Non-official #Beautiful single disc (44,281)

Did any of you see this? I would love to have this. It looks so #Beautiful. I love the pictures he chose (yes they can be easily obtained from screenshots, but whatever). The boxing, the idea of placing the CD, everything looks so good. I want it.

Me I am Mariah is a musical masterpiece. I'm loving Dedicated, Make It Look Good, You Don't Know What To Do, and Meteorite. I've already expressed my love for #Beautiful, You're Mine, and Thirsty. Cry, Faded, Supernatural, and Camouflage are vocally driven standouts. She may want to part ways with IDJ but she didn't rush this record. She took her time and made the music she wanted to. I've been a fan since 1995(Daydream). I'm not forcing myself to like the new album, I love it.

Mariah 2014 (44,279)

I feel like Mariah gave us such a gift with this album, and frankly we were so close to thinking we would never get it. Remember how half the lambs thought it would be shelved? I can't help but think that after spending her whole life trying to appease others and find love through fame, Mariah is finally at a place where she has unconditional love. As we were living our lives she has been in a fishbowl and I think she is very happy with her music album and lambs and family, so she just can't be worked up over proving herself anymore. I was upset about this prior to the album but now it feels like she is just living more organically good for her, she is not going anywhere but we need to adjust.

Initial thoughts on MIAM (44,278)
by Stacey from USA

Bought the album Tuesday night and have had it playing non-stop in my house dealing with kids, etc. First off, let me just say it's nice to hear MC's full voice vocal. I know many fans love the whisper, but it's nice to hear all parts of her voice. In having the record playing while I chase my kids around the house, lol, I have to say the first song that stopped me in my tracks was Make It Look Good. Oh my, that song is my jam at the moment, and SW's harmonica solos? Pure gold. #Beautiful is great. I'll tell you though, it's kinda funny how this all works out, but YME is a favorite of mine on this album. When the song was released, I didn't hate it or love it. I was indifferent toward the song. But, for some reason, hearing it along with the rest of the song, it stands out as a favorite. You Don't Know What To Do is smash hit. Wale can still go, IMO. But, if he has to stay, I can live with it. Honestly, this song should have been released in February ahead of the album's release instead of YM(E). Heavenly is amazing, but too many chord changes at the end. It's almost like enough already. One or two at the end would have sufficed. Still listening to it and digesting it. Peace.

Album AD is not in the sales paper (44,277)
by Gilbert from USA

I just noticed (and at first I was bummed because I initially thought that the special edition from Target was only available online, because that what the site says, then I asked my brother who works there and he said he had them and at the time there were only a few left). So her CD is not announced in the AD and I checked BestBuy the same thing so what's up with that? But either way if you reflect back to my post my brother and the sales rep at BB was saying that the CD's were selling.

Better promotion (44,276)

I would read the messageboard and thought people were referring to the WMA as the NBC special. I didn't know she has a special on Saturday night on NBC until I did more research. I go to the TV guide online and it's called "Mariah Carey: At Home in Concert with Matt Lauer". This time I am irritated with the Mariah team. Get it together. If the fans are not getting all the info, imagine the other people? When did they mention the special? I only saw people here speaking of it and just refer to it as an NBC special.

Underestimated sales prediction (44,275)

How in the world they come up with these numbers? I didn't pre-order my album and none of my friends did either. But I just got the album and my friend did too. When I bought the album the person ringing me up didn't even know she had one coming out and asked me more about it, so I did tell her about it and that it's a amazing album. So Mariah's lambs plus people that don't know should make this go up if they advertise right.

Thanks for the messages (44,274)

Thanks to everyone who has replied to me. I'm glad that's how I come across as that's how I intend it. I genuinely do enjoy discussions and reading all kinds of opinions and reflections on Mariah's music and eras. Eternal, I'm glad I made you chuckle, I almost deleted it as I didn't want to come across too sarcastic but at that point I just couldn't help it. Some of my comments are meant in jest and good humour so I'm glad that's how they're perceived. Randy, I enjoyed our conversation. Sunshine, what a lovely message. Your messages do come across well to me. I think you're doing a fine job with English. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to try and convey your thoughts and feelings in a language that isn't your first so I think to come across as well as you do is great. And it's nice that we have a community of posters from all over the world. It's another thing that makes this website so great. So thanks as always to Eric for all the hard work in keeping up such a wonderful community.

