Wouldn't the "Beyonce element" be that it's initial release is on iTunes? I don't know why they're labeling the release a "surprise" and then providing a release "timeframe". I guess just something to talk about. Any who, I've been listening to Butterfly and the material from 2012-2014, along with other current music of today. And I must say shuffled all together, it's amazing the way everything from almost 17 years ago sounds so timeless and current.

I [...] when I read "singles since Triumphant failed". Who's the [...] of these failures? Just [...]. Because when you don't promo [...] these single in [...] tv show, you [...]. You remember Triumphant? One and only one performance: it went after 1 month from the release and was [...]. And what about Almost Home? Somebody remember one, I say [...] performance of this single? [...] Then came Beautiful, great job, finally, and the The Art Of Letting Go and You're Mine, both with one [...] performance. And everybody ask why those singles failed? Are you kidding me? The question is [...] You, singer, have to believe in your songs and try to [...]. A probable pushback (42,959)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Someone on this board mentioned a few posts below that the Observer states the album is out late May. I just went through the scans of Mariah's Billboard interview and in one of the pictures (the coloured version of the cover) there are 3 circles, one that has July 2013 written in it and then cut off with a red line (meaning cancelled), the second with May 6, 2013 written in it and then another red line through it and a final circle with the words "release date late May" or something like that. So either Mariah's management is trying to keep the fans guessing or the album will be out later in May. At this point I don't care, I just want good music and chart success for her. Also, it's written in the interview that the cover for the magazine is an outtake from her album shoot so fingers crossed for an equally fresh and classy album cover. And about people constantly talking about not buying the album, look it's your decision, but there's no need to come here every second day and start talking about how you won't buy it. If you decide not to buy, good for you, if not, move on. We are all disappointed/ anxious about the lack of information regarding the album, but let's not forget we have loved this woman for years and if she is not giving out details, she maybe has a plan and wants it to go accordingly. We waited so long, why not just a little longer?

Apparent surprise (42,958)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
It seems that the media is assuming the surprise/secret element of the release themselves and drawing comparisons to Beyonce. Nowhere has Mariah herself mentioned yet that the album will be a surprise or a secret - all she's said is that she will release all the info and music at once. I'm tired of the media attacking her for not knowing how surprises work. As for the possible short delay. [censored] Lambs take a deep breath and carry on with your lives. The album will get here when it gets here. Stop acting like you've been done this horrible personal injustice.

Get a hobby (42,957)

Here is a thought: Get a new hobby or jump back into an old one to pass the time till MC's album is released. No sense in getting all worked up over something you can't control.

Clarification (42,956)

My point with the waitress analogy was that you shouldn't spend money unless you are satisfied. Let's not make it seem like I compared her to a piece of trash. Waitresses are valuable human beings too, in fact wasn't Mariah one many years ago?

Child please (42,954)

Spending money consciously is stupid? You may want to take a personal finance class and educate yourself. There are definitely some middle schoolers on this site because last time I checked adults can at least respect someone's decision even if they disagree. Only adults understand the concept of standing on principle, even if it is regarding your fave. If it's that much of an issue than someone can give me the money for the album and I'll gladly buy it even if it comes out in 2016. I have no issue spending anyone else's money thoughtlessly but if it's mine I'll be spending wisely. I'm only doing this if it gets pushed back again, if it comes out on May 6th I'll be buying it like the rest of you, so calm down. If May 6th is a go then at least they would have been faithful to their word. I've said what I had to say. Some will buy and some won't. Next.

Actually magazine issues and shoots are done a couple of months in advance. According to Mariah herself the previous title The Art Of Letting Go has since been scrapped as for the new title its unknown to the public.

Mariah said it comes from a personal possession of hers that she's had almost all her life. I was tempted to think it is Marylin Monroe related but she only acquired the piano in 1999. And now in the new Observer interview she mentions having a hefty Monroe biography when she was a child. And she talks about her in almost half the interview. Hmmm.

