Merry Christmas album revamped (53,903) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
As a film soundtrack? Marc Shaiman is the obvious choice for collaborator but what about Shania Twain? She's such a sweetheart and musical talent on her own. Fingers crossed that MC can see the genius of that move and make it happen. I mean, the movie is greenlit, no? I hope it's semi-animated like all of my favorithe Disney flicks like Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Mary Poppins or a full on musical like The Sound Of Music or My Fair Lady. I have a hard time seeing an original full animation adapted to the stage if the characters aren't mostly human. And it would have to be done with Broadway in mind because why the hell not? Also, a popular stage production has legs and built-in longevity. It could easily be translated into Swedish etc and done on an international scale. These things make me happy yawl.

Opinion on the rants (53,902) by Nick from USA
I am not sure why everyone is acting shocked/annoyed with Mariah on these "memories/rants" videos, I mean she has said the same things about the videos in the past. I personally love them though, I like when artists talk about their past work. Also, these rants are making me excited because it shows how flawless she is going to look in the Infinity video.

Bad blood: Do you know how long JLo has been screwing with Mariah? (53,901) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
1. Let's talk about: Do you know where you're going to? (The theme from Mahogany.) Mariah included her stellar rendition of it on the original #1's in 1998 only for JLo to copy her a few months later On The 6 in 1999. Of all the songs to cover in the world and include on your first album both you, your producer and the record company boss settle on a song the top artist at your label just recorded and intended to release as a commercial single? Yeah, that's pretty standard in places like Hell. Jennifer "I'm Real" Lopez, Cory Rooney and Tommy Mottola are all going you know where. I remember going to the record store at the mall near my HS campus to listen to new music and having already purchased #1's I found it an odd coincidence that Jennifer Lopez had the same cover song on her album as Mariah as vocally weak as her version is. I know better now, there is no such thing as coincidence. This is my first post on the history of [censored] Mariah has had to endure in her unparalleled 25 years in the music industry.

RJJ12 / Damizza's book (53,900) by Bill from the UK
RJJ12, thank you for posting the link to Damizza's book. I read the Mariah chapter and it was very interesting indeed. I was absolutely stunned to read at just how close MC came to being killed in the plane, reading that part sent a wave of terror right through me. And in spite of everything, I was actually very saddened when I got to the end of the chapter. Just knowing MC kept on trying to contact him and he kept blocking her out was just heart wrenching. Don't Forget About Us indeed.

"Oh Mariah" (53,899) by MIAM from United Kingdom
MC where you at? She has just released a new single and an album yet she is no where to be seen. There has been no promotion from her really. And tbh what the public currently think of her isn't that great. I used to defend MC to the hills if anyone said anything about her whether it be good or bad, but these days it has been easy to do that, and I agree with others on here that say she just doesn't seem to have the drive anymore. The smoke and mirrors only last so long before they start fading away. I never thought I would ever feel this way about Mariah but I am quite disappointed, yes she says she loves her fans and what not but what is she giving us right now? Infinity was released over a month ago and still no video or promotion. I could be wrong but it does seem like the beginning of the end for her.

Mariah (53,898) by B from USA
I still love Mariah's music but if she continues making the music she's making and working with the same producers she's not going to remain relevant. She made an excellent album that flopped because the public views it as a rehash of things she's already done before. Mariah Carey and JD are no longer a winning team. If they changed up their sound and stopped trying to recreate certain moments they might be able to move past the wall they hit creatively in 2008.

Infinity video / Deborah Cox (53,897) by Lee TS from USA
We will get it when there's an end to infinity. No but seriously though from the way it's looking, some lambs may be right about it finally seeing the light of day once M is done ranting. Or maybe they'll use the video as a tool to help relaunch the single. Or maybe the video was only meant to help promote Vegas, lol who knows? Talking about videos, was little Mariah not allowed to smile during the debut era? I don't think she truly smiled in one until Emotions. Let's hope she has some good moments to share in the latest little splendor memoir thing haha. How cute is it to see M share a moment with Deborah. It's nice to see real singers support each other. The only song I ever really knew from her was the "Suppose to be here" song, and it always reminded me of Butterfly. When I saw their pic I thought two incredible voices but such different careers. Thankful the stars were aligned for Mariah.

Darryle (53,896) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
My question exactly. Ugh I mean at this point I don't know if the video will help but I do wanna see it, I don't want it to be another #Beautiful (remix) video situation which was completed but never released. I can't, I just can't with this.

