I highly doubt she'd be willing to work with DCP again. Ever again. After the Metallic and Lady Gaga technical snafu it seems Mariah was wrong, they didn't have their [censored] together.

After Metallica had technical problems I guess Mariah's been vindicated. DCP can't even get it right on music's biggest night.

This should be interesting. Hopefully they will take my advice and do a parody of "I Don't" while on the show. Good luck to her.

Rihanna's diamond encrusted flask (72,595)
by RibbonB from USA

Rihanna is a mess, her with her flask and sipping throughout the show is hilarious and yet everything. Now if Mariah had the balls to bring a diamond butterfly encrusted flask to an award show and sip from it, she definitely would have been flogged and dragged through the blogosphere. Now that is unfair, but her not being invited to the Grammy's or not even being there this year is to be expected, IMO. She has said that she does not like award shows anyway, especially when she is not up for one. She also "needs" way to many people to get ready, to walk around with etc. so it is best she stayed away. Sarcasm aside, Mariah comes across as very insecure at awards shows. That is not a good way to go into a major award stage fresh after a major debacle or two. At least she was not the butt of Grammy show jokes like she was on a couple of shows right after the NYE thing happened.

Mimi L., as Eric said, maybe since NYE, big event organizers don't want to work with Mariah and the way the situation was dealt with. Mariah took Stella's wonderful advice and went with her "they sabotaged me" version of the events, knowing very well that it would have future consequences. When she got a spot for the national anthem, she didn't have the diva reputation she has now. She was working to rebuild her career with humbleness. Mariah didn't have to complain directly to anybody, she used her music for that, it was the beauty of it. So, don't be surprised if we don't see Mariah on these big events as much as we would like to.

But if Adele had panicked, pranced the stage without singing for minutes and all the other things Mariah did or didn't do during her debacle, then Adele's performance would have been an even bigger disaster than Mariah's was. Adele had the nerve to stop and restart and sing her face off. I understand Mariah was confused, couldn't hear the playback etc, but she had options to not go on until the equipment worked, or to go on with the show in a more creative way than she did. The way Mariah has been performing live these days missing the Grammy's was probably a good thing. It takes a village for her to perform on late night TV, or morning talk shows and she does not seem nearly ready for a major even like the Grammy's. She needs to work her way up to that by appearing on a few shows and flawlessly, humbly and graciously passing out a few awards to others.

Mariah Carey is about a decade behind (72,591)
by T from USA

There was a time in Mariah's career that she was all about the music. In a way it could've been perceived as boring, but that's who she was. Part in part because of Tommy but also that's what her peers like Celine Dion and Whitney Houston were also doing. But something started to change in the industry. Madonna was becoming more and more in your face, the Spice Girls up'ed the music marketing game and Britney Spears made being sexy the thing to do. At the turn of the new century Paris Hilton and Britney were the most talked about "celebrities" but not because of their voices in music but because of their antics. And I remember a picture of Mariah at a party with Paris Hilton and it looked like Mariah wanted to fit in so badly. Here we are now in the year 2017 and something has happened. The industry has switched back to being about talent and voices. Just look at Adele and Beyonce at the Grammys. This alone should mean Mariah can shine again, but unfortunately she still stuck in the idea that you have to be overly sexualized and controversial to sell records. In a way Mariah was the one who brought it back to being about the talent with TEOM. But in recent years she's regressed to that early 2000's/Glitter thing where she seems so unfocused about the music and more focused about being a celebrity. The only thing I can think of is her voice really is gone and she has no other choice.

Another thing is that people still mentions and pokes fun at Mariah whenever there's a technical issues on the show, like on what happened to Adele, a lot of people said things like "Do you see that Mariah Carey? That's how you handle messing up on stage." I still believe that Mariah could've been handle the situation better but give her a break, first of all it was New Year's Eve, you can't just re-start like that, New Year will not start at 12:05. They mentioned her again during Beyonce's performance, they said that a pregnant Beyonce looks like a normal Mariah, how rude these people are. Because of that Stella's unprofessional management and wrong career decisions for Mariah, look what she did, Mariah just earned more hate. A new management is just the only hope for Mariah from all of this. It's heartbreaking.

I agree. If nothing else, in my opinion, attending award shows and other events can be a good and easy way of keeping in the public eye, attached to music/entertainment and most likely make for good networking opportunities also. She should go to these events.

