I'm really not sure honestly. I'm assuming it was either the director's choice or maybe even hers. We all know she has to do everything her own way. She even stated, "It's important to have everything a 'his & hers'", we'll you just saw the "hers" version lol. I'm only kidding.

Thanks, I thought I was going crazy. I've never seen the version with Mariah in it - I wonder why there were two versions?

Let's be real, no one "linked" Mariah's dancer to her. The whole link up originated from her own camp. With all the leaked videos of them looking cozy and him wearing her robe and her pouring drink over his shirtless body. If that wasn't enough they then explicitly played up this "he has a crush on her" storyline for the show and then used it for the official trailer. As for no boundaries, would you blame Tanaka for shadowing Mariah if Mariah is paying him to do so and also in the mean time he is getting free publicity? Lastly, as much as it is Ellen's job, it is also Mariah's teams job to let Ellen know in advance about the minimum things she absolutely needs to address on the show. Which as we have seen lately doesn't happen at all because in all the shows she goes on, her projects are mentioned almost as an after thought. Her team should have also informed Ellen that Mariah wouldn't play the game in advance so they wouldn't waste time on that and instead focus on a more substantial interview. As far as I heard, Leah Remini came right after Mariah and she sold her 8 part documentary pretty well.

I agree "who'd you rather" is not a good game for her as she gets linked with anyone she takes a photo with let alone comment on. Her IG comments are terrible whenever she stands next to a man. As for the "no boundaries guy", that is up to Mariah to set and maintain boundaries with her employees and anyone she even works with for that matter.

Mandela effect? (68,661)
by Haiji Toro from USA
| |
|
|
OK so this is kind of off topic from the latest. I just recently discovered a change in a song. People may call it the "Mandela Effect", some might just call me crazy, whatever lol. I want to make sure that I'm not tripping. In the song "Boom Boom Pow" by The Black Eyed Peas, there's a line, "I'm so 2008, you sold 2000 too late", or something to that effect. I swear that I remember it being "2008". I've searched all over for this version and it's nowhere to be found. It now says "3008". Um did I miss something? When did this happen? So now my other question is, has anyone caught any changes like this in a Mariah song? Is there a lyric in her songs that you thought was but now has changed?

I understand what you mean. Of course nobody can always show the real self at every time if you are so famous like Mariah is. But I'm so tired of this "diva" and luxury thing. She's so much more than this. And a lot of people don't know, that makes me sad. Is it selfish that I miss the more "natural" Mariah? Not the girl in the field in jeans shorts but the serious artist who really cares for the fans and is the greatest without drama press. Maybe it's all because of the lost confidence. I saw her live on several concerts, she was always talking to the audience and made jokes. It seemed real and you could tell that she enjoyed her audience and the evening. I just wish that she enjoys what she's doing and that we see her again without the mask which is "protecting" her.

What in the world are you smoking? Yay, she managed to answer one question, for the first time in so long (so you say). Down to earth? I'm sorry, but having your implants on display, and being covered in diamonds is hardly down to earth. Conservative? Once again, having your chest exposed like that isn't conservative at all, and you could see her cleavage as she was sitting; as a matter of fact, I believe I've seen some side boob. But, I loved how she went on and on, rambling about her stripping of the robe, as if we gave a damn to hear that much about it. Were we even watching the same program? I love MC as much as everyone here, but I can at least be honest with myself.

Martyn this is for you. I couldn't find the whole video. I remember seeing a full version but now that you mention it, I believe the version with Mariah was only released at first but then the version with Cheryl Cole was in replacement.

Ellen (68,656)
by Will from England

|

I kinda somewhat get why she was less than willing to partake in a little game, no matter how harmless it was. As I recall, after Tommy, she was being linked to any guy that breathed, and right now she's being linked to that "I don't know the meaning of boundaries" dancer of hers, after a very public divorce and breakup. Of course no one is forcing her to hook up with any of them. But that's been a part of her since forever: she will refuse to pick one person over another, especially if she herself is friends with them, unless she doesn't like them. Ellen's show format isn't the place for a serious interview about her life. That's more reserved for a one-on-one setting, where she doesn't feel the need to pander to an audience. Could she have talked about anything else? Yes. But then again, Ellen didn't direct the interview in any particular direction, or bring up anything for Mariah to talk about or promote properly. It was literally Christmas, that photo, MW briefly, and WYR. It is Ellen's job as an interviewer to bring up topics, not just only Mariah. Whether Mariah answers or not is another matter altogether and when she was asked how she was, she did technically answer, then deflected when it became too uncomfortable.