Lee TS (53,895) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am so sorry, I didn't remember it was you, my fellow DHR viewer haha. Ya well it wasn't much of a story but still got her featured. Even her big performance at BBMAs didn't get a mention, so ya well. Anyways I read your other post where you mentioned "Bad blood" and I agree. The song is not good but this is Taylor's year (which started last year from the release of her 1989 album) and anything Taylor does will be eaten up by the public no matter how bleak the product is. Beyonce had the same from the release of "Beyonce" until Taylor came with "1989". Anyways, I do crave for a massive Mariah comeback. She is just so talented and such a legend, it pains me to see her legacy getting ruined. I don't want her to retire because I don't know what I will do without MC in the music industry but I sure hope she'd work on her album/single release/promo strategies a little more.

DHR / B (53,894) by Lee TS from USA
Mimi that was me and yeah I saw that they gave Mariah a mention but it was more of a, "she said what?" type of deal. In other words it didn't really make her look good oh well, not surprised. B, just a question, do you think Mariah's best days and music are behind her too? That she's fabulous for a throwback as well? I'm sorry but what you said about JD was very Katy Perry of you. I get that he has a sound and may not be poppin' at the moment, but there shouldn't be an expiration to it. I don't know I still enjoy me some MC/JD collabos. Let's not forget YME and TAOLG were Darkchild releases, if anything she should leave him alone in the dark along with The Dream. Thirsty didn't sound fresh to me at all and I could't stand it but finally tolerated it.

JD is right (53,893) by Ty from USA
Sorry to agree with JD. Mariah has all but destroyed her legacy. I hear people say, she lost her voice or she never sings live or she's smoke and mirrors or she is a studio singer. The public at large thinks she's a mess, the ladies at work say, she's lost her voice at least she should lose the weight. Sad but true, the public has moved on from Mariah. [...] realized the public was over her so she reinvented herself as a standard/jazz chanteuse, smart move. All the energy the lambs complain but they a) don't buy the singles b) don't request the song c) don't go to the shows but you all complain 24/7.

18 unrealesed jems/ultrenative number ones (53,892) by George Golden from UK
18. Yours - This would have blown up with the rumoured duet with JT.
17. Thanx for nothing - Oh oh oh oh oh oh. Need I say more lol?
16. Melt away - Mid tempo perfection would have done well in the charts in that era.
15. You got me - This is one sexy tune that was overlooked.
14. I have been thinking about you - One of Mariahs best uptempo tracks.
13. More than just friends - One of the many jems from Memoirs never to be released.
12. OOC - This had potential.
11. Meteorite - Am I the only one wishing this was the new single instead of "infinity"? It was fresh and a new direction from all the bouncy and predictable hip hop.
10. Exgirlfriend - This was so on piont at that time.
9. That chick - Another jam that would have been big.
8. All in your mind - This was so good then and even now.
7. Lead the way - Increadible vocals.
6. When I saw you - This should have been a single instead of "Forever".
5. Migrate - Why, why, why was this not a single?
4. Underneath the stars - This is one of her best songs ever.
3. Close my eyes - This combined with a great video would have been really effective.
2. Betcha gon know - This song would have been number one because it was different from anything she had ever done. It was sexy, daring, brave and it would have killed in the charts.
1. There for me - For this song never to be released is the biggest travesty in music. Her voice, the lyrics and melody is just one of the best things I have ever heared. To think that I only found this song out about five years ago is just crazy.

I can't even know what to say (53,891) by Lee TS from USA
Mariah is always billed as this diva, #1's, millions of records sold. But to be honest, that's all in the past darlings. I don't think people care in this day and age where it's, "What have you done for me lately?" And lately for Mariah the struggle is all too real. She's been plagued with bad publicity that will unfortunately live in infamy, ok bit exaggerated. But what do they say, you're only as good as your last hit and that's true even for M. She hasn't transitioned into a Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, or Bette Midler yet where you really have nothing else to prove. And with Mariah she never did anything else besides music. Her little side projects has always been touch and go. It's like Madonna will flop but do a massive tour, JLo will flop and move on to the next thing, and Celine will flop but has her gig in Vegas. I guess Mariah will flop but she'll always have Christmas? Sounds shady I know. Divas are generally struggling to make a comeback, look at Gwen Stefani and Fergie. What happened? Janet is readying for a comeback and if that's the road she chooses I wish her the best of luck. *fixes hair* Lol no but really it's like all these little pop starlets are gunning for the top. Taylor is in her imperial age where whatever she does is huge, sorry not sorry but Bad Blood is stupid as f*ck. It's like the movie role will always go to the younger and prettier face, not everyone can be a Meryl Streep. We'll always have the nostalgia.

