Shania's Come on Over turns 20 (79,242) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines The bestselling country album and bestselling album by a female artist, Come on Over, is 20 years old this week. That album is just major. It was truly all killer, no filler - literally every song could have been released as a single, and the many ones that did are really, really memorable. Not even any of Taylor's country albums could compete with how Shania expertly married pop and country on that album. Although far-fetched, I still hope she and Mariah could collaborate in any way. From the sound of her voice on her latest album, it seems like her singing range has also become more limited than what she had in the 90s, just like Mariah. I've seen videos of her praising Mariah so she's clearly a fan. A duet would surely be a treat. (Monday 6 November 2017; 12:14)

Mariah has said a million times "if your father's black, you're black" so what does that make her? Since Mariah's aesthetic doesn't match up with what people typically envision a black/biracial person to be, she still has people attach themselves to her who would prefer to pretend that she's white/too pure for black culture because she's fair skinned. Her fanbase is full of people who compartmentalize her as a white woman and are biased against 50% of who she is. One thing that I've always respected about Mariah is that she owned that she was part black from the beginning no matter what and didn't try to "pass" as white just because she could have gotten away with it. Mariah has said herself that she is an R&B singer. Who invented R&B? Black people. The runs and riffs that everyone loved even in the beginning of her career are inspired by black singers like Aretha Franklin. It doesn't make sense to try come for the very culture that most of Mariah's sound, style and musical influences came from or acting like she isn't a part of that culture. I debated whether or not I even wanted to address this but if I don't defend my culture no one else will and comments like these will continue to be normalized and ignored. I'm no one though. I haven't heard anything from Mariah ever since. I don't know which one she was on the internet. I chatted and interacted with many so. This was over 10 years ago now. I know I'm on island out here but I thought the Stella bashing was a bit much. Nick Cannon and plenty others agree that Mariah manages Mariah. Just because Stella is gone now, doesn't mean Mariah is all of sudden going to get her grown woman on and start making the right decisons regarding her music career. I wouldn't hold my breath. In order for Mariah to have success again, she is going to have to be hungry for it and really want it. She appears unbothered, lazy, and straight clueless when it comes to how bad her public image is. I mean switch it up girl. He doesn't have any real skills though. I'm not even impressed with his wack dance steps. And if he has any say, he will be trying to block Anthony and any other dancers or collaborators. DVDs (79,226) by Billy from Greece I would like to express how utterly frustrated, if not infuriated, I am about the fact that after years and years of no music related dvd releases (and very few Mariah dvds in general), we now have the "joke" (to put it mildly) that is "Mariah's World" immortalized for future generations on dvd. I mean, why? I ask you, why? That thing should be buried and never see the light of day again. It is the only Mariah related project that I find indefensible. Sure, Mariah is the boss, Mariah greenlighted that, but I really put the blame on that woman (and her equally, if not more, invidious daughters) who thank God is no longer 24/7 around MC. The scenes including Mariah doing music, or her actual job, are beautiful and she looks gorgeous throughout. But what's the point of releasing a dvd of this "thing"? Anyways, I put it to rest. That can only inspire her. I believe her old team wasn't bringing anything new to the table, treating her like she was "a done deal". That can be very uninspiring. Your last remark wasn't necessary though. We all we be judged for the choices we are making today, if not by fans and the media, by our own kids. Mariah is doing the best she can whith what she's got. Still to this day. And she's still there. We are the lucky ones. Never forget that. (Sunday 5 November 2017; 20:02)

Brett introduced Stella to Mariah, she probably trusted his judgement and she also maybe felt a connection with Stella because she was also a single mother, having the kids around the 24 hours. I don't wish Stella bad, as much as I made fun of her name, but there were a fair amount of things that I found unprofessional about her management. The way she expressed to the press, she should have collab with a publicity team rather than try to manage that aspect, I recall Mariah had a new whole team when Stella entered the picture but somehow they seemed to have dissapeared and Stella took over including her daughter in the ordeal. I don't know why she dragged a tweenie now teen into a world filled with very dangerous things, people can say a lot of nasty and horrible things in the internet, including adults bashing and bullying kids. I don't know what Stella was thinking, I didn't mind most of the pictures and it was better than seeing nothing on Mariah's IG, but the pictures were badly retouched and filtered, they were out of focus, badly timed, a lot of things that shouldn't go with the Mariah Carey brand and image, it looked unpolished and amateurish. I like candid pics but with a message, not the blurry mess we got at times. Obviously this looks like it will quietly die in the news, if there were to be anything bitter it would have come out already. I think it's going to be a great end of year, clean slate for next year.
