Duets for TAOLG album (39,641)
by Ryan from the Philippines
| |
|
|
I was excited to learn that R.Kelly is a part of the album as confirmed by Mariah herself like a year ago. But now, I can't be more excited to hear that yes, the great Stevie Wonder is in too. Dang! I can't wait to hear their song. I'm sure it will be a wonderful love song from the fact that both singers are ubergenius musically and as songwriters. TAOLG album sounds so promising, really. A must have.

I agree. What great songwriting! I rather have albums like that than hit singles. She;s so successful, I don't even worry about charts and all that. Who cares as long as she's making music?

Singles from MOAIA (39,638)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
|
|
Based on the article, I do believe that Standing O would be the perfect lead single. The song would made the public anxious and curious to know who's the identity of the male friend that broke Mariah's heart, and this will build anticipation for them to buy Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel to get to know other stories from Mariah. For the second single, I would pick 100% (unreleased track) because the song is so inspirational yet catchy chorus for the public to sing along. 100% could be Mariah's new version of Make It Happen. The third single, I would pick Angels Cry and the fourth single would be Up Out My Face.

MOAIA article (39,637)
by Lainsky from Philippines

I agree with almost everything the article did say about the album, specifically wrong lead track and follow up releases. Also, it reveals MC's personality like no one has seen before like it said and it is full of artistry and showcased her incredible talent as a songwriter and an artist. It will appeal commercially in my opinion only if IDJ and MC released "Standing O" or yes "HATEU" and then "Inseparable" and "More Than Just Friends" could have followed. I disagree though about the comment on "Candy Bling", because for me this is really a good song and single for release along with "Betcha Gon' Know" and "Angels Cry" then "IWTWLI" could have been released as the last track. And yes if you did not know this album, then you missed one of MC's great work. This is in the same quality, for me, with Glitter, which is unfairly murdered by the media.

Memoirs article (39,636)
by Andrew crisostomo from Canada, niagara falls

That article was very good and had some very true points. In the end it wasn't a very good move to "get back" at Eminem. It's a childish thing they are both doing. Especially with loud mouth nick cannon in it too. But w.e. IWTKWLI can never be a single in this era. But as a lamb, I love it. Mariah's management gotta choose a single that's not too commercial or too choir like. #Beautiful is a perfect example. I love that song. And I always praise Mariah for not jumping in on the techno faze. Thank you Mariah.

If you think she is the best, then why are you complaining about her music and image? It makes no sense to say that she can't hit #1 yet she is the best. Personally, I don't see a problem with her image when other artists ,who are older (and younger) than she is, have done worse than she had conceived of doing. It is funny how nobody squawked too much about Lady Gaga performing nude in some gay club, but people complained about Mimi showing cleavage on Twitter. It seems that some of the British would endorse Gaga and Madonna's raunchy antics on stage, but they would be the first ones to tell Mimi to cover up.

Memoirs article (39,634)
by Bill from the UK
| |

The article on MOAIA was interesting, but Foreigner sang IWTKWLI, not Journey (that was Open Arms). I do agree that Obsessed was an appalling choice for a lead single, as it sticks out like a sore thumb on an otherwise mellow album. Betcha Gon' Know, HATEU, Ribbon and IWTKWLI were all great, but never really got their shot. A real shame.

Ryan / album over (39,633)

Memoirs was not hip hop. She did try to move Memoirs in that direction with the remixes, but the original was far from hip hop. I still don't see this too sexy album cover everyone is talking about. Yes, it's photoshopped a lot, but too sexy? I've seen sexier from her.

I couldn't agree more with the article. Memoirs was a lackluster album, like Charmbracelet Part II (though I can tolerate listening to the latter without skipping a track). It was not that bad compared to any artists' album, but I think she went too dark/underground hip-hop with the album concept. Obsessed was not a good kick-off single plus the heavy, unecessary autotuning didn't help. Up Out My Face could have been better and followed by HATEU, Obsessed, Betcha Gon' Know (it could have had been made to a video using the concept of the song), Candy Blng and I Want To Know What Love Is.

I hope this new single will be amazing. Number one? Maybe. Honestly, I really don't care if Mariah does not have another number because it seems so obvious to everyone that she is trying to get a number one record. She needs to understand that she has lost that magic she had when she first came out. Back then her music spoke for her and now it seems she is doing all the talking without the music. Her insistence on doing the same kind of music over and over again has become so tired. Rent a rapper, hip hop collabos is so 2002. I love Mariah, but she has really put herself down in the game. If she comes out with a great record, she puts people off with a lame and tacky video. Beautiful is the best rnb song released this year, but the video and lack of promotion just killed that one. Mariah needs to come out with a new image, sexy but classy, more serious and mature manner. The new song is not out yet, but we already have an" I am too sexy" promo pic. She needs an image overhaul. It's frustrating because she is the best.

