New publicist reported by E News (51,501) by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA
According to E News Mariah Carey is now being represented by The Chamber Group. This group is run by Chris Chambers. Here is an excerpt from a news article about one of the benefits of being represented by this firm: "Many of TCG's initial clients have benefited from joining Chris Chambers' signature hands-on approach to public relations and branding, most recently in his capacity as Senior Vice President of Publicity & Artist Development at Sony BMG Music Entertainment."

Infinity? New single name? (51,500) by LC from USA
A couple weeks ago, I saw an ATRL post of someone who said that according to a label executive, Mariah's new single would be an uptempo track named Infinity, and it would be released on April 27. Just a few moments ago, Mariah posted a picture on all her social media accounts of her with LA Reid and a person from her new PR team "The Chamber Group" next to a Sony sign, captioned #WeBelongTogether #Infinity. Could this mean that that person was telling the truth? Or is it just a coincidence? Whatever it is, I'm getting excited. I can't wait for this era to kick start.

Promo (51,498) by B from USA
Mariah is on the cover of Vegas Player Magazine and she made the announcement on Ellen. I think the plan is to promote the residency and new single/video simultaneously. Makes sense since the single will be used to promote the reissue of #1's. It is also a great way to get Mariah's name back in the public gnat like attention span. Likely ticket sales are ahead of projections/predictions and M and Caesars are waiting until this single drops to start the blitz.

Nostagia (51,497) by Otti from Belgium
My older brother was a fan of "Music box" since "Without you" was huge in Europe, along with "Dreamlover", "Hero" and "I'll be there" and later "Endless love". While I didn't pay that much attention to Mariah Carey, I thought she was another great vocalist along with Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, who had also big hits at the same time with "Whitout you". But the "Daydream" era, I don't know how, but did slip away. But then summer of 1997, I was at my cousin's house, watching MTV, when a video start with a girl captured at a chair, in a big mansion. We were really surprised that that girl was Mariah Carey, who we know from clips like "Without you" and "Hero". The video and song were verry sexy. From then on, I start to pay more attention to her work, with more releases from "Butterfly" like "The roof" and "My all". I thought this singer is brilliant and knows how to stay relevant. A year later I bought "Butterfly" and later that year "Number ones", which made me a fan for life. "Someday" and "Love takes time" become my favorites of her older number ones. "I still believe" which I thought was an older number one of her, until I saw the video, becoming one of her best video's ever.

Cindi’s departure (51,496) by 123 from USA
I think this is a good thing. Power publicist or not, the spin on the Glitter era wasn't the greatest and she even contributed to the crazy talk when she snatched the mike out of Mariah's hand when she was rambling. I believe Cindi and Mariah temporarily parted ways after Charmbracelet and didn't have anything to do with TEOM. Cindi is known as a power b#@$% and gets the job done. She is very direct and abrasive which can come off as quite, you know like in the clip. When Mariah was on the Rosie O'Donnell show promoting ISB she suggested she'd comeback to do a show on beauty since she had 500 hours of beauty school and Rosie said, yeah right, if I call Cindi to book Mariah on she's going to say "No, Mariah Carey is a big star" and hang up the phone. Cindi was Rosie's publicist at the time. Plus it would be nice for someone new to come in with new ideas who hopefully will not become a "yes" person. I know the job of the publicist is to protect and spin negative press and create positive press, but like the clip shows, sometimes it puts the client in a negative light. No wonder they say Mariah is a diva, her people around make her appear that way.

Butterfly live performances (51,495) by Rón from United Kingdom
I really think that after Vegas and the #1s album that Mariah should do something similar to Whitney and release a live album with some of her best live performances, I mean she has many that she could choose. She would also have to add some new live performances like the MTV Unplugged album. I really think it is a massive shame that we have hardly any official live music. I love her raspy voice during the Butterfly era and I wish I could hear it in very clear quality.

"Vision of Love" Jamaica (51,494) by Jon from Netherlands
As painful as it is to see that performance it has great ad-libs and it's a great rendition when she's doesn't go off on a tangent. Her voice was great. Her attitude was all wrong. That part when she sings in a crazy way and says "I'm just kidding" is enough to make me wanna go back in time, go to Jamaica, pay for the ticket, slap her and ask for the money back.

