Thirsty review (43,608) by Gilles from Malta I love it because I have always been in the hip hop and R&B music. Regarding the choice of the single, do you really think that Mariah had the choice lol? She didn't stop fighting with Island Def Jam. Regarding Thirsty, it is like the music label named Strange Music and Tech9 ( the best actual hip hop music label of our erea). People who are not into real hiphop and independant label can not understand. Thirsty is made to have an impact for everyone and to promote her to the world to make money. People who love MC for her ballads had You're Mine. People who love Mariah classic had The Art Of Letting Go. People who like pop had Beautiful. Regarding Triumphant, it is funny because people who do not really like MC love it lol. I just want to say that we are extremely lucky that Mariah is a talented artist and that she is able to offer to everybody a different type of music. Do not be selfish, that album is for everyone. Mixed reviews (43,604) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands I've been reading reviews of Mariah's new single Thirsty on this messageboard and other websites, and it is clear that this song generates mixed reviews. Some love it, some hate it and some don't care. There's nothing wrong with this, not everyone has the same taste in music. What bothers me are the fans who say Mariah has lost it, that she can't make quality music, that all her songs suck. Well, that's just your opinion. I'm well aware that Mariah these days sell less albums. Is this because of the quality of her songs? I don't think so, I think it is because Mariah has evolved to a different genre that less people like. Some of the best songs (according to me) of other artists were big flops, but I still adore these songs. What I'm trying to say, just because you don't like some songs doesn't mean the artist isn't talented. I don't like country, metal, hard rock, jazz, etc, but that doesn't mean I think these artists are less talented than others. I Am Mariah era. It couldn't be more accurate. Isn't Mariah always thirsty for some champagne whenever she shows up for an interview these days? The song title is actually kinda funny. Like a self mockery in a way. I woke up this morning singing "uh I'm thirsty, uh I'm hungry". The video possibilities are endless with a song title like that. Great single (43,602) by S from England Is there something wrong with lambs? They want an up-tempo radio/club friendly song. Oh no, now they want a ballad. Oh now they want a jazz themed song. Just stop. The song is great, it's a hit and it's nice and catchy. Some of you have a nerve to be comparing it to Triumphant. Just don't please. Great choice Mariah, and I know that with or without the support of the immediate lamb community, this song will definitely reach the top 20 if not higher. Good effort Mimi - 7.5/10. Oh why? (43,600) by George Golden from UK Oh why? This is her worst song ever. What is going on? Is this the same Mariah that sang Hero, Vison of love, Anytime you need a friend? What is she singing? She is getting worse. Please protect your legacy and stop this crap music. I listened to the song again today and all I could do was cringe. Truimphant was a million times better than this song. I guess with this new song people can now see why she added three songs from her last album, there's just no inspiration. Ever since 1997 when she started this hip hop thing it has just been downhill. I am already cringing thinking of what the video will be like. Judging from what I've heard thus far, I suspect Mariah is going to try to maintain a balance on this album, between classic ballads such as One More Try, mid-tempos like #Beautiful and the more hip hop infused numbers, such as Thirsty. Negativity (43,597) by Darryle from USA What's with all the hate for Thirsty. People are saying it's worse than Triumphant, it's not what they wanted, it's another hip hop beat etc. This song is nowhere near as bad as Triumphant. Mariah's vocals are stronger, the lyrics don't go from an uplifting rap verse to throwing money on strippers and have big cars. They stay consistent throughout the song. It is similar to N*ggas in Paris and it's not the best vocally but makes up for it in it's catchiness. It's got all the components of a first single which in reality it really is. It's catchy, the lyrics are good, has a summer vibe, and the gp will like it. I don't see how everyone can be dissapointed with it not being an uptempo. That's practically what the entire lambily has been asking for. Judging by the title and that Hit-Boy produced it I knew it would be an uptempo. As for the hip hop influences, they won't go away. They've always been apart of Mariah from the beginning. Jermaine even said he tries to get Mariah to do more ballads and less hip hop stuff but it's what she wants. Lastly I don't think it's been said here but to the goats saying it's not age appropriate. There's nothing wrong with this song. It's not like she's old. Look at Beyonce, 30 something, has a kid a few years younger than Mariah's and is making songs about giving head and no one says make songs age appropriate. Thirsty for a dream, filled with discontent (43,593) by Loris from Italy In the realm of her discography Thirsty is not an experimental track, but it definitely encapsulates many trademarks of a Mariah composition post-Butterfly, like Crybaby, Clown, Miss You, Shake It Off, Migrate, Obsessed. Lyrically, it is a reminescence of Clown and Obsessed and showcases the usual contents and language of a typical Mariah song, while sonically it reminds especially of Migrate, although the formula has been upgraded towards a more sensual vibe. The catatonic line "Oh, you’re thirsty" is the quintessential Mariah hotness. Plus, she is very funny when mentioning instagram (in 2008 it was a YouTube moment XD). The vocals are divinely roboticizated, but there's no mistaking Mariah Carey. In other words, with the exception of Triumphant (huge misstep), Mariah has released quite good r&b songs, with "#Beautiful" being her blissfully outstanding modern classic, "You're mine" and incredible nostalgic moment and "Thristy" simply her potential new number 1. On point (43,592) by Dani from USA I think "Thirsty" is on point. I actually thought it was going to be a song about Nicki Minaj, but I'm glad it wasn't. I am surprised that it's about a man, though. Someone mentioned that it might be about Mizza. That's an interesting theory. If it's about Nick, well then, I'm glad she's channeling her frustrations through her music. There's a conviction to her voice that we haven't heard since TEOM, and it makes her sound much more human (more relatable, I think). Some of you like raw ballads, and although this isn't a ballad, it's definitely raw. She seems to be wrapping her voice around the beat, which is something artists aren't doing these days. What she's doing with her voice is quite innovative, I feel. The layering, someone mentioned, different from her usual stuff, though I can't exactly pinpoint why. Whatever it is, it's definitely catchy. Someone's already mentioned that at the beginning, where we hear the pouring of the champagne, makes it clear that MC was painstakingly attentive to detail this time around (which also leaves me wondering why she had that lighter in the studio that one day). Even the ending, where the beat falls away and we just hear her voice is too good. It'll be a great album, on par with TEOM, rest assured. (Wednesday 14 May 2014; 9:38)

