I beg to differ. Jermaine has been bringing fresh sound too. While I agree that Mariah needs to work with producers/collaborators other than Jermaine, but it's no harm having Jermaine on 1 or 2 songs on the album. He does bring fresh materials, MILG and YDKWTD are songs unlike any song Mariah did before. MILG in particular was amazing. They get each other musically. Plus he is the only one who really pushes Mariah vocally in the studio (like he did for WBT). So yes 1-2 songs from Jermaine wouldn't be a problem. She should work with others too.

Please no more Jermaine Dupri productions. Will this woman ever learn? She is getting more annoying by the day. No musical growth. Why? Try new things and producers. It's not 2005 anymore. Someone please help this woman. I am sorry guys, I just get really frustrated with her. So many wasted chances this last 8 years. I just don't want any more failures from her.

There are pics of Mariah singing in the studio, taken from Snapchat. I don't think anyone recorded. Would love to know a bit if she is truly working on some new music.

New music soon? (63,973)

First the instagram pictures of Mariah with JD in the studio. Second Stella posting a picture with the caption "19th #1 on the way" (something like that) and third the Essence Festival that could be used as a platform for the new single. Am I seeing signs everywhere?

I got excited when I saw the first pic of them together. First I was like this because I thought they were recording music. Then I was like this when I read they were recording her segment for his show. Lmao.

I'm also wondering what songs she might do. There's bound to be a diverse audience of younger and older people. I hope she can find a balance. Do a few tracks from TEOM that the kids might know. Then do something for the old folks. I also hope she leaves Crapfinity in Vegas. Leave it locked up in the vault until August. Lol.

Nola Essence Fest set list (63,965)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|

Since Mimi is at essence fest this weekend, I hope she does something with a Nola flair. She needs to spice the music up a bit. I can imagine infinity or Beautiful with a raucus Zydeco beat. If she really wanted to dig a little, "Up out my face" or "Migrate" would really play well. She better bring it, having to follow uncle Charlie Wilson and his massive hit "Outstanding".

Oh yes that style was just perfect. Sexy, beautiful, sweet and like a real superstar. A woman who gets recognized by men and women because of her pure and natural beauty. I miss that style of her too. Mariah was gorgous.

Article: 90s Style file: Mariah Carey (63,963)

She was on fire image wise during this era, just google 90s Mariah and you will see she was sexy yet demure and elegant. And she wore the leather pants first too and the crop tops and body con dresses that these wannabe so-called fashionistas are busting out today. Mariah was hot hot hot and how I miss this looking Mariah so much.

There really should be a way to block certain people so their messages dont show up on your feed like facebook etc. Gets really exhausting reading the same frustrated dead beat comments over and over. One can't help reading them when they show up though because you hope people will evolve. No.

I have all her albums. The one is the only one that I didn't love. I agree she's very underrated. I believe her stabbing her abusive ex husband (I don't hold this again her) was ultimately what turned people against her. People think she's crazy. I hate they don't give her a chance. I could listen to her and Avant all day. They need to go ahead and drop that duets albums like Toni B and Babyface did. Here's some songs by her you might like: Weakest, Miss Your Plane, Put Your Hands On Me (this explains why he got stabbed), Saturday Love, His Eye Is On The Sparrow, Love Under New Management, Sexy Song, Tears In Heaven, and Peace On Earth. There's more that I can't think of.

Mariah knows what she's doing (63,960)
by Edouard from France
| |
|

Probably more than any other musician of her status. Don't people get that she is taking back the reins, getting her career front and center before offering us new music. People pay attention to her. Of course the tools have changed in terms of publicity. She's playing by the rules of today's scene, but always with a MC twist. It's not that she doesn't give a [censored] (like some other "artists" want us to believe), she just doesn't take things so seriously. I think that's the only way for her to keep her sanity in this "Hollywoodland". Like she's okay to play the game, but only on her own terms. What's wrong with that? That's smart. Mariah knows what she's doing and always has.

Thanks Ribbon B. I'm glad you liked it. I love sharing good music by underrated artists. Thanks Licia. I love Keke Wyatt. Another singer like Chante Moore who is underrated and overqualified. Her voice is so sick, she never seems to amaze me how she goes up and down the scale. She deserves a lot more success, I just haven't heard much of her material other than that duet with Avant. I think her inability to control that goofy personality in a business setting has hurt her. Regardless, excellent singer. Her is a video of her singing "If Only You knew". She'd make Pati proud.

Thinking on it, let me be so bold: you listen to that voice that sings "Till the end of time", the 90's hits, "All I've ever wanted", the person that sang Home For The holidays, the woman that did the Emancipation comeback, that lost all the weight and made E=MC2 a thing, look at all that, and tell me this person is Mariah Carey. The quite [censored] we have now. That's what we have. What a joke. Everything's okay. Don't worry. A [censored] in suspenders. We all voted for that. [censored]

That's become one of my favorite songs by Keke. She tried to go into country and she killed it with that one song. Another one I might suggest is Fall In Love from the same mixtape as Lie Under You. I agree. I would love a song by Mariah similar.

No one said she is an unfit mother, or that she doesn't have a relationship with God, but it is noticable that she doesn't reference God like she used to. But a lot of things are different these days. People are talking about perceptions and possibilities based on what Mariah and her team are putting out there for public consumption. I know that's what I'm talking about.

I would like Mariah to record a ballad like this one. This song sounds timeless, a simple but beautiful vocal, and nice lyrics. It sounds slightly country influenced which is a genre I would like her to explore at least on one song on the next album.

Marissa, thank you for that. You composed a response that sums it up very eloquently. I don't think any of us lose any sleep over what Mariah does at all, nor do we live our lives around her. Mariah has always had that close connection with her fans especially the ones that saw her through some of those dark times she went through and rose back from. I will always support her because it comes down to the music and no outfit will ever take away the memories and how her albums take me back to where I was in life. I guess we are just missing some of that and don't need other fans to tell us to "give up on her" or take a break or whatever else was said. One thing about Mariah's fans is we are very diverse. Where one thinks the outfits are "hot and she slayed" others like the classier look, sound whatever. Some like "hoodryiah" as they say on social media. It's very diverse. After 26 years though I won't be told to move on if I don't always agree with what an artist does. And certainly if I feel worried about someone, just like my family, I would say it. Why does this board tend to make the ones who do worry, feel somewhat like the "uncool" people who don't know how to have fun? I don't know, maybe these "fans" are right, maybe we should not care so much anymore.
