Re: Hate speech - hypocrites (64,890) (64,893)

And if it was referring to me, I have called out racism on this board before and I am of mixed heritage myself. I don't spend 24/7 glued to this message board because it's full of hysterical crazies that spend all day arguing and assuming that anybody from the UK is evil and in cahoots with one another. That's probably why I missed whatever it is you're referring to, but I'm well within my rights to call out blatant homophobia. Jeez, I never thought I'd see the day where I got dragged into this petty squabbling.

Tried and tested (64,892)
by George Golden from UK
| |

I just can't with the way things are going on with Mariah. Don't get me wrong she is a beautiful woman, it's just the sexiness just seemed too forced. Everything now is about ensembles, camera angles, tacky pics. It's just too much now. The music has taken a back seat. What do we need to see in Mariah's World that we don't know already? She has seriously lost the plot and she will be the last person to know. Hanging out with a thirteen year old, just gross. Maybe she should be more private and not show this side of hers to us. I am here for the music and always have. The music is suffering because she has refused to move on from 2005. I am not looking forward to new music because I know it will be more of the same old tried and tested.

Mariah's World "delay" (64,891)
by Lara from Middle East
| |
|
|
Probably they delayed it so they could add more footage from her South/Central American tour. I hope she'll change some songs. IWTKWLI is a big hit there so let's hope to see some changes. And maybe some Spanish versions? Backstage moments capturing Mariah's working on her latin accent, who knows what else?

Hate speech - hypocrites (64,890)

G.G., I don't know if your message was meant for me or Martyn. If it was for me then I should let you know how I feel. I didn't like the generalisation that all of the gay community are alike, we are a diverse group and as someone from that community I could give an opinion and just as Mariah doesn't comment on every event/disaster happening around the globe, I don't feel the need to drag every racist idiot on this site. Does that make me bad or a racist? Hold on, let me ask my black husband. He says no. Also just because Andrew also comes from the UK doesn't mean he's my "little friend". I've never actually met him.

I will definitely have a good arm workout while carrying out that operation. Stella's contour is so harsh, it looks like it's painted on with a permanent sharpie.

Mariah's World update (64,888)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
"Mariah's World" will air on Sunday at 9P ET. Series premiere on December 4. She will be attending the NBC Universal press tour this Wednesday. Why is it airing so late? She started promoting it since earlier this year. No one will remember the promo rounds for 5 months until it airs. That's weird. I agree this is looking like MIAM era again. Anyways at least she has an air date.

Mariah living it up (64,886)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah has the right to live her life the way she chooses. But I can't understand why she is doing the one thing that hurts her instrument the most, which is drinking. Maybe I'm wrong and it's something else in Mariah's glass, I hope so. I can't help but think about her Vegas residency and comeback. All that drinking and lack of rest is only hurting her voice more. Especially since she's already lost some octaves and range. It's no wonder why she sounds so hoarse. It goes to show you what a s***** manager Stella is. She doesn't give a damn about Mariah or her career. So sad.

Edgy music - Hozier (64,885)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
If Mariah wants to go the route of modern edge, she should consider Hozier. He is a really great songwriter and he has the substance edge down pat. I actually love his song "Sedated" even if I don't love the sentiment about a drug user and his girlfriend who can't seem to leave it alone. Hozier is an excellent story teller and his music is good. He is Irish and she is part Irish, so there is that. This tidbit won't help any potential collaboration, but he has done an interesting cover of Ariane G's 99 Problems and made it sound better than her version. I would love to hear him and his band cover at least one Mariah song. Besides Sedated I love his song Jackie and Wilson, so the guy really knows some R&B too. He is also excellent at packing a lot of words within a song, but in a very musical way. M. still likes to pack her songs, but her melodies could use a little work of late. IMO.

Then it's settled. You on the make up and me on the ensembles. You know I already have a collection picked out just for her. Also is Kris the man who was doing Mariah's make up in one of the behind the scenes clips from "Beautiful"? There should be at least three more petitions made for Mariah's make up, ensembles and music.

It's somehow expected of Stella as she is of reality TV. Publicity stunts is probably the only way Stella knows of to get hype up, and it's not helping considering Mariah is one of the biggest selling artists of all time. Stella probably tells Mariah that this is how younger artists do things and Mariah would be somehow trying to prove that she is still in the younger crowds, thus all these unclassy, cheap tactics.

