The Elusive Chanteuse Show (46,697) by Carlos Belizário from Brazil
As the tour approaches, I'm wondering if the beloved webmaster will post the reviews of the concerts. Since Mariah is visiting Asia I'm guessing there will be some serious translations going on. Is there a plan?

Mariah on tour / Thirsty / Cry (46,696) by Stacey from USA
I am glad MC is going on tour. Being with her fans always seems to do her good, especially now. Plus, she always writes the best songs during tours too (ala TEOM during the CB tour). I also think it helps MC maintain a positive image, allows her to control the conversation out and about in public. At some point she'll have to talk about the divorce, but not right now. A better time would be when everything has been finalized and all parties have moved on. I loved MIAM from first listen. After news of the separation broke, I started listening to the album more closely, paying particular attention to the lyrics. Oh my gosh people, I can't understand how this album is not about Nick. His name is all over it. Even before we knew what was going on with MC and Nick, my first thought upon hearing Thirsty was it was about Nick, especially after hearing Faded. "You're not here for me" from Faded flows right into "thirsting for celebrity". Just makes sense, to me anways. We all know music is MC's therapy to deal with tough situations. This album screams Mariah's time on the couch. Yet instead of talking to a psychiatrist, she sings. And we get to enjoy amazing songs. My latest jam is Cry. Wow. It's taken me months to really grasp the depth of the song, but it's a favorite now.

Slow jams (46,695) by Darryle from USA
Throughout Mariah's career she's done so many different types of songs. From pop to hip hop to rock even. But one of my favorite types that she's done are slow jams. She only has a few but the few she does have always end up being the gems of the album so it evens out. There's Yours, the funkier more upbeat All My Life, Candy Bling, Bliss which I consider to be the best song off Rainbow, then the smooth and sensual Babydoll, and of course the one that started it all, Underneath The Stars. The best cut off of Daydream besides Looking In. I hope she puts a slow jam on her next album. Slow jams are really good songs to use her whisper voice and pull out the whistle.

Thirsty (46,694) by Kyle from USA
I think Thirsty is about Eminem and Nick. Knowing the genius of Mariah Carey, she probably wrote the song about Eminem and then pulled it out from the archives and re wrote the second verse about Nick. "So you stuntin' on your Instagram" is definately about Nick. Instagram wasn't around during the MiMi-Em phase. Mariah has stated that Thirsty was written "a long time ago". I think what we hear on the album is revamped version of the original with Rich Homie Quan and a new verse. She is a brilliant writer so why not kill two birds with one stone.

Loving MC new pics (46,693) by May from Denmark
She is looking so beautiful, it's nice to see she put down the fake eye lashes. I always enjoy her candid pictures and the captions on this new batch were super cute. It's so refreshing to see her rehearsing and working again, hopefully she will give us a small tease through a clip. Shame the tour isn't bigger and won't cover any single country in Europe, I had my hopes really high until the last moment haha. I can't wait to hear the new songs, she is obviously very inspired. Just a couple of days ago I was watching an interview for her Memoirs album and she mentioned how for a long time she was so uninspired, nothing came out and she felt completely uninterested and then "bam" she got up a day and everything started coming down. Maybe she is having one of those "moments" again. I'm really happy for her.

About Thirsty, Bill (46,692) by May from Denmark
There are a lot of "hints" in that song that in my opinion, I agree with some posters below, it does talk about Nick. The "even change your name now" must refer to the way Nick calls himself and reminds others about it, and probably because he has it as a trademark for a couple of his projects, it's the name "Ncredible" and sometimes going by "The Ncredible". We have seen him plenty of times wearing the symbol of the nickname. Then you have the part where she mentions "Pull down them Tom Fords", Nick is a big fan of Tom Fords and he owns a pair of sneakers of the same brand with diamonds encrusted for the value of almost a million dollar, then "That Hollywood sign Calling you again", while still doing Wild and Out, Real Husbands of Hollywood, he also accepted to do AGT (plus all the other promotional stuff like his headphones), "So you stunting on your Instagram" is the other part of the lyrics and where is Nick Instagram now at days, it's been gone since months. Then the whole rapping part can also be taken in consideration but I think the whole song is pretty obvious.

Bill (46,691) by Darryle from USA
You are correct. Everything Fades Away was included on the Hero single. That's how I got my copy of the song. Thanks for the reply to my post. I'm not a writer though just incredibly passionate about Butterfly getting the credit it deserves. Even though it sold 5 million I feel people tend to sleep on it because it wasn't as strong as it's predecessor Daydream. They are right though, it's not as strong as Daydream, it's stronger.

