Press release (42,795) by Eternal from Italy
I searched everywhere online but didn't find any news regarding this PR announcement confirming the album release. Where did you guys get this piece of news? Anyways. I'm not going to hold my breath. There's been too much speculation for too long. I'll believe it when I see it. The thing is, why isn't Mariah talking? She used to let the lambily know everything that was going on behind the scenes; now she just posts instagram pictures and random status updates like "we're walking". The only way Mariah can justify the album delay and this shady situation is if the album turns out to be a real masterpiece. Let's hope for it to be so. I do have confidence in her that at least a few songs on the album could be gems. She's always had strong album tracks, no fillers.

I've seen the tweet about the press release stating that the album is indeed going to be released on May 6th (can be found here), but couldn't see anything about it being released anytime between now and May 6th.

Amazing vocals (42,793) by Carlos Jaramillo from USA
Have you guys thought of the fact that she was recording some of this album while she was pregnant. Meaning, that stretch of time that she wasn't drinking. EMC2 has the best vocals since the Butterfly or Rainbow era. I'm certain that she has songs recorded during that time that are of similar vocal quality for the current album. The only problem is, the longer she takes to put out the album, the older those particular songs are and the more likely she is to remove them, especially as her song selection keeps growing, as she keeps adding songs. Not to mention the fact that she may also start selecting album songs by their vocal simplicity, considering that she may have to sing them "live". She may purposely remove songs that provide powerhouse, intricate, incomparable vocal dynamics, just to not be accused of being "studio girl" as she has been called as of late, and then judged so harshly for "live attempts". I remember when Mariah was basically an adjective. I was to "describe" maximum capacity and resilience.

Behold (42,792) by Ryan from the Philippines
Just in: Mariah Carey's highly anticipated new album is scheduled to be released digitally anytime this week and to be followed by the physical album release on May 6th. I don't know how reliable this is, but let's hope for the better. Getting excited.

Delayed or not (42,790) by B from USA
I don't care if the album is delayed or not. What I care about is the music. I loved #Beautiful and You're Mine (Eternal) but I hated Triumphant and The Art Of Letting Go. If the album is similar to the former she should just release it, if it's the former than she should delay it and start over. She needs songs that have huge choruses that people can sing along to. She is a pop genius yet she releases songs that have no structure. She is at her best when she makes pop songs that have an urban edge. She can score a hit with the right song and video.

Press release (42,789) by Martyn from England, UK
Mariah's PR sent out a press release today saying the album is definitely coming out in May (although no date specified) and added that Mariah wants to "surprise" her fans. I hope this doesn't mean an awkward copycat Beyoncé strategy. It won't work for Mariah. Unfortunately, as sad as it is, her name doesn't have the same selling power.

J from the USA (42,788) by Myles from CT, USA
I agree 100%. First off in this day in age, Mariah has a hard enough time selling albums and singles when the whole world knows they are available. A surprise album is a disastrous idea. IDC anymore, I want the album.

Wake up (42,787) by J from USA
Sorry but pulling a Beyonce isn't going to work for Mariah at all. Beyonce never set a date, never released music to iTunes and basically nobody had no idea her album was coming, none whatsoever. Honestly like I said before, it is what it is. Mariah will do as she pleases and is really sad how Jermaine has to take the wrath when let's be honest here people, Mariah is behind it 100%. If the album comes out May 6th, I'll buy it, if it doesn't it's ok, I will still buy it regardless. Humble yourself MC, let us know what has been going on for the past 2 years, we as loyal fans have a right to know because at the end of the day we buy your music.

Faith? (42,786) by Angelo from Italy
You just said we have to faith in Mariah? In who? A person that even stopped to talk with her fans and explain WTF is happening? Faith in a person who after 4 years of "final touches" just shares her [censored] family photos? It's a shame that fans got to talk with her manager JD instead of her, because she doesn't answer to her fans. Faith in Mariah? After this new pushback mabye I'll not buy the album either, maybe after 4 years of final touches. [censored]

Have faith (42,784) by Darryle from USA
I think we all need to have a little faith in Mariah. This album may be pushed back and yeah it's disappointin,g but so what? If we rush Mariah to put this out and it's not ready we'll be screaming that she gave us a half assed album that sucks, but if she pushes it back because it's not complete we're screaming that it should be complete and to just put it out already. Besides I honestly think this album will be worth the wait. Mariah said this is an album for the lambs and that it'll be one of her favs and it's like Butterfly of today. Mariah doesn't just say stuff like that and compare albums to Butterfly. If you really listen to the songs she really is trying her hardest to please us and herself at the same time. She's touching all the bases with the singles. #Beautiful pop and R&B YM(E) R&B with modern touch triumphant hip hop TAOLG pop ballad dance remixes with almost all the songs. These are what fans are begging for. She may not be giving it the way we like but she's trying her best to please us. Just have faith that when or if this album is released that Mariah will have given her all and pleased us and herself.

