The Art Of Letting Go is technically Mariah's 11th studio album, not her 14th. The MTV Unplugged EP and her two Christmas albums plus numerous compilations don't count. Lets see if You're Mine Eternal can hold it's place on the iTunes chart until the end of the tracking week Sunday night at midnight and where it debuts in the Billboard Hot 100 next week. If it and two later singles from the album end up #1, she breaks the Beatles Hot 100 record of 20 #1 singles. Though there are artists in genre specific charts like hot Country songs who have more than 20 #1 singles, including Tim McGraw who has 35, his most recent being Southern Girl in summer 2013, mind you two of those are duets with his wife Faith Hill as in 1997's It's Your Love and 2001's Angry All The Time.

You're Mine (41,189)

I Love it. It's sleek and mellow, just really a lovers' jam. Melodic wise, it's very catchy and sits in your mind with just one listen. Just beautiful. I also love how its hooks aren't even obvious, and those vocals are on point. Mariah Carey is indeed a music genius. Currently it sits at No.11 on iTunes USA so I guess it resonates with the general public. Congrats Mariah for yet another gem added to your already vast body of work. Lots of love.

Mariah vs Lea (41,188)
by Justin from USA - Los Angeles
| |
|
|
Mimi isn't the only singer who recently came out with a single titled "You're mine". Lea Michele released the single off of her Louder record. The two songbirds were battling it out on the iTunes Charts in the US. However Mimi won, she is currently sitting at #11. However, Lea's single fell off of the iTunes charts so fast, she is now at #72.

I love You're Mine. Very sweet and romantic. I can't wait to see the video. I also think it will be successful on the radio. It'll get airplay, it grows on you the more you listen to it I think.

YME (41,186)
by Brad from USA

Hi Lambs. I hope everyone is well and treating one another with respect. I would give YME 2.5 out of five stars. I was hoping for something groundbreaking but it's not horrible. My interest is in seeing if this track and MC make it to radio for an extended period of time, not just 1 day. I do wish the vocal track had been laid on top of the synth track, its a bit buried. Music reminds me of HATEU, which to me, is a far better song btw. Anyhow, lets just enjoy it for what it is. She owes us nothing and vice versa, but we both are happier when things are succesful. Be well.

Carlos / YME (41,185)
by Elena from The Netherlands

Carlos, I agree with your comments. I think Mariah is playing safe with this song for the charts and kept it radiofriendly. I don't really like it for several reasons. Sometimes a song is a grower, but this really won't do it for me. The first thing I don't like is the pauses between the words "I.can't.seem.to.give.you.up.you're.mine". It's not creative and makes it sound boring. I also think this song has a more B-side quality and it's too safe played using a combination of WBT and TMB formula's. It might work for the charts, but as an addictive listener of all her music I'm more critical to what she brings out. Vocally she sounds good on it but it gets a bit overwhelmed by the music and effects. I imagined this song played unplugged with a guitar leading the melody and it instantly sounded better in my head. I think a second Unplugged is really what she should go for, and show off her creative adlibbing skills to gain back the respect that she deserves for her incomparable voice. The last thing I want to add is that I wished she would've done is release an epic hot uptempo track that would keep her momentum going up untill the 6th of May. Something that would rock the clubs and radio. 2 months is a long time and unless YME becomes the hit everyone is hoping for, the gap between the single and the album is too long. All in all I'm glad it's received well by most of her fans and I hope it will do well regardless of my opinion on the song.

You're Mine versions (41,184)
by Gerome from Canada

It's interesting that the original seems to be more melodic than the remix in terms of the piano ticks a la We Belong Together. The remix is quieter and more vocally driven but with much more interesting sequence and arrangements mainly because of Trey's verses. Both stand out on its own. Beautifully. MC is a genius. I'm loving the "My... m-ayyy..." at the intro. Pure heaven. The racy beat all throughout the song is infectious.

Mariah has been stuck in a We Belong Together rut ever since it went number one. Same theme, same build, same disconnect. Her music is so molded these days, it doesn't carry any emotion. She needs to stop comparing herself to herself, We Belong Together was a special moment but it was 10 years ago, could we move on please? I hope it does well, I'm just bored of the whole concept.

Didn't exactly fell in love with it at first listen but I know it will grow on me, that's happened a lot with her material in the past. I like the remix version better because there's a lot more happening on that one vocally and they sound hot together. I honestly think that could be a bigger hit. Hit or not, I'm so excited that Mariah is back, that's all that matters to me. I'll always support her. The new video looks amazing from the screen caps. That's no surprise, she's gorgeous.

