Re: New All I Want For Christmas animated movie (73,826) (73,832)

I'm not ashamed of saying that it's too much because it is. Lol. This could be added to the list of things that I don't need or want, but I definitely understand why she's doing it. Christmas and that song have become one of her biggest and easiest ways to earn and although I don't want it, I can't really hate on her capitalizing from it. Hopefully the children will enjoy it.

What of the dues Mariah owes to the remaining fans who haven't abandoned her. If she can't commit to being an, I don't know, "professional", or, dare I say "good", music artist, how insulting to everyone who comes to this board. Rather have Stella milk as much money from her reputation and squeeze the life out of her legacy with shite like a Christmas movie about a dog. Like, oh you guys, like whatever. Or in English. What [censored] tosh. She is ironically, a parody of the parody of herself. So yeah, she's old. Who does she think she's putting this stuff out for? She won't commit to being a good music artist so who does she think cares about all this other nonsense? Nobody is going to care one iota about (another) shite Christmas movie from, what Joe Public considers, a has-been. AIWFCIY is bigger than Mariah (that's a crazy, but true, sentence). And, Martyn, I'm glad the helpdesk fixed your face. A whole helpdesk dedicated to your face. You [censored] diva. Love it.

All I Want for Christmas Is (73,830)
by Edward from USA

An animated movie based on the the whole album would be great idea, but not something cheaply made. They wouldn't have to redo any vocals, just use the album vocals with a good story. An animated movie based on "All I Want for Christmas Is You" also could be a great or bad idea depending on who's behind it. If Disney or any reputable company produced it, Mariah could be potentially and finally turning AIWFCIY into a #1 by the end of the year, but knowing how lazy, careless and uninspired Mariah has become, I'll take this announcement with a glass full of salt. I'm tired of disappointments, so let me expect the worse, maybe I might get a huge surprise.

I'm wondering the same. If it's good animated and fun maybe it will do well in december. I just fear a little bit that it is too much for non-fans. I mean I would love to watch it or is it only in US? I want a movie about "Honey": Mariah as agent honey aka 00soul. Wasn't there a idea in 98/99 about a movie with Chris Tucker which never happened?

I'm wondering if this is too much at this point. I don't want to see this timeless, iconic staple of a song become a cliche' this far into its career. Seems like she tried it with the book and maybe it didn't do what she thought it would do, or this may have been the plan all along, to release the book and the movie at a later date. She could have always done the movie a few years down the line away from the book to spread it out a little, but she does need to keep bringing in money to her brand also.

Well I wish Mariah well with this project. She may be watering down the iconic brand of her song with this, but I hope it is cute anyway. I won't even shade Crusterella this post.

I'm so over of all these "lets go to dinner, so we can call the paparazzi" moments. Also, for me, it's still startling to see reality tv star tacked onto Mariah's name: "The E. reality star...". Anytime I see it, I still have to have a moment to just stare and think/question, really hard, how they got there: are those words really there, are they correct, how did we get here?

I think it all boils down to laziness. It always feels like minimal effort is put into everything she does nowadays, which is a shame. I'd love her to have the same drive she had back in the 90s, but I guess when you're 47, have two kids and have achieved such a gargantuan amount, there isn't as much motivation.

Yes it comes in many flavors, you can eat it on it's own or mixed in other desserts (like custard), it generally comes in small packets that you can carry around haha.

Something that bugs (73,820)
by Nikki from usa

As much as MC is known for being "stripped down" where concerts are concerned I'm afraid her ads for her residency are too spartan. Hers are the most basic compared to everyone else, they're also the shortest. The rest of the headliners have attention grabbing intros describing what will be experienced at their concert while all MC has listed are her accolades. The rest also have their pages showing pics of them on stage with reviews, tips, and critical praise. Mariah has none of it. Despite how praised her concerts have been, no one would know by reading any of that. I'm talking about the actual concert sites and ticketmaster promoting them. Remember how she announced it? There was a stint on Ellen and then her car ride to interviews on location and that was it. She's done and received the least promotion, seemingly in Vegas history. Add that to her spartan descriptions and lack of feedback to serve as a push, the way she has been selling her shows as well as she has is pretty impressive.

Not to rain on your parade, but I think what little success I Don't has had has far more to do with it being on her show, Packer drama, and an over-sexualized video than its beats. Kids loved Infinity, adults didn't. My 11 year old was singing it and she doesn't like Mariah, she had half her class singing it too because it's catchy and sassy. If that had played on an anime or popular cartoon MC would've had gold. I like "I Don't", but I think Mariah's over it. I don't understand why she'd go through all the hoopla to release it, make a video, sing it live once and leave it do die. She's not pushing or singing it live anywhere. That would make sense if she was already touring with Lionel, but now that her schedule's open there's no excuse why she's not trying to do more with it. I think the Packer drama and her show simply gave an opportunity and she took it. Lyrically, it's the first time she sang something where you can't tell what it's about and there's zero poetry or witty play on words. A generic breakup for sure. But, get this: SIO - cheating, HB - cheating, CLG - can't move on after breakup, WBT - wishing a lover would come back, ID - "treated bad"... how? Lyrically speaking, I can't even tell if the relationship is over already or simply about to be and still don't know why.

Drake shades Jlo - should have had Mariah sing it (73,818)
by Sheila from United States
| |
|

Did you catch that? The music playing in the DraLo prom video is "Get Together," only it's an earlier version with Drake and Lopez singing together. What the report from Entertainment Tonight is implying is that, immediately following the break-up, Drake may have decided to send a message about his feelings on the matter by bringing in a new singer to collaborate with on "Get It Together". This meant removing Lopez's actual vocals but feeling no type of way about leaving a shady reference to her ghosting him on one song and using the chorus from another song for a track. As of now, Drake has removed all of Jlo's vocals.

Mariah has never released a bad album or single (song). Some are better than others but she's still talented enough to write I Don't which tells all about the Packer split without naming names and the sample was a stroke of genius as is the adding of a current trap beat that doesn't overwhelm the original. I Don't has really grown on me and if Epic pushed it at radio Mariah could score a Top 20 hit.

I like Infinity but I can understand why some might not. The verses are modern Mariah (post TEOM) and the chorus are classic Mariah (before Butterfly). The production tries to straddle this fine line and falls flat. Is it a shady diss record or an uplifting anthem? It tries to be both and fails. It's half assed. It feels rushed. I Don't was able to update Mariah's signature sound seamlessly. The sample and interpolation mixed with a current trap beat works and is why it's gotten more views than a lot of her recent releases.

One Sweet Day doesn't get the credit it deserves. Its still played at funerals and still helps people who are mourning the loss of a loved one. How many songs can say that? Especially songs that were released 22 years ago?

I don't acknowledge or talk about those two tracks. I ignore them like I ignore Crapfinity and Why You Mad the Craptastic remix lol. I agree that was a missed opportunity. I expected so much more from both of those tracks because I've wanted those R. Kelly and Mary J collaborations for years. I want to believe that if she ever worked with Babyface again that he would motivate her to do better than what she has been. I just refuse to believe that she'd half ass anything with him. He's such a perfection I don't believe he'd allow her to half ass anything in a session with him.

Vanishing / MC's catalogue (73,809)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
I just turned the radio off because the female singers on the charts hurt my ears. Lol. Beside "All alone in love" I think "Vanishing" is also a gem, the energy and emotion that Mariah had with only 20 years is phenomenal. When she sings: And if somehow I could recapture. From her debut to MIAMTEC and all the remixes, her catalogue is simply the best. Like somebody said on this board I wish we would get more unreleased songs or raw material that Sony still owns.
