Jeff Beacher. (53,999) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter So according to Jeff, the video was supposed to be out last week. Mariah also said the video was supposed to be out right after Memorial Day, which means from her side the video was done. Plus she also went to Ellen to give a teaser, which I am sure was to hype it up because it was going to be released shortly. I am sure Brett didn't take long to finish it either. So it has to be someone from Epic blocking it. I don't know whose bright idea it was to not release it yet. What a waste to a video that was getting a lot of hype. After spending so long being anxious over the video and venting, I am now literally that emoticon, the one laughing but with tears falling down the eyes because I have gone a little cuckoo by now. Britney and Mariah (53,997) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines It could work. They are both brilliant artists who were unstoppable at their prime and have been through hell and back. Why shouldn't it work? Okay, I know this is a Mariah board, but I wanna spread some Britney love as well. I always feel like I have to defend her in a way. Yes, she isn't that much of a singer, and that pairing her with Mariah would be like pitting a kitten against a lion, but she does have something in common with Mimi and that is having an instantly recognizable voice. If your squeaky voice can still be discerned even when it's buried under tons of autotune, I mean, that's a gift. And people always overlook the fact that she is probably the best vocal actress out there. She does have a limited range, but she takes advantage of what she has by being able to match her way of singing to what the song requires. Anyone who has heard her entire catalogue can see that she's more than just a producer's muse. Plus she's got unparalleled charisma. So yeah, I also have a soft spot for her. Yeah, I had a feeling it was rushed as well, which probably shows just how much they were pressed for time and maybe even were playing catch-up so that's probably why it doesn't sound as polished as the rest of the album. And yes, that taste of what it could've sounded like in the remix just shows how much more potential it could have had to be a hit single. Heck, that Fireckracker sample is even immediately catchier than the samples used for Honey and Heartbreaker in my opinion. Such a wasted (stolen) chance. (Monday 1 June 2015; 12:45)

Me I am Mariah. The Misunderstood Chanteuse (53,995) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Mariah is definitely one of the most misunderstood public personalities in the world. Not just her behavior but her craft too. First of all the diva rumors/semi-truths. We know she likes the finer things in life and there is nothing wrong with it, she earned it, she can do whatever she wants with her money. People blow it out of proportions. Second, "MC is jealous of other female artists". People always focus so much on 2-3 female artists she has supposedly shaded but they don't speak a word when MC continuously praises other mainstream stars. In AI, while commenting, MC said Rihanna (who is so close to taking MC's record) is a worldwide superstar, she always praises Beyonce. Third, the music. I see a lot of people in comments sections of articles writing "can't stand her screeching voice" and all. Non-listeners probably think MC is always singing only in her whistle register or she always sings high haha. I think MC really uses the whistle register as a great icing rather than just showing it off. Like "Emotions was a song where she showed off her whistles" but in most songs MC uses it perfectly in places which adorns the songs beautifully. People didn't listen to songs like "Looking in" or others which are quite subtle yet delivers powerful messages. MC has such a diverse range of sounds and songs, but people generalize her songs based on just a view that they heard. There are a lot more, these are a few examples. (Monday 1 June 2015; 10:56)

Indonesian tributes to Mariah Carey (53,994) by PieterLamb from Indonesia During the album release party held by Sony Music Indonesia titled "A Night to Infinity: A Tribute to Mariah Carey", our local talented singer, Melly Mono, covered three of Mariah's #1's single: Emotions, Dreamlover and Hero. She was a member of the Indonesian girl band called SHE and since last year had decided to pursue her own solo career. Melly stated Mariah Carey has been her own inspiration in singing. Tiina / Beyonce (53,992) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I completely agree with that point of view, infact I have always been thinking that. The "pseudo-feminism" thing. Always trying to come up with songs saying how women should embrace their natural beauty and body and then going ahead all over social media, photo shopping her "candid" photos all the time. Creating crazy thigh gaps that are so cringe worthy because we know she is naturally curvy (and might I add that the glorious curves are what really makes her sexy). Lightening her skin so much over the years. Why go out of your way to make yourself look like something you are not while telling others to do the opposite? Mixed messages all around. Then she had this image that she wants to keep her private life private (which I am fine with) but now she is so overexposed. Selling out her wedding videos and starting divorce rumors to sell tickets. (Monday 1 June 2015; 10:25)

