Re: Celine, Mariah and the Icon Award (62,578) (62,585)

Diva antics aside, Mariah has proven 50 times over that she has earned that award. I don't care if the next TMZ video is of Mariah doing cartwheels down the street, she still is long overdue for that award and her artistry has stood the test of time. No one who could surpass The Beatles' record before she was even 40 and has sold hundreds of millions of albums should have to wait for her day to come regardless of what her behavior is. Any icon or legacy award that exists in the music industry needs to be in her hands, period.

"At this point in her career and age I don't blame anyone for taking advantage of her - I think she's the problem and never addresses the issues within herself." What a disgusting comment. How would you feel if someone said, I want someone to take advantage of Adam and kidnap to kill him. How would that make you feel? In regards to Mariah's World, I have to admit it could hurt her and/or it could help her career. It all depends on fan preference. In regards to TMZ, Mariah is doing a great job speaking her mind. I would rather Mariah say I don't care because it's not a documentary than keep fans and GP in the loop about what is going on by not saying anything at all. Everyone will not be satisfied. In regards to Lee Daniels, friends should never oust another friend in any public setting. If my friend said I was fragile and I couldn't handle something to the public for everyone to judge, we would no longer be friends. In regards to Mariah, she is taking a lot of heat but only Mariah knows what Mariah is thinking. I have heard the craziest things here on this forum I follow everyday. The craziest thing I noticed is this notion that Mariah doesn't know what is happening and she ignores what people want from her. What people want is a explanation for questionable decisions she has made the past few years. I understand that but at the same time Mariah doesn't have to give a damn thing to anyone, including her fans. If you don't like it, Mariah actions have spoken and she doesn't care about what people think. This is why I hate being a lamb because the other fans tend to be annoying. It's like they think they are in controll and whatever they say goes. It doesn't really matter what we think and that's why I haven't posted. Fans are no longer "becoming worse then tabloids". They "are" worse now and I am no longer satisfied. Webmaster please remove my account after you post. I have enjoyed my two years here but I frenzy go away from this frenzy. Thanks everyone who was kind to me and welcoming. God bless you all.

I'll just leave this and this video here. Seriously these are the people Mariah is living with? I thought at least the younger Bulochnikov, Sasha was still acting her age. Clearly not and this is whom Roc and Roe are exposed to. Mariah wake the hell up. You are Mariah freaking Carey. Not Mariah "Karey" Kardashian.

Re: TMZ once again (62,543), Packer and negatrons (62,579)
by May from Denmark

First of all thanks so much for the warming greetings, it made me very happy. To follow topic, I'm sure she was referring to that big scar on her right arm that it was visible last week, the guy probably asked something about it in an impolite manner or whatever and she reacted that way, but she didn't seem very serious neither, so "hoodriah" haha, loved her cute smirk. Now I do ask, did she have a surgery to correct something? Some fans have noticed in her last interviews her right hand trembles and I noticed it too in a recent video, maybe she had an accident that it hasn't been detailed recently? Regarding Packer and how cold their goodbye was, before she told him to "sleep well" she said to him near the ear that she loved him and he smiled and said something I couldn't clearly understand. He obviously felt overwhelm by the paparazzis and the fans yet he still managed to grab her buttocks haha, there is a picture of it. To say that they don't love each other because they are not kissing in the lips is ridiculous. I've been with my husband for 10 years and he dislikes very much kissing in public, if it was for me, I would be all over him but he dislikes it in public and I respect it. That doesn't mean we don't love each other very much, it is obvious Mariah wants to kiss him more than just in the cheek and hug him for longer time, her body speaks volumes in the videos. Truth to say, we don't know what Mariah and James do every single day or how their schedules are, do we really need to know? To accuse her blatantly of cheating simply because a champagne on a car, come on, unless there is real proof and a sudden break up with James there is no way I would say she is a cheater. Regarding her docu-series, let's be more positive about it. Yes, some of you dislike so much Stella it feels like you want the show to flop just so Stella can go out of the picture. But let's cheer for Mariah that this will be a hit. The trailer doesn't tell us much but it seems well put together, it doesn't show ridiculous two seconds drama or anything we should be scared of. Mariah has had terrible choices in the past and recent, Glitter movie for one (the script was just not good, the album was great) and American Idol. Like it was mentioned in another post, some said her Hallmark Christmas movie was going to do bad to her image because her performance was somewhat underwhelming yet nobody cared and it did well, her Vegas show was going to go downhill and it revived her, that her tour was not going to be good if because lipsynch yet she sang live most of everything (I want to believe everything haha) and it sold out. Let's hope this new direction goes right too so we can have amazing music coming that it can be heard on the radio. I'm so sick of the plastic-recycled sound going on, we need some Mariah power vocals.

