NYE performance (80,182) by Bill from the UK So I've seen it now. Not sure what VOL was all about. Was the pause before the final verse a technical problem, a new arrangement, or a dodged ad lib? Either way, it didn't sound great. I was glad she didn't drag out the "that you turned out to" line and instead sang it at the studio pace. If she's changing up her arrangements, good on her. Her voice sounded very strained though throughout. Hero was a lot better, but played safely. After my previous comment, I've had to watch the climax a few times as I can't tell if it was live, a new pre-record, or heavily supported by the backing singers. It did sound great though. There will be the usual "it was cold/she has nodules/she's still sick/she had no honey tea" excuses as usual, but the main takeaway from me was how proud I was of her. She looked very nervous at times, but what a fighter to climb back on the same horse that threw her to the ground last year. She was clearly 95% live at least which, despite the flaws, still sounded great in parts (the "be" ending of VOL, Hero's bridge), she looked great, and she can leave 2017 with her head held high. On a side note, Mariah did pretty good. Vocals could've been smoother and more fluid, but considering the frigid weather, I think she did a pretty damn good job. She's a champ. The performance weighin (80,176) by Tevin from USA So I will give it a 7 out of 10. She did good, redeemed herself from last year. She song 99% live if not 100. See was a bit hoarse. But given that it was -7°F and she is singing live in front of millions of people I think I will bump her up to a 8 out of 10. I will say she did look like she enjoyed herself out there. Ryan kept saying how hard it is to sing in the weather conditions. I also am happy that this is the first time in a while where it seemed like she sang Hero completely live including the climax. Overall I was happy with this performance. Next year she needs to sing some up tempo songs in LA where it's warm and I doors. My rants over. I'm going to sleep now. Night everyone. Mariah Carey paid £3.5M to sing in the New Year (80,159) by B from USA Mariah isn't going to lypsync tonight, she knows how high the stakes are. If she wants to make a comeback which seems like a possibility after AIWFCIY finally reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. She'll sing in a range she's comfortable and she'll hit a few whistles and sustained a note in or two. Best believe she'll be well rehearsed and prepared for this performance. Nash has obviously been rehired if she's receiving such a hefty payday and I'd bet with a clause in her contract that if any technical issues arise DCP pays a huge sum. He did get her her huge Virigin deal and buyout. I have no doubt she'll slay this performance with confidence. I think she knows Stella and company were to blame for last years snafu.