The First Vision (51,493) by Jon from Netherlands
VOL has become my favorite song. It's been an addiction of late actually. It's interesting how an 18 years old girl writes a song like this and it's also curious that regardless of an extensive sucessful and acclaimed catalogue the first song is the best (or one of the best depending on who you ask). Also interesting that I don't feel like she ever gave a good VOL performance in the first years. It's as though she was holding back. 96 has great performances of course. Later on as well but I believe it's a song way ahead of the artist and one that the artist needs to grow into. The same way people talk about Halleluyah and Leonard Cohen. VOL is a song from someone with great life experience and Mariah has yet to give her most heartfelt rendition of this timeless song. I hope to be there to see it when she does.

"Vision of Love" Jamaica (51,492) by Billy from Greece
I just love the way she sings the bridge in the Jamaica concert, especially the part "and I visualized the love that came to be". Brilliant.

Instagram / promotions (51,491) by Ethan from United States
The promotions will kick in soon, probably in mid-April. The band has been rehearsing since the beginning of April without Mariah. There are some pictures of band members rehearsing in Vegas already (check @six7music and use #1sMariah or #MariahCarey). I've seen one picture of dancers auditioning for Mariah Carey residency. I understand that people are concerned about this since it can make or break her future career. It's a residency and not a live concert so everything will be meticulously planned. It's a business and remember Caesars Palace wants to profit this as well. Of course, Mariah doesn't want anymore bad press, especially she will have an album and movie/soundtrack coming out. Yes there will be some lipsynching but that apeopleies to almost every production I believe. Behind the scenes, I think people have been building props and working with lighting and everything will be rehearsing at the last two weeks of April I assume. They just need to hire top-level people to make everything work.

Bill / Cindi (51,490) by LC from USA
I see where you're coming from, Bill. I guess I never looked at it that way. But, I think what I really wanted to say was that Cindi's way of representing Mariah to the public and the media might be dated. Like, in comparison to RocNation for example. You never see really negative wildfire stories spread about Rihanna or Beyoncé, but when they do, RocNation is quick to calm it down or stop the spread because they are newer and can battle social media. But, I guess the remedying would more the job of a manager. Thank you for telling me that. Also, I hope people don't think I'm bashing Cindi or anything, I'm not. I guess I'm just happy with the changes because it proves that Mariah definitely wants to succeed. She saw that Island Def Jam wasn't doing anything for her, she saw that Randy and JD were not compatible with her as managers, and maybe she saw that Cindi wasn't compatible as well. At least now we know that she is trying. That's all we can ask for.

Cindi Berger (51,489) by Marissa from USA
I actually see the Cindi and Mariah breakup as a good thing. Mariah is known for keeping people around her just because she's known them for a long time even if they haven't contributed any substantial value to her career in years. Maybe she's recognizing that she needs people that are actually going to work and she'll get a new team. I'm hoping for the best.

So harsh toward people that works for/with Mariah (51,488) by TJ from Norway
Some people here are so quick to attack people that part ways with Mariah. JD was under an attack when he and MC split, and now Cindi. "They don't do that and this."

Adam (51,487) by Abraham from USA
Your posts never seem to disappoint me. "Mariah not only doesn't care for her own career anymore"? Have you not been keeping up with what's happened this year? Mariah went back with Sony, which is not only grear but a big turn around. And is working with a man who's directed some of her best music videos. You're bothered because she let go a publiicist who's done absolutely nothing for her. I think the opposite and say the changes that have happened tell me that Mariah does in fact about her career. Get real Adam.

LC (51,485) by B from USA
I agree Cindi Berger is past her prime as are other "power publicist" that came to prominence before social media became the dominant form of promotion. Mariah needs a social media wiz to handle her public relations. A live stripped down performance of one of her signature songs with the key lowered, to make it easier for her to sing the hell out of it, would be the best promo possible for Vegas.

What on earth are you talking about? Alienating JD? Where did that come from and what evidence do you have of that?

LC / Cindi (51,483) by Bill from the UK
With respect to your post LC, Cindi is one of the top publicists in the industry and as the CEO of the largest publicity company in the world, she clearly knows her business. What you say about Mariah's bad moments spreading like wild fire on social media is true, but all a publicist can do in that situation is issue some kind of statement, or advise Mariah to, if appropriate. What you say about remedying the situation with interviews etc. is more the job of a manager. If my memory serves me correctly, Mariah ditched Cindi after Glitter and then teamed up with LA for a great comeback. It looks like the same sequence of events again.

