It was very funny, loved the "no no no" part. Just listened yesterday to Ariana's new song, terrible is not enough word to describe it and I won't even get into detail of what I think of her in the video as I want to respect the webmaster rules. Can we say to her "bye bye"? Lol.

Re: Adele's Hello and the 3-minute something songs (57,599) (57,602)

You know Edward, I completely forgot about IWKWLI. I could never get into that song, I love the way she sang it but I don't know, I never felt the song, it is not her fault, the song itself, I never felt connected to it, I don't feel it had a huge impact (not even half perhaps) that "Without you" had. I heard it a couple of times but still does nothing for me, the videoclip was one of the worst in my list. I did like her rendition of George Michael but also think alike, she played it safe, still sounded beautiful. Most people seem to still prefer the original, some say her version wasn't good at all (I'm no George expert or anything, I love his voice, some of his songs but I'm not one to say his version is untouchable or hers is not good enough, can't really judge), I like both versions. Up to this day I still wonder about that Infinity remix, it felt so out of place haha, all that people mashed up in one remix and it didn't do any good to it, I did love her parts and one part Justin sang. I don't like Justin voice neither the way he sings, I wished it was just Mariah all the way in that remix. She needs to find a really good song to cover and give all of her in it again. The late ones seemed baked half and half.

Mariah the witch (57,600)
by Lee TS from USA

What a witch she was. I am dying over her gorgeous hair, I couldn't get over how amazing her hair looked, it was pure perfection. I loved her whole getup and did I peek her cheating with the shoes? If I'm not mistaken those are her slippers. This clip seriously had me dying, it's the over dramatic diva who knows she's playing along. She is giving face for days. I'm glad Mariah and Nick can get together for the kids, let's hope everything goes smoothly with the divorce. So good to see her enjoying her life.

Adele's Hello and the 3-minute something songs (57,599)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Just heard Adele's "Hello" for the first time and I must admit I liked it. It is a 6-minute song, but I rather have a long song telling a good story, than a 3-minute something song for the sake of the charts. I love when Mariah takes her time to develop an idea in a song regardless of its time length, like "Through The Rain", "Outside", "The Beautiful Ones". There are songs Mariah has released as singles that left me wishing for something that was missing, like "#Beautiful", or when she cut short "I Wanna Know What Love Is". Mariah did an excellent job vocally on "I Wanna Know What Love Is", but by leaving out a full verse, it didn't quite live up to my expectation, and many critics stated Mariah had gone full karaoke on us. "One More Try" is a masterpiece. George Michael murdered that song so well so nobody could revive in the future. When it was confirmed Mariah would cover it, I couldn't believe it. I first was praying she didn't turn it into a 3-minute something song, but I was also hoping she would murder it even deeper than George Michael originally did, but unlike her rendition of "The Beautiful Ones", she did played it very safe and it even sounded autotuned at times. I don't understand why she even touched it. To my understanding, it is the worse cover she's ever recorded so far. I really wish for the perfectionist Mariah used to be. I hope she thinks twice before releasing songs like "Infinity" and its respective remix, because those type of mediocre songs are stains on her stellar discography. Now that her divorce is over, and that she seems to be in a happy place, I hope she finds her muse once again. She only have herself to blame for getting us used to such quality music.

I was waiting for this to be posted, and I'm so glad it did. It's so inspiring and mature to see parents that are not together come together for the children that is absolute good parenting right there. Kudos to you Nick and Mariah.

There's no doubt most of us wish for answers only she has haha. Don't forgot she's done a Vegas residency which she could have filled with a bunch of songs she's comfortable with but she didn't, a lot of them she left in the 90's lol I think the case with the Macau performance was the fact that she was in a foreign country and those songs are pretty much known world wide. So those people who went knew them and could enjoy it/sing along. The thing is it's up to other people to use their money how they like and if they don't mind a little lipping from her majesty then who cares? It would be out of order if she was lipping every single live performance the entire way through but she isn't, thankfully.

I liked it, no she didn't work the stage but vocally it was cool. I liked the reworking of "Touch my body". Mimi also appears to be losing weight.

