Re: Boycott the Christmas music (56,250) (56,257) by Chris from United States
This is all fine and dandy, and we all love it, but this is all in the past. No one cares much about what she's putting out there these days, because she's drifted so far from the beaten path. Even JD keeps trying to tell her, but it seems she won't listen when it comes to the music, and why not care about what the fans want? We put her where she is today. We're just doing the best to try to keep her there, but she seems to be misguided in some of her decisions. I just hope she wakes up soon. I just love her so much, and want the best for her.

Re: Boycott the Christmas music (56,248) (56,256) by 123 from USA
Amber, I believe the re-release is more about making a quick buck then getting one over on Mariah by having it fulfill part of her album contract. I don't know if you were around back in the day but Mariah had stated that her Christmas album did not count towards her album obligation on her first deal. Plus, wouldn't filling the album obligation quickly be the idea? Artist's used to be enslaved to 8 album deals with little chance at renegotiating, even if they go platinum on the first effort (which is what is supposed to happen). She didn't get the advance she wanted per the rumors but I'm sure the deal was still a good one considering she hasn't had any major success recently and bring her back on to promote her classic material was probably the selling point. She just needs to make good quality music with great lyrics and vocals. No more Triumphant (I could care less that the dance remixes are "decent", it still sucks), TOAG, Infinity, hell, even Beautiful sounded unfinished without a bridge. I need complete, well thought out, quality songs, lyrics, melodies, and vocals like the last album. Stop with the rush jobs, it will always show in the sales and chart positions.

All truths (56,255) by Amber C from USA
My title must have been too epic because no one is willing to disprove its content. But did I lie? No.

Re: Boycott the Christmas music (56,250) (56,254) by Amber C from USA
Yea yea yea, I heard what you had to say but still this music? Ofcourse people will buy it, ofcourse it will get support, but in the long run is it completely necessary? No. Her first Christmas album sold more than her second Christmas album, and I believe this new album will follow that trend. Time is ticking, the sooner that new music gets out there the better. This 25 year thing is also making Mariah see old lol. Why must we concentrate on Mariah entering the silver and golden years LA Reid? How is this a smart move? How is this a Mariah thing to do? I will always say Chantuese was a missed opportunity. And the music was great at Def Jam. Sony is giving me bad vibes tbh. But on the plus side Mariah "seems" happy. Right now Sony is milking Mariah. Just like they always do to legends.

Christmas (56,253) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
It's not "MCIIY" that is being re-released. They are re-releasing the original one. Which in my opinion is pretty unnecessary because either ways it sells like crazy every year. Plus we have heard every possible remix of "AIWFCIY". I am sick of L.A. Reid's stupid "vision". He is turning her into a re-release machine. I can understand the #1's being re-released since the original didn't have all of the songs together and also as a tie-in with Vegas, but re-releasing "MC" is silly. They need to stop living in the past. We have already established that Mariah is a global superstar. They should work on making her career going forward. She has the potential, she has the talent. But her only fault is she trusts L.A. a little too much. L.A. will only do what's good for his company (which he is right in his way), unlike what Mariah probably believes.

Re: Tamia (56,231) (56,252) by 123 from USA
I thought I had read somewhere that she said she would never cover Minnie out of respect. I see you are mentioning some old school whistle register singers. I'm currently listening to Desiree Coleman's You Wouldn't Hurt Me. That run she does in the whistle register at the peak of the song is so sick. I wouldn't mind her covering that song. Or maybe collaborate with another whistler like Chante Moore.

Sarah, I love you. Here is my LiarLiar line, "Sarah comes to save the day. Thank you Jesus that some of us understand 25 years in any industry means far more than not knowing what the hell knowledge they have. I laughed and hurled at the same time at our lamb siblings wanting to boycott. May I suggest to them, "get milk".

Re: Boycott the Christmas music (56,248) (56,250) by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA
Mariah reigns surpreme despite fans who pinpoint her every move and always want a different direction for her. Mariah does what she wants and she answers your boycott effortlessly by keeping you talking. I love the fact that Mariah does Mariah and doesn't listen to her fans either. She knows there are more who love her and less that are critical of her. Like I said before she will always be relevent because people will always care. Here are some facts in case you forgot:
- over 250 million records
- 18 #1s (all lead)
- over 16 Gold or Platinum albums or better (2 Diamond albums, 9x Platinum album, 6x Platinum album, 3-5x Platinum albums, 4x Platinum album, 2-3x Platinum albums, at least 3 albums certified platinum, at least 2-3 other Gold albums)
- 13 Platinum singles or better, several other Gold singles (USA)
- 25 years into her career here are the current trends for her
The 45-year-old diva, who has enjoyed success with her current "#1 To Infinity" show at The Colosseum, is confirmed to be mapping out a full fledged Euro run in early 2016. Kudos to Ms. Carey, who has in the last six months uprooted and replanted every important facet of her team (label, publicist, manager, and creative representation). - That Grape Juice.

Re: Christmas music (56,249) by Sarah from Netherlands
Mariah's been saying for 2 years now (!) that she wants to do a re-release of MCIIY. Mariah is one of the few who knows exactly how the industry works. Also, Andrew, jazz is a lot broader than improv instrumentals. Calling jazz "boring" kinda goes to show that you don't really know what jazz is about. Some of the world's best vocalists were jazz singers. That being said, Mariah doing Great American Songbook tracks with a soulful twist to it would be good. Let's not forget she produces, too.

