Connor Bethune (53,057)

I agree with you Connor Bethune. People should focus their energy on the positive and not negative. Abraham, I know that you have a right to criticise what you are buying so my suggestion is to first stream the song and if you don't like it then don't buy it. In that way you don't have to feel "cheated".

I'm really wondering what it'll take to please some of you so-called fans. You say she's destroying her legacy, yet every review, except one, has praised her, saying that she put on an incredible show and that she is "back". Everyone in the audience loved it, as they gave her multiple standing ovations. Also, Infinity has been getting raves from the public. Yet, here you guys are. Bitching as usual. Mariah is trying to re-establish her image to the public and giving her all to come back, yet here you ungrateful shits are saying that she needs to do more. More? What the hell else do you want? You hate her lipsyncing? Mariah has been lipsyncing since 1997. Accept it or leave. Just leave. No one is asking you to continue to wallow in your eternal disappointment. I'm a young lamb, yes, but even I know not to expect 90s level vocals coming from a 45 year old woman who has been through hell and back and is still the greatest singer in the world. No one can sing like Mariah Carey even today. What do you guys want? You want her to achieve the impossible and suddenly sound like it's 96 again? Wake up. Put on your earphones and listen to the Daydream tour and album if that's what you want. Get over yourselves. You are the ones trying to ruin her legacy by consistently being negative. This messageboard is supposed to be a community where fans can feel good. And now, I almost dread coming here. I'm just happy that Mariah is still making music even with such ungrateful fans. Ugh.

Project Infinity (53,055)
by Seth M from South Africa
| |
|
|
As you guys know, Infinity made a debut at #82 on the Billboard Hot 100 today. This is a good sign and the lyric video has over 4 million streams. Let us all join forces to get this song to number 1. Mariah taught us that nothing is impossible so let's make it happen. What we need to do is to stream the lyric video every day several times a day. When I'm in the office and not busy, then I put my mobile on silent mode and stream the lyric video. You must refresh the page every time you stream. Do not press replay after the video is finished because it will not count as an additional stream. This will help the song chart to a higher position and every stream counts. If you can also request the radio stations to play the song then that too will help. If you guys are going to join me do this then please give this post a thumbs up so that I will know how many lambs are in this project.

Haha oops, I already wrote about it before I read your message. By the way which pink dress were you talking about? The hideous Alaia number or the other pink and silver (undergarments flashing number)?

Yes of course I think you are a sweetheart. Just because you didn't like a particular song doesn't suddenly turn you into a hater. Like I said, I respect people more when they can weigh in on the good and bad and it was inevitable that people will be divided in their opinions every time Mariah releases a new song. Just because majority love it doesn't make you a bad person for not liking it. I know you will still have faith in her and you will still try and support her. That's what we lambs do.

Really? (53,052)
by Connor Bethune from United States
| |
|
|
Does no one remember Tokyo? She started out awful in Japan last year and improved exponentially until the last date in Brisbane, and even better at the Beacon Shows. The disappointed "lambs" will eat their words in the next few shows. Seth M said it perfectly, there are too many wolves in sheep's clothing. No other fan base is as negative as Mariah's. I laughed too hard at the "I could sing Vision Of Love better than she could" comment. Mariah will get better, the rudeness needs to stop.

Two complaints though (53,051)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I have two complaints about the show as of now and I think these are very much under Mariah's control so she can make necessary changes. 1) Mariah, honey, lose that Azzedine Alaia dress right this instant. Take it out, and use it to ignite a bon fire if you will. The dress is bad, I mean really bad. What is that collar and that hideous fringe-like what have you at the bottom? No just no, this has to go. Mr. Alaia, what were you thinking? 2) The video dahlin', give me the darn video (ok so this isn't show related per se). But please this time more movements. I saw the preview of the video and yes you look gorgeous, but I only saw you sitting and running towards the camera. I'll admit both shots were gorgeous and I loved the light effect they did when you were running so that it looks like her hair is glowing, but there has to be more. A storyline. You and Brett can make magic happen so please .

