Why are weapons formed against us prospering? (79,727)
by Marissa from USA

"Messages that are insulting (to Mariah, other artists or members of this messageboard) will not be posted." Has this rule ever been enforced regarding the problematic person who shall not be named? He should have been banned years ago. I've seen people confronted more harshly about grammar mistakes than his racist remarks. Just because he isn't calling people the n-word (or maybe that was censored) does not mean that he isn't racist. Racists usually use insidious and covert methods to show their views, but dodge accountability by pulling the "I didn't tell you to go back to Africa so I can't possibly be racist" card. There are many ways to show that you can't stand a group of people without actually saying it and he's shown them all. Ultimately, this isn't even about his opinion. If the rule was being enforced, I wouldn't even be burdened with knowing what his opinion is. That's the point. The fact that you have the power to end all of this and haven't makes me wonder if you agree with him and that's what's hurtful. I can visit this board and someone can be blatantly cruel to my, Mariah, Mariah's children and fans' race and get away with it with no or little protection from the person who can stop it all. Granted, I don't know how many messages he's written that haven't been posted (if any), but I know the ones that have seen the light of day are terrible. The basics that we all deserve is to have our (and Mariah's) identities off limits (race, religion, etc) from being insulted. This board doesn't have to be inhumane to be interesting. His cruelty campaign is actually one of the most predictable and boring things here. If you have no plans of banning him or blocking his messages, can you at least share why you keep him around after hundreds of complaints for years? It's like Mariah keeping Stella around at this point.

The video was cute. I'm still not feeling the song, but I'm sure kids will get a kick out of it.

It's a cute video, fun, short and sweet. Although it's a cute song, since its release I've never really been able to get into the song, mainly because of the vocals. Imo it's pretty much the worst vocal performance in studio that Mariah has ever released. Her voice was just so tense and tight and sounds slightly nasal all throughout. It was obvious that she wasn't in a good condition vocally when she recorded it. Luckily now her voice is in a much better place.

Will the real MC please stand up (79,723)
by enwar00 from usa

It seems drastically sudden how Mariah went back to her old self, and as others have described, seems happy, relaxed, healthier, more coherent, friendlier, looking better and in better voice. As if the spell really has been broken. It's nice to witness and feel more positivity once again, on this board and outside of it. And all this as we approach the holiday season. AIWFCIY may truly hit the top 10. I guess this makes up for the Christmas show I was going to being cancelled.

I actually do love her more than I did before, but that wasn't hard considering I don't know much about her. I watched that 10 minute link someone else had posted and thought wow Patti has a cool personality. A few things were confirmed in that clip. Very awesome that she is a genuine friend slash godmother to MC.

Not really. As much as some things people say are annoying or ridiculous, it doesn't really make me happy and joyful when someone is being dissed or attacked. Just seems sad all around.

On the subject of wigs / Mariah's hair (79,718)
by Anonymous from UK
| |
|
|
Off the top of my head, she's worn extensions here and there since the Honey video? But went full force with them during the CB era - her hair didn't grow two foot in a year - and we've rarely seen her natural hair length - and definitely not colour or texture - since then. Mariah and unnatural hair go together at this point so it shouldn't be a surprise. She started wearing wigs when Vegas began but regularly since SSFT and although I'd rather see her real hair, at this point I'm just grateful they're not a mess and behind her hairline like they were at one point last year. I had to Instagram Stella and tell her to sort it out.

Undeniable receipts (79,717)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
Here's a passage from an interview Mariah did with The Guardian in 2009: "'I'm a black woman who is very light skinned.' As a child, she was self-conscious of her mixed race, and it is still enough of an issue, in the US and elsewhere, that Carey is routinely accused of 'trying too hard' in one racial direction or another."

I agree, she was so gracious and supportive. Part of me feels really glad that Mariah had someone like Patti there for her during that period of her life. It's nice that she wasn't completely alone and that she had someone out there looking out for her, even if from a distance.

Licia, it seems to be Ms. Patti is a real friend to Mariah. That "no nonsense you better get your act together 'cause you're out of control" friend. And yes, Mariah is looking and acting different in a good way, and I could experience that at the Beacon Theater. She cleaned house and it was evident how relaxed and happy she and her new crew were. When Mariah is doing well, it's fair acknowledge. As for those who like to put Mariah in a box, she's not an effing object. There's only one Mariah, and last time I checked she was still a multiracial human being, she's beautiful as she is. All those things some like to hate make her who she is and the person we fell in love with. The sad thing is that those who always want Mariah to be this or that color are the ones to whom she wasn't too much of that specific color to be considered part of their group. She can't win for losing.

Bashing Mariah (79,710)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

The continued disrespect against Mariah for wanting to identify with her black roots by Andrew is very unhealthy, disrespectful, and vile. This message board is a place for fans and admirers alike come to express their opinions on different topics regarding whether we agree or disagree. For as long as forever when you come across a post from Andrew everything comes off angry, distasteful, mean and many times racist. Whether or not you censored many of his posts webmaster his messages tend to always come across as vile hurtful toward MC than someone giving constructive criticism or expressing his dismay about something regarding MC. I as well as many other people who post here appreciate the platform you have given us but we do not stand for anyone who posts hateful, racist, vile messages towards MC or other members of our Archives family.

I visit other artists fan boards. His behavior on here would not be allowed on other forums. Hateful, nasty, and racist, towards members and the artist that the board is dedicated to. I don't understand why it's allowed all of the time, it's never ending.

There's nothing funny about your "joke", because it wasn't one. It's a mocking remark about someone else's race, psychology and identity, which isn't helpful, to say the least. And for the record, she will wear wigs for a variety of very obvious reasons including the savings in time, effort, money and health of her already very damaged hair.

Girl, I agree with you, there is a specific person from London that is the most hateful person and the "board" allows his/her comments but edits others. I come on to see post and usually leave right after. The mean spirits of some of these comments are plain evil. [Webmaster: I think I censor Andrew's posts more than others.]

Just shut up. You have so many issues with Mariah and it's sad that you're so affected like that. Mariah is doing fine lately and you still want to pinpoint everything you think is wrong. I hope you can find peace someday and realize that you are no longer happy and contented with everything Mariah does. Just move on from her. Toxic.
