Loving the videos that are surfacing from her Beacon show(s). As a side note, am I the only one who kinda misses the glittering mic plus mic stand? It was so Mariah.

There are people already claiming lipping and trickery. If that's what people want to see, their minds are already made up. It's unfortunate because it's like cheating yourself out of what is there that is 100% live. When it is actually live, people will argue that it isn't. It's like creating drama is more interesting than the truth. Lol. At this point, I just want to enjoy Mariah period. Yes, she lips at times, yes there are tough performances, but it is also about Mariah the human for me, not just Mariah the celebrity. She just will never please everyone. I love her. I'm happy she's still performing. I'm proud to consider myself a lamb. I love her bean shows and have both years.

Article: The 9 merriest moments from Mariah's Christmas show (58,307)
by Lee from UK
| |
|
|
We must have been listening to two completely different performances here. They did some pretty neat sound engineering but to those of us who have listened to Mariah doing this for years, there was a lot cheating happening. It is clear to hear where they faded out Mariah's live vocals and faded in the pre-recoded vocals then faded them out again just in time to make us think that they were actually live.

I think there might be a chance for it to enter Top 10. This can be her 28th Top 10. If it goes #1, she'll make history by becoming the first act to have a song top the Hot 100 decades after its premiere.

Mariah Carey - Oh Holy Night (live at Beacon Theatre 2015.12.08). Chills I tell you, chills upon chills. Mariah already sounds so so good and it's only opening night. Her tone is so piercingly angelic it's rediculous. I'm thoroughly wowed. I was just about to type how I hope they are documenting this but they obviously already did for the Christmas special on Hallmark airing right after A Christmas Melody. Ha. I guess a DVD release wouldn't hurt us too much either. Hint hint. Congrats on an amazing premiere last night and break a nail tonight Mimi.

Let's focus on the present (58,304)
by May from Denmark

It warmed my heart when I listened to Oh Holy Night. There is no lip synch as it has already been claimed by some around in other places. It's purely 100% live and easy to notice if you compare it with her previous show in the 2014. In that year her voice was at a better point, better than it's been in years, yet still she struggled with some raspy notes and the belted "divine" by the end of the song was cut short to add some other notes, still she did great. I thought that couldn't have been beaten this year, but after watching her current performance I am amazed. She still has some little issues with her "baby breath voice" but her high pitches are all coming back, her voice is sounding powerful. Her belts were much better than the 2014 live version. I will post the links to both videos, this is the 2014 version slightly longer because the instrumental part and the 2015. Mariah is full blown back. She is sounding amazing, better every time. I wouldn't be surprise if there's a big second comeback. Let's focus on the present, the present is looking the best it looked in years, Mariah seems to be in a happy state, she is in a relationship that seems fitted right now, her kids are big enough to go to school and her having more time to be dedicated to her music again (all those who have children know what a hard work it is to juggle everything even when you have help), she looks like wanting to be physically fit again which will help a lot with the breathing and on-stage stamina. She is so busy and she does look tired yet she still shines an incredibly light. I think the whole management changes and team have also done great for her psyche. I can only wish for this to be her year, so far it is all going the right direction.

The snowman (58,303)
by Jono from USA

First things first, there is definitely an improvement in Mariah's voice. This is the best she's sounded in a couple of years, and I'm so happy because it shows that she still takes her voice seriously. So did anyone catch the awesome rendition of AIWFCIY here? Mariah sounded great but I think our girl got upstaged by the snowman. He was ridiculous I was laughing so hard.

So does anyone have a setlist of last nights show? It seems like it's a lot of the same as last year. Which is fine, I really enjoyed it and she looked and sounded amazing. My only disappointment is that she didn't do Miss You Most. She sang Hero but not Miss You Most. I wish she replaced Hero with that. How amazing would it be if she gave us a snippet of Where Are You Christmas? Ugh, I would give anything to hear what Mariah sounds like singing that song, other than what I imagine it to be.

Mariah at the Beacon (58,301)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
From the videos that I have seen, MC did a great job at the Beacon. This is the time of year where her voice shines the most because she knows most of the audience is filled with lambs, therefore she can relax and give a better performance. I did hear a little lipsyncing here and there but it doesn't bother me at all because she kept it to a minimum and it was incorporated in a way where it complimented her live voice rather than completely replacing it. Overall I think she did a wonderful, festive job and I hope this Beacon tradition doesn't end anytime soon.

Michael, well said. I am an English major and profoundly enjoyed what you said. It's difficult to argue with said "trolls". They tend to exist everywhere online and at distinctive locations. I, as well, prefer to be anti social on forums nowadays. However, my love for Mariah Carey knows zero bounds, to the contrary. I will not stop, drop, and roll because "said troll" is an unhappy child. I am a man of my word. When I say I am done talking to you, I mean it completely. My suggestion to you is to avoid getting caught up in his games. I made that mistake and I won't do it again. I literally felt like I was beating a dead horse. Once again, well said and welcome to this post.

