More on that (49,354)
by Dove from USA

I just think that if you have enough of a problem to say something, the polite thing is to address the offender so that they can defend themselves. It's rude to make snide remarks and it can make people feel bad. When people cut me down for things I share, it takes the joy out of coming here, and sometimes it makes me feel ashamed, like I'm saying something bad. I expect sarcastic comments on comment sections of blogs and articles but not on a fansite.

You can take that message any way you'd like. I was just naming a song I'd love for her to cover. Are you the only one rattling off twenty songs for her to sing, as if she were JLo? I really don't know, and I don't care. Lastly, did you ever realize that maybe I didn't read your list. No, because you were to busy trying to tell me how to navigate this site. I don't need your advice. Thanks.

I happen to like the long lists of songs/dream covers fans post. I like to see what other artists and songs they like. Shelly keep posting as much as you want. I for one enjoy reading them. I've already posted my dream cover list. But now I've been listening to "Nobody's supposed to be here" by Deborah Cox. But the remix. It's from a dance cd called "Fired up" released back in 2003. I've always wished that Mariah had did some type of dance or techno type song. So when you have a chance, give it a listen please.

That was obviously directed at me so you should have directed it to me instead of talking about me like I don't visit this message board every day. Making a list of songs I'd like to hear her sing doesn't mean I think she's "basic". I've been a fan for a long time and have been collecting songs I'd like to hear her sing the whole time. I'm not throwing anything at her, it's not likely that she'll come on here, see my long list, and record every song on it. She hardly does covers as it is. It's a fantasy wish list that I'm sharing with other fans. I like reading lists made by other fans, sometimes I've never heard some of the songs people list, I look them up and try to imagine MC singing them. Some people don't like lists and that's fine. You can tell by glancing if it's a list or not so just don't read it. It's not like I post them every day. Your abrasive attitude is not attractive.

Little boy (49,350)
by Chris from United States

I know plenty of us are so excited to get rid of Nick, and rightfully so. But, this last article about him encouraging the residency tells me he will forever make sure that their names are tied together. Maybe he did encourage her to do this residency, but I'm sure he had motives. He was probably trying to line his pockets up some more somehow. It's funny, because he still needs her, but she's going to be just fine. I love how he filed for divorce right after he seen her career was taking major blows. Guess he didn't need her anymore, until he seen her getting her shit together, and miraculously he's back. He's going to go see her during her residency? Why, so he can hopefully throw her off her game? Just wanted to throw in my two cents on this little creep. I hope not to waste anymore posts on "it" again.

Vision of love (49,349)
by Danny Cedar from uk
| |
|
|
Is it just me or does anyone else here think Vision Of Love isn't Mariah's best song? I've never really liked it or the arrangement and it's not vocally anywhere near one of her best. Obviously it's iconic as it's her debut song and sound and is well written but I just don't get the popularity. Also I wouldn't choose it at all for a wedding or love song. It's very personal to Mariah and a sort of introduction to her journey to where she began in 1990.

My dream cover (49,348)
by Chris from United States
| |

I don't have a long list or anything, because I wouldn't just throw a bunch of songs at her, like she's basic. But, the one song I'm dying to hear her cover is Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. Now, I know many of you are probably screaming no and throwing things at your monitor, but listen to this song. I can hear her making this spectacular, in only the way she can. I would say, bringing Marc Shaiman into the picture would be the perfect way for her to respect the song and artist it came from. I know this will never happen, but a boy can dream.

JJ, USA, tickets (49,344)
by John john from UK

So I've looked all over and it appears that most seats on the lower area near the stage have gone. Although there are still seats elsewhere. Caesars really don't do bad seats and when we go a few night after opening night we are sitting on the first floor dead centre, still an amazing view. I'm sorry I couldn't help anymore, although I am pleased to see the tickets selling very well, which is always good. Have a look for yourself on axs.com.