Celine, Mariah and the Icon Award (62,578)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
I am not sure there is a performer in the music industry with more class, integrity and dignity than Celine Dion. Her performance of The Show Must Go On was a masterclass, her acceptance speech raw and powerful. To say Mariah deserves the Icon Award over her is plainly unfair, despite being deserving of it herself. Yeah, I don't personally understand Jennifer Lopez having already received it but it is what it is. In her respective market I'm sure she is one. Mariah will hopefully receive it one day but Celine absolutely deserved it. She still sings amazingly, she is possibly the best-selling female artist of all time (Madonna's sales figures are always a little too dubious to me), she essentially pioneered massive Vegas residencies for superstars, she records in two languages, etc., etc. And she has acted with the utmost dignity in her private life. Mariah Carey is awesome and was always my favourite artist but Celine Dion is simply Celine Dion and is clearly deserving of the global admiration she has garnered. She's collecting an Icon Award moving people to tears with her love for her late husband and her son. Meanwhile, Mariah is spinning in her chair being bitchy about other artists, taking yet another photo for her champagne advertising campaign and coming up with new ways to publicise her breasts. Yes, Mariah absolutely deserves the Icon Award, but right now, at this moment in time, given the mess of the past few years, if I had to choose who received it, I would've handed it to Celine myself and told Mariah her day will come, but it's just not today.

Tori is amazing live. Granted, she's no Mariah, especially in Mimi's prime. But I've seen Tori live several times and she is very impressive. Her problem, I believe, is that she's too "vanilla" according to many. I guess she's not having nip slips or fake relationships a-la (enter any Kardashian name here). P.S. No shade intended towards Mimi with her recent nip slip. Tori is the real deal. She writes all her own music and her first and second EP's, she actually wrote, produced, and distributed all without help from a label. She may not be very exciting to watch on social media, but she is an artist, through and through. If you haven't, check out her first EP, Handmade Songs By Tori Kelly. It's magical. The second one, Foreword, is just as good. Of course, Mimi is still my goddess, lol.

It appears Mariah is running away from her problems. I mean look at how fast she got together with James after Nick. You never see Mariah and James alone and when they're together they're with her entourage. What kind of fiancee puts up with that in the best moments of courtship? I think James will see the light before they get married. Mariah really traded one bad encourage for another set. At this point in her career and age I don't blame anyone for taking advantage of her - I think she's the problem and never addresses the issues within herself. She seems to continuously make decisions based on money and attention (American Idol, Virgin Records, reality TV to name a few, diva persona, etc).

I wouldn't read too much into this photoshoot. It could be publicity stills for the reality show or a magazine shoot. Mariah hasn't recorded any new music yet so I think it's farfetched to think it's for a new music project.

Mariah Carey is never going to be relatable. She's a Barbie with a voice that could be considered one of the seven wonders of the world. She lives in the lap of luxury and is marrying a billionaire so why is Stella coaching her and advising her to cuss out TMZ? If, most likely when, Mariah receives backlash over Mariah's World she'll fire Stella. Stella seems to think Mariah is Kim, Kourtney, or Khole. Mariah Carey is an icon. Mariah Carey is a pop princess who needs to be classy and charming.

I agree. Mariah needs to give an amazing live performance at an awards ceremony. Imagine her singing Hero at the Olympics. I have always wondered why she never did so during the 90's. An amazing live performance on Today or GMA would suffice though. I'm hoping Mariah's Word [sic] features clips of her performances.

Mariah Carey isn't and has never been promiscuous. She may dress provocatively but that doesn't mean she's a slut. She been with Tommy, Derek Jeter, Luis Miguel, Mark, Nick, and James and she never confirmed or denied her relationship with Mark. Just because she's linked to someone in a tabloid doesn't make it true. Any fan worth his or her Mariah Carey albums and singles should already know this.

I was stunned by Celine's performance. She sounded amazing. I can't wait until Mariah makes a televised performance and really give her all like Celine did. Her voice is in a good shape right now and I'm excited for any next performance Mariah has in mind. Maybe she would surprise us and pop up a performance?

I agree with you with what you said about Mariah, but don't come for Tori. In my mind, Mariah is the empress (the ultimate), Beyonce is the queen and Tori is my princess. Don't go for Tori, she's still got a long way to go and yet she has been an incredible singer and artist.

Billboard Music Awards (62,561)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
Was boring and a hot mess. Having two people who are both irrelevant to the music industry host was so unnecessary. The only performances that I enjoyed were from Mehgan Trainor and Celine Dion. I was happy Adele won two awards and beat Taylor Swift. Was amazing at the awards. I don't like her new song but that vocal she gave at the end was impressive. However I don't think she deserved that award. Mariah is definitely more of an icon and a legend than her. "Vision of love" slays anything Celine or any other female singer has recorded. That song influenced just about every artist that came after Mariah. She clearly deserved that award.

You're cheesy, and so are your favs who can't top Mariah in voice, lyrics or on Billboard. Maybe Tori Kelly could learn from Mariah or Adele what it is to be a real singer and artist. As well as being successful. *plays "There's got to be a way"*

What a lazy accusation. I don't think she would make it so obvious if she was truly cheating on her fiancé with Bryan. She probably would be more discreet and I'm sure she wouldn't have attempted the lapdance or the Bryan guy wouldn't be posting her all over snapchat if they were truly up to no good. I agree with the person that mentioned Mariah priding herself on being loyal. Some of you all are going off the deep end with your speculations, it's actually hilarious at this point.

I agree. Mariah shouldn't make any announcements until the album is ready and she shouldn't release a single unless the album is ready. The delays derailed MOAIA and MIAM. I also think that streaming the album for free the week before or of release is a bad decision. I think she should wait until the second week to make the album available for streaming. I want videos like The Roof, My All, and Honey. Classy yet sexy.