Bye bye Berger (51,482) by Kyle from USA
This parting is awesome news. This shows that Epic Records has gotten through Mariah's head and convinced her change is needed if she wants to stage a huge "comeback". I'm sure this was a mutual decision. 15 years is a long time. Mariah is refreshing herself, her career and her image and I say bravo. I saw on Twitter a stage designer for her residency released a hand sketch of part of the stage. There are so many things going on behind the scenes with Las Vegas, Epic Records, new video and single that we have no idea about. Promotion will start picking up very soon and I'm thinking this might be the "secret release" single she was wanting to do with MIAM. The single will drop, she'll bang out a few performances (live) before Las Vegas starts and we will see where it leads from there. Our girl is smart. She is very business savvy and willing to do what it takes to stay relevant. As many of her past and present producers have publicly stated, "Mariah is the hardest working person in the business."

Cindi Berger (51,481) by LC from USA
I honestly don't see this parting of ways as a bad thing. Let's face it. Mariah's image right now is the worst it's been since Glitter. She needs someone to come in an help her clean her image up. So far, Cindi has done nothing notable. And maybe it's because her methods are dated. She has been with Mariah for 15 years, but that was way before the social media age. Social media is the number one place for people to spread news. And, in my opinion, Mariah needs someone who is young and knows how to fight that social media backlash. As a young person who is always on social media, when Mariah's Rockefeller performance came out, I saw how quickly that spread. It went viral on YouTube, on Vine, was a trend of Facebook, was all over the social media accounts of every major news publication, and it spread all over the world. And outside of that, every performance is "Did she lip that? Was that live?" Or "she can't sing like the '90s anymore", every picture is "she is so photoshopped" or "she looks fat", every song is "she can't sing this live" or "this is studio manipulation". You'd think that a great publicist would be able to remedy that situation. Maybe with a few performances or interviews or something. But, nothing happened. So, let's hope that this move is actually helpful to Mariah and her career. I'm not saying that it is an amazing move because that's up to Mariah in the end, but, I know that she knows what she's doing. Go MC.

Cindi (51,480) by B from USA
Honestly, I think this parting is for the best. Cindi might have helped Mariah during Charmbracelet but Medina and Reid were responsible for helping turn Mariah's image around. Cindi hasn't been doing Mariah any favors. I think these moves are being calculated and are part of a bigger plan that is being worked out behind the scenes. Cindi was never able to make Mariah relatable or humble because she has an ego herself.

Cindi Berger, adios (51,479) by ADAM from USA
I think the fact that Cindi Berger her longtime publicist has dropped her as a client is very telling and not good. Cindi navigated MC's career from Glitter through Charmbraclet up until today. I am honestly very surprised by this. I think her severing ties shows that Marish not only doesn't care about her career anymore but also is fine with trimming another long lost confidant and friend. You can add her name right behind JD's to people Mariah continues to alienate. I think MC is so far gone in her own head that only she believes her own hype and her payroll of yes people from B. Scott to Rachel to Debbie Allen.

Mara / Mimi L. (51,477) by Abraham from USA
I agree, I'm really hoping Mariah will pull it off. Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Mariah been everywhere but Vegas? It seems like she's been in California the majority of the time. Honestly all I can do is hope for the best. I don't think if Vegas turns out to be a disaster it will end Mariah's career. It will just be another bad ordeal she will have to her name. And another thing people will bash her for. If she performs as she did at the Beacon, Vegas will be a success. It's just hard to believe she will be singing her old songs. Especially one like "Anytime you need a friend". Mimi L. I agree with you as well. And I liked your idea. I was also asking "Where's the music"? I too thought a single would be out by now. Am I the only one who feels like music is dead as of now? I mean no one's hot at the moment. Madonna dropped her new album and it seems like it flopped.

Shelly (51,476) by Abraham from USA
Thanks for responding Shelly. I'm really glad you're posting again. I love your posts. But I think you're right, by now there would have more promo. I'm just kind of surprised. Mariah has been in hiding since her "Ellen" appearance. I was expecting to see her anywhere promoting. I definitely hope to see her promoting for the new number 1's album. The radio call in from her and Brett has me excited. As well as the Christmas movie she will be doing.
