Re: The new Mariah Carey: the standard (56,307) (56,320) by CMC from NY,NY I get your angle of Mariah being the standard of artists being compared to and she doesn't need a comeback, she's always been here. Yes she's never totally disappeared for years at a time from the public is true. However, with the exception of MIAM we have not had new "quality" music, and the focus has not been on music for a good 5-6 years. It's is however on all this other filler cr*p (in my opinion). That being nail polish, perfume, sugar water, video game commercials, Home Shopping Network, Jenny Craig spokes person, schmaltzy queen of Christmas, now children's book philanthropist. The list goes on. As a fan since the early ninties, now 30, I find it somewhat insulting being dished out these business ventures and teased with the excitement of "new things coming". I'm wondering who the target audience is? A children's book to gain young children as fans for her music? I think not. That's just about the money. I have been supporting her career for years, recently going to Vegas this past July, 4th row and can attest to her still amazing vocals. However I want the music. Good quality music. It concerns me as a fan of 21+ years she is uninspired and focusing more on money making ventures and no longer music. The core audience fan base, at least those of us 30+, are not interested in children's books. Then again I can only speak for myself. (Thursday 27 August 2015; 0:27)

Adele and Sam are proving that well written songs with a vintage sound still sell and we all know that that is the type of songs her fans want from her. She did just that on MIAM but the songs didn't really have any memorable hooks/choruses. MIAM is the thinking fan's Mariah Carey album. It requires the listener to repeatedly listen to the songs to fully understand their brilliance with the exception of #Beautiful. (Thursday 27 August 2015; 0:24)

The whole album is a gem. I feel "Me I am Mariah" would have been another great era, with "Beautiful" off to a nice start. I felt like Mariah went back to the good music with that song. And it's still by far her best effort and single in my opinion. I also think she should work with Miguel and Happy Perez again. They could most likely come up with another great song. I think changing her image could help her reconnect with not only the public but former fans that dismissed her because of rumors, Memoirs, and her marriage to Nick. Rainbow era / wardrobe (56,310) by Billy from Greece MC was so cool during the Rainbow era, like "I'm throwing a pair of jeans, a random t-shirt and call it a day" and she still looked gorgeous. She had that cutting-edge thing going on then (attitude-wise), very modern, street-smart and with a wink in the eye. This more relaxed Mariah I do miss. It's funny because up until the Glitter era she would sport this jeans based look quite often. After signing to Island though, and beginning with Charmbracelet, she glammed it up to the max (with a break during the E=MC2 era, where she was more casual in her wardrobe). I love me glam (or as she said to B.Scott in 2009 "vamp") Mariah, but I also kind miss that fresh-looking casual MC look. Check her out here. (Wednesday 26 August 2015; 20:05)

The new Mariah Carey: the standard (56,307) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End That phrase's underlying meaning is the word: standard. Mariah is the measuring stick one uses when aiming for the pinnacle of any musical achievement. Ergo, many artists, male and female, will find themselves being compared to her often as part of their marketing. Just being mentioned in the same sentence lends them an aire of instant relevance that might otherwise take years and a lot of hard work to gain on their own. Yet we have music executives claiming she's in need of a comeback. Where exactly does she need to come back from? She's already set the bar so high it's doubtful we'll see anyone match her in our lifetime let alone create their own stadard by which every new artist is held up to. But you want her to raise it? Her biggest flops eclipse entire career's of those who followed her and her peers. All this was to say how funny I find it that not a day goes by where a singer is deemed the new Mariah but Mariah herself is forever doomed to comeback mode even though she's never gone anywhere. In fact, she's never been more prolific or adventurous in her career choices as she is now. Music, acting, touring, directing, writing, producing. There seems to be no limit to what she has planned just in this next year. I feel sorry for other fandoms when I see how spoiled the Lambily really is. We've never had to deal with a Mariah truly out of commission or lacking substance in the projects she releases. I'm straight and I'm not into Infinity but that doesn't mean no straight guys will like Infinity. Mariah happy (56,298) by Tijl from Belgium Hello Lambily. I follow MCA incessantly (pun intended lol) and sometimes I really can not believe the content on here. I love this woman more than I can express. My friends and people around me know and think I am bonkers but still. I even launched an expression we now use on funny moments. Whenever something is wrong or just not right, I would say in her very divalicious manner (with handgesture included): "Mimi says no." Mariah has inspired me, been a companion through so many times and whatever she does, right or wrong, I support her. Lipsyncing? Whatever, she has nothing to proove. Less PR? She has kids. This lady is a living legend and anyone who can do better... "Can the real MC please stand up to the mic?" I find her latest work the best and most genuine ever, commercial flops or not.
