It all makes sense (53,552) by Ethan from United States
Yes to the VOL and Infinity performance on Jimmy Kimmel. So much better than BBMA. She's always said it that she feels more comfortable when it's not an award or an official show. She mentioned it about her Vegas residency dress rehearsal and this Jimmy Kimmel mini concert showed. They're both less pressure and stressful for her. Thus, she sounded much better and more comfortable on stage. She had more body/hand movements. I have to give a shout-out to her backup singers as well. I love them. They're always so creative with their hand movements for all of Mariah's songs while singing back-up. They have them down. And it all makes sense that the CD arrived on May 18th in the US because she's had 18 #1s. Haha. I think it was on purpose. Now if only the music video comes out next week continueing the momentum of Jimmy Kimmel and Live with Kelly and Michael, it will boost up the sales with radio additions of Infinity. After May, she can rest and and promote more of #1 to Infinity since she's on a break at Caesars Palace until July. I hope she does more TV show performances.

LA (53,551) by B from USA
I guess a standards album wouldn't be that bad. I just want Mariah to silence the critics before going that route with her career. I think she's still too relevant for that. I think Mimi and Baby are on to something with the lowering of expectations. The public continues to expect each release to sell like Daydream or Music Box which in this day and age is unrealistic. Albums don't sell like that anymore. I would prefer a gospel album to a standards album to be honest.

Mariah on Good Morning Britain (53,550) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Fantastic little gem of an interview this is. Richard Arnold has great chemistry with Mariah and I'd love a longer sit down somewhere in the future. He seems to have done his research quite well. Also, though always very good, her English accent has evolved leaps and bounds since we last saw Bianca. Where is Jamie Theakston?

VOL To Infinity on Jimmy Kimmel (53,549) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Wow, she looks amazing in HD and sounds even better. If your man hasn't put a ring on it, you need to be worried because Mariah ain't playing schoolyard games anymore. And I am here for it. Go head Mimi, get you your #1 baby. This is so juicy you all, the drama of it all?

FAO UK fans (53,548) by Hana from UK
The new promo advert on TV for Mariah is proving effective so now would be the right time to go and purchase the new album as she is number 9 on the UK iTunes album chart. Let's maintain her presence in the top ten. Stream Infinity on YouTube (won't cost you much) and Spotify (for those for you that have premium) and for the old skool heads, pop to your local HMV and buy a copy. Don't forget to request on radio as well.

L.A. Reid downplaying Mariah's relevancy (53,547) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
B, I wouldn't worry about Mariah putting out a concept album. Billy is right to take note of her singing a snippet of ISB at the mini concert on Jimmy Kimmel. That's a cover that Mariah not only made her own but reinvented through the various remixes. Mariah is a musical genius and the only living recording artist whose audience isn't limited by genres, geography, gender, seasons, ethnicity, creed or entire generations. It's no wonder she and MJ share the same #1 record with IBT. They share a lot of the same traits that make them so universally loved. Remember how pissed M was that Tommy was turning her into Connie Francis with the Merry Christmas album? Regardless of other's motivations, Mariah broke out of any music box TPTB have ever put her in and she will again. Also, it seems Mariah's sole motivation for this era is L.O.V.E. more than anything and I think it's very brave how she's going about it. One could even say cocky, well for Mariah it is very brazen. In any case, L.A. Reid is a mere mortal, he has no control over the devine entity that has shown Mariah favour over the years. But even still, he's the reason WBT, SIO, DFAU exists so he obviously has great intuition and Mariah's back. He calls her his "work wife". Besides, some of Mariah's best songs have stalled at #2, like Can't Let Go. Meanwhile some of her best work like The Roof or more recently the MIAMTEC album remain unsung because of politics. I hope she addresses some of this in the HBO special.

Jimmy Kimmel (53,546) by cherbette from usa
Her performance of VOL was so impressive. I really appreciated that she didn't dodge the notes. She seemed confident. Infinity was probably the best performance I've seen thus far of the song. Was it just me or did it seem as if she was waiting for a track to cue on that whistle? She went ahead and nailed it though. Great job.

