Release dates (42,826)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
Does anyone know why different countries get later or earlier release dates of the albums. Like Europe normally gets them first and US somewhere in the middle. Why is that when most of her sales come from the US anyway? Also why does Japan get bonus tracks when US doesn't? They got 4real4real and Heat and America got the standard edition.

Some of you are seriously messed up (42,825)

You post here as if MC owes you anything. If you don't want to buy the album because it's delayed, then don't. No one's forcing you to. But coming here and saying she treats you like trash and all sorts of name-calling, just because she don't deliver to your demands as a fan, then you really need to re-evaluate your life. I'm one who is critical of MC's decisions often. But some of you take too to the gutter. MC's album will arrive. Is it delayed? Sure. Am I upset? You bet. But MC does not owe me anything. It is my choice and my choice as a fan. I don't expect her to work for me. Geez, some of you need to chill a bit and smell the roses.

Edward (42,824)
by Eternal from Italy

I get your point, Edward. She's Mariah Carey, she has someone to attend to every single aspect of her life, she hires and fires nannies in the blink of en eye, she's worth 500 million bucks and she doesn't even need to really sing live any more to continue rolling in those dollars. Could this be why she has lost interest in it all? She usually slims down in time for an album release, she did it with TEOM and E=MC2 (though I will never know how celebs can gain and lose so much weight in a matter of weeks). This time around she just looks even bigger than when she was pregnant. The thing about having kids for a celebrity like her is not in doing household chores; your perspective on life is what changes. You just subconsciously shift everything else to second place. All the new parents I know, their social life changes dramatically, even with just one kid. A new parent would probably fret more over if their kid falls sick, then if they've finished their new album in time or not. She doesn't care about it, and she's just peacefully letting JD take all the blame while sipping her pink champagne. That doesn't really speak well of her professionalism and her work ethic, considering that she used to work her socks off and that's why she managed to accumulate all those millions in the first place. What can we do, if she herself doesn't care? Maybe we should start caring about our own lives more than hers, and listen to her younger peers more.

Thank you Randy (42,823)

Thank you Randy, you made good points. I feel similar to you in the sense that I've loved Mariah since I was a teen. I am 35 years now. I follow her career but not as when I was 11. I used to have all the time in the world. I have to think about my reality (rent, bills, student loans, family). Mariah has her family and kids to care. She is 44, not 20 anymore. She had an album every year for most of the 90's. Yes, she is a singer but this is show business. Now, she has other modes of income (perfume, endorsements , etc). If I had the money and comfort to raise my children like her and enjoy them, I would. She gave us 20 good years of her attention. Now, her babies need her attention, especially growing up in this business.

New industry (42,817)
by David F from Mexico
| |
|
|
Mariah saves souls and she is certainly God sent, today's industry is about sending souls to hell. Listen carefully to this generation of artists, they are manipulated, otherwise there's no lasting for them. Check out there are talented artists who are not supported because they want them to do something evil bad messages ínside the songs, but they refuse because good singing comes from God. Remember who Beyonce is married to, I hope Mariah never stops being who she is, but it could all end. Only the good God will guide her and my love for her will always last despite the good numbers because it's not easy to sell your soul in order to be on top. Fans do research evil exists if you love her, embrace whatever she comes with and enjoy her she is of our days.

MC is doing her thing. I love Mariah, remember where I was when I first heard "Vision Of Love" on the radio, and am grateful to her forever for how her God-centered music has helped my life. I buy everything she releases because I enjoy her evolution as an artist. Shame on all you self-important [censored] "fans" and your demands on MC. That's my girl.

Not buying the album? (42,815)
by Trish from USA
| |
|

I think it's important to remind ourselves that there are real problems in the world and not knowing exactly when the next Mariah Carey album is coming out isn't one of them. Lol, I'm frustrated too but I keep trying to remind myself to keep it in check. Reading on here that someone isn't going to buy an album if it's pushed back again made me laugh. I could never not buy a Mariah album. She makes the best complete albums, always has. I hope we get it soon and I hope the duet with Stevie is classic, with good lyrics. (I've been waiting for a Mariah/Stevie duet *all my life*.)