The View and Bobbi Kristina (41,179)
by Blake from USA

Ok, so even though it shows MC in the program for cable networks, Mariah was not on The View today. I taped it and watched it back. Mariah wasn't even mentioned so I knew. I agree, Bobbi Kristina has no talent. Have you seen her sing on YouTube? Besides if she did, Whitney would had her singing by now and I'm not talking about just at the beginning of Whitney songs, my love is your love kid singing. She could never carry on her mother's legacy and I feel horrible for her losing her mother and icon that Whitney was, but she ain't cut out for this biz. Prayers to her. I bet the Mariah involved with her music career statement isn't true. I think I love the remix more. I hope it charts this time. Radio better be playing it.

I am glad the new single is a hit with us fans. I am also excited that it is produced in such a way that I can imagine an engaging live performance. Still, I'm curious if anyone, like me, wishes that the engineering revealed more of her vocal texture and placed her vocals on top of and not slightly under the instrumentation. Is it just me? I really like the texture of Mariah's voice on The Art Of Letting Go. I am hoping the album will bring us more of that. Your Mine still sounds great, though!

Mrs. Mariah, please stay away from Bobbi Kristina. She is not very talented and you do not owe this to Whitney. Stick to your own career darling and stay away from that unlikeable mess.

Carlos / ZachMC / Mariah's video (41,173)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Carlos, well if you put it that way, you do have a point. I do agree with some of the things you have said. But hey the whole album is left, MC might still have the songs you are looking for, don't worry! ZachMC, the word eternal is repeated many times at the end according to some lyrics, although I didn't catch it, so I can't be sure at all. Lambs have you managed to catch some of the shots of MC's music video? The one in Puerto Rico, she looks so sexy and vulnerable at the same time. Gorgeous woman.

Ok, so I saw this still photo of Mariah herself in the YME video and it looks absolutely stunning. Indrani have made something so magical. I just wondered why IDJ did not choose a still photo from the video and use it as the cover art for You're Mine. But ok, those candies still looked cute.

Blake is right, you literally have to search Mariah's name and the song title for it to come up. I couldn't download it before I did this. You might also try logging out of iTunes and logging back in. I freaking love the song, both versions. It'll be interesting to see how it does. If you ask me, it's a hit. That last note just blows my mind. I think the WBT part is accurate. I love the M.I.N.E. bit in the remix version. Brilliant. Have a great day, everyone.

I read the lyrics to "You're Mine" and I totally love it now. I didn't like "Touch My Body" the first time I heard it either and now it's one of my favorites. My mother was right about it growing on me.

I feel you, girl and appreciate your opinion. I actually appreciate your delivery. Now, to clarify, I never hoped for similar "music" as the 90's. I specifically referenced her singing style. My reference to TAOLG was that she "sang" in that song. Not that it was a good song or a "chart topper". However, she was all-over-the-place vocally, in a good way. She has this need to sing very "urban" now. Thats where my "staccato" comment comes in. The fluidity is gone. It doesn't matter what the beat is, or what "time" we live in. If she still "sang" the song, like only she can (even still with whatever damage her voice has endured), she could add any kind of music, artist, vibe, instrument or collabo that she wants. It's not the music. Look at Adele, or many very current artists that still "sing" and are chart toppers, using ballads or slower, mid-tempo songs. If she was still doing amazing "vocal work", like I'm certain she can still do, our impression would be different. I think she "blands" her songs out now so that she can sing them live without everyone bashing the shit out of her, rather than dubbing, editing and pasting together a masterpiece like onlyshe can deliver. I think if we want Mariah to hit a number 1, she needs to relinquish all her artistic liberty to someone newer and fresher and then, with instruction, layer the vocals, again, [...]. If she wasnt clouded by the need to write her own stuff, I think we would have what we are all looking for.

You're Mine (Eternal) (41,168)
by Xavier Peoples from United States

Usually when Mariah drops a new record I have it on repeat at least for a few days. Lol. But with this song I just can't do that. Especially the remix. I think it's a little dramatic when Trey talks about killing himself. This might be the first time that Mariah has had a lyric that I didn't like. I just feel like as long as Mariah has been in the game that she needs to come out with something fresh and new to help her remain relevant. Like when she released "Touch My Body", "Obsessed" or even "#Beautiful". Those songs were all exciting and a departure from previous hits. I just wish she would do something less predictable. Hopefully the song will grow on me, but for now I am back to "#Beautiful".

Two "You're Mine"s (41,167)
by ZachSingsMariah from USA

It just occurred to me that she probably added on the "(Eternal)" bit to the title to avoid confusion with Lea Michele's new single (which is Top 20 on iTunes this week). Definitely a smart move as the last thing this awesome song needs is to be confused with another song. I am loving both "You're Mine"s (especially Mariah's, of course! ).
