Diane and Gaga (59,213)
by Blue Riding Hood from Outside
| |
|
|
Gaga and her Oscar nominated song "Til It Happens to You" I must say is very lovely. Although I feel like Diane's writing is very structured and can guess why Mariah and her had a troubled experience together. But, it's nice to see that Mariah and Diane have come to terms with each other. I hope they can hammer up one hell of a ballad. I anticipate another Can't Take That Away, or the My All reminiscent After Tonight.

How amazing does Mariah look in the St Barts pictures? Also, it's nice not seeing Stella. I was getting so tired of seeing her in every picture.

It's too soon for Mariah's new era to start. She has Vegas coming up and her European tour to take care of. The momentum has to be at the right time. I think we won't get a new single until summer or spring.

I don't think LNADJSML would have been a successful single. At the time Glitter was released it was slammed as yet another Mariah song featuring Mariah. Loverboy was a hot song but it was nothing like the R&B sound that was prevalent at the time. Other successful songs on the chart that year were Bootylicious, Fallin', U Remind Me, I'm Real. Loverboy was very different, and although it was hot, we also need to consider the video which the general public hated. No one wanted to see Mariah dropping more and more clothes. Perhaps Loverboy's Firecracker version would have been successful, seeing how both versions of I'm Real were huge hits. I love Glitter and I think it's one of her best albums, but maybe it was too soon to bring back the 80s sound in 2001.

Mariah always chooses such incredibly short crop leather jackets. Somehow this last time it didn't seem to work too well, I don't know what was off, the jeans or that she has slightly wider hips now. In this picture it looks great but that was from the E=MC2 era, she was slimmer then but I loved all that era fashion wise, she looked so pretty with the black stripped shorts and black stockings as well as all those mini skirts. And I really love how she looked in this one where she has a knee length skirt, her hair looks wild and I love it, she seemed more tanned than usual in those, she had that California sunkiss girl going on. But like mentioned, sometimes Mariah hits right and others are such a miss, like the infamous super short leather skirt gone "what?" haha. I don't know if anyone remembers here is the picture. I applaud her courage though, I don't know if I would dare as an every day outfit unless I had to go clubbing.

Mariah / Shania (59,208)
by Blue Riding Hood from Outside
| |
|
|
When I think of it, Mariah's versatility is impressive. She can collaborate with legends like Whitney to new upcoming acts like Nicki. I still want that Mariah/Janet collab to happen like JD told. Sometimes, I wonder what a Mariah/Shania collab would be like. I wanted a balled like From This Moment On or Forever and For Always meets I Stay in Love or I Wanna Know What Love Is.

I like Loverboy, but you can't deny the fact that it was extremely weak as a lead single. It failed to garner decent airplay because of it's retro throwback sound. Its chart run looked like this: 79-75-59-55-61-60-2-2-9-49-73-89-95. It was stalling, until a heavy discount pushed it to #1 on Single Sales, but got blocked by Bootylicious because of Tommy's schemes. Loverboy only spent 3 weeks in the top 10, and faced complete chart rejectory in several markets. Imho, they should've just switched the singles rather than pushing the project back.

Re: "Best-selling female artist of all time" title (59,152) (59,206)
by JAXGH from United States
| |
|

The reason why was because the media started writing her off after the Glitter mess. She had to remind people. She even said it "Oh I'm sorry I thought I had 15 #1 singles and sold 150 records? You can't write off talent." People were completely disregarding Mariah's legendary achievements and her talent as an artist. Also because her career goal was to be one of the greats. As someone have said, she was the female Michael Jackson (in terms of artistry) so Mariah was making sure people keep that in mind and also she wants to go down as one of the greatest artists of all time. I guess they're still saying it now for continual "security". I mean she can back it up. But I agree it kind of does come across arrogant. To be honest though, Mariah is the greatest artist of all time. No one else comes close.