Never Forget You (radio edit and extended mix by JD) (46,690) by Eternal from Italy
I wonder if I'm the last person on earth to know this, but I'll say it anyway. I've always thought that the radio edit and extended mix of Never Forget You were just variations of the version on the album, but boy, was I wrong. They are actually remixes by JD, with a quiet storm R&B beat rather than the schmaltzy original. That's not saying I don't appreciate the original version, but after I heard JD's remix, I'm totally blown away. The song sounds more genuine and intimate somehow. I think if Mariah could have had more control over her career back then, she would have chosen the JD remix as the album version, just like she would have chosen the ODB remix of Fantasy as the standard album version rather than a remix. Anyway, just to let you guys know in case you were still out of the loop like me.

Darryle (46,689) by Bill from the UK
Darryle, that was a brilliant description of Butterfly, you summed it up so well. Are you a writer? You have a great way with words. As for Everything Fades Away - wow, what a song. One of the best compositions she has ever done in my opinion. To me, being in the UK, it was on the "standard edition", and looking at this site's discography, it was on more versions of the album than it wasn't, if that makes sense. So rather than a bonus track, it's a minus track for the poor US fans lol. But they got it on the Hero single I think.

Songs (46,688) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I agree with Bill, Thirsty is definitely not about Nick. It might sound that way but Thirsty was not written this year. By the way a person who did change his name is Eminem. But if it was about him the other lines don't make sense because he is pretty popular and he doesn't wear Tom Fords. Some one posted that they think Mariah changed up a lot of the songs when she pushed back the album this year to include her feelings about the current situation. However Mariah stated clearly that she only added 3 songs. One is definitely Money (two dead giveaways about this is the fact that the song starts with "I can't leave it like this" and second she posted a picture with Fabolous during the time she supposedly recorded the 3 new songs). I don't understand why people think Money is about Nick. It's not a diss record, it's a song where the protagonist sings Money and all doesn't matter because at the end of the day she goes back to her love. Another new song might be Camouflage. This song sounds way to personal and heart wrenching for it to be anything but true feelings coming from Mariah. I am sure this is about Nick and their failing marriage. Faded is about Nick too but not necessarily about the divorce. She recorded it quite a while back and I think it was more about her feeling alone and abandoned by Nick since he was away working so much and she was alone with the kids.

Thirsty (46,687) by Bill from the UK
I never thought this was about Nick. Faded and Camouflage yes, but not Thirsty. When that was written they were, for all we know, still happy, and I doubt she would slam her husband and father of her children in such a way. An ex she doesn't give two hoots about, yes, but not Nick. She has way more class than that. Nick also said it was his favourite song, plus he's never "changed his name" like the lyrics suggest.

The Elusive Chanteuse Show (46,686) by Isabelle from USA
I been listening to some live performances from Music Box tour, Daydream tour, Butterfly tour, TAOM tour and the Australian tour. And I feel like Mariah needs to get some new arrangements for some of her earlier work for this upcoming tour. Hearing Mariah struggle a bit in her Heartbreaker medley during the TAOM was worrisome. I think she needs to find the right arrangements for songs that would be suitable for her to perform live. She needs to let her backup singers do what they are hired to do. She tries to sing every run in her songs. Her trying to perform the more up-tempo versions of Heartbreaker or Fantasy would be too much for her to do during the tour. I see her best doing the Heartbreaker/Love Hangover/Junior Mix medley would be great for her to perform because it's not that fast paced. Also doing new instrumental arrangements would be great as well. Have you all listened to the LBCK remix of Emotions? It makes it feel brand new but it has the stays true to the original. The arrangement she gave Shake It Off in 2012 was great, she needs to do something new for WBT, every performance she has given for that song has been the same, the beginning reminds me of Patti's Love, Need and Want You everytime I listen to it.

Wow (46,685) by Abraham from USA
Mariah is looking great. She's lost weight and is getting her sexy figure back. And I like that hair style. She looks really happy and seems to be doing okay, I'm glad. I hope everything goes well with the tour. I'm really hoping she releases a new album next year.

Deanna (46,684) by 123 from USA
I've never had someone write such a long and ridiculous response so I don't know whether to feel sorry that you have too much time in your hands or check to see if you are peeking through my windows. I love how you refute what I didn't say. You quoted me well but your reading comprehension needs work. I said "Mariah said Thirsty was not about Nick." I didn't say Faded wasn't about him. Re-read the sentence, because you could have saved some characters and met the 1500 character requirement. I never said I thought Camouflage was about her father, I said a lot of fans did. I wanted to post that here to see what other fans did. You then go back to Thirsty being about Nick and the two female writers intentions. I will refer you back to my first quote about what Mariah said. Mariah, you know, the artist that co-wrote the song. I'ma go with what she said. I though JD had said in an interview that he wanted Mariah to come out with the Wale record last year but she didn't. Wale did tweet he was on the track last year and insinuated that it was coming out. The Andy Warhol quote at the beginning of Meteorite says it all, if you can't recognize shade when its thrown by the queen of shade, I can't know even know what to say to you.

