JLo steals Mariah's dancers (59,232) by Ty from USA
Well well well looks like JLo has stolen Matt from the bay from Mariah's Vegas show. Matt was the lead in Mariah's show. JLo up to her old tricks again? Btw her old lady bodysuits are very 1990.

B. It is true that #Beautiful delayed for plays because of her radio deal slowly expiring but remember that the song sold on average over 100,000 copies for the first ten weeks without much radio. After the first week, radio slammed the song to the don't play switch. The album was already done but it was delayed because of Mariah's injury. Mariah stopped promoting after the injury and it became apparent that this album success was not about the label but Mariah herself. Let's not get things twisted, the label could have done more to sustain the hype while Mariah was recovering from injury but the album was pushed back 3 times spanning well over a year. Mariah, being the non stopping professional she is, tried so hard with her diva antics and Idol live shows to regain that public desire for her music but the fire was gone for lacking promotion for a year. The album had great radio friendly, public buying music. Regardless of the circumstances of any marketing plan, push backing anything in any business is not ideal because the chances of it doing well becomes lower and lower due to the lapse in time. I learned in college that time depreciates the value of items and brands. Pushing back the album 3 times is unnecessary. The label promoting Mariah, Mariah promoting quality music, radio promoting Mariah, Mariah commitng 100% to her craft and public response to Mariah as a powerful person in charge of herself, is going to determine how her music sells.

Collaborators (59,229) by B from USA
Mariah needs new collaborators. She needs new producers with fresh ideas and sounds. I think Happy Perez, Miguel, and Frank Ocean would be excellent writers/producers for her to work with for her next studio album. Working with Warren and Eric Hudson is a step in the right direction.

MC3 (59,228) by B from USA
Mariah needs to mature lyrically on her next album. She needs to write lyrics like the lyrics she wrote for Daydream and Butterfly. I find it odd that as she's gotten older her music, especially her lyrics, have gotten younger. Has anyone else noticed this? MIAM was a step in the right direction. However, #Beautiful was the only radio friendly song on the album. I love MIAM but I think after the label stopped promoting #Beautiful causing it to stall at #15 on the Hot 100 she decided to record an album for the lambs and herself. I want songs like Breakdown, The Roof, Butterfly, Melt Away, Close My Eyes, Honey, and Fantasy. Mariah make another classic album that merges your love for classic R&B with the Pop music of today. She's mastered this art form. Music Box, Daydream, TEOM, and E=MC2 are examples of this.

Re: Last Night a DJ Saved My Life (59,226) (59,227) by B from USA
I think Never Too Far and Lead The Way should have been the single from Glitter. I would have chose If We over Loverboy and LNADSML.

Re: Last Night a DJ Saved My Life (59,210) (59,226) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I agree with LNADJSML being an iffy choice as a single. As great as the Glitter soundtrack is, and God knows how much I would defend it to critics, but I would have to agree with only one of their criticisms - that there were just too many cooks in the kitchen, and LNADJSML and the Loverboy remix are prime examples of that. Heck, Charmbracelet and the TEOM Ultra Platinum Edition had a lot of featured artists, but with Glitter, almost all the collaborations were not quite justified. It is as if they threw everything at a wall to see what sticks, not knowing it was a very sticky wall. It's Mariah's sheer talent that shone through all that and made it work. And while Loverboy's chart trajectory was quite dismal at the time with it only being buoyed up by a price cut, I believe it still did pretty well despite it being a letdown both creatively and musically, not to mention given the shenanigans behind its creation and the unfortunate circumstances/events leading to and after its release.

Andrew (59,225) by Martyn from England, UK
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Andrew is merely stating his opinion and we are all entitled to one. There's a lot of stuff he says that I don't agree with, but there's also a lot of stuff he says that I do agree with. He's truthful, it may not be your truth, but it's his. You guys moan about him on the board, but you spend more time posting about him than him actually posting himself. If you don't like his posts, scroll past them, it's really not that difficult.

All aboard the campaigning (59,222) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So shall we all start campaigning "Mariah for Scream Queens" and "Mariah for How To Get Away With Murder" now that we all love the idea? Lord knows this board is read by team Mariah and a lot of our ideas have been used by her team. So Stella, can we get that guest star spot real quick? Before any other major celeb comes on to these shows? I am actually done with "Mariah for Empire", because everyone and their grannies have been featured there in the last season. So I want her to be in something fresh.

Scream Queens / AHS (59,221) by 123 from USA
I actually think Mariah should try to hop on or guest star in this show as well. She could really go out there with whatever role the gave her. It would be great to see a scene between her and Channel. I think Gaga did great in AHS. The role wasn't far fetched but she played the hell out of the role. You have to have some great chops to stand next to Angela Bassett in a scene. This season is way too gruesome. I would prefer Mariah to stay away from this show, it's really demonic now. Season 2 was the best with the Witches/Coven. Its the same season Emma Roberts was in. If you notice, Emma's character in that show/season is the same exact one she plays on Scream Queens. She played the hell out of the role on AHS Season 2 that Ryan Murphy must have decided to have her reprise the character on Scream Queens.

Re: Article: "Empire" co-creator shoots down Mariah appearance (59,149) (59,220) by 123 from USA
B, I agree with you, it just wouldn't make sense putting her on the show playing anyone other than herself. How do you have a show about the record business, revolving around shifty corporate heads and tempestuous artists who collaborate and sing with each other. How could have the biggest female r&b act in the world playing anything else wouldn't work. Everyone would be too busy trying to get over her persona as Mariah Carey that they wouldn't believe the performance. Have her on the show and not sing? No way.