Britney duet (53,991) by Darryle from USA I love Mariah and Britney. They're probably my favorite female artist so I'd love to see them duet. Britney has been saying she wants to work with Mariah for 15 years. It'd be interesting to see what they would come up with knowing how different their sounds are. I love to see her taking care of herself again in all these different ways. If the woman wants gold leaf butterflies in her dressing room you better hurry up and get it done "now" son. "She has told backstage staff to prepare platters of only blue and purple-coloured foods, such as aubergines and blackberries, for her to snack on." Now that sounds healthy and yummy. Then there is this "She's banned anyone who comes within two feet of her from wearing man-made fibers." I agree with that also. Wearing natural fibers is good for everyone. She does have this "mainstream" sound type of thing going on though, but that doesn't mean that the duet would be successful. Mariah and Britney (53,987) by Marissa from USA I don't see it happening, nor do I want it to. Britney's voice is shot. Her image is also in question because she seems like a very anxious shell of the woman she used to be and many people have picked up on it. Look at the comments of any video that she's been within the past couple years. There will always be a special place in my heart for Britney because she's a symbol of my younger years, but Mariah needs to stay on the winning team. Britney has her own career kinks to work out. If Mariah ever collaborated with another female singer I vote for Beyonce. (Monday 1 June 2015; 3:25)

Re-re-release of Merry Christmas (53,986) by Warrior Butterfly from USA I don't like the idea unless there's some tracks that did not make it on the original. I'm confused first the greatest hits and now Merry Christmas. What's next? Emotions re-issued as a double album? If they want to get nostalgic do a Columbia anthology box set and load it with all seven albums and fan booklets. I don't know. I excluded Merry Christmas, it was made for the holiday season only, #1's because Sony already gave us a refreshed #1's and anything past 1999 because I'm not sure how someone can convince another label to release material that belongs to them such as Virgin and Island Def Jam. Shadriah: the truth about the battle (53,985) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia I agree with Mimi L., the Ariana thing was blown way out of porportion. She really didnt even directly say anything about the girl at all. I just think people wanted to make a big deal out of it. Christina A. is known for having a really foul attitude herself and rubbing people the wrong way, many have spoken out against her. Now while I can admit that Mariah could've been a little warmer to certain female singers (Leona Lewis in particular), it's not entirely true that she doesn't show love to up and coming singers that admire her. I've said this before, but she's been very complimentary to Beyonce, Rihanna, Pink, Jasmine Sullivan, Kelly Clarkson, Jordan Sparks etc. and ofcourse she always shown a great deal of respect to the legendary Aretha, Patti, Gladys, Carol King etc. As for the Nicki situation, yes she's had hits since AI (I wouldn't say she's even bigger) and MC had #Beautiful, I don't think their "feud" really affected much. Lets remember Mariah is a woman over 40 and we know how that goes for radio. If MC got the same airplay and continue to get her live voice back on point, I'm sure her career would be in a much better place. (Monday 1 June 2015; 2:09)

We waited 5 years for MIAMTEC and unlike many of you, I wasn't impressed. Do you think LA Reid is nervous about creating a studio album and therefore hesitating with all this other "stuff"? Mimi L. (53,983) by Giselle #1 Mariah Critic from USA Oh girl, Von problem, I didn't take it personal. But this is no shade towards anyone Beyonce or anyone. But post 2013 "condescending Beyonce" towards her peers still wins Grammy gold. It's not because her music is of high quality either. This is a "catty business' and it's who you know. Beyonce, makes nice with a lot of important people. A lot of people assume still that Mariah isn't doing well because of age and sex, which is all half true. But, she's not Madonna dance pop aka self life. It's because she comes off as a spoiled high maintenance queen. I can't even say how many articles online in the comment sections you read the same things over and over again from people saying the same thing. They don't say her music sucks, they say they can't stand her because of her public persona. She has fun with the diva image but only fans know that. It's not coming across to others as that. You still got British people who believe she really wants white carpet and white puppies every time waiting for her lol, she's the one who started the rumor lol they still don't get it. Likeability (53,982) by Tiina from Finland I recently came across an internet article on female celebrities called "The women we hate". Mariah's picture popped up. Apparently "we" hate her because she's such a diva. That's nothing new of course but it annoys me. I admit, before I became a lamb I thought the same. I had heard of her diva reputation and although I thought her voice was stunning, I had no idea that Mariah was really a songwriter and that she was much more multidimensional than just a girl in a boring gown belting out ballads. She's a diva of course but I mean that in a good way. It's a shame that the public sees her as nothing else, especially knowing her background, knowing how knowledgeable she is and reading interviews like that recent one where she really opened up. Mariah is one of the realest celebrities out there but she's being thought of as a ditzy diva. And then we idolize someone like Beyonce for the same reason. We worship her for her pseudo-feminism or female "empowerment" and give her more credit for her "groundbreaking" work than she deserves. I for one don't believe she really writes her songs. And we all know she borrows ideas and imagery. Don't get me wrong, I like her and saw her live last year in Paris but she's pretty much an air head. The woman can't verbalize or spell, so she just posts pictures of herself claiming to "woke up like this" but uses photoshop to create a tigh gap. While a great entertainer, she relies on smoke and mirrors and lips all the time but is worshipped. Annoying. (Monday 1 June 2015; 1:52)

