Cover art (39,617) by Licia from USA Mariah has been doing the photoshop thing forever. It's not new. I don't always like it, but I don't choose her music because of how her covers looks. If the music is good the cover art shouldn't matter. Nikki, she has been doing the right side thing since the beginning of her career. Go look at her 1990s single and album covers. In the "Tommy years" those shots were decent and looked good. I think Tommy forbid that photoshop guy to stop working for her because it's been a mess since then lol. Another thing I'm tired of is that Mariah is so insecure. Stop with the left side videos/pics. [...] Please. Show a good example for Ms. Monroe. I'm tired of her always doing these/trying to do these sexy half naked poses. It's coming off as desperate/insecure now. You're a legend, you don't need to keep doing these things. Whether it was a drawing, painting, photoshopped or whatever, it's still a nice image. Photoshop (39,612) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom Did people seriously expect Mariah to have a cover that wasn't photoshopped? She's been doing it since 1902. Yes, it may be tiring, and yes it probably doesn't represent a realistic depiction of beauty, but Mariah is not the only one who does this. There's not a single photo from a photoshoot by anyone famous that isn't photoshopped, irrespective of whether the person is male or female. It's the standard these days. Perhaps people should cut Mariah just a little bit of slack, and just let her be. I'm not saying it's a good or bad thing, but it's Mariah's prerogative to choose what way she wants to look, not ours. Don't get me wrong, I've criticised Mariah in the past for clothing and image choices, but at this stage we really shouldn't expect her to dress or take pictures like Audrey Hepburn. We as a public are already saturated with actual photos and videos of MC and all celebrities, so who wants a cover that looks like an Instagram snap. The cover art is art. Period. What she looks like body wise in the photo is not really relevant because we have no idea when this photo for this cover art was actually done. We as fans know MC has always said she likes the water, i.e. the bathing suits since Honey. Yes, at times it gets played, i.e. Hate U. But I'm actually enjoying the approach MC and JD are taking releasing this record. They are giving off good vibes. And this actually becoming an event in itself as if this was an album release and not a single, is awesome. (Wednesday 30 October 2013; 19:53)

I just wish that MC should have worn a thin long white dress that will show her silhouette and start staying away from bathing suits and that would make this cover more beautiful in my opinion. She could've at least been sailing away in a canoe, looking at the moon or even closed her eyes! But yeah, I see the Underneath The Stars and My All references: you can see stars on the left if you look at a larger photo, and in the music video for My All she has a "kneeling in the water" moment, except she's in a dress. I hope everyone is well and as excited as I am for the new single. The video/snippet sounded promising. She looks cute in the cover art, but I kinda already know what her videos and single/album cover art is gonna look like from here on out. It's not what I'd prefer, but whatever blows her skirt up. I'm here for the music, which hopefully will be smashing. I just wanted to say howdy and throw my rusted two cents in. All the best to everyone. Cover (39,597) by RadChad from United States Ok I'll bite. Honestly the cover is a very tastefully done (though it's a bathing suit, yet again). My only gripe would be that it looks photoshopped for life, nevertheless still beautiful artsy and refreshing actually. I remember when MC first started the sex kitten image in '97, I was bothered because I thought it would take attention away from her talent, and people would misjudge her as a slutty bimbo. At this point it hardly matters to me anymore, though there's still those moments I'm like "no MC no". This cover is far from being one of them. (Wednesday 30 October 2013; 2:34)

I do like the background, (yes, I get the references) and of course I think M is beautiful, but I'm hoping for a thought provoking, deep, spiritual song and for me the bathing suit shot doesn't speak to spirituality/the art of letting go. I mean with her going on about how serious it is and stuff. She said herself "the album is going to be a brand new representation of me as an artist".