My opinion on new MC (42,812)
by Andy Lamont from USA
| |
|
|
We as fans/lambs need to understand that Mariah's name is not as popular as it was 10-20 years ago. There is always going to be bigger "better" competition coming for her throne, I mean Rihanna and Katy Perry have both unfortunately beat Mariah records recently. She's not able to pull off the sex appeal she once had, that these younger girls now have, now I'm not saying I agree but lets be honest, she's a mom and 44. Now my whole explanation for that was yes, she's been working on this album for 5 years almost but she really has got to make her next move very wisely to regain her name as the queen again. In terms of appealing to the younger fans, and her day 1 lambs. The creative process cannot be rushed, I say that because Memoirs to me is her worst album ever (IMO) and she kinda started to go downhill from there with not so catchy lyrics, and just terrible songs. As bad as I want this album and as mad as it makes me sometimes, I'd rather wait for one really good album that worthless 20$ down the drain of my money. Mariah has competition but we all know she has none (if that makes sense lol). She needs another hit and to her I say take as long as you can untill you find that next Fantasy or Dreamlover because we need you back MC full force.

Amused (42,811)
by Randy from USA

|
This entire thing is amusing to me. To see all of the die hard fans get so worked up over the album release is interesting because it means that the people most loyal are starting to get irritated and you never irritate your fan base. But there is a part of me that snickers at the nuclear holocaust that some of you are predicting if the album doesn't come out on time. It makes me wonder if some of you don't have anything else going on in your lives? Am I wrong for thinking like that? There was a time when I was outside of Sam Goody at 9:58 on a weekday to buy Rainbow the day it came out and the year before that I had a Walmart employee open all the boxes in electronics on November 17, 1998 to get my copy of #1s. But now that I'm in my mid 30s, yeah I'll be annoyed if MC releases this album late but I'm really sitting back waiting to laugh at the fan reaction as well as the lame excuse that she comes up with. I will agree with 90% of you that a silent release is not going to work for her and that this is the messiest she has ever been as far as a lead single choice or promotion. I can't believe this is all happening, but just as MC has put her family first career second, I think some of you need to put your family first, career second, and MC's album release third.

New era (42,807)
by NYHotShotta from USA

I wish The Art Of Letting Go single art was the album cover. About the album, I think it does feel like Mariah has gotten lazy because the handful of interviews she's does seems like she's been tipsy and doesn't talk enough about the album. I just hope this album will be on the same level as the Mimi album because that album, in my opinion, is her best overall album. I can let that album play and never skip a song.

JD and MC (42,806)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
If I was JD I would be furious with MC for letting me take the fall for everything. He's getting in a Twitter war every other day while she stays in la-la land and says nothing unless she wants to talk about something that Roc and Roe did. JD may have big responsibilities, but ultimately the manager can't force the artist to do anything. If Mariah isn't motivated to slay this era than nothing and no one can make her. I definitely would never be her manager again after this. When is MC gonna realize that we don't want to play hide and go seek about this album? Where are you? People are so desperate for info that they're hitting up her makeup artist for details. Ridiculous.

Silent release (42,805)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
I hope Mariah isn't doing a silent release, it's a really bad move. Mariah will look like a copycat and that's never good in the music industry. Need I remind anyone of Ariana Grande. She doesn't have the selling power of Beyoncé either no one knew Beyoncé's was coming not even the people she worked with. We know what's coming from Mariah, we have had too many songs released for it to be a surprise. Lastly Beyoncé's album was something completely new for her, very sexual lots of explicit songs different sound and she wrote cowrote like all the songs. Mariah so far has given us one completely original song and that's #Beautiful, the rest have been like rehashes. Bad idea if this is her plan.

Taking a stand (42,804)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
If this album is pushed back again I'm not buying it. Straight up. I can't handle the bs excuses about it not being ready creatively and all of this other mess. She's been doing final touches for years now. We're being treated like peasants by her and her management and I'm not going to enable them to continue to do so. Many may not agree with me but I don't care. A few bumps in the road is fine but when you're laughing and drinking in every other photo, clearly not giving a damn that most of your fans are frustrated and miserable waiting for you to get it together, you are not getting my money and I'm definitely not going to have unwavering faith when your career is an afterthought. JD and all of them are probably laughing at us right now because they know no matter how much they treat us like trash we'll still buy the album. It won't be me.