Boycott the Christmas music (56,248) by Amber C from USA
They (Sony) think that they are slick by releasing a second album in a one year period when they probably have a four album deal (something like that) with Mariah. Therefore they will only probably let her release maybe two albums in the future of new material. LA Reid is snakey. The industry except Mariah knows this. I've been letting go of any dream for a Mariah musical return because she has obviously turned into a money monster due to the influence of her new boyfriend and her new record company. We could do without new Christmas ship. We could do without a remixes album or whatever Sony is crafting up. We could do without Mariah playing Mariah on Empire. Is Mariah really that gullible? How is it that Britney Spears who finds it difficult to speak on a regular bases has had a fan ustream where she answered their questions, but Mariah has not? Can someone with active social media accounts please contact Stella? Thank you. Stella is enjoying Ibiza and the Packer way too much.

A fan can only dream (56,246) by Giovanni from USA
For the real Mariah Carey to return. Let's be real here. Mariah has become a joke to most people. They don't see her as a legend nor give her the respect and praise she deserves. Which is more likely due to jealousy or because of her attitude. Either way, most don't care for her any more. Which is sad. Every artist's career hits rock bottom some point, but they're still continuously loved and supported by their fans. The two problems with Mariah is her music and her image. No grown person who knows what real music is going to listening to a song like "Infinity". She needs more better, stronger mature lyrics. Not to mention great music producers and collaborations. An album like "Musicbox" and "The Emancipation Of Mimi" combined would do her wonders. Along with a couple of songs that have a new sound. No more rappers and silly, cringing songs Mariah. Get your career and your fans back, or just bow out gracefully.

Jazz? Why you mad? (56,244) by Andrew from UK
Jazz is boring and terrible. Now, you may say that is my "opinion". However, it is not. It is a fact. Fact-a-mundo. It has been scientifically proven to cause 99.9% of suicides. The other 0.1% were either deaf or hard of hearing. For anybody who says Mariah should do a jazz album, get thee to a doctor. Or a funeral parlour, and send Mariah some coffin nails for her career. How boring. It seems like the question is being moulded to fit the answer: Mariah seems to find it easier to sing slowly, standing still, whilst not using a large range. I suppose most people do. Except it will write her off as a has-been for good. Something like YDKWTD with a banging video featuring a hot body, great performances, great promo would help. Jazz? I would rather listen to Triumphant, Thirsty, YM(E), Why You Mad? and most of Memoirs on eternal repeat. With the headphones glued to my head and a loaded pistol nearby.

Ugh yes, finally. Yes to everything in Lee's post. The original is great too. I love it. Triumphant the original is like "Hero" meets "Lil' Love". The "get 'em, get 'em" gets me pumping and energized. It might not have been great for a first single (of a highly anticipated album), but the song is definitely great. I can't understand the hate for it. "#JusticeForTriumphant". I am putting the hashtag in quotation marks so I hope it doesn't get censored to deleted.

The legacy and legend of Ms. Mariah Carey (56,241) by B from USA
Mariah's records for being the first female artist to debut a song at #1 on The Billboard Hot 100 (Fantasy) and being the first female artist to occupy the #1 and #2 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously. Plus, two back to back Billboard Hot 100 Songs of the Decade, One Sweet Day and We Belong Together. Plus All I Want For Christmas Is You and its continued yearly seasonally success. Her legend and legacy will always remain intact. She’s iconic.

Re: Triumphant - Infinity (56,236) (56,240) by Licia from USA
I actually agree. Although I don't listen to Triumphant a lot, it's a way better song than Infinity. Triumphant isn't bad at all. I hate that she took a backseat on her own song, but the few parts she sang on kills what she did singing the whole song of Infinity. Lol.

Triumphant - Infinity (56,236) by Lee from UK
I wouldn't class Triumphant in the same messy group as Infinity at all. I mean there are bad Mariah songs and then there are really bad Mariah songs. The Triumphant remixes are amazing tracks to work out and run to. It's a "go get 'em" song with great beats. Every time it comes on just as I'm about to give up and go home but it gives me the extra energy to keep going for that last 5 minutes. Just waiting for the high notes to kick in is amazing and when you feel like you have to jump off the treadmill and call it a day, the high notes are back and it's a real motivator.

Re: Wooden Mariah (56,229) (56,235) by MimiLamb from Germany
True, but it can go wrong as well, I think that is her biggest fear. I thought about that myself for a few years now, but in all honesty it's easier said by us to do it then for her to undergo this surgery. I do believe she considered it but maybe even the doctors told her it would be too big of a risk. Luckily a lot undergo it without a problem, but every surgery is unique and every vocalcord reacts differently or heals different, they just never know beforehand and they can't guarantee her it will be a success.

Re: New album (56,222) (56,234) by Musti from UK
I think we can definitely expect jazz influenced songs on the new album, judging by TGIFY and her performances during the tour. And I would enjoy that very much. I don't expect a complete overhaul of her sound, and nor do I think it is completely necessary since she has already built up her legacy. But she does need an urgent update. I still think electronic music would be a good influence on her. If there is anyone who can combine that genre with R&B, it's Mariah. MIAM is proof that she has matured at lot as an artist, but I think maturity can be found in all genres. I'm sure it would be amazing and I would expect nothing less from her. A little off point, but I've seen some fans discussing previously unreleased songs seeing the light of day. There was no re-release of her debut with rarities for its 25th anniversary. Nothing on #1's To Infinity we haven't already heard either. I doubt we'll be getting any unreleased songs until after she retires. Which is fine, we all need a retirement plan, so long as we get the songs in the end.
