Ahem. No hold on, this is serious. You look very similar and write very similarly. Now, I can't tell Licia's race from the photograph, but I'm still calling separation at birth. Hashtag that. I could be onto something here. I jest, of course. But I'm sure everybody appreciates your posts.

Re: Duet With Ja Rule prevented a sophomore slump (65,955) (65,970) by Andrew from UK
Mariah has been embroiled in plagiarism cases from the word go. I have no opinion on the matter save to say that they existed and she paid them off. To decree that she was perfectly innocent is a virtuous step and why not? Go for it. The benefit of the doubt is worthy of someone who has written so many other songs that have not been called into question. However, the argument that it was normal during the Emotions days is very thin, such was the consternation of the other composers: "She lifted the whole song." TGIFY was high profile because it hit number one (despite being critically slated as Mariah's first dip into repetitive banality). Standing O I recall reading about. Perhaps on here. My own words may be used against me and those posts can be thumbed up to Kingdom come, my emotions will not be affected in a negative way. I think most readers here will appreciate I don't lie or embellish. Things are as they are as they are. Finally, I love your avatar. Do you have it because that's the first time Vibe Magazine put a white woman on the cover? Wait I forget: do you get annoyed easily or not easily? I always forget that part. Keep readin', I'll keep writin'.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe this is her. It's the only picture I can find of her.

Hey Hey Hey interview Australia (65,968) by MusicfanJ from Germany
This interview shows a lovely MC. Mariah had a cold but she did her best and sounded so sexy. She acted like the superstar she is. And this is just too cute. I love all the interviews from Hey Hey Hey in Australia. Back in the day who could imagine that in 2015 Mariah would hire Stella B. I will never understand it.

Queen Sugar (65,967) by RibbonB from USA
Wow this new show on Oprah's network OWN, is epic already. The soundtrack sounds amazing. This is the kind of show Mariah would be perfect on, although I think it is a well thought out show that won't be parading random celebrities in cameos. But, Mariah could be perfect on it. At the least, she should try to get some of her music on the show. She has her hands full to the max with so much random stuff though, what a shame.

Re: Extra interview (65,959) (65,965) by B from USA
Agreed. Artist like The Weekend and Miguel take songwriting seriously which is why they praise Mariah and would chose to work with her instead of someone who just comes in and sings the songs like J.Lo. Yes, she's had a few writing credits but let's be honest she paid for those with the exception of Dear Ben which is and was a mess.

Re: Mariah's face (65,956) (65,964) by Marissa from USA
Whatever work she got done, it wouldn't be even a quarter as obvious if she would stop wearing those damn lashes. To me everything looked relatively normal, but it looked like she couldn't even open her eyes because of those horrible lashes.

In addition to what Shezz said, Liron's Twitter is "LironD". Don't know if it has her pictures but you can check it out.

Re: Extra interview (65,959) (65,962) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
That is actually a good point. I forgot about it. I guess I am just scared that she might trash all her work of her idea gets stolen and then it will be delay after delay. I hope she can keep her project a secret until it's time for the release.

Re: Liron (65,958) (65,961) by Shezz from Pk
If I remember correctly Liron was one of the people running Mariah Daily back in the day. She's female and from Israel and started working on Mariah's team quite a while ago. Seen her pic but don't have it on me.

Re: Extra interview (65,950) (65,959) by darrian liu from taiwan
I don't think The Weeknd would accept J.Lo's invitation if she asks him to collaborate. This is the guy that outright rejected a song from one of the biggest producers in the world, Max Martin and actually wrote together with him instead of accepting a pre-made, almost surefire hit. The Weeknd is somebody who values his work and won't drag his art down by collaborating with J.Lo.

Liron (65,958) by Shirley from United States
Hey guys, I've been searching the web for a few hours now trying to find out who Liron is and if he/she works with Mariah. And what he/she looks like, and let me say I've been unsuccessful in my search. I knew the only place I could get a straight answer or a picture of he/she? Would be here, I hope you guys can help.

I haven't watched the interview so I'm just going off what you said. I'm glad that Taraji and Mariah are being respectful to each other in the press. Even it there are issues, they are not dragging it out publicly to make each other look bad.

Mariah's face (65,956) by Natalia from Italy
I just can't believe how different she looks. Her face was so beautiful and perfect as it was. What happened? It's so sad to me. She was the last person I expected to alter their appearance. I hope she stops whatever the procedure is. Please don't follow in Joan Rivers footsteps.

Re: Duet With Ja Rule prevented a sophomore slump (65,936) (65,955) by 123 from USA
Well then the brainless one would be you since you replied to my post and were going on a few weeks ago about how she couldn't have known. Copying ideas to sabotage by releasing the songs before and when Loverboy was released to block its #1 potential is different from the label not initially giving credit to the original composers in the early 90's when sampling was still a new concept. Who couldn't hear Best Of My Love or I Want To Thank You in those songs? It was obvious. The difference is Sony compensated the original composers where Mariah was left scrambling to re-record and the borrower of ideas has yet to tell the truth or at least compensate her financially. Nonsense is trying to say both scenarios are the same, but then again, nonsense has been your platform since you arrived on the board.

If We (65,954) by lil star from untied states
I never knew all the drama behind the song (I didn't have much Internet access back then). I did always like the song when Glitter came out, and noticed the similar sound and theme to "I'm real". You have to wonder what could have been if Mariah had been able to put the song out first. It would have been a hit for sure and got its rightfully credit for creating a sound. The sound of that year. But it also goes to show that Mariah can always create the next big sound. Here's hoping she gets creative again and makes another sound movement

Who's the bigger diva? (65,953) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Just found this clip too, and they ask the cast of "Empire" who is the bigger diva? Mariah or Cookie? And Taraji just went ahead and praised Mariah a lot. I'm glad these are being addressed head on. Leaves absolutely zero space for drama and rumors. We need all the good promo we can get.