I'm sorry but you saying you don't think it's childish is stupid. It is actually stupidly childish to not buy the album because it gets delayed. If it was 4 weeks late but the album ended up being absolutely brilliant are you really not gonna buy it because it was 4 weeks late? Childish. Oh and comparing it to service from a waitress is just laughable. I can't wait and I hope she releases it sooner than later.

Chill out people (42,947)
by ss from Canada
| |

I don't understand why people on here are pressed at how this era is turning out for them. It's not about you or the info leading up to the release date, it's about the final product at the end of the day. Comparing Mariah's work to that of a service from a waitress is disrespectful and it's also like comparing apples and oranges. Back in the day MC just released the damn album after her first single dropped and everything followed suit. Everyone is on edge constantly needing information and buying into so much miss-information, it's become a joke. There's a fixed date for May 6th, just roll with it, it's not that deep. I don't get why people are having panic attacks over the release date and album title. It's only another week so calm down, things will start popping up about the album in due time or all at once when it releases officially. Let's not over do this whole situation and draw conclusions when all everyone is doing is speculating. We won't know until MC tweets/facebooks/instagrams/press releases about the project herself. She said she wanted control, so at least give her some credit and protection of her own work. Until then, have a little faith, happy back catalogue listening everyone.

Late May (42,946)
by Jeremey Carey from United States
| |
|
|
I honestly want to believe that the album will come out around May 6th and not late May. I think that they may be saying late May, so when the album drops early May that it might have the surprise album effect instead of releasing it late for the surprise effect. I won't believe any pushbacks unless Mariah says so herself, but then again she hasn't been communicating with the fans lately.

My opinion (42,944)
by enwar00 from usa

For me, I don't feel like I have to buy the album or that I'm in any way obligated to do so. I will buy the album because I love Mariah and her music and always find enjoyment in all of her albums and therefore I want to. Whether the album was released in 2012, 2013, 2014 or 2015, I would be buying it. At the end of the day the delay won't matter to me because time rolls by anyway. Mariah doesn't disappoint me with her music and I feel a connection with it. That's just my opinion and how I feel.

Nobody's here for all that noise you keep making about "not buying the album when it drops". Yeah right when we all know you'll be one of the first people to rush out and buy it. Just spare us the headaches for having to hear you say it for the umpteenth time, you're beginning to sound like a broken record.

My money, my choice (42,942)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
I don't see anything childish about not buying an album if it gets delayed again after we've endured so much mess this era. Unlike Mariah, I'm not worth half a billion dollars so I think before I spend. Many of us have been expecting an album since 2012. I don't have a problem with the album not being ready, I have a problem with her/her team getting our hopes up and dropping us on our behinds constantly. If you know the album isn't ready, don't make us think it is. Apparently some people think that's an unreasonable request. The thing is neither I or anyone else who hasn't been satisfied in this era is dictating what she does because we have no power over her actions. We do have power over how and what we spend our money on. Some of you guys think that no matter how much bs we go through it is our job to spend our money on whatever she does, like it or not. Is this an album purchase or a tithe? I'm not obligated to do anything. Buying an album from a terrible era (if another push back happens) is like giving your waitress a big tip when you didn't even enjoy the meal or the service.

Album to be entitled "Champagne"? (42,940)
by PeterB from UK

I think it would work for several reasons: 1) We all know how festive MC is. 2) We know how much she likes Mimi splashes and moments dahling. 3) The album is about celebrating Mariah's legacy and future.

Push back (42,939)
by steven from usa
| |
|
|
I'm new to posting but I read the message board every day and I notice a lot of people saying they will not buy the album if it is pushed back. That is childish. How can you dictate when she releases her album? You are treating her like a child. "If you don't release when I say, I'm going to punish you by not buying the album." Come on now that's so ridiculous. Why not support her choice? This is her work not ours. Her albums are gifts to fans because we get to hear the beauty of her voice. Support her.