Mariah's performance on Kimmel (53,545) by Ardis Logic from Earth
Wow. That was great. She looked like she really enjoyed that. She looked beautiful, sounded clear, and brought a lot more energy. Love to see her like that.

Wow (53,543) by Gary from United Kingdom
Ok so I just caught the Jimmy Kimmel Live concert and the performance of VOL on 17th May at Vegas. I thought she did well on the Billboards but she eclipsed that on these two shows. Kimmel was completely live and amazing, yes she had back up singers but that is because Mariah at least double tracks all her vocals and usually even multiple vocals are layered on tracks. In the studio she even does all the backing vocals so in order to get that across on a live show she needs either a few backing singers/backing track to create the same melodies. She sang completely live on Kimmel and was almost flawless. The VOL performance on 17th May was fabulous, she really went for it on the money notes and it was almost as great as her 2005 VOL performance on an MTV show. I forget the name, it will come to me. It seems the media only air her "shaky" or "off" performances which every artist will have but from these recent shows I think we can safely say the vocie is back baby (not that she really went anywhere darlings).

Jimmy Kimmel (53,542) by Gilbert from USA
I have to say arriving at 9 AM could be the best thing I could do to myself. I was about three people behind from the stage and I got to see how it feels to be front row. She was so beautiful and sounded quite awesome and to be honest I think she sounded much better then her BBMA awards show. This sort of made up a little bit from a canceled concert but waiting all those hours was worth it and she sang about 4 songs and did a little bit of The Roof. I also got to meet some nice lambs as well. I will have that in my memories from now on.

Genres and concept albums (53,540) by Dove from USA
Mariah Carey has already established longevity, and herself as an artist. She is not going to be pigeon-holed if she makes a standards album. I love all of her music but I really crave to hear her do something completely different and a standards album would break up the monotony. I’m not saying every album she makes from now until the end of time needs to be full of classics but one album would be nice. It doesn't even need to have a huge promo-push; she can release it on a holiday, such as Valentine’s Day, and say it’s just to tide the fans over until the next release. She should have done this between E=MC2 and Memoirs when she was having a creative slump but now is a good time too. I would like to hear Mariah singing a lot of different types of genres and making concept albums: standards, dance, jazz, rock, covers, etc. I think it would be like salted caramel in that it would enrich the type of music she already loves to make. Of course the crown jewels in the future would be the masterpieces she creates herself, such as MIAM. Mariah Carey is up there with The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis in status and legacy. In the future, when we’re all old or dead, people are going to wish she would have explored different niches.

She who still will rename nameless (53,539) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
And you all still defending her. It was rude, disrespectful, and intentional period. Everyone else managed not to pull out their smart phones and stroll 90% of her performance, so why was it so hard for her that she gets a pass? If Mariah did it you all would be dragging her right now, talking about how distasteful she was, and giving her zero benefits of a doubt. The hypocrisy I tell you.

#1 To Infinity is doing well (53,538) by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA
Rise Phoenix. [...] Since 10:50AM Est., this album is exceeding my expectations. It is currently #12 (+3) on Amazon USA for CD. On iTunes USA the album is 25 (+10). The album is doing wonderful things in the UK and has risen to the Top 10 on iTunes #8 (+4). Currently, the album has made it into the top 10 in 10 countries. I am predicting over 100k first week in USA. I said it first folks.

I completely agree with you. I would also love to hear the American song book in Mariah's voice. Those are classic, quality songs that have stood the test of time.

"#1 To Infinity" booklet / "We Belong Together" (53,536) by Billy from Greece
Mariah wrote this: "Obviously this song was an undeniable hit that reintroduced me to the world at a crucial time when I felt very vulnerable." I did not expect that she would be so open about it ("it" being basically the couple of years that preceded WBT).

