Re: Beat Shazam, drinking, Tanaka, the studio and Vegas (77,113) (77,121) by Dominique from Cape Town, South Africa
I absolutely agree with you. I've commented on this video asking some of the viewers to explain what goes here because I can't, for the life of me, understand the point of her appearance. Regarding Vegas, I'm glad that she sounds slightly better, but as a singer myself, I'm not blown away at all. Not even in the slightest. I now avoid talking Mariah to any of the peeps I know who are musically inclined. It's become impossible to defend her. PS. I'm still a fan.

MC Vegas vocals (77,120) by Todd from Melbourne, Australia
Honestly, I don't mind the vocals. Yes, she should have put some more effort into the first couple of shows, and that is completely unprofessional. But what does bother me is just how unequivocally miserable she looks on stage. She clearly doesn't want to be there. And through it all, she's always (in my opinion) showed up for her fans, as we have always managed to remind her why she does what she does. But something has changed. In saying that though, I've just finished a 5 month tour of Les Mis, and as fun as it was, I can't think of anything worse than doing it again. Same show day in day out got old. Real quick. And 5 months ain't nothing on 27 years. Oh Mariah.

Voice coach or operation (77,119) by Jamie from UK
Hey guys. Just thought I'd bring this to the table. Would you prefer Mariah got strict vocal training or had an operation to remove her nodules and risk loosing the whistle register? I personally would go for the operation, as Mariah has done so many great songs without the whistle register i.e. All I've Ever Wanted, Everything Fades Away, My All to speak of a few. If she could get good quality back in her voice I'd prefer that. And I think it would give her the confidence to perform great again. Let me know your views.

Re: Lionel Richie Facebook fans attack Mariah (77,115) (77,118) by Licia from USA
Nope her goal needs to be to shut them up from the first night that tour starts. We let her get away with that third show stuff, but these fans will not. She has to bring her A game from the start to finish.

Re: The truth (77,107) (77,117) by Myles from CT, USA
I hate to agree but I'm still looking for the proof. Everything sounds dry and Katy Perryish. It pains me to say that but there's no fluidity in her voice. It doesn't sound pleasant, for years now.

Well you know boobs, booze, and boy toys are uber important right now. According to some that's what is making her relevant and so popular. Lol.

Lionel Richie Facebook fans attack Mariah (77,115) by Sheila from United States
I have a feeling Mariah is going to slay the Lionel shows, I think she's gonna approach this like she did the third night of her Vegas shows where she's ready to silence the haters.

Article: Mariah Carey's "Butterfly" turns 20 this year (77,114) by BMP from indonesia
Transition from Whitney Houston to Janet Jackson style. More slow dance, hip hop, interlude between songs, and sexy.

Beat Shazam, drinking, Tanaka, the studio and Vegas (77,113) by Randy from USA
Did anyone feel like me, like why she was there? She came out, hugged a few contestants, sat at the piano while they showered her with love and compliments and then she left. I don't know the show, but is that what celebrities come on there and do regularly? MC should definitely be in a studio working but I don't think all this touring will distract her, didn't she record Rainbow in like 3 months and the JD tracks on TEOM over a week? As far as her drinking, I do see she's always indulging but I will choose to be delusional there until she's falling out of a club drunk. Tanaka is gorgeous but it baffles me how a living legend could be flaunting her boy toy but then again didn't Cher date a guy in the bagel shop in the 80s? They were all over the tabloids. And Madonna and JLo also are known for their boytoys. I feel we are too hard on MC but yeah the wheels are definitely coming off. I'm still riding for her, but jeez y'all should see how other boards, blogs and Facebook groups are eating her alive about what you guys think sound good live in Vegas.

Oversinging / young singers (77,112) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Mariah has often been criticized for oversinging, especially during her earlier albums, which she actually has admitted in an interview before. But even her oversinging then pales in comparison to the desperate attempts of today's generation of singers. Have you heard Demi's newest single? Girl is just obnoxiously screaming her lungs out in the chorus. Poor Demi. She really can't catch a break, can she? She'll have the occasional top ten single but then fizzles out quickly. Out of her contemporaries, she's had the least impact and is easily the most forgettable. She can try, but she'll never be as edgy and kooky as Miley, nor can she ever have Selena's ear for great experimentation and quirky vocal delivery. Loving Fetish, by the way. It's like Good For You part two. Nice.

So sad. Just so sad. Too bad Eric doesn't have the first 1000 posts from the message board. I'm forgetful at times, but I'm sure I remember the topics were a bit different. It wasn't about boobs or alcohol.

