Q&A on 11/11 - Walter (39,671)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
I really hope lots of people ask her about Walter in the Q&A. She's never ruled out working with him again, and it'd be nice to see if it's even a consideration of hers given that Walter spoke about it so recently. It'll certainly be the question I ask anyway!

Voice plus ideas for live shows (39,670)
by Elena from The Netherlands
| |
|
|
Hi. A while ago there was someone who mentioned that MC's voice was at her peak during the Merry Christmas album. I totally agree. It was the perfect mix between Music Box and Daydream and because they were Christmas songs she put so much vocal freedom in it. Just listen to her go in Jesus Oh What a Wonderful Child and that crystal clear voice in God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Miss You Most. You can also tell by the dance-remixes where she is playing so much with the ad-libs and lets her vocals run freely during that time. I believe her best dance remix was Hearbreaker/If You Should Ever Be Lonely. I hope she does that live one day and also My All/Stay Awhile instead of the original version going into the dance-remix, which is really getting old now. And what about Always Be My Baby R&B remix going from guitar and just her vocals going into the full remix? I mean that wouldn't hurt her voice since it's done very whispery. Just some ideas, I wonder how everyone else thinks about some creativity with her live shows with the brilliant remixes she's already got!

Is it me or are people confused that Monday the 11th is just a new single? It's not the album, it's the title track people. Katy Perry mentions "Mariah Carey" on her new album, I forget what song though. Celine's new album has a Stevie duet as well, only it's his classic hit "Overjoyed". I don't care for it. I hope Mariah's duet is an original and not a cover song with Stevie. Just saying. Mariah's photo shoot looks months ago, because clearly she has gained the weigh back. I do wish she would dress smarter.

Lots of mention of Stevie Wonder here lately. I think it's interesting how he's on Celine Dion's brand new album and may be on Mariah's as well.

Hi Billy from Greece, I got this photo from a website called www.mariahcareynetwork.com, where they have thousands of Mariah pictures: photoshoots, candids, music video stills, etc.

Molly Meldrum 1997 interview (39,665)
by Billy from Greece
| |
|
|
Check out the full interview of Mariah and Molly Meldrum from 1997 prior to the release of "Butterfly", which is 40 minutes plus long. She is digging deep into the creative processes of the records. Molly asks her some really good, music-oriented questions. Parts of it have already been on youtube, but this one contains even more details, at least ones that I had not found before.

Hi Mika! Could you please let me know if the photograph of Mariah you're using here is available somewhere online? I know It's the cover of "Anytime You Need A Friend", but I'd like to find it without the title and name on it just like you have it. Thanks.

Deluxe CD (39,660)
by Tony from Ireland

|

That would be a little to much from Mariah. Im,really sure she has this duet, and it will be part of the new album, an album that I do expect comes with a bonus CD with tracks such as Triumphant, Almost Home and #Beautiful. And how amazing will it be if that deluxe edition will include a dvd with videos and the making off of the album? She was recording a documentary not so long ago. Will this be it?

Studio (39,659)

Many performers and producers have been in the studio with MC and not recording or producing. She's mentioned several, including Quincy Jones, among others. Anyways, it was just a thought.

What sense would it make for Stevie to just randomly be in the studio listening to a random Mariah/JD song and not be apart of it? That would be a bit much, don't you think? I'm sure Mr. Wonder has better things to do with his time. So it's safe to say that the duet is confirmed.

Um. I think JD's update is saying Stevie is listening to our song. In the sense that Stevie is listening to Mariah and JD's song. Did anyone else interpret the update this way?

New music (39,654)
by Tony from Ireland
| |
|
|
Hi everybody. I think the best thing about Mariah's new single is that in fact we still can have new music from her. I do not care how she was sounding back on the 90's when she was 20, I do care that she is still blessing the world with her unique and powerful voice. And if we look to other artist in the bussiness, there is always a difference on their voices. I do love the idea of Mariah and Stevie singing together. And I do love everything about this new era - single cover, release platform. I guest that's why I'm a fan, because I never find anything wrong with her music, and I feel cherished I still have her music around, although I was a little bit shocked with Triumphant. Anyway, I love her.

Hi, I'm new here, and a big Mariah Carey fan. I am so excited for this new album, and we only have a week left. What do you think of the Stevie duet? Do you think it will open with big numbers like Emancipation and E=MC2?

Stevie Wonder, new album (39,652)
by T from USA
| |
|
|
All I know is if Stevie and Mariah have a song together and it features real live instruments, it's going to be one of the best songs ever created. I really hope it's on her new album and I hope she doesn't rule out the idea of working with Walter Afanasieff one more time for this album. That way all the different generations of her fans are covered with this new music. (Something for everyone.) Remember on November 11 to tweet, facebook share, and get the word out about the listening party and the new single. Mariah needs us now. A successful song could finally launch the new album.

