Mariah (76,869)
by B from USA

|

Mariah needs a vocal coach, personal trainer, and stylist stat. She's about to embark on her tour with Lionel and she's recording an album and instead of preparing she's off doing photo shoots for side projects that she should have never agreed to take on. Further proof of Stella incompetence. I think this shows what Stella's motives are clearly. She doesn't care about Mariah's career or legacy, all she cares about is making money while taking her entire coven on vacation under the guise of being Mariah's team. Supposedly Mariah was so angered after the Israel press conference that [she] canceled another press conference scheduled for later that same day. Remember when she had a publicist who wouldn't allow this nonsense? Mariah is to blame as well. She's lazy and misguided. Stella allows this because it gets her phone ringing and she gets to think she's important. I honestly believe she sabotaged Mariah's NYE performance to get her 15 minutes of fame. Which is exactly what she got, a Billboard profile published the next day. Here's the link.

I forgot about Dedicated. Does it really count though? She just mentions the Fantasy remix and ODB. She didn't actually incorporate any of the Fantasy lyrics into it, did she? I also forgot about Subtle Invatation. Two of her best songs, in my opinion. I wish she had filmed a video like Jennifer Lopez Ain't It Funny with Nas for Dedicated.

It flopped because Will 's star has dimmed in the US in recent years and because it's a bad movie. It's gotten terrible reviews and I'm glad Mariah's cameo was cut or never completed. She didn't want to do what the director wanted her to do which wasn't what she agreed to do. Obsiviously she wasn't in breech of her contract or she would have faced legal action. Finally Mariah showed some common sense. How would making a cameo in a b-movie help her career? It wouldn't. Did the Hallmark deal end? What happened there? A Christmas Melody was corny but cute and Mariah's Merriest Christmas was great but she hasn't finished the other films and there's been no announcements or casting calls. Did it end? Isn't it no longer happening? If so I'm glad because Mariah doesn't need to star in films she's directing. She should only work with Lee. I hope she makes another appearance on Empire but this time with a storyline written by Lee and directed by him. A Norma Desmond like breakdown for Kitty complete with vase flying and dishes thrown on the floor, lol.

The House (76,866)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

After all the let's use the Mariah was cut from the film as a method of promoting this movie and with Will Farrell's good name this movie was a major flop and it was released on the back of the holiday weekend. Goes to show you team The House should have just promoted [the] movie as much as they could rather than trying to use the let's drag MC for laughs and hopefully use it to our advantage. To Will Farrell and all who are apart of The House movie, time to use another punching bag other than Mariah Carey.

There's a good chance that none of this is true, but if it is this is a sign that shows Mariah the she needs to get rid of Stella and find a good manager and a better team to get her affairs in order.

My mistake. It's actually 9 CD releases each decade
1990-2000 - Mariah Carey - Emotions - Unplugged - Music Box - Merry Christmas - Daydream - Butterfly - #1's - Rainbow
2001-2010 - Greatest Hits - Glitter - Charmbracelet - The Remixes - The Emancipation of Mimi - E=MC2 - The Ballads - Memoirs - MC2Y

Here's an article from not the best source, Radaronline. It spews a lot of untruths probably, but I dream the Stella part is true.

I like the song as well. It's the strongest effort since #Beautiful and it's a shame it didn't chart better. Sounds great on the radio also.

I thought they were in the studio working on something so it does seem strange that nothing came from those sessions. Oh well, indeed.

Connecting the dots (76,856)
by B from USA
| |
|

Pop stars love to weave together and drop little easter eggs throughout their catalogs that harp back to a song or two. This is an excerpt from an article I read earlier and I thought it would be fun to apply this to Mariah's impressive catalogue. An example of Mariah weaving two songs together is Lullaby. Another example is For The Record. Can y'all think of any other examples?

I respect her wishes to slow down and enjoy the fruits of her labour this decade. Plus it wasn't like the public was waiting to gobble her work up like in the 90s and then ofcourse she has been focusing on dem kids for most of this decade.

How I love Ella Fitzgerald. The songbooks and Gershwin are a "holy grail" in music. But only a true musician with soul and a lot of talent can sing this wonderful music. If Rihanna, Tyler Swift and all those other hyped stars would sing a jazzy tune it would sound awful. They will never be able to sing it. Jazz is more than music for intellectual, it's timeless and if you're open to it, it's pure pleasure for the ears.

Clearly you know nothing of jazz. The most iconic voices ever all came from jazz, first and foremost Ella Fitzgerald. Within jazz there are millions of different variations and styles, not to mention that it's been at the foundation of so many other genres, including R&B and even salsa. Most of the Gershwin songs qualify as jazz, from that to freestyle chaotic instrumentals. Making these generalizing statements really shows a lack of knowledge of music as a whole.

Terna, jazz is not for "ugly rough voices", but I get that you don't like this type of music. Neo-Soul would be nice, lately I prefer soul music over the modern rnb. I just wish Mariah would try a new formula, a little bit experience. I also would love an album full of "retro-soul". So the lambs want jazz, gospel, rnb and soul. Great combination.

Vevo certified. (76,847)

"When You Believe" is Vevo Certified. A song from when I was a new Lamb is getting so much sudden love. Wow. Ok, I have a confession to make. I had a "When You Believe" tape for my Walkman. Haha, nothing on it just the song, on both sides (that was until I got a discman in 2000) and back then being a teenager I had a lot of time to watch TV, so I used to record music videos on VHS and everytime I changed to a music channel and the duet was on I'd hit record even if the song was already halfway gone. Lol.

Next album (76,846)
by Malcolm from Asia

I think Mariah will earn her 7th #1 album with this one, as long as she will not release it in the same period with Taylor Swift or with other current huge pop stars. DJ Khaled's new album went #1 just because of streaming, his traditional sales is only 50,000, lower than MIAMTEC.

90's vs 2000's (76,845)
by T from USA
| |
|

I just realized just how much a work house she is. In the decade of the 1990-2000 she released nine CDs (in ten years). Then from 2001-2010 she released another astonishing seven CDs. Makes you think how little the two releases from this decade have been.
1990-2000 - Mariah Carey - Emotions - Unplugged - Music Box - Merry Christmas - Daydream - Butterfly - #1's - Rainbow
2001-2010 - Greatest Hits - Glitter - Charmbracelet - TEOM - E=MC2 - Memoirs - MC2Y