Will there be a NBC special today? (44,271)

Today if I understood correctly is the day that Mariah was to have a special air, correct? Does anybody have info on this? Mariah said on the Today Show that she was saving" Thirsty" performance for the special. I understand that it may have been impacted by the awards show mishaps, any clue? This is what I have been waiting for in regards to publicity and just generally wanting to see myself.

I have to say that I feel so delighted with Mariah's new album. I think it is perfect although I feel some people don't think the same. The songs that I listen to the most are: Supernatural, Faded, You Don't Know and Cry, but I don't skip any song. She really knows how to make a good record. Pitty that sales are not going as good as they should, but one more thing I will say. I don't care. She has nothing to show to the world, she's the queen. Love and peace.

Hey guys, just wanting to see how everyone is enjoying the CD. Yes I know some hate it and some love it and really this isn't to make a big who-ha about that. I just wanted to know which tracks you've been listening to most. Mine of course as I've always said is Thirsty, but I'm sure loving Make it Look Good. Anyone know what Mariah is saying toward the end of Thirsty (I've googled lyrics, but haven't found the ad-libs added to the lyrics)? So far I've picked up "let see the stars on the boulevard" (I think) "that VIP you got what you see, up in the club you keeping on eyein' me".

First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone on the quality of this album. It really gave me a feeling that I didn't feel since TEOM album. Bravo. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that we now have several issues going on with regards to the promo and future success of the album. MC created a great product, so we now need to spread the word to make sure the general public connects with it and listens to it. All of a sudden things got silent after the WMA situation and headlines came up with regards to MC being late and now the broadcast was "postponed" in the US. Come on. We all know what that means. NBC will no longer play it any time soon. Unfortunately for MC and the album's performance, this was one of two prepared promos for the album. The general public now only has an NBC special on Saturday night to hear about the album. Big problem? Saturday nights are not the most watched evenings in US TV, especially in the summer time. Monte Carlo took two days to shoot and fly to, so we lost some time to promote the LP, the team needs to reassess the situation and kickstart some damage control promo now. We all saw the sales predictions, so that's obviously an eye opener that we have a situation in our hands. She's in NYC, why can't she perform the album at some of the talk shows? Take Coldplay for instance. They always have great sales, but last week they performed several times across NBC programs. That's the promo that you need these days to spread the word. MC seems to have a good relationship with NBC, then let's get her to some of these shows. Another concern is that the MC website still looks like a Memoirs site with no new information. How odd is that? 99.9% of official websites usually create hype for the album. The point is not to be negative, the point is to express my concern due to the fact that the product it excellent and this album needs to be heard. Let's make that happen. Fans can only do so much, but the rest depends on the artist and its team. The album won't be heard on its entirety if people don't know about it. Reviews can do so much, but it just concerns me that an artist of MC's caliber can't do the promo needed for a comeback. Her previous LPs were excellent in my eyes, but the public didn't fully connect with them, so this is a critical point that may affect her legacy. We are not complaining, we are looking for answers if you have a plan that will benefit this album. At this point we all know that she needs to go out there and perform songs. I see this marketing campaign so far as an effort to connect with fans through social media outlets, and that's great, but Q&A sessions can only do so much. The public needs to see her everywhere right now. We know you are capable, so please help us make this album the success that it deserves. "We all need to make this happen", but to her team: [...] I'm sure you understand our concerns. MC, don't give up. Thank you for a great album.

Get me off this label (44,266)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
A lot of people are saying that MC is not promoting the album and her singles because she doesn't care and just wants to get off the label. While it may be true that she wants to get out, but I don't believe that she doesn't care about her album bombing. Come on, we are talking about a woman who is terribly self conscious and is used to bragging about her #1 hits (I am not saying this negatively, it's just a fact), so it's hard for me to see why Mariah would just sit and allow her albums to bomb because at the end of the day, we may blame the record company for not doing it's work, but the GP and critics and chart positions will scream "the MC album flopped" not that the "Island album flopped". People are negative about Mariah as it is, would she really want to tarnish her legacy further by giving out an under performing album (despite the fact that she worked night in and night out to turn it into a masterpiece)? I don't know what's wrong, but I won't buy it that MC doesn't care what happens to the album.

Darryle / MC promo (44,265)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

I saw the Robert video and it was so cute. And I laughed out loud at the parts where he was singing TAOLG while running and the part where MC and Robert started talking about how dumb the record company is for not releasing some good singles. She looked like a kid complaining to her friend about a teacher that didn't give good marks lol. I know I have said this many times, but seriously where are the promos? Why isn't she scheduled on Ellen, Kimmel, Fallon and all the other interviews in the world? Why are there no more magazine articles? And where is the "lead" single. Yes yes I know #Beautiful is the official lead, but that was a year ago, and YME was downgraded to buzz single so that's gone too. So where is the single that will launch this album?