Being on a moist (love that word), sandy, windy beach with photographers taking low angle pictures is hardly ever going to be flattering. She looks better than I would and she's half my age haha.

Loverboy unremembered (59,218) by Nikki from usa
Kay, we got to get a few things straight with this track. Mariah received the Most Requested Song of the year award for Loverboy from Radio Music Hall. The track was the most requested song of the year in the US. It was the best selling track of the year. Loverboy was never discounted. The original sold for 99 cents due to the fact Mariah's maxi single had 13 tracks and sold for a whopping $13 a pop. It was nearly the price of an actual album which is why the original and its remix was sold for so cheap. The maxi and original were released the same day as the Bootylicious original and their $8 maxi single. They, too, sold their track for 99 cents debuting on the same day Mariah's did. Mariah still outsold them 2/1 and every other single of 2001. I'm Real flopped real quickly which was the whole reason why Mariah's If We concept along with Ja Rule were stolen to get a #1 track. Things look a bit weird when every journalist is omitting an expensive maxi single from existing or the fact her competition is selling singles the same day with the same deals. However, the fact Wendy Williams admitted she was offered payment for trash talking makes things a bit clear. Mark my words, if Mottola were still ruling Sony in 2005, Mariah would've never been emancipated either.

How can you say that? She looks good. Her face, arms and stomach look slimmer. She's gotten her confidence back.

Andrew is winning. He reevaluated his strategy and made adjustments. I do not for a moment believe he is sincere, his purpose remains to cause discord. His true intentions will manifest as soon as is viable. This is my conjecture, but after years of observing this individual I am fairly confident in my assessment. Be warned, be skeptical. That is all.

I don't know, the St. Barts pictures weren't very flattering. I don't really have anything nice to say. I liked the hat though.

Re: Vacation (59,214) by Lee TS from USA
Can the woman enjoy her life and smell the roses? Or how about spending quality time with Demkids, like teaching them the significance of a butterfly at the farm. Lol no but I'm sure Mariah is also working behind the scenes. Remember how Honey and My All came about? She was on vacation and was inspired. Puerto Rico anyone? But yes I think she should start heading back to Vegas for rehearsals, etc. I hope she gives it everything for the last run, vocals that we can be proud of. And I think she should put the kids in kindergarten so they can experience somewhat of a normal upbringing or maybe next year. I just need one last slay before she really goes on a long vacation.

Diane and Gaga (59,213) by Blue Riding Hood from Outside
Gaga and her Oscar nominated song "Til It Happens to You" I must say is very lovely. Although I feel like Diane's writing is very structured and can guess why Mariah and her had a troubled experience together. But, it's nice to see that Mariah and Diane have come to terms with each other. I hope they can hammer up one hell of a ballad. I anticipate another Can't Take That Away, or the My All reminiscent After Tonight.

How amazing does Mariah look in the St Barts pictures? Also, it's nice not seeing Stella. I was getting so tired of seeing her in every picture.

It's too soon for Mariah's new era to start. She has Vegas coming up and her European tour to take care of. The momentum has to be at the right time. I think we won't get a new single until summer or spring.

Re: Last Night a DJ Saved My Life (59,207) (59,210) by Musti from UK
I don't think LNADJSML would have been a successful single. At the time Glitter was released it was slammed as yet another Mariah song featuring Mariah. Loverboy was a hot song but it was nothing like the R&B sound that was prevalent at the time. Other successful songs on the chart that year were Bootylicious, Fallin', U Remind Me, I'm Real. Loverboy was very different, and although it was hot, we also need to consider the video which the general public hated. No one wanted to see Mariah dropping more and more clothes. Perhaps Loverboy's Firecracker version would have been successful, seeing how both versions of I'm Real were huge hits. I love Glitter and I think it's one of her best albums, but maybe it was too soon to bring back the 80s sound in 2001.

Re: B for Balmain (59,199) (59,209) by May from Denmark
Mariah always chooses such incredibly short crop leather jackets. Somehow this last time it didn't seem to work too well, I don't know what was off, the jeans or that she has slightly wider hips now. In this picture it looks great but that was from the E=MC2 era, she was slimmer then but I loved all that era fashion wise, she looked so pretty with the black stripped shorts and black stockings as well as all those mini skirts. And I really love how she looked in this one where she has a knee length skirt, her hair looks wild and I love it, she seemed more tanned than usual in those, she had that California sunkiss girl going on. But like mentioned, sometimes Mariah hits right and others are such a miss, like the infamous super short leather skirt gone "what?" haha. I don't know if anyone remembers here is the picture. I applaud her courage though, I don't know if I would dare as an every day outfit unless I had to go clubbing.

Mariah / Shania (59,208) by Blue Riding Hood from Outside
When I think of it, Mariah's versatility is impressive. She can collaborate with legends like Whitney to new upcoming acts like Nicki. I still want that Mariah/Janet collab to happen like JD told. Sometimes, I wonder what a Mariah/Shania collab would be like. I wanted a balled like From This Moment On or Forever and For Always meets I Stay in Love or I Wanna Know What Love Is.

Re: Last Night a DJ Saved My Life (59,167) (59,207) by Blue Riding Hood from Outside
I like Loverboy, but you can't deny the fact that it was extremely weak as a lead single. It failed to garner decent airplay because of it's retro throwback sound. Its chart run looked like this: 79-75-59-55-61-60-2-2-9-49-73-89-95. It was stalling, until a heavy discount pushed it to #1 on Single Sales, but got blocked by Bootylicious because of Tommy's schemes. Loverboy only spent 3 weeks in the top 10, and faced complete chart rejectory in several markets. Imho, they should've just switched the singles rather than pushing the project back.