I really hope everyone is still waiting for the series, especially when it's been months since we've first heard about it and it it has probably lost half (and still continues to by the day) of the steam from that initial hype. If this sounds familiar, it's because it seems to be shaping up like the MIAMTEC era all over again. It's not too late yet, but the signs are alarming. These days, every endeavor of hers seems to go either of two ways: 1) her team just isn't cutting it and screw things up for her, or 2) she goes ahead and screws it up herself. Lately, though, it has become more and more of the latter.

What Would You Do? (64,875)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
Yes Darren and other non fans of the Ratchet Dictator Stellar, this seems like one extended episode of "What Would You Do?" where troubling stunts are staged specifically to get a reaction from the public. It is not surprising that many people walk past others in precarious situations, but thankfully many and often most others do respond in a caring or concerned way. The last time I saw an episode two actors were prompting their staged friend to take a drug while out drinking in a bar, in order to get a reaction from bar patrons. People responded differently, but most wanted to at least caution the girl not to take the drug if she didn't feel comfortable. Some did it immediately and in the open and others waited to catch the girl privately to caution her not to do it, or at least be careful. All this stuff with M. does seem so over the top and so public for the benefit of this reality show. Most people take it at face value, or think if it was so bad, somebody else would come along and do something, etc. But most important is what would you do if you saw someone you care about with the wrong crowd or acting strange or being taken advantage of. Some don't even notice, or they just act like it will be fine so they don't have to do anything.

Yeah, I don't know why M thought this would work. Stellar is obviously in it for the money, more fame attaching herself to MC. It all feels like a high stakes (for Mariah) risk.

This whole drinking and partying lifestyle would have been a great publicity stunt for a reality show if Mariah was in her early 20s or a major rock star. This kind of behavior would get attention for the Paris Hiltons and the Kardashians, even though the Kardashians are very vocal about avoiding alcohol. This is in no way a good publicity for someone like Mariah. If it's a stunt it made her image cheap. That and the fact that she is allowing a child to be around drunk individuals and also drinking with them, wait until the press gets a hold of that. This is in no way helping Mariah's image, her health, her voice or her life. We don't need the constant party videos and pictures. That will again raise questions about her role as a mother because people already think she is too much of a diva to be a normal mom. While I don't think that's true but who will be able to stop the tabloids? Once that happens no amount of swearing and f bombs to the press will work. Mariah should know it's the age of the Internet, her kids will grow up and see these online.

Re: Lana Del Rey and Mariah (64,838) (64,872)
by darrian liu from taiwan

I think that's why it would be magical. It's really really unexpected, just like back then with Mariah and ODB. Lana's darker sound would bring more depth and drama to Mariah's hip pop sound, while Mariah's sound will bring more radio-friendly qualities to Lana's cinematic sound. I've also been listening to Melanie Martinez and found out that she wrote and produced with Kinetics & One Love (and the results were captivating imo, very edgy and fresh). I think their newer, more minimal hip hop beats would give a refreshing update to Mariah's signature sound.

Idk, but all of these ratchetness seem so... staged. It all feels like an act. I have a feeling this is something both Stella and Mariah planned up as publicity stunts for Mariah's World. Whatever all these are, they all need to stop pronto. Partying and drinking won't do any good to her body, it won't do any good to her voice, won't do any good to her kids, nor her career or her image, or her state of mind. It sure as hell won't give her any form of success. I'm so frustrated at Mariah for all these unnecessary stunts. Girl, sober up.

Hate speech - negative Andrew (64,870)
by Ian from United Kingdom

"The gay community seems to think this negative behavior is acceptable." Sounds like homophobia to me and I take offence to this as a gay man. There are certain people who post on here (mentioning no names) and I kind of know what to expect from them and usually get bored, pissed off or annoyed with them so I just don't read their posts anymore, it works well for me so I would suggest that if you don't like Andrew's posts don't read them. Simple.

The idea that Stella is a bad parent is not removed from reality. Lamb sentiments aside, if the point made is that a mother would never put her child in the firing line then foul mouth herself on the internet as the only line of defence, then yep. Bad mother. I gotta say I never got the anti-Stella sentiments. But in actuality, Mariah should have nothing to do with specific types of behaviour. I stand by it: the docu-series is make or break. Everyone's waiting for it. Who is Mariah and what is Stella doing? Make or break for both of them.

Andrew is a [censored] person which an [censored] who needs attention. He comes on this board to attack the lambs and Mariah and then quotes, "I wish you well" like he's the innocent party. All the while the webmaster allows him to type racist comments about Nick in the past and be combative. The gay community seems to think this negative behavior is acceptable. It's tacky and disgusting to bash a woman who has given 26 years of great music to her fans. Ignore Andrew and keep it moving, [censored] thrives on attention. Tacky.