Who was my fellow DHR viewer here? (53,890) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am so sorry, I forgot who it was but someone here wrote that they also watch Clevver News. Was it Ardis? Anyways, just wanted to say that looks like they finally decided to give MC some show time haha after the Idol comment.

Wrong timing and true friends (53,889) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Like I said before, the AI comments came at a very wrong time. Right in the middle of an image overhaul that was going really well. Calling out a show as big as AI, is not the way to go. The show is huge, has been running for years (although the charm left way back) and may hold sentimental value to many American families who watched it as a family or kids watching it and getting inspired. I'll even give Mariah the leeway of saying "pitting two women against each other was not right". But to actually say "Hell no, I'd never go back. I hated that experience, it was a nightmare" (not direct quotes) was something she shouldn't have said and now she is getting the backlash. In the process she probably burned bridges with Ryan Seacrest who works for KIIS. About JD, I stand by what I said, I agree with his views. Calling him incompetent now as a producer/songwriter is something I don't agree with. He probably wasn't a good manager, but JD understands Mariah's music. I don't think he said anything with a malicious intent. If Mariah will start dropping everyone who says anything she doesn't like, she'll be left with the wrong people.

If they all are saying the same thing (53,887) by T from USA
Walter Afansieff, Boyz II Men and now JD. All her former close relationships are saying basically the same thing. Mariah has so much potential. Wasted. The turn around happened in 2008 after she got married. I remember she said on Oprah in 2002 (when Charmbracelet came out) that she's finally learned to slow down and say "no". However, it seems she's taken that to the extreme by 2009 and just didn't take anything seriously anymore. I was shocked with the lack of promo for Memoirs. Then MCIIY she seemed somewhat back but MIAMTEC was a disaster. If she doesn't start treating it like the '90s or 2005 then I think she should pull a Shania Twain go on one more world tour and then peace out. At least she will save her legacy if #1's is her last big promo push. She could've had the world by the ears at this years "return to the Billboard Awards" and yet it was just meh. Not bad but nothing to talk about either. She was given the chance and she just didn't deliever. 25 years is a long career, and fulfilling. I won't be mad if she retired after Vegas in February. I would always have the memories.

JD (53,886) by Darryle from USA
I don't think that was a good move on JD's part. He's basically throwing her under the bus. If he thinks that she doesn't take her career seriously then tell her that in private. You're one of the people Mariah is closely associated with, saying things like that looks bad. Why is he bringing this up now anyway? It's clear Mariah is taking her career seriously and is trying as hard as she can to improve her image.

JD (53,884) by Dove from USA
Luke (53,882) I see your point. I wouldn't want my friends making those types of comments about me and I didn't think about how it would make her look to the world. I guess I judge things by how they make me feel and I didn't feel like those comments were coming from a shady place.

Mariah Carey cristism (53,883) by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA
I am usually not the one to give constructive critism as a lamb but I am going to point out the obvious. Ironic as it may sound, Mariah Carey set the bar extremely high for herself in the 1990s and every pop star afterwards. She popularized hiphop into pop and gave every leading MC a new platform. During the 90s hip hop was not very mainstream because of the politics and violence. Hip Hop made direct impacts in urban communities but never had crossover appeal because the leading MCs were constantly bashed for their negative impacts at the time. They wanted their voices to be heard and Mariah made it possible for them by providing a platform. Since then she has been the blueprint for todays legacy of pop. She takes pride in that and she should. However, she needs to understand that this industry has grown more young and the fans of the 90s are having less value day by day. What worked then doesn't work now. Now, she would have to do 3x the work she did in the 90s to maintain success and appeal to this younger generation. It's very unrealistic. Mariah's 45 is different from Madonna's 45. If Madonna was currently 45 and making music, she wouldn't be successful like she was in the 90s. Music doesn't sell for females in their 40s anymore like Madonna experienced. Mariah is the victim of early agism and her value is lost to this current industry she created. Lamb or not, we need to help her and realize what is realistic for her in today's music scene.