MCIIY is sublime (46,683) by enwar00 from usa
I really needed to unwind and destress after work today, so it worked out perfectly that I had found and bought Merry Christmas II You a couple months back from a record store and still had it in the car. Needless to say it's doing the trick. I feel something extra magical in her voice on these songs that is both chill and tear inducing. I am moved and I don't care that it's still summer.

MIAMTEC (46,682) by B from USA
The lyrics to Thirsty, Camouflage, and Faded are clearly about Nick. Saying Camouflage is about Mariah's dad is insane. It's about the end of a relationship. She questions whether or not he ever loved her and if he still does. It doesn't matter if she wrote these songs this year or four years ago.

Mariah looking after Nick (46,681) by Ken from USA
I'm loving how much of mess Nick is looking at the moment vs how great MC looks. I still cannot believe how disrespectful he was to Mariah. She was by his side when he was in hospital, the fact that he would still say what he did about other women really shows how much he doesn't think about her. I do hope the marriage can be repaired though.

Jazz ballads (46,679) by Martyn from England, UK
I've noticed a lot of people saying they'd love to hear Mariah do a jazz album, and I completely agree. Her voice is perfect for jazz (The Wind, Christmas Time Is In The Air Again). Margaret Whiting did an incredible cover of "Time After Time", I'd love to hear Mariah sing this.

Butterfly (46,678) by Darryle from USA
I was listening to Butterfly again recently and this album just has to be Mariah's best album. I know some people say Daydream because that's when her writing really became personal and the hip hop roots were shaping up to be what they are today. But Butterfly is when it was peaked her writing was it best and most personal and the hip hop was smooth and she didn't feel the need for so many rappers. This album is so cohesive and all the tracks mesh together so well. Her voice flows like honey on every track. It got some of Mariah's best songs like the infectious jam Honey, the uplifting Butterfly, the Latin lover track My All, the moody and dark The Roof, the smooth jazzy The 4th of July, the neglected yet relatable Breakdown, and of course my favorite and what I consider to be the best, the lyrically astounding vocally amazing life saving Outside. This album isn't something you listen to its something you feel. you don't have to think who did she write this about because the songs are so relatable that you can place yourself in every song.

Everything Fades Away (46,677) by Darryle from USA
This song should have been on the standard edition of Music Box. It's a really beautiful song. This is one of the songs where Mariah lets the background singers play a major role in the song. They pretty much make this one. I love the part where the male background singers come in and they sing in a low pitch but Mariah sings in a higher pitch and their voices overlap. This and Sing Away have to be my favorite rare/unreleased songs by her.

Mariah lyrics with double meanings (46,675) by Manny from U.S.
I don't know if anyone has noticed Mariah writing certain lyrics with double meanings. For Example, Crybaby is the name of the song but for the lyrics she uses it as a verb "I still cry baby". In "More than friends", she sings "M-I-M-I okay". But you can also think of it as "Am I, Am I okay?" On the song "Dedicated" the rapper sings "Carry like Mariah" or it can be "Carey like Mariah". On "Meteorite", she sings Meteor-ite, ite, ite. But it can also be seen as she sang Meteor-ite, aight aight aight (the shortening of alright). I was just wondering if anyone else notices this.

My last request for MC's career (46,674) by Gilles from Malta
I've loved MC for years now and I think there's one thing missing to her repertoire. She should make a symphonic live concert in the same vibe as MTV Unplugged and to record it as a DVD and a music record. It would be heavenly.

Thirsty (46,673) by Gerald from USA by the way of NYC
Thirsty written by M. Carey, C. Hollis, D. Andrews, M. Tatum (MC's background singer). I know with the problems going on with the Cannons personal life everyone's speculating about certain songs but honestly why can't we just enjoy the music and leave all the other stuff between Mariah and Nick. I am sure when Mariah wants us to know someone regarding her marriage and personal life she will let us know.

Ariana "Too Close" (46,670) by Bill from the UK
Out of curiosity I listened to that song after your post QHM. The only similarity is the line "I've been thinking about you", which is the same melodically as Mariah's song, though the rest of the track was completely unlike our old Music Box fave. It could have just been a melodic "nod" to another song out of respect, like Mariah did on WBT. I've avoided Ariana, like I do most new artists, so it was interesting to hear the "new Mariah" if you will. Maybe my hearing is wearing out in my old age, but I couldn't understand a single word that girl said. Her enunciation and diction is actually terrible. She delivers in a pleasant tone though, so I get why she has a lot of fans.