Has anyone see the Robert video yet? I saw it and it's hilarious and sweet all at the same time. Robert is the true definition of a devoted die hard lamb. This video really shows how much love Mariah has for us lambs. She signed photos and took pics and talked to him while he was running next to her car. If this was any other person they probably would have just shut the window and left but Mariah stayed and had a mini conversation. I hope Robert gets his Instagram follow. This video just made me like 1000 times more proud to be a lamb.

I've enjoyed reading your replies to Randy and Marcel. I think you're really articulate and you managed to put your point across without sounding offensive or defensive to anyone. Unfortunately to people who have already made up their minds that MC's voice is shot or the album is a flop, there's no way to convince them otherwise. People who loathe something are normally more vocal about it than people who like something. At the end of the day, Mariah Carey is a product for her audience (fans, lambs or just casual listeners). That's why she is right in putting her family as her priority - they are the only people who treat her as a human being, flaws and all. This line of yours to Marcel cracked me up though: "But I forget, you wouldn't have time to read those posts, as you're too busy having a life."

MIAMTEC physical CD sold out in HMV Singapore (44,261)

Well, when the U.S. predicted her sales for this coming week projected only 65,000 - 70,000 units, in some other countries the physical CD all sold out and my country affecting too. So what does it suppose to mean? [...] Now I need to wait for the next week to purchase the CD, even though I bought it on iTunes.

Damage control (44,260)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
I think Mariah needs some damage control to help promote this album. She needs to come off as more down to earth and more likable. She has to get rid of or a least tone down the ditzy diva image. It's not relatable and people want to buy music from those than can relate. Less dahlings and saying stupid stuff like splashes and "I've never had a normal job". She also could use a good stylist. It's always black and long with cleavage. That's so boring. Whoever dressed her on AI needs to come back asap. Mariah has legs for days but she only wears a slit or short dress occasionally. I understand the diva image and dahling stuff is apart of Mariah that we have to accept which is ok but it doesn't mean we have to put up with it all the time.

Official website (44,258)
by Lee from UK

I agree with Randy that it is a little suspicious that Mariah's official website hasn't been updated. The only hint about a new album on Mariah's website is a small block playing "Thirsty". There is no reference to her website in any of the Facebook updates either. Only links to iTunes. In a way this makes sense as it is directing people directly to the music. Facebook is actually posting MIAM as part of its direct advertising as my partner, who dislikes Mariah's music, keeps getting pretty large adverts for the album amongst his news feed (not the ones that I am sharing either). I suppose in this day and age if you are going to connect with an artist, the first place you would look would be their Facebook page as opposed to their official website. The only reason I look at official websites these days is for back catalogue information and tour updates. I wonder if it's a cost cutting exercise.

Your questions answered (44,257)
by Lee from UK

I am one of those people who have been waiting for Mariah to produce something outstanding since 1997. There are other fans on this board who have been waiting 17 years. Some "lambs" here have been questioning why we are waiting. Why are we sticking around? Why haven't we moved on? Why don't find another artist to adore? Well, let me address these questions. Firstly, every time Mariah writes a new album there is a certain amount of targeting at her "old fans" with slogans such as "the return of the voice" or "she hasn't sounded this good since the 90s" or "this album is nostalgic of her earlier work". This comes from producers she is working with and record companies so of course we are going to stick around to see if Mariah actually delivers on this promise. Secondly, many of us have found other artists to adore, it just wouldn't be appropriate to bang on about them on a Mariah Carey forum. Clearly we are still fans of Mariah otherwise what would be the point of a 31 year old taking time out of his day to write messages about a singer to a bunch of people he doesn't know? Some of you are on the cusp of accusing us of trolling.

Album sold out at Target (44,256)
by Jpark from USA

As a fan, I really did my part in supporting Mariah's new album. I preordered the deluxe album on iTunes, I bought both the deluxe and regular CDs, and I wanted to buy the exclusive Target edition (with America The Beautiful song) but it was sold out. As or right now, I bought 3 copies of the new album. I don't understand why the first week sales is projected at round 60,000. I'm pretty sure we can prove that wrong as long as we support Mariah and buy more of her albums. I did my part, did you?