It's the most wonderful time of the year (58,296)

I'm happy for Mariah. I remember when she used to speak of plans for Christmas shows. This is the second year she does the Christmas shows. She materialized her dreams. I enjoy the Christmas season much. For me, it's not a big deal she's "the queen of Christmas". Lastly, I always see the holiday season as a way to reflect about our lives. Let's think why we are all on this board. Do we appreciate her legacy? I know it gets awkward here with discussions about her voice. I'm just thankful she is still in the business. Her instrument, her voice is unparalleled. Buh bye (high note).

When I say 1996 vocals I meant 1996 vocal technique. Lol. I know that right now her lives can't compare to her studio recordings, it's obvious. She needs more training and hard work to live up to her recordings. Or maybe she can record something simple and stays in a comfortable range. Help Me Make It Through The Night and Right To Dream songs are perfect for her right now.

Re: Performance with Busta (58,284) (58,294)

I ain't being delusional. It's true that Mariah seldom goes off-pitch. Singers who are talented naturally stays on-pitch. In studio, she seems to have more confidence too. That's what makes a difference between her studio recordings and live performances. The numbers I presented were used as a figure of speech to emphasize her seldom she goes off-pitch. Mariah doesn't just scream out notes then autotune it in studio. For example, Make It Look Good's high note. It is autotuned but that note is very well-placed and nicely sung. Autotune only corrects pitch.

Re: New Mariah Carey TV special to follow "ACM" (58,285) (58,293)

This news really does make me happy. I was hoping she would find somewhere to do a Christmas special to redeem herself and stick it to the technicians that leaked her vocals. I can't believe she is singing with Babyface. One could hope that after the performance they would immediately work on a song together. I hope that this is the beginning of a partnership with Hallmark to play her projects whether it be music, movies, or otherwise.

I think there's a difference too in live singing and studio recordings. Based on personal experiences, while recording I can hit better notes because there are only few people around. I feel more assured and can hit higher notes and better notes while recording. Singing live, there's so many hesitations because there are a lot watching so naturally you'll feel more hesitant. Mariah has said that she's more of a recording artist so maybe that's what she felt post-1996. From 1990 to 1996 she consistently surpasses her recording. After that she starts to have a lot of insecurities in her voice although it's still very much capable of doing what it used to do. I'm one of those who think her 1996 vocals can come back, she just needs to work very hard to polish her technique. I think that's why post-1996 she rarely surpass her studio recordings.

I have been a lurker here for over 5 years. I enjoy following the conversations, the reactions of frequent posters. I'm rather anti social, and not very talkative. However, I feel I needed to make this account, unfortunately just to feed a troll. Andrew, you are a troll, a brilliant one at that. I'm sure that brought you a smile. It is a testament to the webmaster's spirit of free speech that you are allowed to post here. On behalf of the majority of this sites readers, [censored] you. You embody every characteristic of a toxic person, you stoke negativity at every opportunity, while under the facade of being honest. You actively obscure your bias while at the same time stating you are being objective. You deride people who do not want to engage in your dire perspective. You ignore the truths of being a singer, yet ignore that with someone like Mariah who has a physically unique situation with her vocal cords. You are a bully and a troll, go ahead and protest. I remember when you once said you would leave if everyone wanted you to. There was a large number of upvotes to your post but yet you are still here. I'm glad I dont know you in real life. I hope the webmaster will post this, on behalf of anyone who can put the pieces of your demented puzzle together, again [censored] you.

New Mariah Carey TV special to follow "ACM" (58,285)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |
|
|
Oh Santa. Get ready for Mariah Carey's Merriest Christmas. The Grammy-winning singer stars in a new holiday special, "Mariah Carey's Merriest Christmas", airing on the Hallmark Channel at 10 p.m. Saturday, Dececember 19, immediately following the premiere of her "A Christmas Melody" movie filmed here in October. Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Emmy-winner Kelsey Grammer ("Frasier") and Billy Gardell ("Mike & Molly") will perform in the one-hour special. "A Christmas Melody" cast members Lacey Chabert, Brennan Elliott and Fina Strazza also will appear to share their "holiday memories and experiences from working with Mariah on-set during production of the movie", according to the Hallmark Channel release. Yay. After reading the whole article I'm beyond excited. It's like a full partnership with legs and tentacles for years and years to come with Hallmark. I could literally cry you guys. MiMi's been so good to us this year. These things make me that happy. Team Mariah better have or get a wirkdwide distribution deal secured with NBC Universal so us international Lambs can enjoy the festivities too. Are you guys so excited?