Blame (42,783) by Darryle from USA
People shouldn't blame JD for this. JD posted on twitter about this and he said that he gets what the fans want but this is what Mariah wants so she's doing it. This far into her career no one not even management can tell Mariah what to do, she's said it before. Mariah is gonna do what she wants when she wants and how she wants, even if it's against the fans wishes unfortunately.

Album pushback (42,782) by Eternal from Italy
I think Mariah really doesn't care that much about her career any more. If it was really Island or JD or some other corporate bigwig's fault, she would have actively voiced out her discontentment as she did in 2000. But in the Instagram and Facebook photos she's been posting lately, she looks truly happy with her family. Maybe she has finally found the undividedness and stability she's longed for (Petals ). So many of her photos now are with her hubby and kids, so I imagine she spends most of her time with them. Think about how hard is it for a mother to work and not be with her kids. When she was single/young, that was her only passion. Her career was her life. Now her family is her life. The reason why she's doing this album is probably because it's the last one she has under contract with Island and she's obliged to go through with it. Her heart isn't really in it, otherwise she would have tried harder as she did in the past, like give performances on TV shows. Even during the Memoirs era she gave regular performances, even in Japan and Europe. Now she barely even sings on American shows. She only participates in events where big money is involved, like AI and those African/Australian concerts. Frankly, I can understand her. She's not the only singer who has slowed down in her 40s. Many other singers do the same. Maybe I would have liked her to honestly say this in public so at least us lambs don't have to keep being misled and disappointed.

Next single (42,781) by Marquise from USA
I think Mariah's next single well be a uptempo song just in time for the summer. She got all the ballads out of the way I would be surprised if she went with another ballad especially during the spring/summer. She needs to release a song with the tempo of Obsessed or the catchy-ness/fun of Touch My Body. Something fun sweet and lively. Maybe even a party track like "It's like that". Mariah does real well during the summer so if history is anything it will hopefully repeat itself and introduce the world to a great uptempo Mariah Carey summer song. I guess its #MCSummer14.

New concept and album (42,779) by Danny Braden from Uk
In my opinion I think MC needs a new concept and she needs another project in the meantime to keep her name in the media. She needs to put a package together with the album and promotional plan to coincide with a major event. That way we know what to expect and she can deliver with confidence because secretly I think she has lost some of that to whatever reason. Planning and preparation is key here even if she doesn't choose to sing live getting booked on a good chat show or two would be a good idea and a scalpels version of one of her older hits to go viral On YouTube might bring her new fans while connecting with older ones. All just ideas at the minute but I really hope she doesn't just give up on this album.

Total mess (42,778) by Orkun from The Netherlands
Our love for Mariah makes us blind. If any other artist was doing what she was doing, we would trash it like no other. She always says what advice she would give to the Mariah that came out 20 something years ago. I wonder what the young Mariah would tell the current Mariah. Out of excuses. Enough marketing lies.

MC 5/6 (42,777) by Ryan from the Philippines
IMO, Mariah should just release the album on that promised date. The chaos that's been going on in the lamb world is getting worst and if she decides for another push back, she might lose more and more fans along the way. Mariah, just release it on 5/6, the album will tank if it's gonna tank. So what if it flops? What's new? It already happened to her recent singles. What the team (Mariah, label and others) can do is to promote it everywhere (radio, YouTube, iTunes, tv, awards show) to back up its release. That is the only card they can throw at this point in concern to Mariah's current career situation. And please, not another Beyonce-type of release. Sony can back her up with all the means for her, Island is just duh, whatever (censored). The fans have been waiting for so long and already have exhausted all the understandings from the delays but I think we've had enough and it's getting messy. How many revamps does the album need? When in fact until now none of the released singles from the album went to atleast top 10 on the Hot 100. So it's better to just release it, work it out, and prepare for the next one.

Guys relax (42,776) by Nathan from USA
I'm am so sure that we're in for a very pleasant surprise in the near future. Everything's been kept so mum lately, eerily mum. They are acting as though there isn't even an album in the works. I think they are pumping up the album with the element of surprise/shock value release. 6-7 weeks ago, Mimi said she isn't coming back until it's finished. A month ago, they hold an album party. Since then there's been a calculated silence. Trust me, 2 weeks away there is no way MC wouldn't have announced its postponement. Wait and see guys, wait and see. We are in for a nice surprise I guarantee. PS. Leave Jermaine alone. This is obviously her plan and you all need to trust in her and see.

