Nick Cannon (42,374)
by B from USA

Nick left Nicole for Mariah. He admitted that on his radio show. He needs to learn from his wife what to share and what to keep private. She is classy and he is trashy. MC can do some much better than Nick. I think he has hurt her image and career. Since she married him her career has suffered. He is a joke. I hope she can get him to shut his mouth because his comments about his sex life with past partners and with Mariah is so bleak and makes him look childish. Nick Cannon needs to shut up and stop damaging MC career and legacy with his comments. I like him. He is a good looking guy. I liked him and thought he was hot when he was on All That back in the day but no he is a classless man acting like a spoiled little boy and then saying he was with Kim K which no one needed to know but he wanted to look cool like Christina, Selita, Nicole, and Kim all had sex with me I'm a stud.

Nick is her husband, and I can respect that. I don't follow him nor do I care for him but I do care for Mariah as we all do. So I just really wish he just sticks to being her husband only. He doesn't need to share private moments or direct videos, or actually for that matter be any part of her career. I just wish she wouldn't involve him because it damages her career.

About Nick (42,372)

You know what, days ago I leave a post about Nick and the fact that I can't stand him (all the people put me thousands of thumbs down lol), and yesterday when I was seaching for some good things about MC birthday I just found out that interview and I was like, this idiot again. Really he is a big loser. Mariah always kept her privacy in that way privacy but this "person" is going too far. A gentleman doesn't kiss and tell, and I'm going to say it again and again no matter how many thumbs down I get. I don't stand Nick Cannon.

Nick is getting absolutely ridiculous (42,371)
by Daydream327 from USA

Okay, not trying to stir anything but it has been a big headline today on all the blogs. I did respect Nick but now I have lost all respect for him. So I've just seen a recent interview he had with Big Boy radio and I am appalled. He went into detail about him and Mariah's sex life and even went on to talk about all the famous women he has "smashed" up to this point, and included Mariah in the list. Wow. How dare he disrespect Mariah like that? I can't even know what to say. This man is supposed to be a reflection of Mariah and is supposedly a "great" husband, but what great husband would do something so childish and disrespectful. And in the public at that? We all know MC loves very hard but I hope she can let her guard up and have a serious talk with him about it. Wasn't she just saying that he needs to shut up and not give TMI? And yet he's still doing it.

Nicks radio interview (42,370)
by G.G. from USA

Did anyone else catch the radio interview that Nick did where he was talking about sleeping with Kim Kardashian and then went on to say that on his and Mariah's honeymoon, he "f***** the s*** of her". That is just tacky and gross. If I was her, I would be really ticked off.

Mariah is the queen of covering songs from other artists. I really enjoy everytime she remakes a classic song and the music critics too. My favorites (studio covers): I'll be there (Jackson's 5) Against all odds (Phill Collins) Bringing on the heartbreak (Def Leppard) My avorites (live covers): If only you knew/somewhere over the rainbow (Patti Labelle) You and I (Stevie Wonder) With you I'm born again

The first time I heard of Mariah Carey (42,368)
by Myles from CT, USA

Believe it or not, I used to be Whitney Houston's number one fan. It was around 1992 and The Bodyguard soundtrack had just come out. I was a young 8 year boy who would listen to Whitney's powerful instrument over and over in my room. I knew of Mariah and I didn't even give her a chance, I was all about Whitney. Does anyone else remember the "Whitney vs Mariah" show on VH1? Anywho, "Dreamlover" came out and I about had a homosexual panic. Music Box was the first cd album I ever had, which I got that following Christmas. Ever since then Mariah has been the queen of my heart. Although I must admit growing up listening to Mariah between 1993-1995 were the best years a fan could have.

Tennessee (42,367)
by Pablo from Spain

To totally change the subject, yesterday I watched Tennessee for the first time to celebrate Mariah's anniversary. Mariah did an awesome job, although the movie got kind of long for only being 1 hour and 40 minutes (not her fault). Right To Dream remains one of my fave songs. I had almost forgotten all about this movie. So glad I got the time to see it. Mariah is underrated as an actress, but I do prefer her singing, of course.

First time (42,365)
by Albert P. from Indonesia

The first time I knew of Mariah's existence was back in 1998. I saw her performance on TV. She sang "My All" for her Japan concert and it was televised live on MTV Awards. I was not a fan yet until I woke up after my appendicitis surgery. I was lying down in the ICU when that same song played on the radio. When I got discharged from the hospital, I remember asking my cousin who that woman is and if she is famous. My cousin looked at me like, "Are you being sarcastic?" Lol. Anyway, I began collecting Mariah's music ever since.

Mus what a great post (42,364)

Happy birthday Mus lamby. Thank you for summing things up, I think that for most of the lambs the connection is a love of music and some great sense of loneliness and inferiority mixed with strength. I do think this is why we are so dependent on Mariah and her music. As a kid I also just sat and read the lyrics and just cried and cried, so cathartic.

Happy anniversary Mariah (42,363)
by Manny from U.S.

Happy Anniversary Mariah who is eternally 12. Wow, I still remember when I was in 6th grade watching her on MTV. I wanted to know everything about her. I bought the album. I had to buy the cassette different times, as I played it nonstop and it would get damaged. Who remembers those days? I bought the VHS The First Vision and play it nonstop. My favorite part was her backstage at the Saturday Night Live singing "All in your mind" acapella. The high notes.