Well I thought she was pretty "deep" for an Ellen interview. She was herself, she answered the most important question in my opinion: "I think I'm doing well." She also answered the question wether there is a real "Mariah that we're missing". It was pretty explicit. She even completed the question. To me, it sounded like she is aware of some of the criticism from people, even her lambs. She knows she's been everywhere and overexposed yet maybe has taken some distance from her fanbase. She pretty much said she is not always who she really is, because it's hard to be and no one can really be who they are on every occasion. Especially when you live in the spotlight. As a lamb I understand that Mariah is focusing on her many jobs (mum, lover, artist). And I want all the best for her. I'm ready to sacrifice a little of my selfishness and craving for new music. She needs to live. All of us need to. Do you get what I mean?

Being honest (68,650)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

Being honest we all love MC and her music for different reasons. But if I am being honest if Mariah wants any chance of getting back into the good graces of the masses she really needs a new team who is no nonsense, and tells MC the truth about herself and her image to the public at large. This over the top diva act is doing more harm than good right now. Also she needs to hire a competent manager who can handle this caliber of an artist, we definitely need a real stylist on deck, lastly someone needs to tell Ms. Carey her talent nowadays is more of a joke because her material she releases is below standard and no one cares because she seems not to. Honestly Mariah has become her own worst enemy and if she doesn't make the proper changes in due time, she might as well retire. Just saying.

Ya I don't get why she can't just for once let loose and have fun. Just play the game, no one will force you to hook up with these people. Also same goes for her other recently aired interviews. The ones with Access Hollywood, E entertainment and Mario Lopez. She looked bored, annoyed and down right disinterested. Plus whenever they ask about her show, it's always "you have to see, there are moments". Like I get it, you don't want to reveal everything but at least give a little info. Even thriller tv series casts and crews give out more info than this. There is another interview coming up and the interviewer tweeted that she talked with Mariah about diamonds for a long time, whereas she didn't even bring up any diamond related question. So I guess the interviewer will ask her something and she will go off tangent and start blabbering about diamonds again. And then she will be surprised that people think she is dramatic and over the top.

This is the first time I felt that Ellen got a little annoyed at Mariah. Usually they have great chemistry and one can tell that they are good friends in real life. This time Ellen was a little distant. Wake up Mariah, wake up. Only people on your pay roll think that's a cute look.

Fans never get too old. If the music is good and that artist is still relatable (or has a strong connection to their fanbase), fans of any age will continue to support an artist. R. Kelly, Janet Jackson, Barbra Streisand, hell even Charlie Wilson drop albums and they hit #1 or at least go top 3. Those artists are still successful because throughout their careers they have managed to maintain their loyal fan base while still attracting new and casual fans. Mariah has straight lost her what I call "old school" fans who have been with her since VOL. Casual fans and the public in general view her as a has been, washed up, aging diva who can't sing no more. Mariah's image is bottom line to the curb destroyed. Her image is so shot out she could release a great album tomorrow and no one would buy it because folks wouldn't give a shit. If Mariah had a good manager, they would get a camera and ask random people on the street a simple question, "What do think of Mariah Carey?" That manager would sit Mariah's ass down and make her watch that shit. Then maybe, just maybe, Mariah will bust out of her fake ass "dahling" clueless bubble and start taking her career more seriously. I fear Mariah believes that if she has a successful reality tv show, then folks will start to pay attention to her music. What works for T.I may not work for her. I'm still looking forward to MW's world though.

Yeah I remember this - I think it was a British charity single which is probably why you haven't heard it. All I remember is that she wasn't in the music video, and they put Cheryl Cole on when it was her line. If you haven't heard of Cheryl Cole (likely) she's a horrendous, racist British pop singer who makes Katy Perry seem like the world's most talented live vocalist in comparison. I remember being really angry that people may think Mariah's vocals were coming from Cheryl haha.
