Madonna Rihanna (67,343) by Mirage_Nunez from America
I'm not trying to be shady (because I have love for both), but I honestly don't understand how someone can question why people like Rihanna and yet praise Madonna in the same breath. Both are aquired taste vocally or artistry wise. I would argue that Rihanna has stronger vocals while Madonna is the better performer (dancing wise). Both are provocative and have pushed the envelope with sexuality, both are influential trend setters of their respective times (though Rihanna is more of a fashionista), both have a great catalogue with monster hits behind them etc. Rihanna is basically the Bajan Madonna of today. Ofcourse with Madonna being the pioneer that has birthed the likes of Rihanna, Gaga, Britney etc. but in terms of talent they're in the same arena in my honest opinion. If Madonna is great then so is Rihanna.

Re: Madonna is Billboard's 2016 Woman of the Year (67,340) (67,342) by Malcolm from Asia
I don't think it is based on gross from touring. "Billboard's Woman of the Year has always represented the finest in music, and the anointing of a key influential figure who drove the conversation for that year." Yes I also questioned why Madonna is this year's "Woman of the Year", it's not like she doesn't deserve it but it will makes sense if she was honored on 2015. Adele or Beyonce should have been the honoree for this year.

Love it, the whole album is sublime.

I believe this is based on gross from touring. She charges about £8,573 per ticket, so that's probably how she's done it.

Re: Where is our queen? (67,336) (67,339) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
None but it's probably for the best because Christmas is Mariah's season and in just a few weeks she will be all over the place and this time in addition to her usual Christmas festivities she has a brand new reality show and her MAC collaboration to promote so I would like to believe she is laying low at the moment to avoid looking overexposed when Christmas season starts. Also she will resurface eventually because her tour is starting up soon.

Re: Madonna is Billboard's 2016 Woman of the Year (67,284) (67,338) by Andrew from UK
I like Madonna, I think most of the world does. But I don't understand what she did this year to warrant being "woman of the year". What were the criteria? How was this judged? All I remember of her in 2016 was her crying on stage because her kid ran back to London to get away from her. Something smells fishy. And I'm not talking about the contents of GG's underpants. I doubt Mariah would ever go to anything Madonna was attending. I'm not sure she would surrender top billing to her and if she did there'd be a fight. I reckon Mariah could take Madonna.

Mate, cheer the [censored] up. If you're wallowing in the mire of self-pity listening to depressing MC tunes, nobody's going to be drawn to you and you'll be doing the same [censored] next birthday. How about this? Turn off the ballads, stick on some uptempo songs, Dreamlover, Now That I Know, ABMB, It's Like That, etc., sing and dance yourself into a good mood and plan some positive changes in your life. You're not a victim. Make it happen, buddy.

For all those waiting for details about the Christmas concerts, they are sending out info now. I just got an email from Mariah's fans items with the info on pre-sale and the concert dates.

First off, advanced happy birthday. It's always a good idea to reward yourself by listening to music that you love any day, let alone your birthday. While I do understand the advantages of being signed to a major record label, that's granting that the label completely believes in you and backs you, your vision, and your project up 100%. Otherwise, it's pointless. Given Mariah's recent commercial disappointments when it comes to her releases, I don't think any record label, not even the one she's with now, is gonna be all-out in promoting any new material from her. So if she's really just doing this for the music, then I'd say ditch the label and release the music independently. Should it fall on deaf ears, at least it's not because of some fancy company's false promises. I agree with you. Just release the damn music.

Hye Robert-Anthony. Happy birthday in advance. I just want to share, October 25 is my brother's birthday and on his 12th birthday, my father passed away. I know it is always hard for him to celebrate but I know one thing that he is always listen to One Sweet Day on his birthday. He is not a lamb. He likes Oasis, Paramore and Linkin Park. It makes me think even a hardcore rocker has a soft spot for Mariah. It shows our queen's music has touched everyone's hearts. To you Robert-Anthony, happy birthday in advance. God bless you.

I feel the same way. I love it and the title track, so soulful. That's the centerpiece of the album right there. I just wish she could have included Thinkin Out Loud (I know I posted this before but it's just so lovely in its simplicity) from her previous EP #LoveJo2. It would have fit right in with the album's atmospherics.

Just had to play some Mariah tonight (67,330) by Bobby A from United States
I have been feeling down lately because I have a birthday coming up 10.25 and I am going to spend it alone again. I had to listen to Petals, Languishing, I Wish You Well, H.A.T.E.U., Inseparable, Heavenly, #Beautiful, Reflections and Cry. I don't know any other artist whose catalogue is so full of songs with depth and reflection. I guess one reason why I connected to Mariah is that I had a rough childhood full of rejection, abuse and being misunderstood. I have always wished to be loved and Mariah's emotional ballads always gave me hope for finding love. Thank you Mariah. I have always been a lamb. Since 1990. Lamb for life. What will she give us in 2017? I don't think I have hungered for a Mariah Carey album like her next one. I believe this album is going put her back at number #1. Wouldn't it be something if she just dropped a single without any announcement or studio pictures?

I would still consider it a soundtrack album and not a Mariah Carey studio album. I still love Lead The Way and Never Too Far. I also like If We and Twister.

Re: Sia is over 40 and radio loves her (67,323) (67,326) by RibbonB from USA
She is rather a late bloomer as far as commercial success. She kept plugging away from the mid 90's to the late 2000's after establishing herself as a songwriter. Plus she is just 40 and reached the apex of her career in her mid to late thirties. Mariah, Whitney, Chaka you name them achieved fame early, so it is harder to stay on the charts and radio. R&B radio is all but dead for the past ten years which hasn't helped. There are all kinds of factors beyond those things and her image.

I thought the same thing too. It's more R&B than the rest of the songs and even her vocal delivery is Mariahesque. I like the song.

Re: Rank first singles (full length studio albums only) (67,318) (67,324) by Bill from the UK
I have to agree, Glitter was packaged and promoted like any other Mariah album with singles, music videos, remixes etc. The difference between Glitter and, say, The Bodyguard is that the latter had music from other artists who contributed and other soundtracks usually have score music included too. Even "Lillie's Blues" didn't make Glitter. There's also no "Music from the Motion Picture" prefix. A lot of fans say it's the best selling soundtrack of the year, rather than a rather ill-received career low point (by comparison to her previous decade of success). Personally though I enjoy the album and always include it in rankings and other lists.

Sia is over 40 and radio loves her (67,323) by Sheila from United States
Sia has no issue getting radio play over 40 years old, do you think it's because she's "anti" with playing into the young/model look that the older divas try?

Re: Rank first singles (full length studio albums only) (67,312) (67,318) by Andrew from UK
Once again you are seemingly disingenuous. "Glitter" may be the soundtrack to the film of the same name, but it is, also, a fully-fledged Mariah Carey studio album: it seems designed that it was anything but and the two are not mutually exclusive. The album (and project) was much of a failure so are you distancing Mariah from it? I have a sneaking suspicion that if the album has been a runaway success you wouldn't be claiming what you are.

Re: All I want for Christmas is a #1 (67,309) (67,317) by darrian liu from taiwan
I would say that the download/streaming day would have to be download/streaming weeks. From the past charts, it's clear that AIWFCIY is the strongest in the third week of December to the first week of January. Therefore, I think it would be best for the streaming/downloads week to be at the fourth week of December, that's where the peak activity is. Combined with the GP buying and streaming the song, it would propel the song to top 10. I hope Stella realizes the potential of AIWFCIY and come up with a hell of a promotional plan.

I use Tidal and iTunes and I always wondered why "Charm" and "Glitter" are not available on Tidal, any thoughts why?
