Re: Mimi, I beg to differ (56,828) (56,834)

I have my favorite picks from CB era too but if I have to give an overall opinion, CB is one of Mariah's bad fashion eras. That's for me of course, not saying it's the ultimate truth. I was not a fan of the sweatshirts and some of the other weird tops she brought out during that era. However I didn't see any problem with her face and body. Her body was on point, she looked youthful and sexy, the makeup was good too. This happens to be one of her best outfit-hair-makeup moments and it's from the CB era. I absolutely love the old Hollywood inspired look here.

WoolPac's first Red Carpet moment at The Tribeca F (56,832)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |

Mariah and James first time out together at an industry event at The Tribeca Filmfestival. Here's the clip. ET: Date night tonight, are you supporting your man? (?) MC: Exactly ( ), it's fun. ET: You guys look incredible together. MC: Oh, thank you. ET: So Anne Hathaway, the star of the movie (The Intern ) just said that she is so excited that you are here. MC: Oh, really? We love her. ET: She's such a huge fan of yours and said when she was younger, she had a mechanical reindeer which she called "Charmbracelet" after your album. MC: Oh my, that is too cute. Come on, we love her. I gotta go inside and watch the movie. The Lambily is such an eclectic bunch you never know when one is gonna out themselves with some random hilarious story. I really love my people. Muah and shout out to WoolPac who looked amaze together. MiMi is glowing, thanks James.

Ooh cool thanks. Just shows how ageless she is, I couldn't even tell haha. She looks so stunning, she must have been inspired by that point in time since she's now worn her hair similar at the red carpet with James.

Mimi, I beg to differ (56,828)
by Lee TS from USA

I thought Mariah looked incredible during the CB era, the only thing I thought was a little off was Buckle caking on the makeup. I get the sweatshirt moments you were talking about because she was on a crazy promo tour. But since we're sharing, this still remains to this day one of my favorite Mariah Carey looks ever. She's casual, sexy, and flawless from head to toe. And it's a paparazzi shot too.

I totally agree, Bill. I think this_is_qhm wrote a pretty spot on post about it. The subject matter as a whole is irksome and lacks any sense creativity or purpose with respect to Mariah or how their fellow posters.

Now how stunning does Mariah look here? She is so naturally beautiful that she doesn't need to be showing a ton of skin to be sexy. Of course I love my Mariah "Marilyn" moments but this shows just how radiant she can be even while being covered up.

The Katy of it all? (56,824)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
Look, I myself am not a fan of Katy. I've mentioned a few times here before that her music is the embodiment of the term Top 40 - easily digestible, clearly geared for chart domination and dizzying repeated plays. Do I think she's a very bright person who thinks much about what she says? Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe it's not my place to judge especially since its not really the point because the point here is that it could be any artist at all - huge, on the rise, current, past their heyday, been appreciative of Mimi from the start, has wronged her in any way before, etc. - if they're saying something even remotely complimentary, then it couldn't be so hard for us to just look at the good and ignore the itch to always seek out the bad. And B, yes, you're right about her reconnecting with old fans, but she needs new ones as well to spread the word. I believe that's why TEOM was a success because managed the delicate balance of merging "classic Mariah" that resonated with the older fans with "edgy/modern Mariah" that connected with the younger crowd. She was 35 then yet teens were singing ILT and SIO. WBT and DFAU also managed to appeal to both demographics hence their success. So at a time where Mariah's criticized left and right on her diva antics or clothing choices, a good word from fellow artists would certainly help balance things out.

Faded (56,822)
by Ty from USA

I must admit I think Faded is the most radio single she's done in years. If you listen closely she's heartbroken in this record. The relationship has fallen apart, she has lost faith. The song is beautiful, it hurts just right.

No more collabs only for a remix. She needs to release songs with just herself but I wouldn't mind Beyonce. That would be a hot song. Or even Justin Timberlake.

If you could add anything to your Mariah (56,819)

If you could add anything to your Mariah music/memorabilia collection, what would it be? I'm curious to hear from other fans like me who still collect singles and such, what's on your wishlist and why?

New pictures (56,817)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Wow Mariah looks absolutely gorgeous in the new pictures. This picture of her and James is also so cute. She looks a lot slimmer and her face has become smaller. She is such a gorgeous woman. Dare I say she looks like she is on her way to her 2013 look? What I love the most about the pictures though is the fact that her smile looks genuine. She looks genuinely happy and that makes me happy. She has been through a lot this past year and she deserves to be in a good place. Also I am loving the fact that we are basically getting new Mariah photos almost everyday since she is out and about socializing. I think this is the aubergine colored version of the navy blue Alaia dress she wore a while back. Yay to them boobies deciding to stay covered. She looks a lot younger here.

That picture is from the Charmbracelet era 2003. Here's the full outfit. This is one of my favorite looks of Mariah. Perfect blend of classy and sexy and one of the few times she got the fashion right during the CB era because I was not loving those sweatshirt moments.

Is that picture Mariah posted recent? Or an old one? I've never seen it before and she looks so pretty. I always wondered why she got rid of her fringe/bangs. They suit her a lot and make her look younger somehow.

Giovanni, I will actually agree with you and take Taylor off my list. Actually I just included her because she is a songwriter and Mariah respects songwriters but you are right, it would be a weird combo. Her latest song "Wildest Dreams" is not bad though. I absolutely hate her SIO. It's annoying and I don't get why people love it.

Sam Smith, Robin Thicke (wherever the hell he is lol), one with Miguel again for sure, Pharell. But no to Beyonce and Taylor. Beyonce is [censored] and not my cup of tea. And is it really necessary to explain why for Taylor? Just watch her try and sing on stage lol. Or when she's not sounding flat with her live singing she's lipping. You've got to "shake her off" Mimi L. I have.

I doubt Mariah would want to do a duet with The Weekend because Ariana Grande already did a song with him. I doubt she wants the GP to compare the two songs, too much drama for a song. Shame because I believe both would do a hell of a song.

The Weeknd would be a great collab for a midtempo song, and Sam Smith for a ballad, both of them have voices that would merge well with Mariah. I doubt Mariah would do a duet with Taylor, since she's apparently more on "team Katy" and all the "bad blood" between them. Anyway, I just need a good song.

Collabs (56,806)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

If Mariah is cool with Beyonce and she wasn't referring to her as the thief, then I am still up for the MC-Bey collaboration. I think a strong female anthem or whatever these two cook up would be a chart burner. I would also love for a MC-Damita Jo moment. Two legends in one song, is the world ready? Robin Thicke, Chris Brown, Miguel and The Weeknd need to get into the studio with MC asap. I am open to a MC Britney collab, I think it could be a hot number and their styles are so different, it would be interesting. Sam Smith is another artist I would adore to hear singing on a track with Mariah. But before any other male collaborations, I would like to hear MC on a track with one of the current hot female artists, she can pick anyone (Bey, Rihanna, Taylor or whomever).