Mariah or Mimi (39,629)
by Yolanda from Catalonia

Hi lambs. My English is poor, but I'll try. I have nostalgia sometimes because Mariah in her beginning was so perfect, she had magic in her music, in her smile, in her naturally, when she sang live, when she did playback (rare), when she did an interview. But now she has lost part of her charisma. It's true. We can accept her maturity, it's natural. I'm 36, I grew up with her music, I have to get old too. But the problem is that Mariah is more inmature now than in her 20s. Stop using rappers in her songs please. A few songs is alright, but now it is weary. Mariah has to be aware that she lost her fans. And also I think that Tommy was only the person who paid for the production and who had the power. The success of Mariah belongs to Mariah. Michael said, "Tommy is the devil."

On a lighter note, what about if Mariah re-released Glitter? I must admit that it is one of my favourite records ever, it's on my top 3 from Mrs MC Cannon. It was a very underrated work.

Past and Future (39,627)
by Carol from Spain

Still regarding my previous post, I'm just saying that we should let her be the way she wants to be. What most of you doesn't realize is that the real Mariah Carey is the one we met in 1997, the urban chick with flavour for Pop, Hip Hop and RnB, not the one who was covered up to her neck. She unleashed her sexier side in 97 and never gave it up. People are free to like or deslike her attitude, her looks, but that also applies to her. She can't be what everyone wants her to be, she has to be herself in her music. I believe her new album is going to be amazing and probably, the most personal record yet. 11.11 is around the corner for the first taste.

Let the past be past (39,625)
by Carol from Spain
| |

|
Some people need to stop living in the past and accept Mariah how she is. I've said this before here. Mariah is a superstar in her own right, she would make it with Tommy or with him and I agree with lamb_O_Chop about the influence Tommy had on her music or success. Mariah hates some her first songs because they were overproduced by Sony. The 90's are gone and people need to accept what she wants to do, because I think we all understood already that Mariah will not change her style, because the majority of people doesn't like it. She has her own thing. She wants to be etternally 12? So be it. Or she wants to wear laced swimmsuits on the covers? Good for her! The photos are photoshopped yes, but everyone does it and in worse ways. Fans need to accept her the way she is and leave alone all these criticis.

Mariah sounded so confident with her voice for those songs. She belted those songs from start to finish just like when she was in Daydream era. Those three songs defined her catchphrase "The Return of The Voice" for that era.

C'mon MC, like every lamb, I'm dying for the new album. But this is supposed to be a new era, and the new single cover art speaks volumes in that it's too photoshopped, and that you're trying too hard to look sexy when you already are. Please stop being eternally 12!

What's Tommy got to do (got to do) with it? (39,622)

Ugh! I hate how some of you all give this guy all the credit, just because he made MC wear potatoe sacks for 7 years. Isn't this beloved hero the same guy that told MC her left side was ugly anyway, or to pass as a "white girl that sings black", held her hostage and force her to sing none stop, better yet stole her song and gave it to "J.Lo" to sabotage her career? Need I to say more? I'm sure he has everything to do with all her insecurities you speak of, so why not give him credit for that instead. I don't get the big fuss whatsoever, you all must be bored.

Great new single? (39,618)
by Matthew from USA
| |
|
|
We all know social media can be cruel. Celebrities are especially aware of this. Many celebs avoid social media. It can literally make or break a new project. So the fact that Mariah is inviting social media to the debut of the new single is promising. It means she's pretty confident it's a hit. Most artists nowadays "leak" their songs. If the buzz is good, they make it a single. If the buzz is bad, the artist will make a speech about how an unfinished song was unfairly leaked. But MC is actually telling all of social media to come and take a listen (you like this, and you know it). So I think the lambs should be pretty excited right now. MC and JD know a stone smash groove hit wonder when they hear it. Lol.

Cover art (39,617)
by Licia from USA

Mariah has been doing the photoshop thing forever. It's not new. I don't always like it, but I don't choose her music because of how her covers looks. If the music is good the cover art shouldn't matter. Nikki, she has been doing the right side thing since the beginning of her career. Go look at her 1990s single and album covers. Tommy and his crew started that mess. This just didn't start in the last 10 years.
