Til the end of time (47,380) by Mara from United States
I could honestly die happy if she ever performed that live.

Tour setlist (47,379) by Dennis from Miami, FL
As a Mariah fan I would like to hear not more than one song like Fantasy Remix/Honey/Touch My Body/Heartbreaker at the concerts. It would be nice to split the show in two halves: MIAM songs and the hits. Or Jazzy, Hip-Hop, Ballads, Gospel, remixed versions etc. sections, like journey through time, styles, different Mariah eras. More Broadway vibe.

Mariah Carey is my Idol. I'm not delusional but I'm not going to ever count her out or tell her what she should be doing. She's doing just fine. She's improving with each stop on her tour. How some people or so called fans can even question her talent is beyond me. Even without the voice she's still the best female songwriter, ever. She will most likely always hold the title of female writer/producer with the most #1's.

The tour, Nick, this era (47,377) by Ty from USA
I'm sorry the only person who won is [...]. He was an unknown d listed celeb before Mariah and we all know now he's worth 70 million 6 years later. To see him in various pics with these jump offs is disrespectful, giving these wack twitter and interview comments professing love for his wife is bleak, dude just shut up and bounce. The tour needed Fly Like A Bird, just like it needs the emotional mid tempo [...] which the fans love. [...] who cares she is usually doing a live sounding version so at least it appears new. The lambs are [...] wishy-washy they know her voice is damaged but the keep waiting for an 1990 [...] vocal moment, that is dead and gone. This is Mariah now. Accept it or bounce.

Latest clips (47,375) by Bill from the UK
AIWFCIY, Without You and Fly Like a Bird sound fantastic. I pray that Mariah will bring her tour to the UK, I would love to see her. I saw her in London for Daydream and Rainbow, but missed out during her Charmbracelet stop off. I so regret not being able to attend.

Farewell Nick (47,374) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Personally, I despise Nick. He used Mariah to the fullest. He was dishonest and a show-off. I don't like the videos he directed or anything he has relation to. And now he's using the divorce as a vehicle to get even more publicity. I like MOIA and MIA, great albums, so much under-appreciated. To me, it's mostly to the publicity she's got being related to Cannon. (Can you believe once he said that Kardashian's are the most "real, honest, down to earth" family in showbiz? ) I believe it's the end of decline.

New ways to improve her tour (47,372) by Haiji Toro from USA
In my opinion, here are my top 3 picks to improve her tour (I guess for the future concerts):
1. I understand the voice situation, but ok with lipping as long as I'm hearing a different version of the song. I don't expect her to be on point everyday. She was on point every day for more than a decade. Either way, I know it's her voice live or recorded. So, what I'm saying is that either she sings it live or lipping, it should always sound great.
2. Dancers and choreography. Either get newer and better routines that are more current and different or at least have her do a few dance steps with the dancers (ala Honey remix live). Also, because she's not really a dancer, a great approach would be a lot of stage props (ala Janet and Pink tours, no comparison to the artists, just talking about the stage and entertainment aspect).
3. And finally, the set list. Always the hits but make them minimal because us real fans know her whole albums. Let's hear "Prisoner", "And You Don't Remember", "Never Forget You", "Long Ago", "Outside", "Sweetheart", "After Tonight", "Lead The Way", "Subtle Invitation", "Circles", "For The Record", "Betch Gon' Know", "Right To Dream". And many more album cuts.

Lee / Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame (47,371) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
It's a shame Mariah wasn't inducted nor even nominated yet. You'd also think other legends such as Janet Jackson should be there right now. But then again, I wouldn't think so highly of or expect much from a museum whose deciding committee is mostly composed of people who barely have any musical inclinations at all. Plus, they're mostly male, so the list of inductees will naturally feature less women, just like how most of the entries in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time are by male (rock) artists.

Small bit of "Without You" (47,368) by Emma from United States
I think she did good here but I can't help but think that she sounds like it hurts. What are you all's thoughts? (Oh and I'm a new member here, hi.)

Matthew (47,367) by enwar00 from usa
I love your ideas. Especially about the musicians vs. dancers. You say corny, I say cheesy. Over them. I think she can add so much more to the songs with some killer or at least enhanced arrangements and more instruments, percussions, horns, whatever. If the vocals aren't always there, unfortunately and for whatever reason, why can't the music at least be tighter.
1. I love that she's mixing up the set lists. Go even further and bring out some random songs. The first that came to my mind, probably because we're talking about instruments, is You Need Me. Why not? Lol. Have an extended electric guitar solo. She can sip on some tea and rest her voice lol.
2. Stop pretending like you forgot the words to your song. I don't know if that was constructive. I'm just not buying that she forgot the same lyrics repeatedly.
3. I'll get back to it.

Without You (47,365) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

This performance won't get any press because it's good. How ironic is that? We love it though, Mariah is still giving us stellar vocals. Enjoy.

Lambily and shady pines (47,364) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Why is staying positive and supportive of Mariah considered delusional on a freaking Mariah Carey messageboard? Please let me know where else a lamb can be an unapologetic fan and I'll go there instead. Detractors, perpetual critics, non fans have a million forums and avenues. They are everywhere. But I love how I'm supposed to sympathise with the plight of negative posters who will have us believe they are somehow the victims of deluded Mariah fans. Before you go around campaigning for Mariah's premature retirement maybe you should lead by example and retire as an MC "fan". Talk about a broken record.