I hope this is just a fake story. If not it just makes Nick look more and more like a narcissist. Taking credit for giving MC the idea in true narc fashion. I'm so annoyed by him.

Dream duets (49,340)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I just read my dream duets list again and just to be clear, some of those I wasn't serious. I like all of the songs but couldn't think of anyone to duet with so I just started being "funny". I don't really listen to Madonna, or Eminem (except for Lose Yourself) so I don't even know if they would match. Nick Cannon I was half kidding and I'm sure she could find someone better than Ariana to duet with. Maybe Kelly Clarkson. Obviously I was kidding about Jennifer Lopez. I did that list quick and couldn't think of anyone so I was just being dumb. I do like the songs though.

Covers album (49,338)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
Somewhere down the line, I would also like an album of covers. I know MC doesn't like singing other people's songs, but I like hearing her sing different styles and I don't think I'm alone. Thank you for letting me share my ideas on here guys. Her songs, even though they're great and different, they have her unique signature. When she sings covers it's like she's going into someone else's skin. When Do the Bells Ring For Me came on my playlist this morning and I was wowed by the soothing and understated beauty of it. I love when she does the vocal acrobatics but I also love her low key voice. Here's my list: We Are the Champions - Queen Time - Pink Floyd Live and Let Die - Paul McCartney With or Without You - U2 Good Vibrations - The Beach Boys Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon and Garfunkel At My Most Beautiful - REM Ordinary World - Duran Duran Waltz (Better Than Fine) - Fiona Apple Love Someone - Jason Mraz Magic- Colbie Caillat (or something like it, sung in that register) End of the Road - Boyz II Men Stand By Me - Ben E. King Always and Forever - Heatwave Three Little Birds - Bob Marley Somewhere Over the Rainbow Please Send Me Someone to Love (I don't know who sings this have only heard Fiona Apple's version) Embraceable You What A Wonderful World Young at Heart - Frank Sinatra They Can't Take That Away From Me - F. Sinatra Smile - Nat King Cole You and I - Stevie Wonder And of course (Ardis) anything by Aretha, Pattie LaBelle, and Nina Simone.

Ardis / dream duets album (49,337)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
My list is almost exactly lile Orkun's (49,286). The new verses have to fit the original storyline of the song; the different stories in BGK were so distracting. 01. Migrate - Beyonce 02. Cruise Control - Gwen Stefani 03. X-Girlfriend - Britney Spears (as the ex, telling her side) 04. Standing O - Madonna 05. Thirsty - Nick Cannon rapping (everyone thinks it's about him anyway, might as well go with it) 06. Outside - lead singer from the Fray 07. You Need Me - Jessie J 08. More than Just Friends - Babyface 09. When I Saw You 10. Everything Fades Away 11. You're So Cold - Adele 12. After Tonight - Bruno Mars 13. Circles - Ariana Grande 14. Now That I Know - 5th Harmony (harmonizing Motownphilly style) 15. Yours - Justin Timberlake maybe 16. If We - I don't think she would do it but wouldn't it be a scandal if she did it with Jennifer Lopez? 17. How Am I Supposed To Live - M. Bolton (if it sounds good) 18. Clown - only if it's with Eminem I'm okay with cut and pasting as long as the producer/engineer knows what they're doing and it sounds flawless. The bonus duets on MIAMTEC are not done well, but the songs on the Elvis Presley Christmas Duets album sound really good, so I know it can be done. I think it's okay to use existing vocal tracks that are already flawless, if it sounds organic. Her voice has changed with every era and I want to be able to still hear those different tones and textures in her voice.

Hi lambs, I saw some of you posting about not getting good seats. I actually got some extra tickets I no longer need that I'd like to sell to lambs for face value (what I paid). Two different listings: Memorial Day Sunday, May 24. Four total tickets together (willing to sell in pairs but would rather sell together). Section front Orchestra 5, row GG, seat 501-504. Last night Sunday, July 26. Two tickets together. Section front Orchestra 2, Row GG, Seat 205-208. If you're interested, please email me: juliehan1@gmail.com.