Vegas drama (53,049)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

|
If anyone says anything bad about the Vegas performance, I rebuke it. Haha, no really, I think she put up a great show. Look this show is not for her core lambs only. Many people will be attending the show, some of them may not even know all her 18 #1's and some heard about how she is labelled the songbird supreme and heard her uber popular songs and so they want to witness her magical voice in person. My point is talking about lip-syncing here is pretty pointless, because this show's focus really is to show the "perfect" Mariah to re-introduce her to the world, to the GP. For that they have to ensure that no stones are left unturned when it comes to her putting up a stellar show that will keep people talking. This is Vegas, not a generic Mariah Carey concert. Everything has to be perfect, and since MC's voice is quite unpredictable (because of its fragility) they have to have back up. She can't afford flaws in such a show because people will tear her apart, the GP won't just be fine with MC changing up her songs to suit her current voice. They want the big voiced 90s Mariah. We as fans may want her to sing in her current capacity but GP will want to hear the songs the way they heard it on the radio. If anyone thinks she should sing all her 18 #1's (some of which are the hardest songs ever written) at a go and not lip sync at all, well you are setting up unrealistic expectations. Plus the girl is trying, give her a chance. The world is rejoicing her return, let us also take a moment and be thankful for all the masterpieces she has given us by putting her most valuable asset (her voice) at stake.

Those that are disappointed (53,045)
by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia

|

In the midst of disappointment, we have to realize Mariah has given us a catalogue of incrediable music and incrediable vocals that will last a lifetime. Her legacy won't ever be tainted in my eyes because she has already proven herself to me. Mariah isn't/wasn't just an ordinary good singer with an ordinary great voice; her voice was extremely extraordinary meaning the way she excuted songs are unparalleled and is all her. To top it off she worked herself into the ground 10 years straight (singing all over the world and recording album after album non stop). So attempting to sing all her number one hits 100% live and perfect night after night is like doing the "Vocal Olympics". Picture an athlete doing the Olympics after their prime and after sustaining many injures: that's our Mariah in Vegas. I know many singers have been fortunate enough to preserve their voice, but by the same token they don't have to complex voice or vocal situations Mariah has nor do they have the career Mariah had as well, so we can't really judge by comparing her to other singers in my opinion. Now I am against her lipping to the album versions of the song, but like I said before I don't blame her for prerecording her vocals personally, as long as she gives us moments like Thank God I Found You and show she still has it. At this point instead coming down on her (all the time) about her voice not being flawless and consistent, just be appreciative that she has given us her all musically and vocally throughout her career and she's still trying really hard to give us her best. Also consider that perhaps she has given us all that she can at this point. As far as I concerned if she lost her voice from singing her ass off and churning out great albums throughout her career while leaving behind an incredibility classic unforgettable catalogue of music, then I can't be too mad at her, she'll always have my respect.

I bought Infinity, I preordered #1 To Infinity, and Saturday I will be in Las Vegas attending the second night of her residency. I'll always support Mariah Carey. She is slaying. She isn't lipping. She never lost her voice, she lost her confidence. Big difference. She ditched Nick and IDJ and regain her confidence. She's a living legend and she deserves respect. I don't respect some of you opinions because your opinions are always the same: she looks horrible, she sounds horrible and she lipped the high notes, and her songs are horrible. Move on. How you can call yourselves fans let alone lambs is beyond me. Eat some Frito pie, darlings.

Just to explain my previous post. In the video from Good Morning America, Michael Strahan tells Mariah at some point about the supportive comments Nick made about "Infinity". Mariah replied "Oh, it's nice" but you have to hear it to actually experience the shade.

Opening night (53,040)

I said that using a pre recorded track in nearly all the whistle notes, and in each "bridge" or "difficult part" is cheating. I didn't say "Mariah is a cheater". Maybe it's not only her decision to use playback. The reason why she sounded yesterday exactly the same as in the snippets from the rehearsal of LTT, Someday, Hero etc. (especially Love Takes Time and Someday and their whistles) is because she recorded those vocals again this year, and she's using them for the Vegas residence. Good. Many people won't notice. Many others like me will do, I complain about the abuse of lipsynching, not even about lipsynching. So I have a personal issue. Thanks. We all do have our issues. Let's move on. What a wonderful version of TGIFY she did.

