Re: Celine (76,837) (76,844)

No no no this can't be. I have always viewed the vocal Trinity as like family members. Whitney (rip) was the aunt with so much talent and potential, but her crazy marriage dragged her down. Mariah is like the sister that is a workaholic and talented but likes to party a little too much on the weekends lol. But Celine was like the mom, the person that would take you to church every Sunday while the rest of the family acting like fools. So to see Celine like this lol. My crazy imagination

DJ Khaled (76,842)

Mariah has been doing so many side projects that are leading to nothing (latest I heard is that the Barcelona photo shoot was for some luxury apartment or whatever), it's confusing. Anyways about Khaled, I wonder why, after hanging out with him so many times both in the studio and outside, did she not end up on his album. It seems like every song released from that album is going to the top 5. With Rihanna's one debuting at #4 and Justin's at #1. She should have gotten a track on it. She even seemed to have recorded. Lord knows why she doesn't grab good opportunities and instead I wasting her time on messy projects. I hope there is deluxe version or something where she'll get a track but by then the interest would be gone.

I don't think her next album should be a jazz or gospel album either. I want a Mariah Carey album.

No shade to Jazz artists, and I think Mariah's voice would go nicely with some sultry jazz-y song, but I'm not here for a full jazz album. I do not mind a jazz song in an album along with other genres but I agree, a full jazz album should not be her next move.

Mariah / jazz (76,838)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

Mariah is a special kind of artist, she is capable of giving us all kinds of genres and doing a fantastic job but a full on jazz moment is not what we need just yet. I would not mind some jazz influence but with MC a need some variety. A pop with R&B undertones some quiet storm and some 90's influence since it is making a wave again with a minimal amount of hip hop. Mariah just needs some fresh producers who can nurture her greatness and allow her to push her pen again like only she can.

While I am all for going into different territory this is not the move for Celine because for me sexy and Celine do not go together at all. On another note she could have done this fifteen years ago and I can understand her wanting to do so but at this point it would be arkward because Celine is only known as a ballad and A/C type of artist. But I just wait and see what comes of this maybe this is her Butterfly or Janet moment.

Re: Adele canceling tour (76,803) (76,836)
by Will from England

Take into account that the majority of Adele's popular songs require her to belt more than half the time. Mariah may record her songs in a higher key, but her songs are a mixtures of belters to softer sung ones, which on occasion can give her voice a little break. Plus you are talking about two very different voices. Adele is a powerful singer, but she can't do soft tones like Mariah (like whisper singing etc). Adele's voice is more or less permanently in full voice so it constantly is working hard. Now, Mariah has lost power to her voice, and for the most part, can't hold a long note like she used to without help or proper warm ups and rest, there is no denying that. But she can, if and when she chooses, sing softly as that doesn't take much effort for her to do and she has the option to play with the range that she uses. Adele can't.

Thank you Hasenan, you get what I'm trying to say. Jazz is for has retired beens with ugly rough voices, her voice is too pretty and distinctive for Jazz. I'd prefer Gospel or Neo-Soul.

Prince (76,832)
by B from USA
| |
|

The Paisley Park remastered album, overseen by Prince himself in addition to a new "From The Vault & Previously Unreleased" disc with 11 unheard gems from the storied vault is available now. How I wish Mariah would do this for Butterfly. She didn't seize the opportunity with Mariah Carey and Daydream. I hope she didn't do so because she's planning to do something to commemorate Butterfly's 20th anniversary. I'd be happy with a version that includes live performances, music videos, and remixes from that era. I also hope she does something to commemorate Butterfly's anniversary. Imagine what she has in her vault. She wrote Lead The Way during the writing of Butterfly and I'd love to hear any other songs she wrote during that era even if they're just demos.

"I Don't" reached 19 million views, what do you think? (76,831)
by monster from US

"I Don't" is very popular video. Over 19 million views. Could be found on the top 40 in USA charts. At the beginning, I didn't like the song, but now I started to love it. Actually, Mariah is not that kind of commerce singer, but she achieved good viral traffic. Do you think it's important to her career? How number of views could affect her popularity?

If she rearranges the songs for live performances, like she does TGIFY, she could do any song justice live.

I think it is a good idea for MC to be single and just have fun with Bryan, she doesn't need to be in a relationship if she is happy this way.

You mean a Gospel album full of songs she won't be able to give justice to live? An album full of overproduced songs and screeching? Jazz is the only thing that matches her current whispery voice; this genre brings out the soul. Jazz is the perfect outlet for her to express the pain that she's gone through without the need for over-singing and layering her songs with multiple choir, her own backup vocals and ultrasonic squeals she no longer can replicate live without her being caught lip-syncing. It could help even help repair her image. I've followed her since 1990, I've seen her highs and now her vocal lows. She's been playing around with jazz for many years so why not? Don't dismiss Jazz like it's for has-beens.

That's true it has something for everyone. After the first listen of the album I was a bit disappointed, but now I really love it. Especially "Meteorite" and "Beautiful" I won't miss. And "Thirsty" and "Cry" are also on that list.

Terna, I am with you. Gospel album should be a great idea. But I can tolerate jazz album as long as it is everything new from Mariah. We need a proper album (not another #1s) to discuss here.

I would love for Mariah to make a fusion album of HipHop/ Jazz/ NeoSoul/ Gospel. She has done that with songs like Outside, One & Only, I Wish You Knew, Dedicated, The Roof, Irresistible, Heavenly.