Poor Mariah has a family now (42,803)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
There are many working moms out there without a husband, and two or three children to raise who can't sit home and wait for years to go and get the bread for their children. They have to manage a home, their family issues, and multitask on their own. I completely understand that as a mom with a family things get tougher, but women have been doing it for ages. And these women don't have financial freedom, a set of when-I-need nannies to go to, yet they still have to work hard. It makes me mad when I read people stating that since Mariah has twins and a husband now, she can't be productive when she has a studio basically everywhere she goes. How hard can it be for a filthy rich Mariah to produce an album in 5 freaking years? Oh yes, she's really busy with her twins, with no nannies, and a 9 to 5 job to go to. And when she comes home from work, she has to take care of the house, do laundry, feed her babies, help them with their homework and clean. Since when do women sit their behind and become less productive because they have a family. In the real world, women actually become more productive, because they don't have it like that. Wait a minute; poor Mariah is so hands-on with her family, that five years is not enough. Give me a fat freaking break. Mariah is not the only woman in entertainment that has a family. I'm not saying she should put an album every year like in the 90's, but 5 years? It is absolutely ridiculous to me.

Correction Mr. Webmaster (sorry) (42,802)

I mentioned in my last posting that the best vocals she has provided since the Butterfuly - Rainbow area was from her MC2, meaning Merry Christmas II You, not E=MC2. Sorry for not being more clear. E=MC2 vocals sound tired to me, not amazing, like the Christmas albums and the pre-rainbow era.

Album (42,800)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I sure hope that all the silence and rumors about the album delay are just planned strategies that Mariah and her team cooked up, because I will be really disappointed if Mariah doesn't release the album on the announced date. And the excuses that she wants to focus on her family and is only doing the album to get out of the contract doesn't cut it. If that was the case she would have released whatever material she recorded in over four years and get it done with. Plus she is the one who said multiple times that she intends to tour to support this album. Blaming JD isn't enough, yes he is partially responsible but if M doesn't give the green light JD can't do much. We fans deserve to know what on earth is going on with the album because we have been waiting patiently for it. She has been hyping it up since summer 2012. It's getting annoying. I love MC but it'll be sad if she doesn't go ahead with the release date. I really wanted her to reclaim her throne this time like she did with TEOM. Please MC, show the world what you are capable of, I want you back on number 1.

Mariah's vocals (42,798)
by Matthew from USA
| |
|
|
Thanks for the insight on how songs are created in the studio, Edward. It's definitely an interesting process. That today's technology allows her to patch together the best pieces from different takes is pretty awesome. I don't have a problem with this because it's still her voice, just the best of it. The end result might be something that will challenge her live, but she should still be able to reasonably replicate it (emphasis on reasonably). The only way she wouldn't be able to replicate what's done in the studio is if they are doing a lot more than patching together her best takes, if you know what I mean. And that would be fraudulent and disappointing. But I don't think that's what's going on. Some of her recent material even sounds like they could have used some better takes but left it as is. Anyway, my original point was that regardless of how the process works, I am in favor of her setting the highest vocal standard on her album, even if it will challenge her live.

Do either of you gave any sources for your last messages? Not throwing any shade at either of you, but a lot of fans have been posting messages, which appear to be more fantastical than based on truth, when it comes to info on Mariah. I only write this because there's so much being written and said about Mariah atm, yet none of us actually have a clue as to what the reality if her situation is. I hope she just releases the album and gets on with it.

If It's Over (42,796)
by Brad from USA
| |
|
|
The time has come to drop the hammer. I think it's over. JD is trifling as a "manager" and assisting in the ruin of the remnants of MC's recording career. MC aint doing too much to help herself either. As a fan of 24+ years, I am through with it. I am, in point of fact, the biggest, oldest dang lamb out there and I want the truth, not smoke and mirrors. If the voice is gone, let me know. If the creativity, drive and zest to entertain is over, let me know. If it's label politics, let me know. I'm over waiting and wondering. I will just enjoy the catalogue and what was, not what might be. Have some respect for the people who have repeatedly put you in the position that you wish others in the game would revere. In other words, "If it's over... just let me go."
