I agree with you to an extent, but there's a part of me that thinks she's reigning it in after what happened with Nick. Her and Nick were always so over the top with the public displays of affection, and I reckon she's just trying to avoid any more embarrassment. Or maybe I'm just being naive.

Breakdown is a good song, but for it to work, you'd have to bank on the fact that more than half of the audience there knows it as well to be worthwhile. She knows which songs go down well with larger scale audiences that may not be huge obsessed lambs, that know every ad-lib she has ever done. With tours, she can break out the AAO, LB's etc.

Lol Licia, she seemed ecstatic when she married in '08, she seems pragmatic this whole thing with JP. The Scientology part should be the biggest drawback IMO and that has not been a secret to her. Anyway, she will do what she will do and let the casino chips fall where they may.

I think people may feel that way because it doesn't look as if there is any chemistry between them. Well that's what I see when I look at pics of them together. Some of their moments together that get captured always look staged and unnatural to me. Like they are trying to force it. I don't expect her to be tongue kissing or dry humping the man in public, but their affection level is at a 2 and if I was marrying a billionaire that I claim to love, my affection level would be at 20. Lol I won't say they aren't going to get married nor will I say she's not happy (happier than ever is a stretch though because I've seen her over the moon happy in her other relationships as well), but I do understand why some people my think it.

Yes, she has been a lil late a few times lol. As far as Breakdown for the setlist. I don't think that song would have gone over well at all. Lot of people like it, but I don't think it's a crowd pleaser at that type of event. But you are right, we all could make up our own wish list of what would go well. I absolutely love TMB, so glad she does it, plus she gets to act silly with an audience member. Wish she would do it live with the band playing to it. That beat is so infectious.

"The wedding will not happen" (64,022)
by Martyn from England, UK

Has anybody else noticed that a lot of people seem to think the wedding isn't going to happen? Wendy Williams has said it numerous times, and I often see comments on blogs/the MailOnline etc. from people who also seem to agree. I don't get it. What would Mariah or James gain from it? I find it all a bit bizarre. Mariah seems happier since meeting him in my opinion.

I can agree that Breakdown and Love Takes Takes Time would have been nice, but I'm sure we all have a list that we think would be better. With the exception of Make It Happen and Touch My Body I think she picked a pretty decent setlist. It was a real treat(for me of course) to see her perform the SoSo Def remix of Honey. I didn't expect that. *shrugs*

Eh. It was ok I reckon. I think it's a wasted opportunity not to have tailored her set better to the audience. How does she not perform her r&b classsic "Breakdown"? "Love takes time" would've been great too. But she didn't fall down on stage so I guess we can call this show a success. Go Mariah.

Very very proud of Mimi for dodging her imminent breakdown/emotional meltdown/midlife crisis/unavoidable downfall/whatever he said to shut the haters down. Where they at now? Maybe scanning the video clips desperately noting down all verses she was lipping?

It's so refreshing to see the majority of positive messages on the message board today. I am beyond proud of our girl and the show she put on at The Essence Music Festival 2016. Words can not begin to describe how overjoyed I am to see that our girl was able put on a show that was worthy of her status as a true diva and music icon. I am also glad she kept the diva attitude and antics in check. Kudos MC I am very proud of you. Now you keep on shining as only you can MC.

Now, now. Lol remember a black audience once boooed Whitney back in the day. It can happen to anyone. But in general we are warm and welcoming too. Lol. I expected nothing less from a crowd of rich to working class, mostly middle aged folks there for an empowering event and good music. I did read a few grumbles about her being on "you know what time" though. Lol.

Mariah killed it. She really put on a show. Words can't express the euphoric high I'm on right now. Now I've seen Mariah in concert plenty of times. I must say this concert is close to be being the best. I mean she really put on a show. Cool to see JD and Da'Brat. I thought Missy was gonna pop up from underneath the stage, lol. Man Mariah was the iceing on the cake honey. She connected with the audience and didn't have alot of "diva" antics. She was more like a "humble" diva, lol. Highlights for me was well basically everything along with watching my mom and loud ass aunties sing VOL, Make It Happen, and WBT, lol.

Mariah I am so proud of the job you did last night. Sounded amazing, looked great and she had this fierce yet classy confidence. Loved it. And it was nice to see JD and Brat there too. Glad she went with My All as she has been delivering that song with new life as of late, and Emotions was powerful. So so proud.

I've only seen one short video of her singing the intro to Emotions. She sounded good. I hope to find more. Glad JD and Brat came to support her and she seemed to pick the right songs. She left Crapfinity in Vegas. Lol.

This is very huge, 75k people. Mariah must nailed this one. The expectations are coming, I'm currently watching the live stream of the festival and they are having like a backstage moment earlier and majority of the people who interviewed were excited to see either Mariah, Diddy, or Common. This can cause her like what the Rockefeller 2014 has done to her image if she didn't give her all, I'm crossing my fingers that nothing bad will happen, that she rehearsed well, and all things are very much ready with her set list. Break a leg Mariah, all lambs are cheering you up.