Stevie and Mariah? (39,651)
by Will from England

Whilst I am excited by the prospect of there being a duet between these two legends, let's bare in mind that nothing has been confirmed yet. Hell, we don't even know if the rumoured duet is going to make it onto the album, let alone whose album it may be on/for, since it has been reported that Stevie is planning to release two albums in 2014. But let's hope that I'm wrong as usual and that it is indeed true! JD seems to be doing everything right thus far.

Mariah: Most talked about on Facebook (39,649)
by Carol from Spain
| |
|

Mariah is one of the top talked about artists on Facebook. Right now she has over 91,000 people talking about her, beating artists like Rhianna, Beyonce and Bieber. Mariah always causes interest, especially in a time where music is so degrading with the likes of Miley, Bieber and Rhianna. Bring on the good music.

Mariah and Stevie. (Let me breath.) The feelings going trough me, the toughts of how absolutly amazing this could be. Can you believe this? Honestly, this is the perfect duet partner for Mariah. A classic tune is coming, maybe another song of the decade (crossing my fingers). Yes, I can dream about it. And in 8 days we'll have a taste of what's to come.

TAOLG album (39,647)
by Ryan from the Philippines
| |
|
|
Ok, so this is just a follow-up. After the shocking photo that Mariah tweeted today that showed Mr. Stevie Wonder in the studio, I came back to the album tracklisting that leaked around August. And as far as I can remember, I was having mixed emotions when I read it because that tracklist could be real or fake (you know, everyone can fabricate stories, etc. especially if it's coming from the internet). There was the song The Art Of Letting Go and people did not once buy the idea/concept, even with the album title. And there was the song I'll Still Be Around with Stevie and produced by Walter Afanassief and some people did not care yet now the duet is confirmed. And a whole lots of surprising and promising things like the R. Kelly duet, the Big Jim Wright produced tracks, etc. My only wish is the W. Afanasieff thing is true. Now, looking back to the TAOLG teaser, some people said it could be an intro and based on the tracklist, prior to TAOLG there is an interlude. I am speculating the music we heard on the teaser is the interlude called 'Lullaby of Birdland'. I'm a bit sceptical when it comes to some things that were not confirmed just like this tracklisting but right now, I just don't know, everthing is slowly turning into reality. Anyway, everything's going to be confirmed as final in due time. Sooner.

I feel a duets compilation is in the works. Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, Usher, Brian McKnight, Trey Lorenz, Ne Yo, Westlife, Dru Hill, Damien Marley, not even mentioning the remix collabo's, guest rappers and live duet performances (Aretha, Patti). Have I left anyone out?

MC and Stevie (39,645)
by Gerald from USA by the way of NYC

At first take I could not believe my eyes. I thought, no this can not be happening. And when I read other comments on social media, it sunk in. This is really going down. I was so pleased to see that MC has finally gotten into the studio with someone she has respected and admired forever. I have to say that so far this MC and JD management situation is looking very positive and I can not wait to see what this partnership has in store for us. But for right now, I am intrigued to hear what MC and Stevie Wonder cooked up in the studio. Bring it on.

Brad (39,644)
by Bill from the UK

You make a great point Brad, as long as Mariah continues to make music (even three year agonising waits between records) then I will be happy. For me, I am not that interested in chart positions either. Of course some fans want to see her succeed, and there is nothing wrong with that, and even more so when the artist you support found success with nearly everything she released in her earlier years. But if techno music is what it takes to reach number 1, wouldn't we all rather Mariah stick to her style and sound rather than jumping on the bandwagon for the sake of a hit? She has 18 number ones and absolutely nothing to prove.

Memoirs (39,643)
by MissunderstoodAngel from United states
| |
|
|
I agree with this article and I don't at the same time. Overall , I think the album was great for the fans, it was awful however for commercial purposes. It could have been a save if it was given the proper promotion, better commercial single release choices, and actual effort on Mariah Carey's behalf herself. Mariah's grown lazy with promotion in recent years. As for Obsessed being a poor choice for the lead singe, I have to completely disagree. Hello, it was the highest charting single. That itself says something. It could have very well been her 19th #1 but once again Mariah did very very little promotion. And aside form the AGT performance, the other few were very "sloppy". The rest of the single choices were awful. Yes! Standing O should have been released as a single. Mariah and her team should have know better than to release a chain of basic ballads during a time of uptempo frenzy. Standing O would've been perfect, it was up tempo yet very Mariah. BGK should have been another one. Inseperable or Ribbon should have been the next. Then she should of closed the album with a ballad, preferably HATEU or a reproduced Angels Cry.