Studio now (77,110) by Ben from Sweden
I wish for Mariah to stop singing live and focus on studio work. Her voice is done but can pull it off in a relaxed environment, a studio.

Re: Why you mad at Mariah? (77,090) (77,109) by Merr Hasenan from Malaysia
"But I do also have the awful feeling that she'll end up like Michael and Whitney, and then there wouldn't be hope anymore. I wish for her to be there for her children and see them go to college, but there's clearly something very off with Mariah that only the delusional ones refuse to see." You described my worries very well. From MJ to Whitney to Prince to George Michael, my worries come to the max. I don't want to believe those wild stories surrounding these celebrities, the conspiracies and the evil in the music industry. To see what had happened to Mariah, I pray for her not to end up like her friends. I want her to witness her 19th #1, but not from heaven. I cry while I am typing this. I love Mariah very very much.

Re: Why you mad at Mariah? (77,097) (77,108) by Victor from Costa Rica
Don't think I don't understand what you feel. I do have high expectations for her. Sometimes they are fulfilled, sometimes they aren't. My point here (with the initial post) is that if you have a problem and you spend all day long talking about that problem, you will never leave it behind and won't be able to move on because you will be surounded by the toxicity that comes with it and at the end you will be the problem because it will get materialized through you. I guess that is what happened with the lambily. We haven't been able to manage frustration/ dissapointment on a healthy way and we are helping to make things worse than what they really are. Some drama is good, but this shit is 0. Hahaha. (I'm talking about the Lambily.) My advise is: Count your blessings instead of your misery. Life will be better for her and us with the right approach.

[censored] Aren't you tired of being perceived as a negative person, or tired of misrepresenting your self image that way?
Of course she can sing. She sings different from how she used to sing and that my friend is called aging and life. No one can stay the same along the way. If you pay attention to her voice, it carries scars from experience and her voice has evolved to a level that is beyond our comprehension. I wish you could understand and enjoy without judging.

Re: Why you mad at Mariah? (77,088) (77,105) by Victor from Costa Rica
Thanks Geraldine. It's just that I wish we all could try to not analyze everything Mariah does or probably express less our opinions when we don't like or disagree with most of things she does or has become because it is wrong to do that. I have accepted that she has changed and I have embraced her new persona, her new style, her new singing, her new life and her new business vision. I don't judge her in any way because I support what I like and wish her the best no matter what. I forget the things I don't like or at least I don't get mortified about it. And I'm grateful for the amazing music she has given us all these years and for the great music I know will come soon and later. Her legacy will last and stands out forever. We all know that.

Haven't been on here for months and it hasn't changed, people acting like they are Mariah's P.A., people defending bad performances, her poor life choices, will check out for another few months and come back to the same. Lol.

Re: Praying she lets go of the bottle (77,098) (77,099) by RibbonB from USA
Remember when Mimi wrote that song "I pray"? I wonder what her personal prayer for herself is these days, if any. Perhaps, "I pray for an end to the weight and the vocal hate, that people will accept whomever I say is my mate, even if I act like I'm on a date with the help. Just wait while I play devilish games with an old dictator and drink myself into oblivion, a hero will come along for a fee and rescue me from all disease and tabloid mess on TMZ unless I want Gary to spread the tea", etc etc. That song I Pray was nice though. Cool lyrics.

Praying she lets go of the bottle (77,098) by 123 from USA
It's the alcohol. This video explains it so clearly. You don't go from barely belting the first two nights to sounding so much better by the 3rd night. She even tells the crowd it's not fair that they're drinking because from the sound of her voice she hasn't had any recently. It could be more than the end of her career if she doesn't stop. I wouldn't care if she quit music as if it meant she would let go of these vices that hinder her health. Praying that she lets go of any vices, is healed of any illnesses, and that isn't helping her towards recovery goes away.

Re: Why you mad at Mariah? (77,090) (77,097) by Musti from UK
I do hope she recovers. But given how things have been going, a change would be a a big surprise at this stage. I will continue to focus on the music. To be fair I haven't listened to I Don't, Infamous or Infinity since the time they were released. I did like I Don't at first, but eventually it felt like I paid for a gossip article set against music. Not to mention that awful video. Even the music has started to become contaminated. None of it feels genuine. Mariah the person might not inspire me anymore, but I want the music to retain its significance for a lifetime. How sad that we have reached a point where retirement feels like an appropriate option. I'd much rather see her retire than... God forbid. I will be here when new music is released, even though my expectations are at an all-time low.
