Re: American Idol producers attack Mariah (74,125) (74,131) by Malcolm from Asia
Part of me thinks that the whole mess was AI's fault because they allegedly deceived Mariah as the only female judge (they did it to JLo so why not?), but was it the responsibility of Mariah's team to assure things before she signs any contract? And if they really told Mariah (legally) that she's the only female judge and had Nicki as a last minute addition, does Mariah had the right to sue them or anything? But, part of me also thinks that if Mariah just dealt with it and can get along with anyone without drama, given the fact that she and Nicki had already collaborated in the past and for sure had "moments" together, it shouldn't have been a problem at all and that season could've been one of the great and funniest season AI had.

I didn't see the original post, but from what I gather it was casual homophobia directed at me because I'm not a deluded fan who turns a blind eye when Mariah is in the wrong. Go through my posts, I'm always positive about Mariah, but I also don't think it's right to criticise Nigel after everything Mariah has said about Idol since her time on the show. If it helps, she looked the best she has in years during that era. Positive enough for you? Oh Eric, I've just seen the posts lower down, feel free to not publish my previous post, I think I got my wires crossed.

Idol producers (74,128) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
To be fair Mariah has made her unflattering comments about her days at Idols. But I really believe that the Idols producers have a motive here because just last week it was announced that they are planning to reboot the AI series and I really think that this is to drum up some sort of interest. Let face it I believe that the producers of Idol deceived Mariah to get her to become apart of the judging panel by telling her she would be apart of thre person panel and then went to Nicki to attract the younger audience and it backfired. So in all both parties are wrong. But I definitely feel all parties need to stop talking about season 12 of AI as it is done and over with.

I'm with you Hanna. Your earlier post made sense and I'm glad to see I'm not alone. Those who are positive on this board might not be as vocal as the naysayers because we basically have a life, a life MC has greatly influenced because she has taught us to be openminded and nonjudgmental.

I heard about the reboot, but I just don't understand how bringing this up help. It's been years. Everybody involved from Mariah to the cleaning crew needs to stop talking about it and let it go. Lol.

I was going to say the same thing. It's clear where Mariah got her sense of discipline from and it's easy to picture Pat leading the sing-along gatherings at home that Mariah has spoken of in the past. Maybe Mariah is much more "relaxed" now (to say the least) but she had a much more serious approach to her music in the early 90s.

But that wasn't an insult to other fans of Mariah. I really glad you replayed [sic]. I'm also printscreening before posting and will do with this to. And that I'm happy to have done. Have a great day/night.

If you insult other fans by calling them [censored], I will censor it. If someone uses a word that doesn't exist, I will write [...]. If someone writes a word wrong, I put [sic] behind it. If a message is complete nonsense or doesn't follow my rules, I will delete it. I don't look at the writer when I censor or delete a message. If you don't like my rules, too bad.

This is a message mainly for you who run this site. Why did you censore the word [censored]? Since when has it been a cursing word? Why did you change the last sentence to [sic] in the middle? Just wondering. Many lambs that I've been in contact with tells me their messages been deleted or censored. And it has been both "Bryan and Mariah fans" and those who don't like Bryan. Curious if you have a legit reason or if the content doesn't fit you?

They're probably making these statements now because they are trying to reboot AI according to the rumors. They should just let it be. Just let it die, with no goodbyes, details don't matter.

Re: American Idol producers attack Mariah (74,112) (74,117) by Martyn from England, UK
You can't criticise Nigel when Mariah has done nothing but slag the show off since she left. It's quite clear from comments Mariah has made since that her nose was put out of joint by not being the only female on the panel (ridiculous) and although Nicki was her usual, abhorrent self, I think we all know that Mariah was the source of the initial beef. Mariah has claimed that working on Idol was the "worst experience of her life". Well it sounds like she's had a pretty good life to me.

Re: American Idol producers attack Mariah (74,112) (74,116) by Musti from UK
Honestly, I don't believe that Nicki lost it for no reason. We all know M likes to demand things and to be given priority over everyone else. Maybe she never asked for a dozen white kitties, but it was said not long ago in an article that "everyone in the industry has their Mariah story". You don't get that kind of reputation for being an easy person. I'm not saying what Nicki did was right. Clearly she ended up making a fool of herself. But Mariah does ask for it sometimes.

Re: American Idol producers attack Mariah (74,112) (74,115) by Licia from USA
I can see Mariah being an issue. We all know she wasn't happy with another female being added. She expressed this many times. She's not the innocent victim and neither was Nicki. However, at this point it doesn't matter. Don't know why the AI producers are bringing this up now. They had plenty of time to bring this up after the season with Nicki and Mariah ended. If she really was the issue, why not say that then? Nigel is acting like a disgruntled ex boyfriend who wants to release tapes after being broken up for years. Now I'm just going to wait on the curse filled statement from the wicked stepmother. I might just cheer her on this time. Lol.

Re: Patricia Carey's "To Start Again" on YouTube (74,111) (74,114) by Edouard from France
It's interesting how, even though Pat and Mariah's voices are different, you can here they share their great sense of musicality. It's very apparent on the accoustic songs where Patricia mixes her operatic voice with more pop/country/traditionnal vocals. The fact that Mariah tends to create melodies meant to be sung in the highest keys is a direct influence from her mother's, I believe. Love it. It's also interesting to play Patricia's acccustic songs and Mariah's "Right to dream"/"Help me make it through the night"/"Vanishing"/"One Child"/"Oh Little Town of Bethlehem" back to back.

American Idol producers attack Mariah (74,112) by Sheila from United States
Nigel Lythgoe, who many will remember for producing Idol, candidly chimed in adding: "Nicki was not the problem. There are tapes buried in chainsaw." Nigel is a petty queen who 3 years after comes out complaining of this crap. American Idol sucked.

Wow, thanks for posting that. This is actually a pretty good album. Her voice really shines on the 3rd and 4th track. I really like her Habanera as well. It's impressive how she sings an opera standard then goes into an acoustic/pop sound on the next song. And she follows it up with a haunting Both Sides Now. Her voice doesn't have as many layers as Mariah's of course, but she sounds like a true artist.

Good press (74,109) by Will from England
I'm glad that she is getting good press for her OMT performance. Personally I think that it was 99% sung live. The only teeny tiny thing that I would have changed is to have not put "heartfelt performance" in the description. That's for others to write, not for the performer (or teen for that matter) to self-praise a performance.

Update on The Dream (74,108) by RibbonB from USA
Wow, just happened to google his name, wondering what he has been up to since working on Memoirs. Well he sure has been up to a lot. He has done a bit in music of course, but most surprising is he is now a father of seven children, by four moms no less, three of them wives at least. I guess it's good that he married most of them, even though he divorces at the drop of a baby it seems. His last two sons are named Heir and Lord. Sunday sharing. He did co-write Ribbon, so that is something.

Daley and Mariah (74,107) by T from USA
You want to hear current great R&B music with the most amazing lyrics and arrangement? You want to hear a direction that Mariah could definitely go and have all success in? An artist named Daley (who has defended MC on multiple occasions) is doing just that. Check out "Love & Affection", "Time Travel", "Be", "Until The Pain Is Gone". And picture Mariah singing lyrics like these. It will instantly transport you back to Daydream Mariah and the artist we all knew and loved. Let me know what you think.