Mariah's been busy. She did Vegas, the annual Beacon shows, the book, the lipstick, the movie, and the special. She deserves a little R&R. I think she'll release a new song/single in the spring.

This is the first time I am going to agree with you. Mariah does a lot behind the scenes but it's annoying when she keeps her own fans waiting. Vegas is in less than a month and she is still vacationing. I hope she is working but I am tired of seeing the same, "Mariah stuns in somewhere over the rainbow" and "her billionaire boyfriend is splashing her with gifts". I honestly can't wait until she goes back to Vegas and she officially goes on tour. The irony of this situation needs to stop.

All lambs are equal, but some are more equal than others? If somebody has a favourite (spelt correctly) football team (the actual game, not the one with hands), and they are performing badly/being relegated/losing players to injury/lost to their big rivals, the fans criticise the team, the manager, the coach, the owners because they want them to be better for they are supporting something for life, and it's a commitment for which they want a return. Perhaps stop telling people to giving opinions you don't like? Rally against claims for which there is no basis, instead. Much more productive. Have an excellent day, mi amigo.

The problem with the jacket was that it was too short for Mariah. That's why it looked off. It wasn't tight though. Plus yes, this jacket is not my favorite, she should really try out those military jackets or military style short dresses. Those jackets are edgy and longer and would suit her frame so well. I was just celebrating with B because this is the first time Mariah wore a Balmain and we have been campaigning for it for a while now hahah. Mariah's fashion is mostly a little on the bad side unfortunately but sometimes she gets it right. Like the Cavalli number with the yellow flowers on the black/navy (?) material. That looked great on her and accentuated her body shape.

I disagree. I loved Lady Gagas character. She acted the part well as expected, but it was a character that totally fitted her music/artistic persona. With Mariah Carey it's a bit more difficult. I think Empire could be a good place for the Mariah Diva or non-diva persona to shine. I think if Mariah relaxes a bit, be humble and follow directions it could work. It's hard to say. I want her to be successful but sometimes making that transition is hard. Just see Jennifer Lopez new tv show. I thought it was terrible. JLo has been good in movie (the one she acted as that Latino star) although that is basically only what I've seen from her movies.

On Mariah Journal website Mariah seem to have some appearance with major shows like Ellen etc. Any idea what that might be about? Can we even dare to imagine a new album? [Webmaster: Mariah Daily Journal last update was on 9 October 2015. The upcoming events are all from 2015.]

I agree about Gaga's award. I don't think she did anything worthy of getting the Golden Globe. She basically played an exaggerated version of the characters she usually plays for her own videos. She wasn't terrible but she definitely is no match for Jessica Lange. Don't worry though, Jessica is going to come back to AHS.

Chanel's one-liners are epic. I was not a big fan of Emma Roberts, but I love her in "Scream Queens". She is so unapologetic about being b**chy.

I agree, I'd much rather have her stay away from Empire now since they basically drowned the second season with guest stars. Sometimes multiple stars per episode. There will be nothing special for Mariah anymore because so many celebs already did it. Had she appeared in the first season, it would have been great, but right now, I'd rather have her be on "How to get away with murder" or "Scream queens" or something of that nature.

If talking about the red leather jacket, it didn't fit her, like literally didn't fit her. I didn't even notice it but I thought it looked off, she wouldn't have been able to zip it up fully or button the 2nd button. I get the look she was going for but it didn't work, even for a casual day out. Mariah really needs a stylist that can elevate her look, but I gather that she ultimately just wears what she likes. Hate to say this, well no but kudos to JLo who never looks bad and always gives her fans fashion moments - even that shorter hair cut. Mariah is too gorgeous to not look put together.

I'm not sure either, her acceptance speech seemed strange to me as well. Kinda like she knew she was getting that globe haha. It's probably more about her gaining more publicity/fans that she's lost since her last album so maybe her next one performs better. I feel if Jessica Lange was still in it, her and Mariah would be amazing. She could totally play Mariah's diva grandmother or something.