Oh hell no, 18 #1s really ranked (49,334)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
I do not agree with that list at all. Here is MCs #1s ranked in quality. 18. Thank God I Found You - No one knows this song but the lambs. The remix is hot though. 17. Hero - Cliche. She didn't even write it for herself. 16. I Don't Wanna Cry - Awesome production but too clean. 15. Dreamlover - Not the version she put together. Tommy interfered and made Wally A add to it to make a pop hit. 14. I'll Be There - A last minute add to a show. Think about that. 13. Love Take Time - A song she never performs or references at this point. 12. Someday - If the album version was the video aka the black version then this would be higher. 11. Don't Forget About Us - Awesome song but it was an afterthought/ written in a rush for a rerelease. 10. Touch My Body - Loveable melody. 9. Honey - Video makes this a top 10. 8. One Sweet Day - 16 weeks. Need I say more? 7. We Belong Together - If it weren't for her comeback and the final hook octave shift, this would be #18 on my list. 6. Emotions - The best she's ever sounded on wax. 5. Always Be My Baby - Pop meets JD. 4. Fantasy - Hip hop meets pop for the first time. Iconic. 3. Vision of Love - Who's first single is this dramatic (the opening and closing)? 2. Heartbreaker- Who puts 3 and 4 syllable words in a pop song? 1. My Al - The lyrics. The voice. The video. Perfection. Nothing like it.

How do you solve a problem like 18 #1's? (49,332)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |

Let me laugh thoroughly at this foolishness. So basically, Mariah has to be explicitly instructed to emote genuine sadness and joy when she sings, because otherwise she just won't? Oh, okay, my bad, I thought the only prerequisite to posting on this board was actually liking Mariah Carey for the songs she has done for 25 years that have made history on the charts worldwide. Pity Mariah draws from personal experience so much when she writes her songs, it's really hurt her career. Generic pop is where it's at and the more basic a vocal range the better. Great observation, only, how are artists supposed to get across the emotions of their songs if not through their voices? This new and obviously relevant musical direction is gonna be interesting to see as it unfolds. Really, it's got Mimi written all over it. In fact, if I didn't know better, I'd just call it miming. I'm willing to bet it's gonna be bigger than lipsyncing.

I should've looked at the persons name who asked about the venue size. I've actually seen Bette Midler and Cher out there and the seating is pretty good. It's not too big and it's not too small but I'm personally not a fan of floor seats only because most of the time it's standing and it's harder for me to see but that's just me so I got tickets for the rows behind the front sections. I hope this helps.

I would either go 5/9 5/16 or 5/23. Whichever gives me the best seats. I remember paying a boatload for HBF VIP and I got "okay" floor seats, nowhere near front row. If you could check I would be forever grateful.

Hi JJ. You are so lucky that you managed to get seats so close to the stage. Did you buy them as soon as they went on sale? As I will also be flying from the UK, I really need to get good seats (ideally first 3 rows) to go. Fingers crossed.

The future (49,327)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
It strikes me that perhaps the Mariah chart problem is that where the old school emotion was ballad or pop, these days it's genuine sadness vs joy. Not "I lost love" or "I fancy you". I listen to Budapest or Stay With Me and feel genuine exhilaration. It's not the voice, it's the emotion of the song. Even Up by Olly Murs and Demi Tomato. Mariah needs to follow a new sound that she hinted at with Beautiful but seems to abandon for the outdated formulaic, not matter how much we fans liked it. Imagine those feel good songs with her resonance behind them. She must start making relevanct music. Use British folk beat, EDM, etc. With the voice it could be the new birth. No need for ridiculous notes anymore. The sound is on the worlds consciousness. Then come back with relevancy. I believe the world loves Mariah Careys voice in spite of being dragged through her personal life. It feels possible to me.