Plus I seriously think those are just two of many songs she has stashed away in a bid not to let IDJ waste them. She mentioned the secret album twice, I think it's ready and good to go. I honestly think MC needs damage control commercially real quick with at least a top 20 song. Since 2010 Mariah has been plagued with one commercial disappointment after another and with the exception fo #B all her other efforts have been damaging her career real bad. I don't think they should waste time releasing or re-releasing a Christmas album right now. They can do that next year. For now, she needs to focus on her commercial success. She'll always stay the queen of Christmas, why even bother trying to milk it dry? (Monday 1 June 2015; 1:20)

I'd like her to have one with Taylor though. They can both write and have somewhat contrasting sound that'll be interesting to hear. I also wouldn't mind something with Beyonce or Rihanna. Has to do with her not being as sincere as she was before. Coming uber late to appearances, not coming at all sometimes (hello Rockefeller) and all that. I'm always one of the first to defend MC when it comes to her craft. So no it's not loopy, and I didn't expect Mariah to suddenly churn out 14 songs in 2 months to release within this year, I said she already has a huge stash of material, apparently a full secret album she has ready and she can just drop that. Because the way all her latest efforts are going, she is adding one commercial flop to her name or another. Plus what promotion are you even talking about right now? I don't see any happening at the moment, do you? And no, sorry my expecting Mariah to release a full album has nothing to do with her work ethic, I just don't think she spent 4 years writing only the songs included in MIAM. I'll repeat again, since you seem to read only what you think you see, I said drop the album you already have hidden. Not a new one. Why I said that? Because commercial success matters and "Infinity" can't seem to even cut it to top 100 anymore so there, she'll be left with yet another flop. Now isn't the time to take it slow because like it or not, the older she'll get, the lesser chances she'll have of redeeming herself. (Monday 1 June 2015; 1:07)

Insecurities and other female singers (chiming in) (53,976) by Tiina from Finland Mariah has insecure moments. She's only human and some of the best artists are often surprisingly insecure. Mariah has no reason to feel that way of course as undoubtedly she's the most talented singer in the history of recorded music but because she is herself and hears herself completely differently to anyone else, she can't ever really grasp that. But if you think about it, she really only has issues with singers that are being called the new young her (and who wouldn't when they put it like that?) but she's been very gracious with countless other female singers, like Kelly Clarkson, for example. And there are many more, like Aretha, Patti, Whitney, Olivia Newton John, Anita Baker, Cindy Mizelle, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Diana Ross and Beyonce to name a few. As for Nicki Minaj, I think Mariah was more genuienly offended because it really was a low blow to her to have to sit there in the same panel with Minaj. Mariah is a "singer's singer", she's a songwriter with 18 number 1's and she epitomizes what AI is all about. She's the most qualified judge that show has ever seen and for them to treat her that way, to force her be a part of a joke of a season, is still mind-blowing to me. I'm not at all surprised over her recent comments. I actually like that she's being real and letting them have it. They fooled her on the show by signing her first and then turned it into a joke as I said. They blew it. (Monday 1 June 2015; 1:05)

I sometimes write stuff that I am thinking (MC related) and post it here. But since you brought it up, well yes, she may have taken the other route for Ariana, but I still think the "shade" was blown out of proportions. As for Beyonce, I believe pre-2013 Beyonce was somewhat nice and relate-able but after the huge success of the recent album, I always see Beyonce being uber condescending through her body language towards everyone else (fans and colleagues). Plus the girl thrives on one publicity stunt after another yet still Rihanna gets more #1's than her. I'd honestly take Mariah's massive ramblings over Beyonce's condescending/publicity churning bull crap. Anyways, just to clarify, this is in no way a diss to you. I'm just venting here. Duets (53,974) by Tiina from Finland Some of you will gag I'm sure but I'm not totally against a duet with Britney. I mean, I have no idea what exactly they would do together lol but I dig Britney. She's a warm, sweet person and has had major hits over the years. Britney is soon entering legendary territory, although more so in the lane of Janet Jackson than Mariah of course but still legendary, iconic. I listen to her from time to time and I like her voice. She's a good pop singer. Definitely not the most controlled voice and her range is very limited to say the least but if you listen to her first few albums you'd be surprised of her pleasing tone quality and her ability to project an emotion in a song. And she's never claimed to be the next Whitney or Mariah, unlike a certain someone who shall remain nameless who has proclaimed herself as "the voice of the generation" (not the new generation, I'm not talking about Ariana) when she really is the noise of the generation. "But anyway," said like Mariah *hair flip* I'm up for a Mariah/Britney duet just because I like Britney but it's never going to happen. By the way, I think Mariah could do a duet with Celine. There were some discussion about it earlier. Celine is part of the vocal trinity, although in my opinion the least impressive of the three ladies. But they're still sort of in the same league and it would be another legendary moment, plus Mariah and Celine have been communicating with each other more and more over the past years, so why not?
