Exactly. Queen Latifah has done it all since the beginning of her career. This woman is indeed an entrepreneur.

Super vocal series: It's Like That perfect climax (66,404)
by 123 from USA

I love all the clips they collected of different parts of the climax she sang live. I need another hot uptempo that features a strong, but feasible lead live vocal from her with a great build. The beat is so sparse that her voice.

Honey live #1 To Infinity 6-25-16 (66,400)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
My favorite Honey performance this year. I loved how she changed the way she sang "running" at the 50 second mark. For someone who has been out since 1990, I still find it incredible that can still come up with new riffs and runs 25 years later. I need her to drop the pre-records that kick in at the bridge, she doesn't need to go for that G5 for the song to still sound good. Singing it live all the way through would really be a highlight the way she is sounding these days. Her tone was so good in June and I can't wait to hear what she recorded while she was in Vegas that month.

Mariah did ok on the Rap Game. She seemed a little nervous or tired, but she seemed to like the kids' raps and that perked her up.

The Rap Game (66,398)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Really enjoyed Mariah's appearance on the rap game. Here is the full version for those interested. I love that she gave little inputs (for example how to handle the mic and many more). Also liked seeing what kind of rapper she prefers. Overall it was a cute moment. Here is a separate video with an intro not included in the first video. She seems to be recording something.

HI Tevin and Licia. Yes Ashanti admitted to singing the reference and they left the vocals. Here is the article. that came out recently where JLo's team admits about knowing Mariah already cleared the sample, JRule discussing how they had access to Tommy's private jet because he wanted the song done and video filmed all in one weekend, and Ashanti admitting she sang the reference. Watch this video as well where Ashanti reveals she was mad that Irv because he gave JLo I'm Real and sang the reference to I'm Real and they left her hook and backgrounds. It's Ashanti you hear on that song, not JLo. Watch at the 3 minute mark.

There are a couple of posters here whose messages are so edited out that most times is very difficult to decipher what they're talking about. I know you've made it clear many times about the rules, but they keep ignoring you. I don't see the point in posing their messages when all we see is a bunch of [...]. Butterfly (66,395)
by B from USA
| |
|
|
I hope Mariah and LA are planning to re-release Butterfly to commemorate it's twentieth anniversary next year. If they do I hope they include a disc of every remix recorded during this era, new liner notes, a disc (DVD) with the music videos and live performances during this era (Butterfly on Letterman and My All on Saturday Night Live). They could also include concert footage from the Butterfly world tour. They should have re-released Mariah Carey and Daydream but they didn't unfortunately.

Musical genius: Butterfly (66,393)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
Afterall is said and done this body of work proves why Mariah is considered one of the greatest singer/songwriters ever. Butterfly is a hybrid merger of at least four distinct genres, Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop and Dance music an almost near impossible feat to achieve all perfectly balanced but which paid off. This album made me a fan and I can comfortably say millions of others too. It's easily her most cohesive body of work and undoubtedly her most personal. 19 years later the music still sounds fresh, just like the first time I heard it. Thank you Mariah for following your heart. Respect.

Mariah's at her best when she writes songs like those. I'd add The One and Side Effects to the list. The One is my favorite song from Charmbracelet. I was excited when it was announced as the second single and disappointed when they decided to go with Boy (I Need You) instead. Imagine if she'd remixed The One with resung vocals.

Rodney produced You're Mine (Eternal) which is one of Mariah's best ballads in years (however it was a poor choice as a single). If the song had been released in 2005 or 2008 it would have been a #1.

Stella queen Of hashtags (66,385)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
I've just spent that past 30 minutes stalking Stella's Instagram, and if I see the hashtag #EmpowerYourGirls one more time, I'm going to stick pins in my eyeballs. As for the "straight A's" photo she uploaded, I can't believe her daughter is in 7th grade. She looks like she has a mortgage, a successful business and three children. Stella needs to let her be a child, this pseudo-adult thing she's got going on (particularly all the photos of her drinking alcohol) is a little disturbing.

Ashanti was very upset that she had to give the track that ended up as Ain't It Funny (Remix) to JLo. She co-wrote the song and wanted it to herself. She was kind of mad at Irv Gotti. I will try to find the article.

Other than V. Bozman, Empire's music purely sucks. Please don't say [...] was a classic, it was not. Here's my issue, we don't need [...] horrible vocals on a track with the queen of music. However, Rodney Jerkins has [...] Beyonce, Janet, Mariah and Gospel music. Rodney Jerkins has the reputation of being a "real singers" producer. Lets see what he has cooked up.

That's what I fear. Yesterday I watched some interviews from 2001 before her "nervous breakdown". Back then I only found it funny all the jokes she was making and so on, but if I look at it now it's clear she wasn't in a good mood and had a lot of problems.

Sorry buddy, I didn't mean to get your hopes up about that. But in response to those who would say that some of Mariah's best songs are slow jams, I would rephrase it to some of Mariah's best *album tracks* are slow jams and are, further, better appreciated relative to the album in which they sit. This is an opportunity for Mariah to use Empire as a vehicle for more exposure than she currently warrants with a song that could put her back on the map. She should be oozing confidence and attitude with an uptempo number to take on the Rihannas and Beyonces. She should have created a track to make a younger demographic sit up and ask the right questions. A slow number is sending the message to the world that Mariah doesn't have the confidence to sing or perform on television anymore, that she's doing the music-by-numbers she's been doing for the last umpteen number of years. Imagine she will get JD to groan "Y'all know what dis iz" over the top. To which the answer would obviously be: "Yes, JD, we do. We really, really do."

Hey Betty, sorry I didn't understand which part you are responding to. The part about her being a straight A student or the one about her taking the picture? If you are talking about her taking the photos, I am almost certain it's her because I have seen this video a while back where Mishka is showing Mariah how to pose while Mishka is taking the picture. We also know how Mishka is the one posting and editing these photos so it's safe to assume she has that phone with her. As for not being in the pictures, Mariah hasn't been photographed much by the paparazzi for a while now and Mishka didn't post photos of herself on Mariah's account. But if you go to Stella's page, it's full of videos of Mishka always hanging on to Mariah for dear life. Touching her hair, sitting next to her, standing behind her at restaurants and so on.

Now that you've said that I can hear Ashanti on the song. It makes sense because during that time you couldn't have a Ja Rule on a song without Ashanti. She either wrote parts of the song or sang on it. Very interesting. Lol.

Some of Mariah's best songs are midtempo and slow jams. Breakdown, The Roof, Underneath The Stars, Fourth Of July, Bliss, etc. I wouldn't really complain if she gives a really good slow jam.

Ah ok thank you. Although I love Mariah's upbeat songs I actually prefer her ballads when she does them well. I'm hoping the powers that be involved with Empire won't settle for a lacklustre song.
