Re: MC and Carlos Santana (76,475) (76,504)

RJJ12, Yes, I did see the Spanish version of that commercial. I always wondered why they never worked together in the studio. My only problem with her singing in Spanish is her pronunciation. I remember being so disappointed with "MI Todo (My All)" because some of the lyrics sounded so off and didn't make sense. Then afterwards I found out that the person who wrote the interpretation, didn't teach her the correct way to pronounce the words. I'd love to hear a new song with Carlos but her singing in English and maybe some Spanish ad-libs. I love Toni's The Heat album, especially "Stupid". I believe that song was featured in the movie Diary of a Mad Black Woman. The Heat, to me, was very underrated. "Maybe" was and still is my favorite on that album. A lot of great and sad memories. Have you ever heard "Not a Chance"? That one was leaked as a leftover song from her album Pulse, another great album. Such an amazing song, lyrically and vocally.

Re: Being controlled by a sociopath? (76,496) (76,503)

Honestly you might not be far from the truth. Mariah is a very emotional and fragile human being which makes her the perfect victim for leeches and sociopaths to crave on her energy, her connections and her wealth. Personally I do not think she is a narcissist herself be what is called a "codependent" personality. A psychological term that reffers to people who get easily attracted by narcissists and sociopaths. Codependents are often creative and emotional people but suffer from low self-esteem and often feel unworthy in comparison to others. Early on in her career Mariah stated that as a child "being famous" would validate her existence. Add the very tumultuous childhood as a biracial child in the '70s combined with her insecurities as a young woman and the bigger picture falls into place. Her biggest challenge is to stand up to these vampiric creatures but unfortunately she is blinded by their typical demeanour of pretending to be confidants and protectors. Sociopaths do not care for anybody but themselves and will isolate their victims from their natural surroundings and friends or family. (Bye bye to the old team and let's move to LA? Anybody.) They will further nurture the insecurities of the victim so eventually that person will give over and become completely depended on the sociopath. The end result is horrifying as the victim will be squeezed from all purity and energy until completely drained and left behind. Mariah is at a very dangerous stage in her life from which a return is almost impossible because she will not allow anything bad being said about Stella. This further distances her from anybody who wants to save her. For anybody questioning my rather extensive reply. Trust me. I am not making anything up. I have unfortunately been in a relationship with a sociopath and decided to leave on time. But the damage takes a long time to heal. I really hope Mariah can escape from this. Tommy might have been too controlling but Stella is utterly demonic.

Personally, I think not. Stella's an uncouth idiot that thinks being rude will get her what she wants (like that guy she cursed out over at DCP because they wouldn't pull the footage from the west coast) and she also goes a long with the stupid crap that Mariah wants done and throws out some dumb ideas her own self, I'm sure but that's about it. She doesn't strike me as the Rasputin type nor does she strike me as smart enough or charismatic enough to pull something like that off. In my eyes she's just another dumbass and right now that's what Mariah wants to be surrounded with. They really just remind me of two children who've been left to steer a car.

What I was trying to say is that in early April 2008 when she started promoting E=MC2 he was still in the picture. At the end of the month she was married to Nick.

Hi Sheila. She's never done that before because she's been told that she should never carry a bag. Didn't look good on her according to "them". You know who "them" are. Regarding her Vegas shows I think that when you are used to a place, you know how to work the stage, you know how the place sounds in terms of echo, feedback, etc. Vegas is indoors and the sound never changes. As a singer it is very important to be able to hear yourself and with time you know how and when your voice sounds the best. It's kind of like a sound choreography. Hope I'm making sense here. Peace out.

Confidence contributes a lot in performances. In Vegas she was surrounded with an almost-exclusively lamb audience. In televised settings, or in settings like Glock, Jamaica Jazz, etc, the audience is quite different, hence her nerves will be kicked up a notch. That's actually a sign that she's not confident in her voice and her technique in general, which is why it's a good idea for her to take some time off and intensively train her voice with a really really good vocal instructor, so that her vocal health can rebound and that her technique will be back at a point where she can count on her voice reliably.

Being controlled by a sociopath? (76,496)

Dear lambs. I was reading about MC Guru's death (I know, it's been a while) and ended up finding a lot of articles saying Guru was being heavily manipulated during his final years by his manager Solar. The guy was controlling his emails and even wrote a "letter from the grave" on Guru's behalf. If that was not enough, Solar didn’t let Guru's family visit him when he was in a coma. I don't want to create theories or anything, but do you think it's possible that Mariah – in a fragile moment like Guru was in his final years as a recovering alcoholic – is being manipulated by Stella on the same level? These thoughts give me goosebumps.

I'm not totally sure what happens when she leaves Vegas or if it's her sound people and her team but she sounds harsh in these "spot" dates. Why does she sound so beautiful on that Vegas stage but a hot mess other times. If the public at large saw what we saw in Vegas the public would embrace her again. Sidebar: Why is she carrying her purse like Stella? She's never done that before. It's so strange.