Ripping my rose colored glasses off (42,775) by Marissa from USA
I honestly think Mariah takes us for granted at this point. She has the nerve to come out of an Instagram hibernation to post all of these Easter pictures and say absolutely nothing about the album. Mariah finally tweeted a promotional tweet a few hours ago. Guess who it was for? Debbie Allen. This is just plain wrong. I really am losing the connection that I once felt with her as a fan. If she really knew/cared how we felt than she should at least be making some serious attempts to inform us about her feelings, what's really going on, just something. If it is true that Mariah just wants to focus on her family, that's great, but keep it real and tell us that you are retiring. Don't string us along pretending that music is still your passion when it seems like just a hobby at this point. I don't agree with the whole "take your time Mimi, even if I'm on my deathbed when you finally release your album" mentality. We've all sat here and patiently waited for long enough. It's time for people to be held accountable.

Eric the webmaster (42,774) by Terna from Nigeria
You've been actively censoring posts latetly, blotching out words and sometimes phrases you feel are inappropriate, yet a whole post by Angelo, a very disrespecting and insulting post went unedited and uncensored. Makes one wonder what exactly the criteria is you use when censoring messages. [Angelo did not disrespect Mariah, he's just very upset about the delay and seeing other messages he's not the only one. He only said Mariah should be ashamed for pushing back the album agian and again.]

Re: Shame (42,751) by Angelo (42,773) by Terna from Nigeria
In my fourteen years of coming to this site, I have never read a message more disrespectful than this message you posted. What where you thinking? Honestly, you should be ashamed of yourself for cooking up something so vile, all because there's an unconfirmed rumour of an album pushback. And shame to all of you guys who gave him thumbs up for disrespecting Mariah like that. Sometimes I wonder what some of you take Mariah for. Its such a pity to see such on a Mariah fan site, the one place one would hope to see positive things being said about her.

All I want from Mariah is the album Mariah wants me to hear (42,772) by Geronimo from USA
I just realized that I started caring about the media and radio in particular when I started caring about Mariah. I wanted to hear her music in the media because I didn't have money to buy her records. There were other artists that I wanted to hear on the radio as well. But really, I was just biding my time until a Mariah song came on. Now that I am grown and can't really stand social media or the radio, I still love Mariah. I feel sorry for people who catch feelings about the fact that Mariah is not all over the place right now. She had her time of ridiculous fame and ubiquitous media presence and (besides the money and the catalogue) she didn't want it. She let it go. She produced some of her most generic music at the height of her fame and decided after Daydream that she would to go in a different direction, come what may. This era is what has come. A quarter of a century into her incomparable career in this competitive industry that is based on the sensuality and musical preferences of teenagers and now Mariah is having professional drama that you and I just don't get and probably never will because it is none of our business and has nothing to do with regular people's lives. Mariah Carey is having millionaire problems right now. She's a smart woman and she will figure it out. She'll work it out and release the only thing I care about: the album Mariah Carey wants me to hear.

Nervous, perhaps (42,771) by Mara from United States
I am beginning to think keeping mum on the whole album could be better promotion than you would think. It is keeping people talking, twitter is on fire with questions about Mariah's new album, questions about a possible push back again, questions to JD, Kristopher Buckle etc. Mariah being so quiet especially. I really hope we're in store for something big. Think about it, no promotion, people talking up until bam it gets released. I don't know, just a thought. On the other hand, if Mariah is totally switching it up and saw that the sound she was going for didn't go over well and has to rework things, then give her the time. We know she is a perfectionist and does not have the same life as when she could spend hours for days in the studio. She has babies now, they are her main priority. I for one would never want to be one of the people that contributed to her having a breakdown due to stressing over this album. When she is ready, we will hear it.

Getting all the ducks in a row (42,770) by nikki from usa
Having a great product is nothing if no one knows about it. Despite personal preferences You're Mine is a fantastic single and had every potential. I've heard non lambs and even haters alike say this is the best song they've heard from her in years. MC promoted it on BET and radio interviews geared toward the R&B market. Guess what? The R&B and dance charts is where it soared. She didn't promote it on pop and pop stations didn't play it. This only goes to show, if she promotes her music then it will get played. Mariah, you need professionals, not friends where your career is concerned. Being sexy is fine as long as there's a point to it. Dancers get away with it because of movement. Just standing and posing looks weird when you're not a model. But, if you're storytelling and a mermaid or a vampire then they'll just have to deal with it, won't they? You've got art to deliver. She can't do everything herself. If her label isn't going to promote it and her managers/publicists aren't going to set her on outings to promote herself, then she has nothing. She needs a manager, a publicist, and a label to do their damn job so she can do hers. It's time to release Thirsty, just come out with the big guns and let the rest follow.