Thirsty (43,591) by Matthew from USA I'm not liking it. My favorite song on the album thus far is #Beautiful. From the opening guitar strings the melody kicks in and you just find yourself singing along. Uptempo or ballad, it doesn't matter to me, as long as the melody and the chorus are good. I guess Thirsty would be more in line with her hip-hop side, so the melody takes a backseat to the beat. And the chorus is a chanted "you're thirsty" repeated. I can't say this song makes me want to hit the dance floor, it doesn't make me smile, doesn't make me sad, doesn't make me nostalgic. It kind of just is. At least it sounds fresh. So that's a plus. Sometimes the stars align and you get a fantastic melody, good lyrics, a memorable chorus and solid vocals. It's happened once on this album already with #Beautiful. I'm a oldschool lamb since 1990 and with me a lot of others I know and I love all styles Mariah sings in, please don't label us just because we have been by Mariah's side since the beginning. I know some very young lambs that only like the older stuff and not really the newer stuff, so it has nothing to do with the age of the fan but more with their taste in sound. G.G. (43,586) by Sunshine Divalamb from Germany Totally disagree. Because we don't bash her doesn't mean we love and like everything Mariah does. There are songs I don't care for, but I still appreciate them because I know a lot of others will love them and I know she put her heart and soul in these songs, just because it's not my taste doesn't mean the songs are bad. Some of you are just waiting to say something negative and will do so with every little thing she does. There is a difference between sometimes giving your (negative) opinion and always complain about every little thing. The song isn't even out for 24 hours and I'm sure some didn't even give it a second listen before they threw it in the trash. By the saying "true fans" it's more about not having to bash Mariah, say she is over and done with or the album will flop just because you don't like a song or 2. What kind off fan says that not knowing how the rest of the songs are going to be? If you can't keep the negativity out for one single thing maybe some should reconsider finding another artist to like, because for some Mariah is clearly not doing it anymore, to read it as a fan since the beginning I must say it gets to a point that it's getting old. Cover of Thirsty (43,585) by tadatorao from japan First off, I like the cover of Thirsty. Its color scheme, the signature font, the layout. Yet the photoshopping really needs to be done better next time. Her left eye spans from the nose to the edge of her face. Her forehead looks two inches higher than usual. Don't even get me started on the left arm. I am not being picky but I can foresee that her album and single covers will be more and more android like. The natural Mariah is goodlooking enough. Lee / I've figured it out (43,584) by Marissa from USA I came back on here just to see what other people thought about the song and I came across Lee's post. When you said that it could have been sung by "anyone with vocal chords", it hit me. The main thing that bothers me about this song is that it has no Mariah "stamp" on it so to speak. 9 times out of 10 Mariah puts out music that only Mariah herself can pull off. (How many people do you know that can sing Emotions or go off the way she did at the end of Subtle Invitation?) This felt like she could have been doing a demo for someone else, not in terms of her singing quality but just the song in general. I can't even get mad at her for releasing this as a single (for me personally, it's easier to deal with a song that I don't like if it's an album cut rather than a single) because I'm sure it was something that her label forced her to do. On Letterman, she basically alluded to the fact that she didn't want to release another single so it's pretty obvious what happened. (Wednesday 14 May 2014; 6:39)

Thirsty. (43,583) by Paul from Usa I've given this song many listens. I'm still disappointed. I knew it from the first utter of the first line. I don't need to listen to it over and over again to know if I like it if not. What difference does it make if it's been out less than 24 hours? It's not being negative. It's being truthful. Why can't I give my opinion of this song without being stoned by you lamb fans? That's like eating around the hair on the plate of food that was served to you at a restaurant. I'm going to speak up and let you know something is wrong. The charts will tell the truth. Personally. I don't like the song, and it will be a song I exclude from any collection. What happened to this album being a "peaks and valleys" of her life? How many songs have to have a guest rapper on them? This album is starting to smell. So far we have been strung along, delayed and delayed for this? For a handful of new songs (because we've already heard 4-5 of them). Ultra photoshopped album art, from a photoshoot last year? Idk about you all but I feel the music is less about the fans, and more about what Mariah wants, and a paycheck. This song sounds dated, and way to much going on throughout it. Thirsty (43,582) by Jono from USA Love the feel of the new song. My only complaint would be that I don't care for the amount of vocal layering. Normally I love it since it's quintessential Mariah and only she can do, but with an uptempo fun song just her sole voice would have been enough. That being said, it's the second best song she's released (#Beautiful is still my favorite) from this album and while I'm not expecting it to be a surefire hit, I hope it gives her new album the buzz it deserves. I have a feeling the rest of the album is less radio mainstream, will be less hip-hop and more R&B. This was just to get her on the radio before the cd drops. (Wednesday 14 May 2014; 6:26)