The brand isn't unfamiliar to me and I say that this is not the move Mariah should make. I knew the name sounded familiar to me and sure enough after I googled I had a "mhmm" moment. It's been years ago now that I saw this brand being pedaled at two kiosks in my local mall, being serviced by like four Israeli men and one woman. They are very dominant and very aggressive. I also checked out some of the comments on the company and had another "mhmm" moment when I read a comment by a woman that said exactly what I experienced about the people and products, starting with the fact that the products are not marked with prices but one of the persons running it would bring up the prices on a computer screen, and all the prices are sky high. When I tell you, your jaws will drop, they will not hit the floor but go through to the basement level. Then when you and everyone else walking the mall can't afford the prices, they'll start dropping them like bricks because they "like you so much" lol. The company is a damn rip off. Not only is nothing in these products worth the price but there is no luxury skincare company worth its salt, pedaling expensive skin care products in kiosks. They are also not dropping the prices on sight just because they like you so much. That only happens for special sales around holidays and when they're trying to get rid of stock. A lot of their stuff also sells, on Amazon, for half of what they retail it for in person and on their website. I also found this article. I don't know if these people got kicked out of my mall or just left but I wouldn't be surprised if they got kicked out. That was the last time I saw them in that mall or any other and my state is small so they couldn't have gone too far if they were still here. Mariah needs to stay out of these sketchy countries and away from the companies and people associated with them.

In the first twenty years of Mariah's career (76,492)
by T from USA
| |
|

An amazing statistic, in the first twenty years of her career she had a song appear on the Hot 100 every year except 2007. My question is how did the song she did with Bone Thugs and Bow Wow not at least debut on the Hot 100? (Even Oh Santa debut at #100 in 2010). In 2007 Bone Thugs single "I Tried" reached #6 on the Hot 100 and the followup single "Lil Love" feat Mariah didn't even crack the chart. Even though she was fresh off the amazing TEOM era where she was red hot and about to release her 18th #1 in Touch My Body. What happened to "Lil Love"? It had a video and got the single treatement. Was it regarded that bad of a song that Mariah (who just had a #1 hit in DFAU, and Bone Thugs who just reached #6 with "I tired) couldnt't even crack the chart together?

Thanks for sharing. This is why it's so frustrating when performances like the recent ones pop up. We know she can do it. There are many performances from Vegas alone that proves it. Whether it be discipline or confidence, I just want her to get it back stat because when she's on top it she's great. It's frustrating to see her put herself in these positions to continuously give people a reason to doubt her when all she has to do is put in the extra work in every situation.

It is so hard to see this happening to someone like Mariah. What the hell happened? No, she doesn't need to be skinny, but she needs to take care of herself. It seems to me, her voice isn't as good when she's heavier. She's beautiful no matter what, but lately her outfits have been pretty bad. I still think Stella is partly to blame. Mariah needs to wake up and get real people behind her. Someone that can say no some times. That's what happened in 2005, LA Reid told her to go back and make better music and her and JD came back with "We Belong Together" and the rest is history. It is sad to see this living legend demolishing everything she worked her ass off for. I have been finding it harder and harder to take up for her anymore. Come back MC. We all miss you.

It had nothing to do with lack of commitment. They had a poor relationship and would argue a lot. Mariah was not happy. Hence why they broke up and she moved on.

This was a little over a year ago where she looked and sounded like the legend that she is. She can still sing as long as she disciplines herself. Imagine this as a televised performance on a awards show. Why has this not happened and why didn't it happen back then when she was in good voice is so frustrating.

May be old news, but I never read anything on why. I had given up message boards around that era and would only check in from time to time. Did the lambs speculate why he was a secret? I mean I know he's who she left when she married Nick.

Not many people that have suffered from domestic violence ever come forward and for the most part try to hide it from the whole world. She thanked him when she left because, technically, he was an important factor to her success. Plus, she still was signed with him. Can't rock the boat too much when the waters aren't calm. That's a big thing to come forward with, especially if its not documented. Why even say something now, he's remarried with kids. That would do a lot more harm than good at this point. Did I miss something? Why is this a topic?

The Hilton. You are spot on. AI was the turning point and the accident put the nail in the coffin to that era going downhill. It's sad because, for me, it was her best album since Daydream (my personal favorite, her magnum opus). I told a friend of mine that she had the same injury he did and he was like, do you know what type of meds you have to be on to deal with the pain and the side effects (weight gain, bloating, potential addiction), no wonder she disappeared and re-emerged for that Chanteuse tour like someone I had never seen before. She was carrying all her pain on the outside, and I was and still am worried about her. Yet the critiques about her weight and voice ended up being the focus. For someone as vain as Mariah to show up looking and sounding the way she did on that tour, you know she has got to be going through a lot. The best thing for any of us to do is pray for her.

I don't see this as a bad move even if the brand is unfamiliar to us, as long as its a brand of quality and is successful. I do agree that the smartest thing to do is align yourself with successful, high quality brands and collaborate on your own line instead of trying to come out with your own beauty product in an already over saturated market.