LA (53,534) by Hana from UK
It's wise for LA to not over promise or make bold claims that Mariah has got new hit singles/no. 1's in the pipe line. If her promo team started going around claiming "Infinity" is No. 1 material it could harm her image and career further if the general public didn't care for it. The media loves a car crash. I believe he's playing it cool and hoping for the best. If she gets another number one then that would be amazing. If she flies off the radar on the music charts, then it wouldn't be so embarassing and people would sweep this attempt to "comeback" under the rug until the next album.

LA (53,533) by Jake from New Zealand
Wow. What he said kind of shocked me. Obviously he and Mariah aren't on the same page, since she's planning on going hard with him on the next record, and he wants her do some boring covers sh*t. Seriously, how old does he think she is? This really worried. On a side note, Mariah did great on Jimmy Kimmel. I wish her BBMA performance was like that. Oh well.

"I Still Believe (Morales Classic Club Remix)" (53,532) by Billy from Greece
And since I started talking about and listening to this oh so beautiful song, I'm now relistening to the abovementioned remix and I had completely forgotten about the wonderful newly recorded adlibs she did after the sixth minute of the song. The wonders of Mariah's vault.

2002 Through the rain (53,531) by Hana from UK
Watching this old performance of Mariah makes me real sad. She used to be able to command the stage. Mariah is so talented that she could make it in any era if she only had the confidence. And contrary to popular belief, the girl does have rhythm and can move. She's no Ciara or Janet Jackson but it would help her image a little if she did more than stand stiff on stage. I wish her well.

"I Still Believe (Eve of Soul Remix)" live (53,530) by Billy from Greece

Re: B LA (53,529) by Cgee54 from Usa
I disagree. I think LA was being honest and realistic. Elena summarize LA words to some extent, "There is something really wrong with the attitude of the youth from this generation." Look at Kylie Jenner, sadly she represents what teens are doing to legends and icons sleeping on them. The radio is hardly even playing these icons in fear of losing their young core listeners. I for once would love to hear the American book in Mariah voice a la Toni Bennett. It shouldn't be about the hits it should be about making good quality music that will last the one hit wonders.

L.A. Reid (53,527) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The man has me worried. Although he did say there are still many things Mariah can do, but the things he mentioned will forever push Mariah to the "old" category. Which is something I am sure MC wouldn't want, plus to say that another #1 is unrealistic so openly was bad too, I mean does he have to say that to the media? It portrays a bad image that he thinks MC can no longer get a #1. With the right promotion and a good song anyone can really get a #1 now as long as the song goes viral. So I didn't like what he said. Anyways he might however be doing something tricky. Usually Mariah's releases have high expectations because of her previous track record so people get disappointed easily, like what happened to me this time, I had such high expectations for "Infinity", but got disappointed when it released, but thankfully I ended up loving it in a few days. So maybe L.A. is lowering people's expectations to hit them with a massive album and all the talks about covers and duets are maybe so that her fans start petitioning against it and demanding original materials. So I am hoping this is his attempt to lower expectations to later hit them with a hit and that he doesn't really mean what he is saying now. Fingers crossed for this being a publicity stunt.

Jimmy Kimmel (53,525) by Lee TS from USA
Full performance of the mini concert captured by a fan. And the full interview with Jimmy. Yay, tens across the board. Mariah has her talk show game on. I'm loving the interview, she's being light, funny, poking fun and in on the jokes. I've missed this so much from her. Totally selfish now but she needs to go on Corden, bid farewell to Letterman, and fake laugh it up with Fallon. Kimmel was a slam dunk.

J.Lo (53,524) by Bill from the UK
In this day and age who can be away from their smartphone for more than 30 minutes. I don't think J.Lo was deliberately being rude, certainly her applause seemed enthusiastic and she was clearly nodding her head to the beat which would indicate she was into it. The Loverboy debacle was 15 years ago, everyone's moved on, particularly J.Lo and Mariah. Really excited for the video, loved the clip on Ellen and Mariah looked fantastic.