Mariah is "super mom" (53,039)
by Ardis Logic from Earth
| |
|
|
Mariah said "I feel like the most important thing is how the kids grow up. They're human beings and they have to be treated as such. They're sensitive and they're going to feel any kind of tension. So, for me, it's not about how I deal with anything. It's about how they're going to feel after the day is over and they're going to sleep at night, you know what I mean." That is so awesome. There are so many people that don't show that much care and concern for their kids. I think maybe it stems from her own childhood experiences, and she does not want those kids to grow up having the same negative experiences that she had. She is so inspiring. What an amazing woman she is on so many levels.

Hi Gary, welcome on this board, nice to have you here. Although you just posted here for the first time I already have to disagree with you. I don't think it's Mariah who has to accept that her voice is not as strong as it once was, I think it's the fans who have to do just that. I think Mariah is fully aware, see where she came from (Japan, Rockefeller or Jamaica) and see what she has delivered yesterday. I believe she has worked very hard not to give her fans another disappointment and she has satisfied most of us (including me) and most of the critics. I think partly lipsyncing and some pretaping is just part of this game, not only Mariah does it but Celine, Shania, Rihanna, Beyonce or Katy (to name a few) do exactly the same thing. I'd say for some of us it's time to just accept this, loosen up and try a bit more to enjoy what Mariah is giving us these days.

Wolves in sheep clothing (53,035)
by Seth M from South Africa

I sometimes believe that there are people on this board who come here pretending to be lambs. A true fan will never judge MC. Some of you are making suggestions as if you are music critics and trained professionals. If you have such suggestions, then go and record your own album and see if you can attain even half the success that MC has. Just give her a break please. Baby1989 has the audacity to say that she is cheating. Obviously, you don't realize the stress that she will encounter if she sings all the songs live. I said let Jamaica go. The rest of the world has moved on but it seems that you are stuck in the past languishing in negativity. Live in the present and the real music critics have given very positive reviews for her Vegas performance. You are not a music journalists so take your negative comments and shove it. There is also an idot who said that the show looks like a circus. Obviously this person does not know what a class act entails and what Vegas performance standards are. Visually, this has been her best production and the joke is on the clown who thinks that it looks like a circus. Stop criticizing and just enjoy her current success. If you think that she cannot sing anymore then go be a J.Lo fan and leave Mariah alone. You cannot expect someone who put out albums year after year and who use her voice to sing for 25 years to sound exactly the same now. At least she is still recording and performing as an artist unlike others.

Did I disrespect you? Did I disrespect Mariah? Then why do you insult me by saying I have mental problems? You clearly didn't read well my post. Tell me when did I use the word "hate" or when did I say I didn't like anything Mariah does. By the way no one's saying Mariah should sound like back in the 90's, if people complain is because they want something real and I complain about the lipsynching abuse. [Webmaster: Yes, you did disrepect Mariah, you called her a cheater. If that isn't clear to you, than indeed you have some personal issues.]

Was sat at the front for opening night... haters leave (53,030)
by John john from UK

I'm not bothering to read most reviews or comments on here today. This is because rather than sit and listen to recordings or snippets on YouTube, I got my arse down to Vegas to support Mariah. I travelled from the UK. I can tell you that 95% of the show was live. She sounded amazing. The audience was loving it. Everyone left with a smile and how much they'd enjoyed the show. The stage was beautiful and Mariah looked great. I am glad she hasn't been pressured to really slim down. She's not in her 30's anymore and has 2 kids. She looked great. Best costume was the Honey segment. It was pretty funny too, to see her come out on a jet ski. Vocally I think Mariah was spot on. She really tried and you could see her absorbing the band and taking her time with it. Hero was an especially awesome moment. I will give a better review when I'm back next week (to whom may care) but until then I have to get married here and 2 more Mariah shows to go.