Mariah speaks for my soul (42,362)

I had seen Mariah on Arsenio and myself and my sister would sing her songs, my father was a Musial so we grew also with bands in the house well the trailer in southern Cali. Poor outsiders and I was so shy and so tall. I became a lamb with her Thanksgiving day special her so gas made me just cry and cry. I needed a friend, I needed to find my inner hero, I needed a vision of love and a fantasy to come true. I was bullied very badly until I started to sing and then entered the top school choir which changed my life. My senior solo always be my baby I put I. My year book see you on the farm in upstate NYC and my high-school nickname was Mariah. I moved to NYC, finally met Mariah at the Butterfly sighting. Lamb forever always.

Wow you must really love Outside. It's definitely one of her best songs ever. So heartfelt. Everytime I listen to it I find myself back in my room as a teenager, reading and singing along to the lyrics. I hardly listen to it now, it brings back a lot of painful memories. Like you said I'm sure a lot of other fans that felt different connected to that song similarly - multiracial, homosexual, etc. Especially since those issues still classified people as outsiders in the 90s (not that they still aren't now today). But you're right, the song speaks to anyone who feels different, like an outsider and like something's supposed to be wrong with that. She is living proof that being an outsider makes us better somehow.

Gilbert / J Lo (42,358)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
Haha J Lo autocorrected to J Lol. Anyway, yes there is a history between the two. When Mariah left Sony for Virgin, it wasn't on the best of terms. Sony had the rights to the Glitter soundtrack in Japan, and so Tommy Mottola allegedly had access to the songs before they were released. J.Lo released a song which used an obscure sample (Firecracker by Yellow Magic Orchestra) which was the sample used in the original version of Loverboy. Mariah had to re-sing and re-record the song with a new sample (Candy) and Mariah's been pissed at J.Lo and Sony's campaign to derail her career ever since.

First time (42,357)

I've enjoyed reading gall of your stories, this is a great subject. I first heard Dreamlover back in 1993. My older brother was obsessed with the MTV Countdown and I used to watch it with him. I remember loving her look, and her voice. I thought she had a speech impediment due to the way she sang "insi-eede" and "tii-eem" lol. Then Hero came out and I again loved the song and the video, and remembered seeing the Hero cassette in a record shop and almost buying it. My real obsession came, like many of us Europeans, when Without You took our entire continent by storm. I wonder why that song connected to us all so much. I bought the cassette single, and soon after the Music Box album. My bedroom was being painted and I was sharing my brother's room in a sleeping bag, and I would listen to the album on my Walkman all night long. Reading the lyrics, admiring the pictures, and eager to listen to her other records that were advertised in the inlay.

Is there beef between these two? I was checking out #mc327 and her most crazy moments and she was asked about J.Lo and she replied "I don't know her" like she was irked and there is a some statement about her being on stage with a pig rather then perform with J.Lo.

Dude, great, great post. You articulated so well how Mariah can stretch the word "a" into a 95 syllable word. Lol and the emotions that delivery inspired. Then, you being obsessed with "Outside" as you were. Boss man, I have a tattoo of a music sheet that starts at my left biceps and wraps all the way around my body ending on the tip of my right toe. Along the edge of it are the lyrics to that entire song. That song is my anthem. I'm not biracial but if you listen to it closely, as I'm sure you totally have, it can apply to anyone that has felt "significantly different" to the people around them. I was always the weird one out and always felt one step behind the norm and that song was a cleansing for me, each time. I enjoyed many a "puff" sessions listening to and crying over that song. Just like you said, it's like being lucky enough to have that "one" friend that "gets you". Every single word in that song applies to me. And I'm sure there are many "me's" out there. We love you MC. Thank you for your life altering gifts.

The first time I heard Mariah was with Dreamlover on 40 Principales Radio, the principal radio station in Spain. I was 17 and her music literally saved my life. I was a liltte depressed for a bad romance. I remember I thought it was the most beautiful voice around the world and I fell in love with the song. After I saw the video on TV and wow her face, her body, that perfect smile, that amazing charisma. I still love the Dreamlover video. I bought Music Box, I love all songs. In less than two months I found Emotions and Mariah Carey, her previous CD shock me a lot for her maturity, voice and amazing songs. Now I'm 37 and still listenning to her all music. Well during MOAIA I admit I didn't like it at all and lost my faith in her music and I discovered all about MK ultra and it dissappoint me a lot. But after two years without listening any Mariah song, suddenly one day I started do it again with Merry Christmas II You. There ara a lot of singers that follow illuminattis rules, but not Mariah. She's connected with herself and the universe.

First time I heard Mariah (42,350)
by Darryle from USA

The first time I heard Mariah was the song "It's like that". I was 5 when it came out and I remember blasting everywhere I went. In the car, on the way to school, everywhere. After that song I lost touch and didn't hear from her until Obsessed and I became obsessed with that song. But I lost touch after that too. Luckily I found TAOLG, after that I became an official lamb. My first album was Butterfly.

First time knowing of Mariah (42,349)
by Eternal from Italy
| |
|
|
It was 95 or 96 and everyone was talking about her song Hero. I was still in primary school and I remember her name was a little hard to pronounce lol. Then I saw her video for AIWFCIY after my favourite cartoon every weekend and I loved the youthful, joyous nature of the song. My first Mariah album was Rainbow (bought in 1999), but I didn't listen to any more Mariah music until 2008, when a university friend got me interested in her music again. I listened to E=MC2, loved it and started watching all of her videos on YouTube and was amazed by the quality and quantity of her back catalogue. I've been a lamb since. I have to say that phase back in 08 and 09 of eagerly listening to all her old songs was lovely. Hearing songs you never knew and loving almost every single one of them, this endless discovery of the wonder that is Mariah Carey.