The difference in the Glitter era and now is that the Glitter team didn't accuse a major network and company of trying to sabotage her career. Yeah there was a rumor that everyone thought Tommy was doing it, but he's one man compared to a huge company. I agree with Eric. There's a chance she just simply wasn't invited. We really don't want to believe that, but it's a huge possibility. It would have been a nice surprise for her to be a part of both Prince and George's tributes, but I knew not to expect it.

But Benny seems very happy with JLo and really have a friendship beyond work and I think JLo's record sales don't matter to Benny anymore because she has other major side projects, and successful ventures at that. On a side note, seeing JLo on the Grammy's earlier seems weird to me, I don't know if this is the effect of the JLo vs. Mariah lol but whenever the spotlight is on her, she acts so gullible and I can feel the vibe that she wants the spotlight so much that she acts so extra. There's this one skit where James Corden invites JLo and other "real" singers to join him in a carpool karaoke, and I can't remember who it was but there's someone that giving the mic to Ms. Lopez for her to sing along but she refused and just do some poses and act beautiful instead.

They definitely won't be willing to take her but if they were persuasive enough or maybe pay up a little they could have accomplished that. Didn't her previous team get her to sing the National Anthem at the SuperBowl when her career was at an all time low during "Glitter" era? Now her team got her a little spot on Jimmy Kimmel, which is not even popular anymore, what with Fallon and Corden blowing up.

We usually separate a Mariah performance from a Beyonce one because Beyonce is an all out performer while Mariah's sole selling point is her voice. But this Grammy performance is a perfect example of all the things Mariah should have tried and didn't. Beyonce basically did what Mariah usually does (minus the self touching) which is barely move yet she compensated with top class production and amazing choreography and visuals. Like who would have thought? She just walked around and yet seemed so powerful and extraordinary. While for Mariah it's always the shirtless dudes doing the usual moves and a little "pick me up, twirl me around" moment with zero vision really.

Haha I'm actually scared of the day Mariah will fire Stella because Stella won't take it easy. Her contour will become extra muddy with rage and her mess of a smokey eye will give out real smoke. You are right about the points though, every day I'm surprised at all the missed opportunities. Even some of her lambs have much stronger ideas and plans to get Mariah on track. Yet she employs this wannabe thug.

Mariah's team does take notes, but not the type you want, they are busy collecting green notes (i.e. money) wherever and whenever they can get it. Because Stella needs her 10% or 20% or whatever she charges Mariah.

What if Stella wants to but Mariah is the one who declined? But I agree, even just her presence there and seeing her socializing with other artists will do her image good. I can say that the passion on her is still there but it's not like as it was back in the day and apparently it's not enough to make her go to these awards shows anymore, like literally she has her own world. Even Celine is there and it's nice how they introduces her for an event like this, it really fits for a legend like she is, but on the other hand, seeing Mariah's peers on those award shows makes me sad for her because she should've been treated like that, she should've been celebrated like that but nope, Mariah chooses the other direction. She's just so out of touch from the music industry, it's disappointing.

I find it strange that fans assume that if Mariah wants to perform at some awards show or tribute that the organisers are willing to invite her. After NYE I think many organisers would say "No, thanks." So maybe Mariah wanted to perform at the Grammys, but the organisers preferred Adele and Beyonce.

Yup, Benny may be all of those, but unfortunately, there's a couple things he can't provide that Stella can in spades: 5. A creepy family with no respect for boundaries whatsoever. 4. A complete disregard for class and proper decorum. 3. Top-notch kiss-ass-ery. 2. Misled attempts at "female-empowerment". 1. Sweet lady kisses at night. (I really wouldn't be surprised if Marella are endgame, even if the relationship is actually one-sided - yeah, Stella, better find another.)

Since Mariah's team is unprofessional and stupid, of course they would not use music's biggest night to prove Mariah can sing and get her some industry respect. Mariah is worst than Whitney before she passed. All time career low and Stella could care less.

First of all, Adele is a very, very gracious person. Her acceptance speech for her Album of The Year award is so genuine and passionate. I agree with her that Lemonade should have won that award, but I don't mind that she won those big awards at all, because she's talented and she deserves those awards (although I was rooting for Beyonce, she was definitely snubbed). Also, can we talk about that beautiful Beyonce performance? That performance is so poignant. So graceful. From her restrained yet powerful vocals to the stunning visual effects to the delicate choreography, it was flawless. Adele's tribute to George Michael was also so, so beautiful. Mariah's team, take notes.