JD (53,882) by Luke from United Kingdom
I actually agree with a lot with what he said. In present times so much has changed when releasing music in terms of networking and the digital age we're in. But hopefully she will learn about this now she's with Sony and a new team. What I don't agree with and honestly don't understand is why these people seem to think they know how to run someone else's life? I understand trying to help someone you care about more than a lot of people due a personal reason with someone in my family but you get to a point where you have to stop helping because that person isn't willing to meet you halfway. She's a grown ass 45 year old woman with twins, it's up to her how she views her career. Imagine being in her shoes and seeing your "friend" saying stuff like that publicly. It isn't exactly helping her image, who is going to follow a diva who isn't into her career and must only want the money. I know he didn't say these words but that is how people will view her. If she doesn't want to listen to his advice personally then that's up to her and he should deal with that. It will be her who has to suffer the consequences. People like JD and Nathan Morris need to just deal with their own careers and stop "worrying" about others.

Do as JD says, not as JD does (53,881) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
I wrote a whole spiel but I deleted it because I couldn't figure out if that sexist diatribe was supposed to serious or a joke. I mean, since when does an intelligent woman with a net worth of over $500 million take anyone's advise that starts with: Sometimes Mariah doesn't take her career seriously? We love JD but he has no business giving anybody career advise other than as the cautionary tale his own decisions have made of him. Meanwhile, wake me up when Barbra takes JLo up on those free vocal lessons.

JD (53,878) by Tiina from Finland
Not only do they make wonderful music together, Mariah actually has a real friend in him. I'm not saying she's lazy because that's not true, she's given us 25 years of hard work, but yeah, as JD said, sometimes it seems like she doesn't take her music career that seriously. I'm happy that she has her babies and I'm not at all implying that she should neglect her family life for her career. But, for example, she used to be very aware of who and what was current. She was so on the forefront of music she used to be ahead of the game, creating groundbreaking music with unexpected collaborators. While she still makes great quality music consistently, she's not as innovative anymore but rather keeps applying the same formula to recreate a moment in time instead of focusing on cultivating her sound. It wouldn't hurt her to check out the current music scene either and not just pretend like the times haven't changed, like you haven't matured and like you don't need to rethink some stuff (outta ammo, gotta reload). And those half-assed performances she did some time ago before Vegas (I know she's doing a lot better now and I'm really proud of her) and that she clearly lipped badly or arrived unrehearsed to and without having warmed up her voice, were an insult to her legacy as a legendary singer and a true professional, her fans and her audience. I'm really glad she hired a new team and that the Vegas residency has got her focused again. Show us what you can really do, Mariah.

JD's comments (53,877) by Marissa from USA
I agree with Mimi L., that knowing JD he told Mariah all of this stuff to her face but it probably went it one ear and out the other. Unlike the other people who have spoken out against MC, his comments didn't seem mean-spirited and weren't ridiculous lies. As for MC's drive, we all have to remember that a lot of Mariah's drive to focus and succeed was based on fear. She always said that she worked so hard because she was afraid the rug would be pulled from under her and she would be broke again. Now sitting on hundreds of millions of dollars with jaw-dropping accolades behind her name, the fear of losing it all, and thus a huge chunk of her drive, is gone. I don't think that's an excuse, but nonetheless it's a valid reason behind why she may be more inclined to rest on her laurels than in the past. Granted JD was not a great manager to Mariah, but his comments were still valid.

Re-read (53,876) by Will from England
Ok, so I've been away for a couple of days, and seeing the recent messages that I feel are in reference to what I said, I must clarify what I said. I in no way called Mariah ungrateful. What I did say, was that to a non-lamb, someone who is a) not aware that she has previously said she hates her videos, b) just a casual listener to her music, c) stumbles across the videos of her ranting on her past videos, it might come across as her seeming to be ungrateful, and picking on the small details of the videos, details that would not seem significant. I know she hates the videos. I know that they are not her favourite videos. The difference with how I found out, was through some obscure interview that she may have done, that a non-lamb would not know about. Instead, they are on her main channel which the general public would be looking at. That is my only concern. Of course she can be honest on her commentary, and I know she is having fun. But is it wise to post them on her main YouTube /Facebook page? Again, to reiterate, I am not (all capitals) calling her ungrateful. I'm sorry if my last message caused this reaction, because that was not my intention.