Nodules (47,363) by Chicago Lamb from USA
The nodules affect the tone of her voice, and perhaps its range. What bothers me more regarding her recent performances is the careless manner of melody. She's not even trying to sing in pitch or key.

Nathan / Mariah's vocal evolution (47,360) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Your post reminds me of a blog I once stumbled upon discussing Mariah’s vocal range, including its strengths and weaknesses. The author shared an interesting observation: that a unique quality of Mimi’s voice is that it sounds different on every album. This is so fascinatingly true.
Mariah Carey: full, round, resonant
Emotions: same but more powerful and breathier
Music Box: a bit more controlled and softer
Daydream: less round, even more refined, with noticeably more reliance on the upper register
Butterfly: toned down, less round and a lot more whispery minus considerable bombast delivery-wise
Rainbow: her first irreversible major vocal transition: noticeably harder and less youthful sound, “lazier” singing style (mouth not as open as usual), whispering sounds airier and more pronounced, even crooning sounds raspy
Glitter: rougher overall texture, especially when transitioning from full voice to falsetto.
Charmbracelet: her second transition: loss of roundness of tone and fluidity, weaker falsetto, airier, drier sound
TEOM: noticeably more forced, even strained belting and more labored overall delivery
E=MC2: continuation of “lazy” delivery, even less belting
MOAIA: more leathery lower register and more nasal delivery
MIAMTEC: fully mature, even heavier, edgier and harder sound
So through the years, she lost a great deal of fluidity, roundness of tone, and ease, but compensated with more expression via more variation in delivery and texture and embracing vocal tics (breaking, abrupt punctuation of riffs), adapting staccato phrasing, and using shorter, more fidgety but artful runs and embellishments. She also sounds more confident, less eager to please, and more convincing. Yes, her voice could have aged better, but is still way better condition than Whitney’s was in her mid-40s or even late-30s. Although it’s significantly harder to access live, it's still is in great shape (currently sounds best on record since Glitter) and is now as expressive as it is impressive. That’s why most critics shut up about it already.

Hate to destroy a good lynch mob but... (47,358) by nikki from usa
When Mariah didn't promote her album and was silent my first reaction was "something's wrong". It was shocking how so many people jumped to "she's stuck up" or "thinks her name can sell her album alone" comments. As far as this tour goes, she's been practicing for months, and her team was gushing over her voice. Now, she's having voice issues and is very badly lipsyncing some of her songs. That tells me that the lipping is a last minute change that wasn't rehearsed. Now, what logical reason would cause this? What if she woke up the morning of with a cold? It's too last minute for Mariah to cancel. If she went on vocal rest until showtime than her vocals would be especially rusty. Which would explain why fans said her vocals improved as the night went on. All the reports I've read (pretty much all of them) claimed her voice has been getting better with each concert even though it's well under par. It would make sense that MC would have to lip some songs to preserve her voice to hit notes in other songs throughout the night. Pick and choose her battles. If this show is about her live vocals than a cold is the worst thing that could happen because there would be no back up plan. The media will show the worst moments and lip parts to sensationalize, but they're not going to show you anything she sang well.

Great clips (47,357) by Ryan from Canada

This sounds much better and I don't think it was lipped. There was obviously some reason that she didn't sound great the first few shows. I don't believe it's because her voice is gone.

Can we please discuss how good Mariah is looking these days. People can say what they may about her voice, but I would spent my rent money just to be able to see her in person.

Fly Like A Bird (47,355) by B from USA
That performance of Fly Like A Bird was, in my opinion, better than her performance of it at the 2006 Grammy Awards. She's slaying it. I never doubted her, or her talent. She's proven yet again that first concert was just a bad day which everyone is entitled to. All hail the queen.

Matthew / what difference does it make? (47,354) by Marcus from Brazil
Matthew, I think nobody cares much about the production of Mariah's concerts as long as she sings well. I'm not trying to be negative, but changing any aspect of the show when the main instrument is not working properly won't save the day. Mariah remixes are usually way more difficult to sing than the originals, let's say Heartbreaker (If You Should Ever Be Lonely), she couldn't pull that one. My All is one of the rare ones whose remix is easier on her vocals, and that's why she always switch into it with the help of the background singers. Mariah's concerts have always been criticized, but her voice had never been tin question on any of them until recent. Beyonce, Madonna, Britney can camouflage anything changing things around because they don't only do one thing. With Mariah I think the gimmicks don't work, she only has her voice and that's what people focus one. Whitney was another one that only had her voice to fall back on.

Matthew from USA (47,353) by Gilbert from USA
Great topic. I would love to see more ballads surrounding the piano, I think it was a great move to do a classic. She could definitely bring out And You Don't Remember or even Vanishing and she can switch it up, there doesn't have to be a rule that states she has to sing like the original version. I loved her performance of Subtle Invitation but since she has done that I won't put that in my list of changes. If she does some covers such as "Cry Me A River" by Dinah Washington or "Eventually" by Pink. Mariah has many layers of textures in her voice and I think she can sing "Eventually" quite well. Lately, I've been listening to her music and I've been paying more attention to her vocals and I thought that is some talent right there. I don't think there is a female artist out there that can layer their voice like Mariah does. If you need examples of what I mean she has done it in "Breakdown", "Circles", "Melt Away". I'm trying to think back to see if she has used those vocals in her latest album. I'll have to get back to you on that one unless someone who read this can confirm it for me.