Luke, I think it's laziness now. Confidence? Well, don't charge a fee or charge for tickets, then. It's like Randy's comment about TTR and the choir that was tacked on while she lipped a high note for a long time. Even just singing other songs would help. But it's the same songs sung or lipped in practically the same places in the same way. No confidence? Okay, either don't perform or perform and don't charge for it. This isn't a career necessity, it's a personal choice.

Mariah looks hot tamale at her Halloween party picture. Everything is perfection in the photo. Love the semi dramatic eye makeup, that "My All/Stay Awhile" hair, that hourglass figure.

Yeah I understand what you're talking about. I think a big part is her confidence. When her confidence is at a great point she owns it. Look at 2008, she sang her songs so good during that period and the same during 2003-05. I'm glad she hasn't been mucking up recently though to be honest. I'd rather her play it safe and gain her confidence in her own way and then start really going for it when she's ready. When she got slammed for her Christmas mistake last year I think she was over confident from her tour a few months earlier. I think that's what she's learned from.

Luke, I understand your points. But recently all I come off feeling is either 1) she was out of tune or 2) "she got through it". Isn't the point of watching someone sing live to be entertained and moved in some way? MC now stands still and isn't actually putting much effort in. It's dull as [censored]. What happened to the vocalist that would command a stage and be playful etc? I feel like if she simply just went for it, a la the old times, it may come off good. And be entertaining. Standing still and half-[censored] though a song is not entertaining. And [censored] does she has to start singing different things from her catalogue? Emotions, ABMB etc? Even the choices are dull and effortless.

I was just playing. I brought up Ariana because people say she's this amazing singer with this big voice. As if there aren't any unknown people out in the world who not only have better voices but who can out sing her easily. I just can't stand her because she actually believes she's so great. When you make your channel be sure to post it here. I would like to hear your talent.

Post bits on Instagram, like some kind of "preview", then you can link them all to YouTube (don't know if Instagram is allowing links anymore).

I'm planning to make a YouTube channel with my friend soon though. If I posted my first video I'll tell you guys.

Macau was great (57,582)
by May from Denmark
| |
|
|
A while ago I managed to watch the videos and I'm very happy with the outcome. I think Mariah did great, it seemed obvious she was in control most of the times. Yes her runs are still not much there yet, but she found a way to make it sound good nonetheless just like in 2012. I really liked how she sounded on "Hero" and the mid to end of WBT. She did back off a couple of times but it all seemed well done. Andrew, I truly believe those whistles were live, don't know which video you watch, some have a terrible sound and more deep. The only hit and miss I notice was TMB, where she ran out of air (or didn't remember all the lyrics) in a part and then her voice breaking (getting incredibly raspy) by the end but still everything else sounded great. Her higher notes seem more light and thin, as if she is having a "girlie girl" sound right now but not in a bad way, her tone is still very pleasant and the negative thing I personally think there was with her performance, was that she didn't seem to use the stage that much, mostly stayed in one place for all the songs and the dresses were all black, the stage pretty much didn't have amazing lighting so she didn't stand out. I'm very glad with the state of her voice at the moment and how well she sounded.

Haha. Then you will say she sounds horrible and needs to take a break. Call her insecurities truth and then yell at everyone on this post for not agreeing with you. Giovanni and yourself need to honestly take it down a few notches. I love you guys and respect your opinions but seriously though, you both are starting to be too much. I always feel like we are in a realm of 24 questions. How about this: please say one great thing that you love about Mariah Carey and then I will be happy enough to agree to your criticism. Can you do that? Let us feel your compassion. My goodness gracious. Love you guys.

I wouldn't say half sung, I've always thought when watching her it's like she doesn't truly trust her voice. It's the only way I can explain it. I think she sang a lot of them well but with Emotions, that is more about the whistles and always has been. Obviously she could go for the belts easier when she was younger but now she focuses on making the whistles sound good. Let's not forgot she's been killing that intro for a good year which she hasn't done since the MTV taping. There is improvement though, hopefully she can get the confidence she had in 2003 and on the Charmbracelet tour.
